206.01.2024SenseiCloss1.0While he can still draw some people at independent shows, Canek, at 71 years old, has no business being allowed to wrestle. In fact, for years, he shouldn't have been allowed to wrestle, even in his latest apperance for AAA, this was the case. They had to set up a ramp that led directly to the ring for Canek to be able to get into it properly. He moves very slowly, and yet he still tries to do sequences that require speed and fitness that he simply does not have anymore. The 1 point I gave him is because his name still has value, but everything else brings him down, including his ego not allowing him to take defeats. Because, you see, according to Canek, him losing is not believable, but an old man (who needs help getting in and out of vehicles) winning matches is perfectly believable. Shame on him and the promoters that book him. Also, he had a match on January 1, 2024. Ibushi vs Marufuji took place the day after. 2024's worst match of the year debate is off to a hot start!

904.11.2021ElPolloLoco6.0Never as good as, say, Dr. Wagner Sr. or El Solitario, but an absolutely smashing draw in UWA, to the point the promotion stuck for years to pitting him in big matches against whatever foreigner they had available, from Tatsumi Fujinami to Stan Hansen, because they could make so much money from the same formula. After UWA was absorbed into AAA Canek went into a quick decline and, apparently, his ego ballooned just as he had to dial things down. His CMLL tenure was short, utterly unremarkable and marked by Canek "feuding" with other aging legends with a big ego such as Rayo de Jalisco Jr. to the delight of no one. I am pretty sure there are still promoters ready to book him for the name alone but these days he should just sign autographs and wave at the fans.
1028.09.2021MatZeClown2.0Selfish lucha libre legend that cannot let the business go and still refuses to put damn near anyone over. Sadly, an example that many lucha veterans took after. As of 2019, this man needed help to get out of his car, but still wanted to be booked strong for the sake of "realism" - it's better to remember the legend that was, not the current shell of a man.
