Some of the most laughable television, just utterly ridiculous. A pleasure watching Bob Holly & Al Snow elevate themselves in front of the audience in real time when this title was at stake. Crash Holly MADE this championship just as much as the title made him. So much fun. Turn your brain off and get on the roller coaster century turn zeitgeist with the Hardcore Championship."

Havoc Rave wrote on 29.04.2025:
[7.0] "WWF Hardcore started off very well, with the first champion being Mankind, and what followed wasn't very important until the 24/7 rule, now the good stuff starts. The Brawls for the Title were very good and original. I feel like they were hardcore (compared to everything else that was seen back then). Although (obviously) the reputation of the Title was in decline, it still gave a place to the less privileged who couldn't be near any other Title other than Hardcore. It was also the place for other wrestlers who came from different areas, the most notable case being the ECW Wrestlers. WWF Hardcore was the perfect place for people like Raven, Al Snow, Tommy Dreamer, etc. The low rating isn't fair; maybe it wasn't the best, but it was the most fun."
MrRaider959 wrote on 10.04.2025:
[9.0] "I love the hardcore title. I know its overall importance is little to none but I LOVED the hardcore matches back in the 90s and early 2000s in the WWF. The Mania X-Seven bout with Raven, Big Show, and Kane is one of my favorite matches. It grew more significant during the Invasion of '01 with Rob Van Dam and Jeff Hardy's matches at Summerslam and the Invasion PPV. It is leagues better than the 24/7 title. And yea I know it's not the Deathmatch wrestling matches that Nick Gage, Necro Butcher, etc that this title is defended over but who cares."
AnB wrote on 04.03.2025:
[6.0] "I think any rating lower than this would be objectively wrong, or at least based solely on the last couple months of the title's existence. This was a lot of fun for a long while, sometimes actually sorta prestigious, other times little more than a joke title, but always making for some decent content."
Dcarter1153 wrote on 01.11.2024:
[7.0] "At the end of the day, this title was a lot of fun in it's heyday. Of course towards the last 12 months it became the joke it was expected to be originally, but there are many memorable moments, matches, and Reigns with this title. Crash Holly introducing 24/7 and having segments all over the place such as Circus and fun time usa. Those are hilarious and quite unforgettable moments to me. Rob Van Dam in 2001 had a terrific Reign with great matches. But of course with these mentions comes the downfalls of the end with the constant changes and bullshit champions. Really though, this title did more good than bad. It got to elevate lower carders to midcard positions and gave opportunities to those otherwise that wouldn't have gotten any. The Hardcore Title should be looked back at with fond and fun memories, it was a good time"

[7.0] "It's really, really fucking hard to rate this belt. There is a lot of really shitty periods, especially at it's end where it really became a house show sort of deal, that is the belt you could always constantly change hands with just because of the stipulations involved with it. It died a slow and painful death, and throughout it's entire life, it's always had its big low points and it's genuinely surprising that it lasted as long as it did, being initially a prop for Mankind during the Survivor Series 1998 storyline. That being said, I think there is a lot of good that involves and surrounds the Hardcore Championship. There have been several good storylines that involve the Hardcore Championship in some shape or form, as well as many classic segments, some fantastic matches on big cards, and people who made their career around the belt. As previously mentioned, it started off great as being a gift from McMahon to Mankind, only McMahon to essentially screw over Mankind in the end. It is kinda funny that Mankind is sometimes synonymous with this belt despite the fact he barely ever held it. Crash Holly is someone who not only made the belt, but became an underrated figure in the Attitude Era due to his antics, may he rest in peace. Matches such as the triple threat at X-7 are prevalent in the mind as well when thinking of this title. Overall, if this belt was more properly booked, this could have lasted longer in some shape or form. Just a shame they gave up on it post 2001."
Dynamax Dawn wrote on 14.10.2023:
[6.0] "This wasn't really a title that led to many good matches, but definitely an entertaining title with many classic moments, it was the kind of title you put on raw or smackdown to fill out a card and have some fun trash wrestling and see some guys scramble around backstage and hit each other with weapons and that's all it had to do. Also the Godfather's err lady friend we'll say won the belt, that's epic."
crs285 wrote on 06.08.2023:
[6.0] "Not the most important title of all time but it had a fun unique premise. Title had a lot of fun moments and gave direction to wrestlers without any directions. Belt's design worked with its concept. Think it was done better than its eventual successor the 24/7 championship."

[6.0] "The 24/7 belt was brought back into the WWE because of the nostalgia for the chaotic nature of the 24/7 ruling for this title when Crash Holly introduced the rule when he won the title. The problem is it became the very worst thing that ever happened to that title. Sure, it was a fun gimmick when Crash had the title because he was a cartoonishly fun character, but it turned so many of these matches into overbooked garbage. The early years was quite fun where you had guys like Al Snow brawling with someone like Hardcore Holly and The Big Boss Man all over the arena, even though you also had low points like the Kennel from hell. Then once Paul Heyman was brought into the company in 2001 the matches was noticable better with a fun 3 way match at Wrestlemania X7, Raven vs Rhyno at Backlash was a sleeper hit, and Rob Van Dam's run during the invasion storyline was fantastic and usually one of the best matches on the card. Even a newly heel Undertaker won the title in 2001 and instantly made himself one of the most feared men in the company. Then in 2002 they started putting it on jobbers again, and it went to shit again until it was mercifully retired. Yes I get the nostalgia to it as it did lead to some fun segments, but for the most part the matches was crap!"
OnlyHalfTheEffinShow wrote on 20.01.2022:
[7.0] "At its best the WWF Hardcore title was a fun lowercard belt that provided an interesting stipulation in segments and matches that could vary from brutal and enjoyable slobberknockers for midcard mainstays to fight over to hilariously over the top and insane vignettes. Anyone could hold the title, to its detriment and strengths. From world title contenders like Undertaker, Kane and Mankind to undercard guys like the Holly Cousins, Al Snow and even one of The Godfather's Ho's. At its worst, this title embodied a lot of the worst aspects of WWF Attitude Era booking. At times this belt really did feel truly meaningless and could change hands several times in a single *show* not even over the course of a week, and for whatever reason once was fought over by two cross dressing old men in a PPV match so you really do have to take the good with the bad in regards to the Hardcore title."
FACEElmo295 wrote on 15.10.2021:

There hasn't been any Hardcore title matches that I consider to be all time greats in terms of match quality due to how silly the matches are, but the 24/7 rule was a lot of fun and so was this championship. And isn't that what wrestling is supposed to be about, having fun?"

[8.0] "What is their to say about the WWF Hardcore Title. A title list with a laundry list of champions, and a ammo belt of classic matches, many say the belt was devalued by the gimmicks, BUT, I think that, the unique gimmicks (such as Crash Holly At Funland USA lol) were good bits of business that helps the title stick out. Even if you're not into the more gimmick-heavy stuff, the belt produced many solid matches from a workrate perspective. The Undertaker vs Jeff Hardy singles is one of the best of either wrestler, with a classic JR call (MAKE YOURSELF FAMOUS KID! ) or the Taz vs Raven bathroom bonanza, where he flushes the Tazmaniac's face in the toilet! Big BossMan vs The Road Dawg, a match that is not unlike something you would see out of an MDickie game, with Boss Man Throwin round Road Dogg in the stand entrances by a noose. What an evil man. Steve Blackman vs Shane McMahon. Need I say More?"

But when it became 24/7 rules it got ridiculous, especially with all the run-ins, run aways, multiple champs on one night and less credible/comedy Champions. Although it got on TV to be fair and had fun segments... and even some high profile Champions holding it. Definitely the better version of the modern 24/7 title."

After the introduction of the 24/7 rules expecially it was a garbage of a championship honestly but, dunno, maybe it's only nostalgia, with a fashionable fleavur."

It also allowed many wrestlers who might not otherwise have ever been in contention for a WWF title to add an accolade from that company to their resumes. It was very much a relic of its time, though; and if it hadn't been phased out in 2002 (via unification with the Intercontinental Title) after the influx of WCW championships, it still never would've lasted in the more family-friendly era WWE would soon begin moving toward."

Hate me all you want, this was class."

It also baffled me that Mick Foley never really attempted to get it back. I used to joke that I'd become Hardcore champion someday, looking to Godfather's Ho as inspiration."

I can't rate the belt low, because it was pure comedy and that's what it was marketed as. How can it be ranked low for being exactly what it was meant to be and being entertaining in the process?"

Rhyno in Backlash 2001, Rob Van Dam Vs. Jeff Hardy in Summerslam 2001, Shane Mcmahon's fall from titantron in Summerslam 2000, Crash Holly's 24/7 rule defences in kid's funhouse, airport, parking lot and hotel and also Mick Foley's title defence against Big Boss Man on RAW November 30th 1998. But through all this, this title included couple of not so memorable moments like Shawn Stasiak's inability to make it to television with a title or Holly losing title to one of the Godfather's hoes."

The idea of a hardcore title was bad to start seeing as most of those matches lack real wrestling for the most part and typically feature low-mid card and under type guys. This was proven true as time went on."

Plus, it gave Road Dogg pretty much his only really good singles run!"
