[1.0] "In 2026, I can not imagine a way to more quickly make me less interested in any given match than to throw these two into it, for any reason. They've been active for over two decades, & yet haven't evolved a single, solitary step since the beginning; it's always been soft-hitting, co-operative performance art, hyper-saturated with silly, beyond-ridiculous maneuvers that don't look like they hurt at all. Everything about their style bites on those whom came before them; Ultimo Dragon, Teddy Hart, & Low-Ki & Londrick were kings of this style well before the Bucks came in & added a bunch of Cirque du Soleil leaps, a complete lack of selling & psychology, superkicks that they stole from Shawn Michaels, shitty, low-quality brawling for the filler moments they aren't leaping around like circus employees, & uniquely terrible cringy character work to it. Their promos are fiercely rooted in dated, shrill, & unfunny AVGN/The Nostalgia Critic style humor that wouldn't be out of place on a Youtube channel that has stagnated at 300 subscribers; this, among so many others, is the main reason that I have never once been able to take them even remotely seriously as intimidating, badass professional wrestlers. Their selling (when they bother to sell at all) is dreadful; brief, fleeting moments of weak selling devoid of emotion before "Weee, off I go! ". The excuses people make for them & the outlandish claims that are made about them are beyond insane. After actively celebrating the departure of a talent that they knew they'd never outdraw, they replied to stagnating ratings by christening themselves with that '24 reign, only to exponentially further diminishing ratings & attendance while doubling down on lazy meta humor out of an inability to cope with how much they do suck, while utilizing a style (from the very start) that encouraged an entire incoming generation of new wrestlers to escew the most basic, vital fundamentals of what constitutes a wrestling match. Without them, you would not see a lot of things you see today; you would see far fewer people unnecessarily injuring themselves attempting maneuvers well outside of their actual abilities. You wouldn't see people like Chris Jericho or QT Marshall using lazy meta humor to create the worst stables AEW has ever seen. You wouldn't see the employment of people like Rick Knox, Aubrey Edwards, or Brandon Cutler. They have physical skills, hence the 1, & the positives end there. As mentioned, I look forward to what wrestling may grow to become without them present."

[10.0] "The rating for the Young Bucks on here is embarrassingly low. The Bucks are nothing short of one of the greatest tag teams in wrestling history, and quite arguably THE best. The simple reason is because no other team in wrestling history has been so popular that they were a key component to founding their own major promotion in the highly competitive North American market. Sure AEW got key early buzz from signings like Kenny Omega, Cody Rhodes and Chris Jericho, but without The Bucks there is no Being the Elite and therefore no AEW. The Bucks ability to understand what their audience wants and over deliver time and time again made them the biggest stars outside of the walls of WWE, a team that amassed a fortune on the independents with only their own self-made hype machine behind them. That is to say nothing about their body of work, which is of course, peerless. The Bucks have more incredible matches under their belt than any team ever has, in fact The Young Bucks at this point could have an incredible match with almost anyone, they have reached that level of skill that few wrestlers, let alone a team, ever do. People seem to take issue with two things about them. One their matches tend to be fairly formulaic. To that I say, so were Ric Flair's. So were plenty of all time greats. If you have an unbelievable formula, you don't up and change it just to be different. Coke changed it's formula once and it was a disaster. The other point that their haters can't stand is that Dave Meltzer has a love affair with them. Well, I am not about to defend Dave Meltzer's taste in wrestlers, he is entitled to whatever opinion he has. But even if you hate the man, a broken clock is right twice a day and yes, The Young Bucks really are that good. Take aside all the narratives, all the podcast grifters and their copycat "opinions", and just dive into the back catalog of Young Bucks classics with an open mind, and you will see nothing less than the most innovative, consistent, hardest working, funniest and flat out best tag team of the 21st century."

[2.0] "The most overrated tag team in pro wrestling history. There is no legitimate argument that can be made to the contrary. They are awful promos. Their comedy is a somehow worse version of the god awful WWE brand of comedy. They have never been a draw on a major stage. Even the fans of the company they helped found got sick of their non sense. People will argue that they are influential and changed the modern style of tag team wrestling, but they can't even really be credited with that. That had more to do with the Motor City Machine Guns than the Bucks. The only reason the Guns don't get credit is because they didn't latch onto to other talent that was already over in Japan like The Bucks did. Contrary to the belief that some fans seem to have for some reason, they were nobodies in there. The Japanese audience didn't care about them. They cared about everyone else in Bullet Club. Not to mention the blatant disrespect they show the wrestling business. I could really go on and on with examples, but it's already well known enough. In no universe is this team the greatest of all time. Anyone who genuinely believes otherwise either doesn't know anything about the history of pro wrestling, or is just trolling people to feel cool. Awful stuff. The day they hang it up for good will be a great day for wrestling."

Most of them relatives. Think the Yard T... phrase is frowned upon nowdays but that's the foul aroma this pair omit. Can't be bothered to learn which is which, Nick might be the slightly taller, slightly more talented and slightly less insufferable one. They have been in some great mash ups no doubt, a couple Blood & Guts, vs the Lucha Bros All Out 2021 and more. Fine for spotfests but really don't want to see the pair of them more than about once a month. Meltzer Driver is also one of the worst finishers in use today."

Currently they only apply the same tag team spots that are known but individually their lack of psychology and knowing how to carry on a fight without the need to use double-team moves every 5 minutes is noticeable. I feel that if they break the team they will become generic guys like what happened to the Usos. Apart from this, this year they are recovering their physical form and I hope that their level too because the Young Bucks gave wrestling much more than people think."

It's all superkicks, no-selling, and endless flip-flops with no real storytelling or psychology behind it. It's like they're doing a gymnastics routine instead of wrestling. There's no emotion, no struggle, no realism -- just a bunch of choreographed spots designed to pop the crowd for five seconds. What they do isn't wrestling anymore -- it's comedy, it's parody, it's a circus act disguised as a match. And don't even get me started on their attitude. The way they carry themselves, you'd think they invented tag team wrestling. They act like they're the greatest team of all time, but here's the thing: if they were really as good as they think they are, they'd be in WWE right now with multiple tag title reigns under their belt. But they're not -- and I don't buy the whole "we would never go to WWE" excuse. That's just damage control because they know they wouldn't last in a system that demands real character work and consistency, not just flips and memes. At the end of the day, they're just no-selling, self-absorbed performers who fit perfectly where they are -- in front of a niche audience that cheers for spots instead of substance. They don't elevate the art of wrestling -- they turn it into a joke."

In terms of modern tag teams, FTR, MCMG, and the Lucha Bros are the only teams that come close in pure wrestling ability, match pacing, and innovation. The Bucks at their absolute best have a supernatural ability to layout a match, and when they're clicking they get the crowd to react exactly how they need to. As heels, they are incredible at making their opponents look good. After the CM Punk drama and the EVP run where they switched up their style, it feels like they've become a bit underrated. Now that they've found a great way to meld their heel personas with their matches, these guys are set to do great work in the rest of 2025."

Is it the storylines they've been involved in? Their semi-innovative moveset? Or maybe the lucha libre-style acrobatics? Honestly, I don't even know. It's crazy how I never really stopped to think about a tag team basically running an entire promotion. And yeah, there's all the controversy and drama surrounding them, but at the end of the day, they do put on solid matches. The problem? It's the same moves we've seen in PWG, NJPW, and now AEW. I've been watching them for years, and at this point, I'm just bored of the same repetitive spots. Are they a great tag team? No doubt. Are they key figures in Bullet Club and AEW's creation? 100%. They don't have natural charisma or acting skills of any sort so their promo work comes off as a poor imitation of better pro-wrestlers of the 80's or 90's. Their moves are pretty clean but their matches are just too full of things like false finishes and no-selling, especially considering they're not physically impressive either (especially with their most recent EVP attires). Storyline wise, everything they do is incredibly melodramatic and childish for people nearing their 40's."

They're terrible at promos, acting, and unfortunately, we get to see a lot of that as of late. They're not good at selling, though I appreciate some of their heel work. They've had some great matches, though too often anymore their matches are so choreographed. That's not too much of a problem if you can hit your spots, and it's ugly when they don't. They also do a lot of "comedy" in wrestling, and I don't find them funny very often. They made themselves popular breaking all the rules of professional wrestling, but I think people are finding out why they were there to begin with."

[4.0] "If wrestling operated like an occasional athletic showcase, where shows took place every three months with minimal story and a focus purely on athleticism, then the Young Bucks would shine as phenomenal performers. They've achieved something remarkable for high-flyers in pro wrestling typically beloved faces throughout wrestling history by being intensely hateable heels. Their style worked perfectly in NJPW, where fans often tune in primarily for the big events. Over time, though, the Bucks have shown little growth or adaptation. Their high-octane, heel persona was effective in NJPWs sporadic format, but the constant, weekly grind of AEWs televised programming has exposed some issues. Watching their style week after week has a "fancy caviar every day" effect; what was once impressive now feels repetitive. Their in-ring style, especially in the early days, was almost revolutionary, as they delivered high-risk moves in nearly every match. They were pioneers in going all out, but this also means that newer wrestlers, many of whom they inspired, are now doing the same moves only faster, sharper, and with fresher energy. As for ring psychology, its largely absent in their matches, and thats not necessarily a flaw. The Young Bucks have always embodied the wrestling as sport and spectacle philosophy, which leaves little room for traditional storytelling. They stand as catalysts of change, pushing wrestling away from the old-school approach and emphasizing high spots and athletic display. While they've driven positive changes in locker room culture and a shift toward a modern style, they're also emblematic of the limitations of sticking rigidly to one ideology, as they've struggled to adapt in an evolving wrestling landscape."

However, I'm only rating them based on their matches. Personally, I'm not into indieriffic matches where selling is non-existent and psychology is just as lacking. They can do some nice callbacks to previous matches, but the Young Bucks are otherwise quite forgettable, especially compared to the people they surround themselves with (Omega, Cody, etc.)."

Their in-ring prowess is unparalleled, showcasing moves rarely seen from other wrestlers, and their personalities shine more during matches than outside the ring. I'm not concerned if their matches are overly choreographed or if they are labeled as "spot monkeys". I can overlook their occasional cartoonish antics such as their video game-like resilience to multiple high-impact moves, which is common in indie promotions. I'd much rather watch fast-paced chaos than a drawn-out technical match full of chokeholds or a slow big man slugfest. If the criticism is that their matches seem unbelievable, there are more significant issues to address because they execute they can sell pretty well despite the criticism they get for no selling moves. If the concern is their promo style, it simply reflects a preference for the classic pro wrestling style, which is perfectly valid but JUST AN OPINION. It holds no real value beyond being that - an opinion."

People love to dunk on them for being the poster child of non psychology, flippy floppy spot monkeys, and poor selling. A lot of that is blown out of proportion, however are definitely true to some degree especially toward the tail end of the careers. AEW Bucks especially are a mixed bag especally, when we are looking at two EVPs, two leading roles of this tag division, an indie nostalgia act that's very rare, they are just not how they present themselves make out to be. We are so far away from the peak Young Bucks almost a decade ago, that it felt lost through the times and we are only getting what's left of them now, and they will never be the ones in PWG, in ROH, leading a wave of change in the wrestling world."

The Young Bucks are a tag team that epitomizes the popular in-ring style of the 2010s indie scene - fast paced, stunt-centric matches laden with complex spots and flashy sequences. Basically every fundamental convention of wrestling is kind of absent in most Young Bucks matches, you're not going to see much heat, or anything really resembling a babyface/heel dynamic, and you'll probably see some overt cooperation between opponents. It probably won't feel like there's much animosity between the contestants, or like there's even really a competition happening in the ring. In most cases, the best you can hope to see from this team is a visually engaging exhibition of moves and stunts, and the ability of the audience to suspend their disbelief or engage emotionally with the match is sacrificed for the sake of achieving same. Luckily, that's enough for your average indie show attendee from the 2010s, but I don't think the Young Bucks function well as a fixture of a weekly televised wrestling product. There are a lot of fundamental aspects of wrestling and its presentation that they struggle with. In the right context and with the right opponent, they're definitely capable of a more functional wrestling match, but they've never been able to convince me that they know how to present themselves or how to get themselves over with anybody for whom they haven't already."

They just spit in the face of sting with this last storyline the whole way through and their current gimmick is 2000s WCW crap. Them being the highlight of a deflating tag devision now strikes me as a low point in the buisness."

[2.0] "I like how every Young Bucks match tells a story. It tells the story of "The Young Bucks were booked to win". They even get their opponents to help them tell that story because their opponents inevitably stop trying to win themselves and actively set up spots so that the Young Bucks win. Like the spot where their opponent stands around dazed for up to a minute while the Young Bucks pander to the crowd for way too long before they launch themselves in an unnecessary dive that nobody will bother to sell. Or the spot where opponents will visibly drop their character so the Young Bucks can try to hit a convoluted double-team move that just doesn't work. Sometimes it doesn't work because they botch the move badly, but sometimes it doesn't work because that sort of spot doesn't make sense in the "all wrestlers are trying to win" sense. But then you remember that the story of the match is "The Young Bucks were booked to win" and it's all okay. When things go bad they can just steal what made other people popular for the cheap pop from people that vote 10. Too bad that they try to pass themselves off as wrestlers, though."

No ones match catalogue look as great as theirs, it's incredible. Easily the best junior tag team in NJPW history and also they have clearly the Best AEW tag title reign ever. Lucha Bros vs Bucks is the best Cagematch ever. They also have the Blood and Guts match, historic best of 7 series, Anarchy in the Arena and then the premiere match against FTR in Wembley on their resume. Without them their is no legit alternative so therefore you could argue they are the most important/influential tag team of all-time."

They branded Bullet Club in such a way that made it hit the mainstream in the mid to late 2010s and they aided in the existence of AEW. They have made their fair share of mistakes, but nobody is perfect. They will most likely go down as one of the greatest tag teams of all time, and I hope their current gimmick of leaning in to the mixed reactions of the crowd goes as well as I think it might."

While I can't deny their impact on the industry, I just prefer other teams and find other teams to be better then them. I disagree with Cornette in how they are just a bunch of spot monkeys as their not. They've had some truly great matches, however I believe that their are better tags teams both all time and current. I have loved some of their matches, however I just prefer other tags teams."

They are no longer the best tag team in the world and haven't been in several years, they were a good addition to aew in the beginning years but after all the controversy i'll admit they get on my nerves more and more as they appear on my screen."
