[8.0] "Obviously has a long and varied history, but ever since the title went to Sami and started the open challenges months ago, it has been the best part of Smackdown. So this rating is for its current use. Hopefully it continues once a heel eventually wins the title again."
[10.0] "Currently, it's the best part of WWE programming and it's not even close. Every single week whatever the title match is it steals the show by a good margin. I'm hoping Carmelo carries this into WrestleMania."
Pitakos wrote on 17.12.2025:
[10.0] "Ilja Dragunov and Sami Zayn are the sole reason this title is a 10 for me right now. The matches have been amazing, and are the only reason to watch Smackdown each week. Jevon Evans, Tomasso Ciampa, Johhny Gargano, Axiom and Frazer, Carmelo Hayes, and everybody else gave the matches 100% of their effort. Hopefully WWE continues the Open Challenge when Ilja loses the title, and hopefully that day is far from now!"

[8.0] "This title does not yet have the prestige of the intercontinental title, and I don't think it ever will, but overall there have been some good reigns and quite a few superb matches around this title."
Russo wrote on 23.10.2025:
[8.0] "This title has a great lineage and has remained current longer than one would expect, however it has one of the most irregular booking deals I've seen, one day it can be involved in a memorable angle or match gaining prestige and the next day it can be submerged in complete irrelevance."
fkaYiKES wrote on 04.09.2025:
[7.0] "Some amazing people have held this, but it's often seen as the lesser of the two main roster midcard belts, and has had some lowpoints story-wise and holder-wise."
mayebzach wrote on 31.03.2025:
[5.0] "Like many mid-card titles this one has gone through it's ups and downs. I would say it has been a pretty extended down period for a while now. It will always be less prestigious than the IC title, but the recent champions have done nothing to distinguish it."
tlaustin wrote on 15.02.2025:
[6.0] "This is the companion piece to the Intercontenial championship and, as a worker's mid card title, has many of the same type of highs and lows with it. For some reason I struggle to hold it in the same prestige class as its brand brother, and if I reflect on why that is, I guess it's just because it feels like the title itself so rarely features on PPVs anymore, and hasn't for a long time. It's not the worst title in the world and it often is nice to look at, but WWE never seems interested in investing in a big US champion the way they have with its more famous midcard title."
ItsAllAWorkAnyway wrote on 17.12.2024:
[8.0] "Throughout its history, the United States Champion has either represented the best midcard wrestlers or the best up-and-comers. It also serves the distinction of being the only active WWE title that didn't originate with the WWE (it originated in the NWA and came over when the WWE purchased WCW's assets.) That said, the heritage between both eras was the same and the same types of wrestlers who would've held it then are the ones holding it now."
darkflame4527 wrote on 18.10.2024:
[8.0] "It is a championship with some of the highest pieces of memory in pro-wrestling history, simultaneously with some of the worst. Some high points include LA Knight saving the whole Smackdown midcard and the John Cena US open challenge. Some low points include Logan Paul contending for being the worst US Champion in history, the title and the scene being a laughing stock for years at a time, and the fact it was generally used as a prop for a lot of points in time. However, LA Knight is making this title feel special in pro-wrestlings biggest boom period ever, which knocks it up a few notches due to cultural influence."
Dntbamark wrote on 14.08.2024:
[8.0] "The WWE United States Championship is a title steeped in history, tracing its roots back to the glory days of the NWA and Jim Crockett Promotions. Once a prestigious championship, it was the proving ground for future main event stars. Legends like Harley Race, Ric Flair, and Ricky Steamboat have held this title, elevating it to a symbol of in-ring excellence.   Sadly, the title has fallen far from its former glory. In recent years, it has been relegated to mid-card status, often seen as a consolation prize rather than a stepping stone. While there have been exceptions, the general trend has been to use the title as a placeholder for talent before they ascend to the main event or as a way to elevate part-timers or celebrities like Logan Paul. It's a disservice to the title's rich heritage and the countless wrestlers who have held it with pride. The United States Championship deserves to be treated with the respect it commands. It should be a championship that signifies not only in-ring prowess but also a potential future world champion. A glimmer of hope emerged in 2003 when the title was reintroduced into the WWE landscape. Held by the likes of Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, Booker T, and John Cena, it briefly regained some of its former luster. These reigns showcased the potential for the title to be a focal point of compelling storylines and matches. However, this momentum was short-lived, and the title once again slipped into obscurity. Only by restoring the United States Championship to its former prominence can WWE truly honor its history and create new stars for the future."
MrMitchellJR wrote on 08.04.2024:
"While this match was not a barn burner, it was still a good match. Logan continues to show why he deserves to be a wrestler in WWE and there was some real feel good/funny moments before and during the match. I expected it to be a little more with randy and KO but it was still very good."
Pigeon Scratch wrote on 27.03.2024:
[7.0] "I hate to say this, I really do, but Logan Paul reigning as the US Champion is working wonders for this belt, and in a way breathing more life to the title scene than it has had for ages. With new booking, I think this belt has a good future with a lot of good future holders from WWE and in NXT. For the longest time this belt just kinda felt forgotten about. It just doesn't felt prestigious, and more of a participation trophy in the WWE. Give it to a big name who can't be in any of the main title pictures, don't worry about it. blegh."
new era lover wrote on 05.01.2024:
[10.0] "What a midcard title should be. Its great, it had great matches over the years, not the best wrestlers have it, but very good mid carders usually, in 2023 it wasnt that great, but it looks exciting in 2024. It can be a title for youngsters, elders, veteran mid carders that deserve a push."
Loge wrote on 04.12.2023:
"This belt has been through so much dude. Im honestly surprised at how fairly well the belt has been treated for most of its life. Most of the winners end up being big players in the WWE after they win, and I honestly like the designs its had, even if most people seem to disagree. I kinda have to admit (OMG R KELLY REFERENCE? ) that I kinda am a fan of having Logan Paul as the current Champion, since he has done a stellar job at promoting the belt so far and has given it a resurgence of relevancy. Even if Logan is a huge dick bitch ass fuckface shill moron skibidi jit. Hes a good ass wrestler and he deserves the belt. On one hand I do wish he defended it more, but I understand that hes busy and all the online promotion hes done with it instead has proved a good alternative to defending it. Also you could argue it makes the title feel like more of a big deal since its only getting defended sometimes. But I also miss John Cena's approach to the belt, having open challenges and eventually dropping it to Seth Rollins to carry both the WWE and US titles, which was sick imo. The Miz is another guy that comes to mind pretty quickly when you think of US Champions, and hes another guy whos helped make the belt relevant. I predict we'll see an LA Knight reign pretty soon. He has to win something and get some more momentum hopefully soon. Not that hes in a dire situation for star power just yet, but it would definitely help."
Enchantium wrote on 02.12.2023:
[6.0] "I will be as straight-forward as I can with this title because recent history has been just as dire. Nothing goodweak matches, weak storylines, and constant heel winners needing to cheat a victory. This feels like a similar prestige as the now-gone 24/7 championship. The only thing remotely good about this title was when it was first introduced, or the Open Challenges by John Cena. It is a shame that this title is just discarded because it for sure has the potential to be a worthy title, considering some good moments and a good lineage. I think it deserves more than 5 based on accolades."

I actually can't remember a good title run with this belt since the murderer boy held it and thats saying something. Now we've got a Donny who laughs at people who were murdered and you've all forgive him cause he's everywhere... God people are gullible"

Outside of Cena's reigns, one of which was a rebuilding project in 2015, it has been rarely used to help propel midcarders into the main event, unlike the IC title."

It really feels like a lowcard title and not something used to push someone to the next level. Let's be honest, most of the time this title has been used as a prop to get heat on heels to shit on america and or americans, which is something straight out of the 80s. Ever since John Cena's open challenge back in 2015, this title has just kinda been there with no purpose. The only thing that could potentially sqave this title is a face LA Knight run."

But that changed, Cenas' regin is somewhat legendary and its' basicly his belt, any other champion is not as memorable. Lashley definitively brought this title much prestige in 2022, defending it almost every RAW. Also, current design is one of the best in WWEs' history."

It has had some high moments, such as launching John Cena into the stratosphere in 2004-05 and his incredible run with the belt a decade later, as well as some amazing matches featuring the likes of Guerrero, Benoit and Booker in the mid 2000s, but a lot of times the belt is really "just there". Big Show defended it like twice in his 6 month reign in 2003-04; Orlando Jordan had a really awful reign in 2005; Shelton Benjamin defended it five times on TV in eight months in 2008-09; Santino Marella carried the thing forever in 2012 while feuding with Ricardo Rodriguez over Justin Bieber underwear for fucks sake... etc. At the end of the day, it is a relatively recent title in history (given this is just the WWE version) that has had its moments, but is nothing special."

Shinsuke Nakamura could've had an amazing title run if it wasn't put in the jobber card like it as. It wasn't exactly defended that much either. With that said, a lot of the other reigns are pretty good! John Cena had an amazing run back in 2016 where he defended it on a weekly basis with the open challenges. Same with Shelton Benjamin. His reign was a good lengthy run. He does deserve one more reign before he finally retires now that he's back. Maybe if they switch the title to RAW after the Superstar Shakeup, then you got money! Overall, this is a beautiful title and I would love to see more guys have good reigns with it. I would also love to own a replica of the title too!"

The John Cena open challenge matches are curious because while I do believe they created excellent matches from excellent athletes, who actually benefited beyond the TV show on that night and John Cena? How many singles titles, major feuds or big singles matches did Cesaro, Ryder, Zayn, Stardust, Xavier Woods, Big E, etc, have in WWE following their great showings against Cena? Who finally got the rub from defeating Cena? WWE Champion Seth Rollins. When Cena regained the title, who prevailed over him the second time? Returning multi-time World Champion and perpetual industry problem Alberto Del Rio."

Hopefully Almas takes it come October and we get that oh so appealing Seth vs. Andrade march at SS."

S Championship and since it seems there are no rules who can challenge for the title I can take solace knowing that everyone who wrestles for the belt wrestles in the U. S so the name makes a little sense. Cena done a lot for the title having good matches regularly and in an open challenge which built excitement for fans but since then playing hot potato with it has lowered it's prestige. With that being said why on earth did Jinder pin Rusev for the belt at Mania?"

The most recent relevancy it had was with Cena's title reign and open challenges, where he'd usually have good matches with midcarders. As soon as it dropped to ADR, it went back to being nothing. One of the most vital aspects to adding prestige and importance to a title is having the title holder be someone important, act like the title actually means something to them, and have feuds where the title holder and challenger cut promos on what the title means to them, how far they're willing to go to get it, and being able to back those words in the title match. I really can't recall a moment in recent history where it seemed like the wrestlers really cared about the US title, which just enforces the idea that it's a meaningless prop."
