Having friends in high places has done a lot for his legacy but he was one of the most overrated in-ring workers of his era and generally treated everyone around him like dirt. His presence was undeniable, though, and the nWo doesn't work without him. Standing next to a cartoonish Hollywood Hogan and a Kevin Nash that was always trying too hard, Hall was the anchor that they needed to have any cool factor at all, but there was always going to be a ceiling on this career due to his personal issues. No one could trust him to be World Champion and the latter years of his career are just sad to watch."

Which is odd since that is likely the place where he truly honed these skills. His best run waa with the then WWF as Razor which was good but not great but stands out in era when that promotion had very few good wrestlers. His work in the latter part of the 90's in the WCW is overrated. He did some good work on promos and as a personality. His work as a wrestler and as just a professional in general degraded. His career never really recovered from that. Lots of other wrestlers disliked him. He had a strange concept of the politics of wrestling. Hogan for instance might not work with Rude or Roberts but beyond that he never interfered with the push they might get in other areas. He and his Kliq went well beyond that and it was detrimental to the industry at the time. It was detrimental to his reputation after the fact. You can't separate him from this and his personal issues which ended up dragging him down."

Razor generally acted like a greaseball tit but was cheered vociferously anyway. And he got over with lorry loads of machismo, thousands of toothpicks, a synth theme deemed to 80s for GTA Vice City and not washing his hair for a week. Razor's Edge is a legendary finisher and one of the most charismatic to ever do it."

If somebody were to write a book and Scott Hall was a character in it, you wouldn't believe it could be a real person. In-ring wise, he was pretty damn good for somebody his size. Obviously it was a different era back then, so a lot of his stuff was "simple" but it worked so well. It's a damn shame his demons got the better of him, because if he was free of everything, then I do think we'd be talking about one of the absolute greatest wrestlers in history. It's just a shame that his demons took so many precious and important years away from him. In the end, it was good to see him finally win the battle. But it was such a tragic end to a great wrestler. Would love to rate him higher than an 8, but I just can't. Like I mentioned earlier, depsite him having a great career, a lot of important years were spent away from the business doing god knows what."

And also because so many of his best performances are so fleeting, pockets of time which he was never able to recapture due to a lack of motivation or political reasons. But when he was on, he was on, a big man who could move, with an incredible punch, selling that got the people on his side and kept them there, and a natural charisma, plus an underrated gas tank which hinted at a main event singles run which never came. The best of him only really exists for half a decade, maybe even less in truth, but the highs are so high he carves out a memorable, distinguishable career."

He was amazing and the fact he never won a World Title in the WWF/E or WCW is astonishing...But based on his personal problems..Which is harsh, I can see why. He's worked JCP, NWA, AWA, NJPW, WWF/E, WWC, USWA, ECW, TNA & AAA. He's traveled all over the world and his hard work can be seen in any ring he stepped in. His wrestling career from his debut to mid '92 can be described as lowkey. He wasn't really important and could never really been seen as anything important. When he joined WWF, his career changed. He became Razor Ramon and very soon he became a huge star for the WWF. The machismo, The cool, The danger. Everything about Razor screamed star. Vince kept a glass ceiling on him for most of his career and soon he left for WCW. He changed the wrestling landscape with the nWo and the iconic, "You want a war? You got one." Scott's career took a turn for the worst in 1998 when he became an alcoholic. Horrible storylines, bad wrestling, It was destorying his life. Things got so bad he was released from WCW in 2000. He joined WWE in 2002 for the nWo and he seemed even worse. He looked horrible and he couldn't wrestle as good as he used to. His career become unrewarding and soon he retired."

When he transformed into The Diamond Studd, he became his own man and I was instantly a fan. I wanted to see more of him but for reasons I do not know he was rarely featured (6.75). The Diamond Studd would later morph into unquestionably one of the brightest stars of the early 90's: Razor Ramon. I stand behind the Razor run (from beginning to end) as legitimately great and well worth reliving/rewatching (10). I completely despised the nWo angle and to this day HATE IT. hate hate hate! *stomps like Herman Munster* extremely turned off by that angle (0). 4.93 rounded up, had he never been a part of the nwo crap, we would likely see a higher score. Personal demons just kept after him for years and it resulted in a slow decline by 1998 that he could never break away from unfortunately. Looking back, the Razor Ramon gimmick was a little cheesy with the fake Cuban accent. They toned it down by 1994ish and honestly they never should have tried for a Tony Montana ripoff because how many mid 1990's kids would even understand that character? Founding Father of the nWo and the first member to show up on Nitro and declare war on WCW. At this point the WWF was in deep snot as WCW was going to beat them weekly in the ratings until sometime in 1998. One of the best Intercontinental champions the WWF ever had, but Hall never took the next step for the big belt. Probably bad personal habits made Vince unwilling to pull the trigger."

Whether that was the suave look that he had, the way that dressed, the cadence that he talked with, the swagger in his surf walk, the way he flicked the toothpick, the list goes on, he did it in such a way that it just made you radiate to him, and wish you could do it as good. All of his promos were done with a distinctive deliver (especially razor's with the tony montana accent), he spoke like he was speaking to one of his buddies, and everyone stopped talking to hear what he had to say. He always had a great mind for the business as well in terms of ideas, layouts of matches, the prowess, etc. There are several things that you can point to that has his finger prints on it that has longevity in wrestling - The crow sting, some of the early stuff of the NWO, the razor character, just to name a few. In ring work, he's up there among the greats as well for me because he always worked the camera, always found the best ways for them to shoot him in matches/during moves, all of his stuff in the ring was smooth, he made some of the bigger moves he'd execute look easy, his finish was always protected (no one kicked out of it), and he had some of the best working punches in wrestling."

"Scott Hall, Razor Ramon, the Outsider, this man went by many names and was great in every major gimmick he took on. Easily the greatest pro wrestler to never hold a major world heavyweight championship. That of course had much more to do with his boozing and much less to do with how over he was, go back and watch those old WWF episodes, whenever Razor is featured he gets one of the loudest reactions of the night. A great in the ring worker, he worked very tight, his stuff looked convincing and he had a great grasp of in-ring psychology that allowed him to connect with the crowd in about anyway he wanted. The man also dripped cool, everyone wanted to be Scott Hall in the 90s and with good reason. He had the look, the skills, the mouth, and was great in terms of the character work. A keen mind for the business really pushed this overboard. If not for his trouble with the booze, he likely has a much longer career, filled with many more singles titles than he had, but still, the rest of the package makes up for his lack of main event singles gold."

In the ring he was pretty terrific for a bigger guy as well; pretty rough early on his career but he picked it up very quickly and was able to pace a match very well. Needless to say his punches were up there as one the best ever, as this is usually something where you can see how fake it is but Scott's were perfect."

For pro wrestling those five criteria are power, speed, technical ability, hardcore & charisma. Scott Hall's scores: Power: 7 Speed: 6 Technical: 5 Hardcore: 7 Charisma: 7 for a total of 32 and an average of 6.4 rounded down to 6."

On the mic, it took some time for him, but by mid-1993, he was very good at it. His Razor gimmick was one of the few bareable things from the mid 90's wwf. Besides being great in the ring and the mic, he was good as both a heel and a babyface which not too many can pull off (i preffered him as a heel tho). Being involved in the NWO greatly overshadowed his talent as a singles wrestler and inhibited him from being much much bigger."

Razor for wrestling ability wasnt the best, especcially in his later years, but he was still a great wrestler in his prime, his historic/iconic latter match against Shawn Michaels just proves how good the man was. His tag team partnership with Kevin Nash as "The Outsiders" was one of the most successful, dominant, & memorable tag teams of the 1990's. Many of today's wrestlers view him as one of their idols. He is inspirational as he overcame so many personal demons. His death on March 14, 2022 hits home to me personally because he is also a HUGE part of my 1990's wrestling childhood. [7.0] "Scott might have had a great body and look, as well as a strong sense of charisma, but what was most apparent on a closer look of his capabilities was his incredible wrestling mind: a guy who came up with endlessly over spots and sequences, came up with Crow Sting and influenced the NWO greatly, and was able to have great matches despite being a so-so wrestler with a average moveset. He just knew how wrestling worked and could squeeze as much as he could from a relatively basic playbook. Ultimately, what kills him in my mind is that a lot of his work post WWF is pretty shoddy due to his mounting substance abuse problems and his once remarkable physique quickly went south along with his ability to wrestle decently. A lot of his career is a weird series of Hall being soberish for a while before going off the wagon again. Sure, he was still as charismatic as ever and could do his thing outside of the ring, but it became quite obvious that he just couldn't operate at that level he was best known for again. Thankfully he's picked himself up since then and cleaned up mostly, but ultimately I can't put him above 7, he's just not consistent enough."

He was only notable for his height in AWA and NJPW: not a bad wrestler by any means but not bad was as far as he got. In WWF he got insanely over thanks to his Tony Montana impersonation... and the mega-push the promotion gave him because of it, including puttting him in the ring with Shawn Michaels, where Scott Hall had no business being. If you want to know why the Heartbreak Kid is a serious contender for the greatest wrestler of all times, just think about this: people still consider Scott Hall a great wrestler merely on account of those matches. In WCW he fizzled away quite rapidly: his tag team with Kevin Nash was something beyond atrocious in the ring (and Hall often looked like he was nursing the mother of all hangovers) and Hall's promos quickly went from bad to worse. Without his Tony Montana impersonation he wasn't worth much. But he remained insanely popular, even long after he chose to hit the bottle instead of the wrestling ring and to this day people are still ready to cut him way more slack than he deserves. When he was away from the ring and cameras, the NWO just wasn't the same. He was one of the greatest of all time when it came to ring psychology and delivering a promo."

Really had everything that you would want in a wrestler - size, physique, moves, charisma, mic work, psychology… and all without being TOO much of a dick / baby the way HBK was. Not saying he was never a dick, but he actually helped guys out, most importantly the young up & coming guys, and he wasn't afraid to do a job. He was very smart and had great creative ideas, without being a mark for himself. The Razor character was probably the most developed, memorable, and successful WWF creation between Undertaker and Stone Cold, and IMO it doesn't get enough credit. I will always wonder why the guy had so many demons when he seemed to have so much, and I'm really glad to see him doing better now. Should be working in WWE developmental helping guide the young workers of the future."

He had the size, he had the charisma and he could work in the ring, but unfortunately he also had a problem with alcohol and he couldn't stay focused. He never got the big push that so many think he deserved, but a part of me think that's attributed to him and his recklessness. One could argue he might've been the most modest of the kliq, as he never got the kind of self rewards Shawn Michaels, Kevin Nash and especially Triple H got but I kinda wish he was a bit more aggressive backstage."

And don't get me wrong, that was part of why he was so good because you can tell how the person on TV is so natural, only a few were more natural than Hall. But at the same time, at some point it was impossible for him to work with his demons. He's still up there but not top 10. He's top 10 in a lot of aspects, like total package, charisma, mic, look etc. He (if sober) had a bad match, the dude could always go when he was in the right state. He often wasn't when his career winded out. The Outsiders/Wolfpack/nWo were rock stars at their peak and will always be iconic. I'm glad he's turned his life around, because the something about Scott Hall makes you root for him."
