[5.0] "Cody Rhodes is a great in-ring worker and has decent mic skills. Everything he's done from WrestleMania 38 to WrestleMania 40 was great. I believe that he was the right man to dethrone Roman Reigns. However, he hasn't really done much after that. I think the problem was that no one seemed like a credible threat to his title run. His first feuds with AJ Styles and Logan Paul were great in-ring wise, but storytelling wise, it was trash. When he feuded with Solo, his title run started to pick up again, only for it to slightly decrease when he begged Kevin Owens to face him at Bash in Berlin. Then he teams up with Roman against the fake Bloodline and the Rock returns, which was great. Then Kevin Owens turns heel, and I feel like Cody should've lost the title to him. I mean, you could have him win it back at the Royal Rumble, and it would've benefited both men as Kevin Owens is long overdue for a title reign and Cody works better when he's chasing the title. When Cena turned heel, I thought they were gonna have a banging feud, but Cena wasn't there to build up the match so it was a mediocre feud with an even worse WrestleMania match. The Rock not committing added to this, but I get why he didn't want to commit. He wanted to face Roman, Triple H went with Cody. Then he wants Cody to turn heel and have Cena turn face, Triple H does the opposite. Cody's second feud with Cena was even more mediocre because of Cena's random ass face turn, but their match at SummerSlam was definitely the best match of 2025. His second title run was atrocious. He beat Drew McIntyre multiple times, wins by DQ against the undercard jobber Bronson Reed, and didn't have any great feuds. I'm glad that Drew took the title off of him. Cody needs to stay away from the world title scene for a while because it's clear that he just doesn't work as the face of the company. The only way I'd allow it is if Cody moved on from that stupid Captain America babyface gimmick and become a tweener or a heel. Now that I think about it, Cody should've been the one to turn heel and Cena stays the face. Because no one would boo Cena on his final year, and Cody's gimmick has been stale. It would've benefited both men if Triple H had done what the Rock wanted. Overall, Cody gets a 5/10 from me because he has the potential to be good, but that potential hasn't been fulfilled."

There have been zero clean losses since he came back, which completely kills any sense of unpredictability or tension."

Being the champion, he has had some great matches with the likes of AJ Styles, KO, and even his battles for the Crown Jewel Championship against Gunther and Seth Rollins, Rhodes continues to make his family proud along with his brother."

So many times he'll have a great 12-15 minute match that I'll really enjoy, but then he'll go 35 mins on PPV and I just lose interest. Doesn't help that I've never been able to get much into his character in WWE or AEW."

[7.0] "Cody Rhodes is presented as a bigger deal than he is by the WWE creative and the commentators. He's clearly not fit to be the main superstar of the company, under his reign the company has lost over half of its audience that it accumulated during the peak of Triple Coke's administration (2024 Road to WM and its direct aftermath). Repetitive and stagnant booking, combined with his half-assed repetitive promos ("whadduyouwannatalkabout") won't bring butts on the seats. SmackDown is dying with him as the champ. Now let's come to the in-ring perspective, he's a very good wrestler, can put up great matches and has already had a classic rivalry with Reigns. Overall, he's a solid upper-mid carder pushed to the extreme top, where he doesn't belong. So he's a misfit, but a favourite of triple coke, who prefers him to suitable top guys like McIntyre."

I didn't care about his characters in WWE, whether it was Cody Rhodes or Stardust, but what he did in ROH, NJPW, and the independent scene with The Elite, I loved. He's a good wrestler and, above all, a handsome QB and a headliner. He's one of the few things that makes me watch WWE."

[9.0] "Cody is an undeniable talent and a consummate professional - and also probably the most "relatable" champ out there, with his life and specifics (the nerdy stuff, the marriage and family, etc) largely laid out on the table. He denied and defied a backslide on the WWE card to become a name that transcends that company - and one that elevated and legitimized its main current (at time of writing) competition. *He turned The Rock heel.* And honestly, I don't think I remember any one of his matches as Champ - apart from maybe the loss to Cena - to have been a bad match. Right now, Cody's capital may be in question. The company has pushed his "QB1" status and moniker too far, and it has only really hurt him. I believe he needs less commercial stuff and more matches and personal feuds. I think that Cody is at his best when his character feels believably threatened, and when that fake smile is cracking - and it's because of how rarely the Fed believably books feuds like that that I rate him a 9 and not a 10."

"Cody is honestly someone who should be the face of WWE right now. That Undisputed Championship looks amazing on him. In-ring, he's solid, also his promos and match storytelling show the polish of years in the business. The problem is WWE hasn't really given him the storylines a champion deserves. Since taking the title from Roman, he's mostly been handed transitional opponents, with no fresh angles or proper feuds, which takes away that 2024 "American Nightmare" fire. Makes the belt feel a bit hollow. Cody's exactly the kind of wrestler future fans will look back on the same way we admire past icons. But if things keep going like this, I don't know how fired up he can really be. Of course being a QB1 of the company might keep him motivated financially, but emotionally, who knows?"

It also seems that a majority of his feuds he is out done by his opponents (AJ Styles, Roman, Gunther, Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins). WWE Does a very very good job at hiding his flaws. I also am not sold on him in the ring, he is good but doesn't do anything amazing. Now to the good, he connects very well with the audience and is a very convincing underdog, might be why he is always seems to be out done. He is good on the mic and uses anything he can get his hands on to make the feud work. And the "Finish the story" was very good and the match that went along with was amazing. Overall I don't dislike Cody, in fact I really like him and I think he fits perfectly with the WWE, however he isn't exceptional, he is a average in ring worker and is a very 1 dimensional face."

Right now it feels like his entrance is more over than he is. He's teasing turning heel just like he did in AEW and in both cases it would make perfect sense. As of this writing it hasn't hurt him with the fans in WWE so we'll see. He really shined in Ring of Honor and New Japan. At the end of the year he debuted the bleached hair and hasn't looked back since. AEW was a great place for him to show a bigger audience what he had done since his first run in WWE."

[10.0] "In what was a year filled with questionable booking and a initially promising fued, that very much could've destroyed Cody, I think the reactions he still manages to get every time his music hits, and the fact that he not only managed to hold his own on the mic with Cena, but also carry Cena in what was one of the best matches of the year in my opinion Cody just keeps proving every single person who ever doubted him wrong. Cody had my personal favorite return ever (not necessarily due to having the biggest pop or even best match) but just him man. I at the time was following wrestling still on a regular basis but I wasn't watching PLE's in full for the most parts, and the build for Wrestlemania was very anti climatic, but when I heard Seth might be having a match with the one and only Cody Rhodes (very much a talented midcarder back when I use to watch every episode and PPV) intrigued me. If it was anyone else that came out that night I would have thought well that was cool and move on. But the aura this man just exudes, mixed with the picture perfect commentary just telling everyone how high Cody's inring IQ was, Corey Graves with one of the most iconic calls ever "from Undesirable to Undeniable" and by the time Cody did the Stardust emote with yet another iconic Corey Graves call "that wasn't showboating, that was shedding skin, that was shrudding off the past, that was a fresh start for the American Nightmare Cody Rhodes" I was sold hook, line and sinker. So it was significant especially for me cause it was very much the reason I still watch wrestling and didn't stop. Regardless he then went on to have an absolute banger fued with Seth, winning the blowoff match is what was the best ever show of respect for the business. Cody wrestling with his chest looking like that, was not only a massive nod towards Seth and how well Cody regards him to trust him in that match, but was also a 20minute superhuman showcase of pure heart, strength, and it was Cody telling us he appreciates us and he knows he wouldn't be there without us, and ultimately that match went down as 20minutes of exceptional wrestling, which ended with Cody going 3-0 against Seth and Cody really elevated himself that night, Seth aswell. And since then Cody really hasn't missed a step? I was initially scared fans would start turning due to his very much emotional drama like promos initially but for the most part he doesn't do it anymore and if he does he cuts down the theatrical feel. But anyway lets recap his accomplishments since why dont we? - Cody returns from injury (the one from the iconic Seth fued) at number 30 in the Rumble. Has a very good mini match with Gunther and ultimately eliminated him to win. From there we had the start of the Roman fued which at the start was so so so good. Every promo they had, every moment they had , every interaction they had was so good. Obviously that led to the main event of Wrestlemania 39 and .. well yeah , I think everyone knows what happened by now. If we were to ignore hindsight and just go with what everyone felt at the time it happened that was very much a match edging on being regarded as a 5star banger, their chemistry was phenomenal but what was immediately overshadowed by what at the time was one of the most questionable calls ever, Cody with all his hype, the crowd support, the story .. ended up losing. The next night we had Brock turning on Cody for some reason, which led to what I actually think was a very good fued. Cody went 2-1 againt Brock which is insane cause Brock doesn't really lose matches except if its against Roman and all their matches was short but good, not amazing but solid imo. From there Cody had a few underwhelming fueds but impressively managed to stay very over and giving overall very good performances, even with his Tag Team Title win with Jey. Then glossing over the returns and everything we arrived at the next Royal Rumble. This time we had a massive storyline built in - Punk returned. Would Cody go 2 for 2 - first time in 20+ years or will Punk prevail and cement his return in what was and always will be one of the craziest roads from walking out on the company, a 7 year hatred of the company, somehow despite all that leading to one of the best returns ever. It was a very underwhelming match, but finally we ended up with the final 2 - Cody and Punk. And man did this make the prior years "good minimatch with Gunther" look like amateur work. Insane storytelling, both getting very close to the win ended with Punk uttering the words ", "I didn't wait 10 years to lose to Dusty's kid." Which was the perfect cinematic way for Cody to reverse Punk , hit his Crossrhodes and eminate Punk. And man Cody did it . First time since Stone Cold over 20years prior Cody went back to back. And man who doesn't get goosebumps seeing that part at the end where Cody pointed to Roman cementing the decision that Roman is the guy, Cody wants to run back the prior years loss. Then ofc we had the attempted swerve with The Rock returning and trying to take Codys spot in the main event, not going to go play by play with that but very notably the main thing that came from that period was the crowd actually turned on The Rock (no im not joking) and started booing him and crowds were filled with constant "We want Cody chants" which is insane. This led to Cody having 2 main events at the same Mania, night 1 being a good enough tag match that ended with Rock pinning Cody. But the next night. Cody and Romam gave us what I will always consider (I seriously dont think it will ever be topped) the greatest Wrestlemania main event, and match, and moment ever. With a WCW reminiscent overbooked 30+ min alltime banger. And the ending man. Oh my. Cody hits the 3 Crossrhoades, he goes for the pin, and as the ref counts three Michael Cole perfectly sums this whole journey up with the words "Cody completes his story" .. you could see the crowd's excitement mixed with the shock, Cody ju"

He's an ok wrestler, that usually depends on better in ring performers in order to have a great match. Furthermore, he's terrible on the mic. Every time he cuts a promo a genuinely pause the stream and go do something else, it is extremely boring and one dimensional. Cody as a heel would be better, not amazing, but better. His heel run with Legacy and later his Dashing character really redeemed him and showcased him as a solid in ring worker and a great character worker. His tag team run with his brother was pretty good and than there was the Stardust run....In which he tried his best, but that's not a character you can do much around. Going into the Indies, NJPW and AEW did Cody winders. He solidified himself as someone who could be a Main Eventer, expanded his moveset and improved himself in every aspect. He got stale late into the AEW run though, to the point that the crowd didn't want to see him which led to his WWE return. Which has been one of the best runs for any wrestler as he's THE face of the company. He's a Great babyface, he's a workhorse and can make almost anything work. Cody Rhodes has come a long, long way. [9.0] "02.04.2023 - I remember the early days on YouTube where there was a meme of Cody Rhodes' titantron with one fan standing up and clapping as he made his way to the ring. He has come A LONG WAY since then. He went from a generic babyface teaming with Hardcore Holly, to becoming a detestable heel alongside Ted DiBiase Jr., and Randy Orton in Legacy. Once Legacy ended, he really stepped up his game with the "Dashing" Cody Rhodes character and the short lived "Grotesque" version. Seemed to loose his footing within the WWE after this point, ended up with a terrible Stardust gimmick that probably would've finished him off in WWE if he didn't leave in 2016. He has proven to the world that he can do it in pretty much any promotion, even though is AEW work seems to get a lot of hate, I still think he did a decent job. His comeback to WWE has been great thus far and his Royal Rumble win just proves how far he has come since becoming the son of Dusty Rhodes. I believe he has stepped out of his fathers shadow, and only time will tell if he becomes the star he truly thinks he can be. 25.05.2025 - Rated him a 7 back in 2023, have bumped him up to a 9 because he has proven himself to being a main event level star in WWE. Has stepped it up in-ring and overall he just feels like he has reached his "final level" in wrestling. Can't foresee him being a 10 unless he goes on some insane run that lasts a good 3 years, but I think he has proven himself enough that he can sit at a 9 rating for me. Is THE guy in WWE. Fans love him, but I do fear that they'll turn against him soon-ish and we'll be seeing a different Cody Rhodes in 2026. Aside from that, he has done really, really well for himself. Instead, he chose to walk away from the comfort of WWE, rebuild his brand from scratch, and help launch a movement that changed the industry. His post-WWE grind, from Ring of Honor to New Japan to the indies, showed his work ethic and his commitment to proving he wasn't just Dusty's kid. He was his own man. Cody was a key architect of AEW's formation. Without him, AEW doesn't exist in the way it does. His passion, vision, and willingness to put others over made him both a fan favorite and a lightning rod for criticism. Even when the crowd turned on him, Cody never lost focus. He stuck to his vision and made every feud feel personal, even if the fans didn't always agree with the story. When he returned to WWE in 2022, it was a full-circle moment done perfectly. Cody walked back into the machine he once rejected and felt bigger than he ever had before. His promos hit harder. His presentation screamed main event. His feud with Seth Rollins delivered some of the best matches of the year, including his now-legendary performance inside Hell in a Cell with a torn pec. It wasn't just tough. It was unforgettable. Cody's not the best athlete or the most dynamic in-ring performer, but his storytelling, presence, and sheer emotional investment make him special. [10.0] "Cody Rhodes is my favorite men's wrestler of all time. I think one of the best ways to explain that is to look up three different "Top moves of Videos" of his. TMOW made one of almost only his WWE stuff, ThunderFilez did one of only his indie work, and World of Wrestling made one of only his AEW work, and all three are entirely different movesets, with a different style and thematic elements and throughlines in which spots he repeats and variates from. In addition to his utterly ridiculously deep moveset (by today's standards), he's had no shortage of incredible characters and gimmicks. Undashing is one of my favorite "Milque-toast to deeply creepy" reinventions ever, and the Brotherhood was one of my favorite tag teams of the 2010s. Even Stardust was deeply enoyable when it first started, and had it not gone way past its expiration date, I think would've been remembered more fondly. His TNT Title Run open-challenge-type-thing was probably one of the most enjoyable things AEW has ever done, and I really fondly remember his ROH World Six-Man Tag titles run with the Young Bucks as one of the more memorable reigns from a championship-set that is often highly forgettable. Having held titles in WWE, AEW, TNA, NJPW, NWA, and ROH, the guy has sort of all but conquered the entire modern wrestling world outside of Latin America. His weakest stuff is when he tries too hard to appeal to the "vintage" style with his Mania main events, and I'm surprised he keeps actively highlighting his weakest style. But with that said, the guy's an incredible talent, endlessly exciting, and I'm very glad we have someone at the top of the world who is profoundly enjoyable for once lol"

He can put on great matches, shows up every single week, gets good reactions and can turn the crowd on his side at the flip of a switch. In my honest opinion, he has surpassed his brother Goldust and his father Dusty Rhodes by a lot."

I can safely say he failed to fill Roman Reigns' shoes. Fortunately now we have a real champion like John Cena and the era of Stardust is over."

Always delivers with the matches regardless of opponent, John Cena levels face of the company, the man has it all. The mic work is a little bland at times, but he more than makes up for it in the ring."

AEW fans were seeing it and they probably would have stayed on board with Cody had he turned heel like they wanted. That said WWE prioritizes promo work and story telling over match quality which is perfect for Cody. The more casual WWE fan base will always eat him up. There was a time WWE fans would get tired of the same old act week in and week out and call for a change... but these days they're happy with repetition. For me Cody can deliver a good enough promo to make me forget he hasn't really done anything different in 3 years."

No. But, being the face of a company that doesn't prioritize actual wrestling, he stands out and provides hope for at least a decent match on a WWE card. When his career is said and done, I believe we will look back at him as being one of the most influential figures in professional wrestling. In a matter of three years he went from being some jarboni in face paint to one of the driving forces of a revolution."

While he'll never be remembered as one of the best, he will be remembered by many as their favorite, and as being a great character in fiction. Looking at his career character arc, he has one of the most-fascinating stories in wrestling history. If we could do decimals in our ratings, I'd most-definitely have him closer to a 9 than an 8, but he's done some truly awful work in his career, specifically his work as Stardust and his final year in AEW."

I appreciate the journey he has went on to hone his craft over the years and it's fair to say the modern wrestling industry was changed forever with his help in forming AEW. I enjoyed the Dashing Cody and Stardust gimmicks earlier in his career too. I think in terms of wrestling ability, he's above average but nothing special. His promo ability is improving year after year -- it's obvious why WWE has made him the babyface of the company -- he has a certain charm about him that makes him very likeable and easy to cheer for."

You were someone whom no one trusted, and you were considered a loser. However, by leaving WWE and finding what you truly are and believe in, you built yourself and your character. You proved outside of WWE that you are more than what people saw in WWE, and you demonstrated that to us. Now, with your return to WWE, you have become the first champion again. You have become a champion of the world. You're so good that they turned the most popular wrestlers in the world heel because of you. This is your power: to be the best as a champion."

The fact that he willingly stepped into a ring in spite of having endured a terrible pec injury and still managed to put on a career defining performance is absolutely insane. I'm just in awe of this guy. Whether the match should've happened or not, and it probably shouldn't have, is one thing. But ... the passion of Cody Rhodes is unlike any other. edit: going on 3 years later, and in all honesty, I would give Cody an 11/10 if possible. It's crazy to think that less than 10 years ago, he was still Stardust, going absolutely nowhere in his career. Then he left the WWE, and through sheer will he built a name for himself and went from being an already very good wrestler to something truly special. Cody Rhodes is the future of WWE; he is the star that they've been waiting on for many years. Not only that, but his story is downright inspiration, a true example on how anything can be accomplished if you set your mind to it and believe in yourself. Love the guy, wish he would've hit this stride just a bit younger as we probably only have a few years left of him in his prime, but the fact that I'm even able to watch someone this great is a blessing."

[10.0] "The greatest babyface of the decade. Red hot with the crowd, bleeding charisma, insanely technical proficiency in the ring, makes the crowd eat out of the palm of his hand during promos, just honestly the entire package and more. From the beginning of his career, he had promise. Due to Vince HATING Cody's family, he failed. When he left the WWE, he became a megastar on the indies in places like NJPW, ROH, NWA, and helped create AEW. Coming back, he had so much damn momentum with his feud with Seth. Winning that HIAC match with a torn pec made him a forever darling to the fans. Him winning the Rumble and losing at WM39 made people hate booking because they always wanted Cody to win. The Finish the Story storyline was great, with the Road to WM40 being so fucking surreal and once he won the championship, his defenses and storylines have been at a very high grade. Matches and storylines with AJ and Kevin were some of the best of his career, but some portions of his reign has been filler with his match at MITB 2024. He was already a WWE hall of famer at least since Fastlane 2023 when he won the Undisputed Tag Titles. He has gotten everything you want as a pro-wrestler."

The absolute face of the company and probably one of the greatest promos of our generation. No one has made a blue-eyed babyface work like this since John Cena. This mf got The Rock and John Cena to turn heel in more than 2 decades. What a babyface!"

Promos have always been his specialty, but the experience he gained in Japan, Europe and in AEW have made him a complete wrestler, who knows how to adapt to any style of wrestling and who manages to keep me attentive in all his matches, whether they are classic or hardcore stipulations. Cody is the wrestler we needed to move forward to the next era."

Cody is without a doubt the best face this company has seen since Cena, but the difference between the two white meat babyfaces is that so far Cody has not been booed by the fans. This is due to his charisma, his in-ring abilities, and how he is one of the best storytellers this business has ever seen. While he may not be everyone's cup of tea, you can't deny this man's hardwork and dedication, and I haven't even talked about how he revolutionized pro wrestling with All In. Truly one of the best of all time who won't get his full credit until years down the line."
