Shame his final run in WWE was kind of ruined because Vince made him wait too long before getting back into the ring and by that point Kurts body started to get arthritic. Nonetheless. Kurt is top 10 for me."

His feuds in TNA are stuff of legends. His run there made TNA look legit, you know how hard that is? Kurt is simply one of the most convincing workers of all time. Period amen."

"Kurt Angle might legitimately be the most naturally gifted professional wrestler I have ever watched. Think about how ridiculous his career actually was. This was an Olympic gold medalist who entered an entirely different world, one built around characters, promos, crowd psychology and entertainment, and somehow became one of the best professional wrestlers on the planet almost immediately. Angle could do everything. He could wrestle a technical masterpiece. He could have a violent brawl. He could work comedy. He could be the most obnoxious heel imaginable and then turn around and become an absolute wrestling machine who felt like he could legitimately destroy anyone on the roster. And somehow, none of those versions ever felt like they contradicted each other. His intensity was unbelievable. When Angle pulled the straps down and locked in the Ankle Lock, you believed someone was in serious trouble. The Angle Slam was instantly recognizable. His suplexes were beautiful. His timing was incredible. And when the bell rang with another elite wrestler standing across from him, you knew there was a very good chance you were about to see something special. Angle also had chemistry with seemingly everyone. Steve Austin. The Rock. Triple H. The Undertaker. Brock Lesnar. Shawn Michaels. Chris Benoit. Eddie Guerrero. Edge. Rey Mysterio. Samoa Joe. AJ Styles. Different sizes. Different generations. Completely different wrestling styles. It didn't matter. Kurt Angle could adapt to all of them. His WrestleMania match with Shawn Michaels remains one of my favorite examples of two masters simply being allowed to wrestle. His battles with Brock Lesnar felt like two legitimate freak athletes trying to prove who was better. His rivalry with Samoa Joe in TNA had an entirely different atmosphere, it felt dangerous. That's another reason I rate Angle so highly: his greatness wasn't confined to WWE. When he went to TNA, he didn't coast on his name. He became one of the foundations of that company and produced some of the greatest matches of his career. His work with Joe, Styles and others proved that Kurt Angle wasn't great because of the WWE machine. Kurt Angle was great because Kurt Angle was great. Even his character work deserves more credit than it sometimes receives. This Olympic gold medalist somehow possessed incredible comedic timing. He could make himself look completely ridiculous one minute and then have the audience believing he was the most dangerous man in the building five minutes later. That's an extraordinarily difficult balance. And then there's the most famous part of his story: he won an Olympic gold medal with a broken freaking neck. That sounds like something somebody would invent for a professional wrestling character. Kurt Angle actually did it. If someone told me I had to build the perfect professional wrestler from scratch, legitimate athletic credentials, technical ability, intensity, psychology, charisma, comedy, promo ability, versatility and the ability to have a great match with practically anybody, I honestly don't know how far that hypothetical wrestler would end up being from Kurt Angle. There may have been bigger draws. There may have been larger cultural icons. But when we're talking about someone who seemed genetically engineered to be incredible at professional wrestling? Kurt Angle belongs in the conversation for the greatest to ever lace up a pair of boots. Oh, it's true. It's damn true."

This left me scratching my head and it was before Kurt even debuted anywhere. I always found his work in the WWE ring before he left for TNA a bit soft, like he was scared to put his opponent down on the mat with any sort of intensity, but his mic and character work was some of the best of all time. Put him right up there with Flair and Dusty. Also his ability to spit shine storyline TURDS from VKM and work as a baby face or a hilarious heel was incredible... And then he went off to TNA and went from a straight laced, nerdy virgin technical wrestler to a wild eyed, horny, unhinged, high velocity MEAT MISSILE of lucha murder? ! ? ! Incredible wrestler and turned out to be so much better than I ever could have imagined."

He is one of the best technical wrestlers ever but he could also do so much more in ring, he was a good powerhouse, a convincing brawler, and had underrated aerial skills. He could also play any role you needed him to, a convincing heel or face, and one of the funniest wrestlers on the mic ever. The fact that Dave Meltzer never gave Kurt Angle a 5 star match should be a crime against humanity. In WWE, TNA, and Japan he had so many classics it's hard to name them all."

He had amazing timing and could switch seamlessly between being serious and being one of the funniest guys on the roster. His comedic work was excellent. He was genuinely hilarious and was involved in some of my favorite comedy segments in wrestling. His first WWE run is one of the best runs any wrestler has ever had. Constant great matches, great feuds, and he always delivered when it mattered. He could work with anyone and elevate them. His TNA run was also great. Not as good as WWE, but he still performed at a ridiculously high level. Promos, charisma, comedy, in-ring work. He had everything. There are very few guys in wrestling history who were this complete."

Even guys like Flair and HBK, who were fantastic at what they specialised in, didn't feel like the complete package as Angle did in the ring. Add to that a good range of charisma that allowed for both intense and comedic roles to play, and I think, at least in the west, he is the best to have ever done it."

He was an incredible in-ring worker, but I will also remember his amazing moonsaults which were incredible for an athlete his size. He had perhaps the single greatest final exit, with the fans giving him a resounding "You suck" chant, credit to his incredible career as a heel."

I have found myself watching and praising so many of his matches (all matches during the Smackdown Six era, Angle vs HBK Wrestlemania, Angle vs Lesnar, Angle vs Taker, Angle vs Joe, Angle vs Styles , hell this man even managed to get a alltime banger out of Shane McMahon, although Shane being very talented and taking nasty bumps Angle still had a major role in making that match as great as it was). Yet somehow everytime I talked GOATS imo I mentioned Danielson, Michaels, Omega, Taker, etc. (The list has changed alot over the years). Yet somehow I never mention Kurt? WTF IS WRONG WITH ME. Let's start with his in ring work, this is obviously a 10/10 because of his previous Olympic experience. He put on 5/5 matches with everybody and didn't need to win or lose to be seen as a threat everytime he stepped into a ring, having 5 star matches with Brock Lesnar, Steve Austin, The Rock, Shawn Michaels, Eddie Guerrero, Rey Mysterio, Triple H, John Cena, Samoa Joe, and anybody else he wrestled, constantly being a great seller and could put fear into anyone's heart once that theme played. His character work is amazing, in his early years of being in the WWE he was a great comedy character and continued to a a great comedy character too but in the attitude era that was his PEAK comedy in promos he made everybody laugh no matter who he was having a promo with, in the ruthless aggression era he was still hilarious Espically with Brock Lesnar and John Cena and Chris Benoit but he also became a character to take very seriously and not as a joke. In TNA he completely turned into a kingpin, no jokes and no smiles, dominating viciously and making sure nobody stepped out of line. As for impact Kurt's impact is seen through many wrestlers (Espically Chad Gable) due to being a character who was silly in promos but a dog inside the ring which is something many wrestlers try to replicate. In the end, Kurt is pretty much is in every bodies goat case and that's for a reason. It's not Perc Angle, it's PEAK Angle."

His in-ring ability is second to none and made most of his matches feel like a wrestling clinic. But it wasn't just about wrestling. Kurt had incredible range as a performer. He could be the intense wrestling machine one night and deliver brilliant comedic segments the next, all without losing credibility. Angle always brought out the best in his opponents and elevated almost every programme he was part of."

The fact that Stone Cold Steve Austin, Jim Cornette, Bruce Prichard, and The Undertaker amongst others have stated this is quite the praise. Absolute beast in the ring and one hell of a promo. A comedic curveball in his back pocket as well rounds up his overall attributes into one of the best all around packages the industry has ever seen. Thank you Kurt Angle!"
