[10.0] "El Canek competed in a number of high profile main event matches including wrestling Hulk Hogan in his only Mexico appearance, challenging for his world wrestling federation heavyweight championship during his legendary first reign. El Canek wrestled throughout 53 year career as El Gigante de Tabasco, The Giant of his hometown Tabasco. He was trained by a butch of highly acclaimed names such as Indio Azteca, Billy Robinson, Lou Thesz and Karl Gotch, legendary deities in the square circle. Not to mention wrestling against the likes of Hogan, Fujinami, Inoki, Psycho Clown, PENTA, Sliver King, The Great MUTA, El Rayo de Jalisco Jr, Dr Wagner Jr, Mil Mascaras, Blue Demon Jr, Riki Choshu and even the eight wonder of the world himself in singles/tag action. El Canek faced them all and as of 2026 still wrestles for IWRG."

[9.0] "A major draw in Mexico and very charismatic. He wrestled an old school technical Lucha style, with some great matches based on tape"

[10.0] "As for the comment below, Ibushi and Marufuji was worse because it consisted of two (matter of fact, just Ibushi) young men flopping a match from toe to toe. Canek's match was only bad because he is old and sadly can't let go off the sport. Anyways, Canek is a legend, built around the Powerhouse litter of luchadores back in the day! I don't care if he is still wrestling at slow pace, the man made his name in la raza! His matches on New Japan were freaking great, in particular against Fujinami and Keiji Mutoh, and in Mexico, the man is a hero for all eternity! Long live El Príncipe Maya!"

[1.0] "While he can still draw some people at independent shows, Canek, at 71 years old, has no business being allowed to wrestle. In fact, for years, he shouldn't have been allowed to wrestle, even in his latest apperance for AAA, this was the case. They had to set up a ramp that led directly to the ring for Canek to be able to get into it properly. He moves very slowly, and yet he still tries to do sequences that require speed and fitness that he simply does not have anymore. The 1 point I gave him is because his name still has value, but everything else brings him down, including his ego not allowing him to take defeats. Because, you see, according to Canek, him losing is not believable, but an old man (who needs help getting in and out of vehicles) winning matches is perfectly believable. Shame on him and the promoters that book him. Also, he had a match on January 1, 2024. Ibushi vs Marufuji took place the day after. 2024's worst match of the year debate is off to a hot start!"

[6.0] "Never as good as, say, Dr. Wagner Sr. or El Solitario, but an absolutely smashing draw in UWA, to the point the promotion stuck for years to pitting him in big matches against whatever foreigner they had available, from Tatsumi Fujinami to Stan Hansen, because they could make so much money from the same formula. After UWA was absorbed into AAA Canek went into a quick decline and, apparently, his ego ballooned just as he had to dial things down. His CMLL tenure was short, utterly unremarkable and marked by Canek "feuding" with other aging legends with a big ego such as Rayo de Jalisco Jr. to the delight of no one. I am pretty sure there are still promoters ready to book him for the name alone but these days he should just sign autographs and wave at the fans."
