STAR Grand Prix consistently deliver great matches. The hard-hitting joshi style and faction system make the promotion really engaging. The only reason it's not a 10 is because of occasional roster turnover and some booking decisions, but overall Stardom is still one of the strongest promotions in wrestling today."

The best womens promotion in the business without question. **UPDATE** Still the best womens promotion in the world, but after their biggest show ever. They've lost their most popular star in Tam Nakano and the Icon of Stardom Mayu Iwatani. It's a strange world we're in now, when Stardom exists without either Tam or Mayu. But they built up enough stars to keep the ship sailing. I just hope Taro Okada has plans and pushes the talent that have been waiting for so long. Namely Momo Watanabe and Hazuki. Gone down to a 9, just some little things in the booking, like having nothing for Syuri, Hazuki and others to do.Maika should be going after HATE but instead lost her faction. Ami SOhrei came back and has done nothing much, and now Saki Kashima is retiring..... The last of the OGs"

However, Stardom always manages to pick itself back up and seemingly creates a new generation of talent. Storylines are hard-hitting, and mostly play out in the ring, making them accessible to all fans regardless of Japanese language levels. They are in a boom at the moment, with some amazing wrestlers on their roster, with many more pushing through."

A little tough to follow due to lack of subtitles and translations, but it's easy enough to piece together what's happening because the plots aren't that complex (you can find summaries of promos on the results page of their home website, which you can translate in browser... not ideal but understand they're working with limited resources here). Meanwhile, it's an easy watch, everyone on the roster is likeable in some way (even the heels), and big shows are guaranteed to have at least a few really-good-to-great matches. It's the number two overall wrestling company in Japan at the moment for a reason, and it's growing."

And don't let the 6 fool you, this is easily the best modern wrestling I've seen. I've seen some botches that were not handled well, but they're rarer than I see in modern American wrestling. What I don't see that I see everywhere else are convoluted setups that are only possible through obvious cooperation. The talent has enough sense to not do something just because the end result will look cool in gif format, thought is put into "how do we get here? " And I really do appreciate that. They have also have great pageantry even if a lot of the talent struggles with compelling selling and strong comebacks. Their strength, for me, lies in tag matches, the big singles matches often go too long with long stretches of uninteresting selling, especially if you don't have a favorite you are rooting for."

How novel that feuds are sorted out in the ring & not with excessively long talking segments. Now with Taro Okada in charge fan favourites have been pushed up to the top of the card. Most of the wrestlers have their own distinct way of wrestling & it's great to watch the rookies develop month after month until you suddenly realise how good they have become. Despite wrestlers leaving for the Yankee dollar, getting injured or retiring they always seem to keep things rolling on. With the momentum gained in the 2025 5StarGP it will be fascinating to see where things go. More Momo Watanabe at the top of the card please! As a massive Rina fan I can't wait to see this incredible young wrestler blow away fans everywhere with her talent, athleticism & natural charisma. Lastly, AZM is now showing us all the promise that's been developing for over a decade. What a stunning quartet of matches from her in the playoffs onwards of the 5StarGP. She is the most exciting wrestler in the world in my opinion. Thanks to everyone at Stardom for the best wrestling in the world. It restores your faith in the best sport in the world. Perhaps no other company in history has done a better job of future-proofing itself to the unpredictability of roster turnover. Stardom has lost, as of early 2025, all of its initial major stars and standout rookies to signings by rivals, injuries, and retirement, yet no matter the upheaval they are always able to move up workers into the spotlight without losing more than one or two steps (and even then only briefly). Really, from mid 2015 up to the present, every year has great matches, compelling stories, and a simple but coherent sense of direction. My only real criticism is how behind they are at uploading their back archive onto their streaming service."

No other promotion -- not WWE, not AEW, not NJPW, not anything -- even comes close to delivering the emotional intensity, elite in-ring quality, and sheer athletic storytelling that STARDOM consistently provides. From legends like Mayu Iwatani and Io Shirai to the new golden generation led by Utami Hayashishita, Syuri, Giulia, Tam Nakano, and AZM, this company has created a legacy of real wrestling excellence. Every match feels like it matters. The factions, the rivalries, the long-term storytelling -- it's all crafted with care and passion. These women don't just wrestle -- they live this. The training, the striking, the pacing, the selling -- it's world-class. STARDOM proves that Joshi wrestling is not only on par with any men's division in the world -- it surpasses it. Thank you, STARDOM, for giving us something pure, fierce, and deeply human. Thank you for showing the world that women's wrestling can be both beautiful and brutal. This is my home. My heart. It helps that I know Japanese, because they sadly do not do a good job of presenting their strengths to an English audience. Love the concept of post-match promos cut by the wrestlers in the ring. Mina Shirakawa was my gateway drug, but Sayaka Kurara has made me a full-fledged fan of STARDOM. Edit: dinged them a point after the Okinawa PPV. Pricing a general house show level show as a PPV to recoup their losses on this bad idea left a bad taste in my mouth. I hope it is only a one-off."

I've been watching for around 6 years now and the only real ongoing issue has been the booking (a much needed update of Stardom World aside). From the creep in the hat pushing his personal favorites to the moon (while holding back others), to the current booking which is, at times, quite frankly, fucking appalling (see the QQ / Oedo Tai feud which should have ended perfectly after the cage match, only for them to continue it on and ruin the whole thing). At times it feels like its been booked by someone with 0 knowledge or experience of pro wrestling (because it likely is) The wrestling is often of the highest quality though, hence the high rating. RECOMMENDED"

[10.0] "World Wonder Ring Stardom serves as a perfect example of "struggle through sport", as the promotion's roster is not only incredibly deep, it also features the highest quality women's wrestling the world. From the speed to the strikes to the finishing moves, I'd argue a lot of men couldn't keep up with many of Stardom's female athletes. Some western wrestling fans have qualms about the size of Japanese female wrestlers, claiming it's hard to suspend their disbelief when a 120 pound woman is winning matches. To that, I say wrestling has always been a battle between David and Goliath. Anyways, there are many all-female professional wrestling promotions in Japan with Stardom being the biggest. The promotion give their wrestlers the proper time to shine, as many matches last 10+ minutes or even end in draws due to the 15 minute time limit being reached. The speed, the strikes, and the chemistry the wrestlers have with each other is what sets Stardom apart from any other promotion in the world. All the wrestlers have wrestling fundamentals down, while the majority of the roster knows how to land a stiff looking strikes and execute painful looking submission holds. Wrestlers execute finishing moves that look innovative and painful, not gimmicky and clunky, . The chemistry in tag matches, particularly when three or more teams are involved, is beyond anything I've seen in western wrestling promotions. Most of their shows are quite small and take place in venues about the size of a high school gymnasium, so I would recommend starting with one of their PPV events like All Star Grand Queendom, which usually net an audience of about 5, 000 people. The production values jump significantly during these events and are free with their monthly subscription several days after the event concludes. Storylines can be a bit tough to follow as the promotion has stopped subtitling promos recently, but hopefully this will be addressed soon. Although Stardom lost a fair amount of main event talent over the past few years to WWE and Marigold, they still have a great deal of depth and put on amazing PPVs with stacked cards. Stardom World is worth subscribing to for Mayu Iwatani, Syuri, Tam Nakano, AZM, and Natsupoi matches alone. What's more, an archive of 12+ years of matches that include the likes of Kairi, Io Shirai, and Meiko Satomura easily makes the subscription worth it. Stardom is my favorite promotion, but it has flaws, mainly due to their parent company, Bushiroad. The parent company killed a lot of momentum Stardom built in 2021-2023 and the promotion should be larger than what it is today. They've overbooked wrestler into injuries, failed to invest in a proper streaming service, and seem to cut corners with Stardom whenever possible. This led to the original founder of Stardom, Rossy Ogawa, leaving the company to start his own promotion called Marigold, taking a handful of talented wrestlers with him, including Giulia and Utami Hayshita. It's a shame, as Stardom experienced amazing organic growth over the past few years, reminiscent of mid 90s ECW. Still, Stardom is worth watching."

Storylines are never stale, even if it's between people that have squared off a thousand times before-- everyone is simply that good. A new brass took over recently and there's been a lot of chatter about the booking. My only real pain point has been the hot potatoing of championship belts, which are arguably the most protected in any promotion's history. Outside of that, they've hit a ton of homeruns. Getting Starlight Kid away from Oedo Tai/H.A.T.E was much needed and i've really been enjoying Saya Kamitani's "i'm better than you and I know it" heel run (even if it did come at the cost of Maika's title run). Overall, they're setup for success for a long time and I absolutely recommend checking them out if you've been on the fence. Their subscription service is only $6 a month and you get full access to a decade+ of content. You'll definitely want to check out Io Shirai, Mayu Iwatani, Giulia, Meiko Satomura and so many more there."

(Original 03/12/2023) Rating: 10 My absolute favourite promotion at the moment. a tremendous mix of phenomenal work rate and storytelling, with little details that people like me really appreciate. The main event level talent are fantastic with a truly great undercard. I started watching stardom at the beginning of the year when i was in japan and was able to see the first 2 shows of the year live and i really enjoyed it, I've been watching ever since. Stardom (and joshi in general) is several light years above American women's wrestling, in America women's wrestling has a tendency to have bad to horrendous booking and most companies don't seem to care all to much. now there are of course some great women wrestlers in America but i can count the truly great ones on one hand and dont even get me started on booking, I can't understand why American companies have such difficulty with booking women's wrestling it shouldn't be any more difficult than booking men's wrestling. Stardom has some of my favourite wrestlers and does a great job at making wrestlers feel like stars (another problem American women's wrestling has) they also have the best roster of young wrestlers Ive ever seen. A truly great promotion."

[6.0] "When I was looking for something current to watch outside the American mainstream, I specifically wanted to find more women's wrestling, as while the major American promotions have gotten better about it over time, there's still lots of work to be done. After doing some light research into various women's wrestling promotions, I settled on simply giving Stardom a go, as they're the largest women's wrestling promotion, they're the old stomping grounds of names I'm familiar with (Io Shirai, KAIRI), and they employ(ed) some current talent that get a lot of buzz on social media (Giulia, Utami, Mayu, etc). The presentation is a BIG departure from what I'm used to on American TV. The fact that most of their events look like little more than house shows that happen to get an official broadcast wasn't jarring, as American indies have looked like that forever. But everything else feels very different too, from the stables and the gimmicks, right down to how their matches are laid out. It can often feel less like a simulated combat sport and more like an idol performance, where the idols perform wrestling moves instead of sing and dance. That's definitely a big hurdle for me, as idols/idol culture are not generally my thing. It's especially noticeable on the big 6/8/10 woman tag matches they run on their tour/house shows, and there are a LOT of those matches. But when they decide to put on an "actual" wrestling match, whether it be a veteran squashing a younggirl in 6 minutes, or a normal tag match, or a quick comedy match with a 4'11" crotchety clown, or just your good old "you have that belt and I want it" title fight, it really is leagues better and more watchable than most of the women's material that gets shown on American TV. So while it's an acquired taste, ultimately I am glad I stuck it out and am keeping up with it reguarly in 2024. Shoutout to Mina Shirakawa, who is currently my favorite wrestler (of any gender) that was not wrestling in Ring of Honor in 2005."

On one hand All star queendom is one of the best shows this year and there are some excellent story beats including the losing leave unit steel cage match. On the other hand, there are many baffling decisions including underulitizing talents and underwhelming title reigns, and that's speaking from someone that wasnt even bothered by Maika not winning 5star. Of course compared to western women wrestling it's still leagues ahead but, if with a bar such low almost any Joshi promotion can contest that. Overall, it's far from the best that Stardom should be able to offer this year."

[10.0] "Stradom produces some of the best wrestling on the planet and demonstrates everything that is wrong with western women's wrestling, when you watch a women's match on WWE, AEW, impact or any American Indy for that matter, the wrestling most of the time isn't good, it's botchy, sloppy, clumsy, awkward, the timing isn't right, the strikes look weak, the selling is poor, the matches feel like they're taking place under water, it's slow, it feels mechanic and not fluid, there's no psychology, no in ring subtle storytelling, the wrestlers are out of place most of the time, they don't feel distinct, they all have the same in ring style, the same energy, the same lack of physical charisma and they don't emotionally engage in the match so you feel like you're watching two brainless machines going through a bunch of spots that they mess up half the time like it's their first ever match, there are exceptions of course, Becky, Charlotte, Rhea, Mercedes, Athena, Natalya, Deeb, Grace.....etc, and NXT has a lot of prospects that look promising like Tiffany and Sol Ruca.....etc, but the rest have some of those problems and even the ones that I listed to an extent, and that's why in America women's wrestling is far below men's wrestling in term of quality and people pretend to enjoy just to be polite, that's why when AEW do a women's match, the crowd goes silent, even if the match ends up being good, they still didn't care. On the other side, stardom has none of these problems and it's sublime, the wrestlers know what they're doing and they know how to make you feel you're watching a believable contest, the botches and messed up spots are very rare, the matches are well timed, perfectly paced, it's fluid, it's smooth, it's crisp, it's polished, it's energetic, the strikes are stiff, the selling is on point, the psychology is great, every wrestler feels different whether from an in ring or character side. To be fair, stardom isn't perfect, they sometimes do goofy shit, the championships have the same god awful star design and the matches would be better without the dives to the outside where all the wrestlers have to gather for no reason to catch the diving wrestler But it's still very good and a great example of what women's wrestling could and should be"

More than any other promotion today, it consistently provides great wrestling, a little humor and a ton of heart and feel good moments. The overall presentation, music, costumes, etc. is top notch as well. I'm blown away by the roster depth, the main eveners are among the best in the world of any gender. And somehow the under card wrestlers are so endearing, I can't help but root for them. I really like the unit based approach as it fuels the friendships that lead to a lot of the storytelling and drama. The QQ v Oedo Tai cage match from Stardom Sunshine is my 2023 match of the year."

"I started to watch Stardom not even a month ago and it's been nothing but amazing. I'm the kind of fan who's really been driven by the story telling elements and this promotion is absolutely second to none in this domain (I thought I hated escape rules in a cage match until a few weeks ago! ). The crazy amount of content outside of the matches also helps with getting attached to the wrestlers and getting into the whole product much faster. I still can't really dig into a few things, like the lack of selling sometimes and the fact that opponents shake hands or hug each other after their matches, which bothers me especially when some Oedo Tai members, but then it's really nitpicking and it's probably because of cultural differences or because I'm new. Anyway, I can't wait to see more of Stardom!"

"Best women's promotion I've ever seen. The roster is great. Mayu, Tam, Natsupoi, Saya, Saki - fire. They're awesome. Storytelling is presented with interesting internet content. I really hope a lot of people get to know about Stardom. I'll be buying Cosmic Angels Goods soon."

Amazing matches back to back every event, good storytelling. It has it flaws, not every decision is perfect and I hate I can't watch all live. But at least every event it's worth to watch if you like wrestling."

[6.0] "Stardom is fine, it's just not for me. In terms of athletic ability, Stardom has some of the best actual athletes in women's wrestling, but I don't ever feel as though I enjoy anything done on a Stardom show. Whether it's long matches to try and create an epic atmosphere or sensational moves that half the time don't go well (please don't die, Mayu), Stardom feels like it misses more often than it hits for me personally. That said, their bigger shows are always worth catching, it's just hard to justify giving a score higher than a 6 to a promotion that I think you can skip at least half the content of and still be able to keep track, as the random house shows uploaded to Stardom World loaded with filler 6-woman or 8-woman tags don't need to be watched in order to keep up."

[10.0] "Stardom is currently (and has been for the past 4 or so years) the most consistently phenomenal wrestling promotion on the planet. Only rivaled by New Japan when it comes to in-ring quality, these wrestlers perform at the highest caliber possible. Not only do you see high-speed Joshi at it's finest, but hard-hitting bouts, technical wizardry, and intricate story lines that makes you do your homework and dive deeper into the lore. For my friends in the west who are sleeping on Stardom, do yourself a favor and fork out a couple bucks for Stardom World and be amazed."

[9.0] "I gave them an 8 the last time I rated the promotion, mainly saying that it's the best joshi promotion but with sometimes stupid booking decisions. Since then Stardom has been bought by Bushiroad, a lot of new talents signed with the promotion, a lot of things happened. I'd say the booking has been more consistent the last few years, especially this year it becomes more interesting because Rossy kind of changed his formula with some surprising but logical booking decisions. He had an habit of booking very long reigns for the World and Wonder of Stardom titles but he changed that lately, which makes the promotion less predictable and more enjoying to watch. Match quality has improved, a lot of wrestlers are more experienced right now and there's also promising rookies so it's an exciting time for Stardom. The thing I'd like to see improve is the booking of the tournaments. Some wrestlers will have a 5 Star GP match on some night and then not wrestle for a few shows, it makes it confusing to follow sometimes. The Cinderella tournament was maybe more enjoyable when it was just a one night tournament. Besides that I don't have much complaints."

[7.0] "In 2022 I called Stardom (rated then at 9.0) an undeniable success that legitimized a generation of hot talent. In 2023, my opinions of the now-top joshi promotion are a lot more complicated. The highs of 2022 and 2023 are far greater than the unforgettable Nippon Budokan with a brilliant show in Yokohama Arena commanding over 5000, but the lows of the promotions have becoming glaringly apparent. A much more crowded roster with an over-abundance of outsiders (that ironically enough end up creating better stories and matches), and many more instances of questionable booking that only serves to undermine the roster that was affirmed in 2019-2020 with the Golden Generation. Stardom, New Blood, Showcase, more PPVs, more tournaments. There are almost *too many* moving parts in today's Stardom, and in my opinion things may only end up better when structure returns to the market leader, and that's why my rating dropped to a 7.0."
