With that being said his ring work leaves a lot to be desired considering his frame and athleticism. He is not bad in ring but painfully mediocre. Trick can hold his own against talent better than him but if the match calls for him to lead is when your start seeing his glaring weaknesses. With that being said in a world where Jey Uso becomes World Heavyweight Champion, Trick Williams should do just fine."

Great look, great promo skills, great charisma, great connection to the crowd, but painfully mediocre and botch-prone in the ring. He's had some good matches, and I think he'll improve on that when he gets to main roster and works with more veterans, but he makes too many mistakes right now. I compare him to Jey Uso: he's very likable, but he won't get respect until he greatly improves in the ring. UPDATE: Bumped Trick from 7 to 8 because he's crushing it right now as a heel. His in-ring has improved massively over the last year and he carries himself like a young Rock. Excited to see how far he can go on main roster, he now has the total package of skills."
[4.0] "he is still green in the ring and did not improve himself in the last 2 years and actually, he got worse in the ring. just like Jey Uso, he is pretty good at hyping crowds. but nothing more. his in ring skills need a lot of work and he definitely needs a believable finisher. i think he has the talent to became a upper mid card guy in main roster."
[6.0] "I have a lot of respect for the guy, he made himself a legit superstar in NXT, even surpassing the levels of popularity of his former ally Carmelo Hayes. The charisma and the promos are there, but the problem with Trick is that he is only good when he shares the ring with someone that is levels above him (watch the matches against Ilja Dragunov and you will see). The past year saw him turn heel and evolving his character, but the matches became very poor, especially the feud against Eddy Thorpe and Joe Hendry. I hope he can recover himself, because I see someone who can main event Wrestlemania."

He's charismatic, he's genuinely cool, which is so hard in wrestling, the kicks and power moves make for some really hard hitting, distinctive offense, and I think he tells a good story in the ring. He's improving week to week, on the mic and in the ring, and I think he's a 10 already. I hope he lives up to his potential on the main roster."
[7.0] "Trick has the potential to be the next John Cena of the WWE, for both good and bad reasons. He has the looks, the charisma and even a similar gimmick with rapping and making music, but he still feels too green in the ring, and at this point I'm not sure he'll ever get better at it. His run as TNA champion has been very criticized, specially when you consider the politics of the TNA/NXT collaboration, but I think Trick has shown that he can be both a face of a brand and a "cool" heel and still manage to connect with the audience. His initial rise as a singles stars is a perfect example of what he is. He got over organically and showed lots of charisma, but when it came to the actual matches between him and Carmelo Hayes, pretty much all of them felt underwhelming."
[5.0] "Trick looks like a million bucks, has a great entrance theme, and is very athletic. So were a lot of people before him and they all disappeared. His promos are dreadful. That's the major problem with WWE being the only place you've worked and trained. Promo classes there really only teach you how to stand and use the camera. Backstage or in the ring. TNA putting their world title on a trainee from somewhere else is as bush league as it gets. Trick isn't ready for that. If he was, he'd be on the main roster."

[2.0] "He is a THAT kind of wrestler, catchy theme song, catchy phrase, mid wrestling skills, he has good mic skills, but his in ring quality is real low, you could see it while he was the nxt champion, the title was too big for him, his first reign was mid, the second reign was bad, and now he won the TNA World Title, Like if he had two bad title reigns, why not give him a third one, come on. His opponents always have the task to make him look good, specially on one on one matches, because he can't do it by himself, he's still a rookie."
[3.0] "He has potential, he's in NXT for a reason, but the truth is he hasn't evolved at all. He's good on the mic, and that's it. When the bell rings, you realize how green he is. He is a two-time NXT champion, had two disappointing reigns, and contributes little to nothing wrestling-wise; he's just a catchy entrance theme, and that's it."
[4.0] "Proof that you can get wrestling fans to chant anything. Seriously. His chant doesn't even make sense. I feel like the only reason he even got the push & has a decent amount of fans lies solely on the fact that he has that chant. He has a great physique. Beyond that, I find trouble coming up with many positives. I think he's dull as dish soap & has been coasting off the heels of Carmelo ever since the pair was a thing. He might get my vote for worst NXT champion in that title's history."
[4.0] "I don't really get the hype around Trick Williams. He moves well, he's got a catchy catchphrase, and he's a solid promo. But he might have the lowest hit rate of any finishing strike I've seen because I have not once seen this man connect the "Trick Knee". Sure people may sell it, and he may win with it, but he never goes full contact with it, which as a fan of stiff wrestling, it kinda just makes me feel blasé about him about his work as a whole. Also his moveset is not quite impressive and his style is maybe a bit too cooperative for my liking. But hey there's always a chance to improve whens he's barely half a decade in his career."
[5.0] "I'm pretty on the fence about Trick Willy. On one hand, he ALMOST has everything to make him a main-event star. His theme is a little basic, but the "Whoop That Trick" chants really elevate it to the next level; he's pretty over with the crowd, he can cut really good promos, and he's pretty charismatic. On the other hand, he's pretty bland in the ring-- nothing too special about him. I feel as if the quality of the match he's in depends on who he's facing. If he's in the ring with other great superstars, (Fatal 4-Way at Heatwave for example) then it can be a pretty good match, but if he's in the ring with someone who isn't that good, then it'll show in the match. Trick will be one of the top guys, not because he can wrestle, but because he's popular with the crowd."

[5.0] "He has the crowd connection (for some reason) but that's absolutely all there is when it comes to Trick. One of the most boring NXT champions ever and he has only had good matches with the likes of Ilja Dragunov. It's frustrating to witness how hard he gets pushed man"
[6.0] "He's got a ton of charisma, but his in-ring work is so hit-or-miss that it really holds him back. It's to the point where I feel like he's actively dragging down the NXT Title Scene with how lackluster most of his matches are."

Will be interesting to see if he can keep that up when he eventually moves on up, unless they want him to work on top as a heel first. Hopefully he can develop more in-ring, as his matches at the moment can sometimes drag until the big comeback. This could change, in either direction."
[8.0] "I really think there is something special about Trick Williams and this generation of NXT in general to be fair. Trick isn't the best in the ring, but with even a slightly better opponent he can step his game up to match them, he can sell in matches extremely well, his facial expressions are unbelievable (Deadline 2023 is a Prime example). His promos are great, he carries himself like a star but his main asset is his connection to the audience, you can't train for that, you either can or you can't and Trick Williams, probably more than anybody else on the roster, CAN. The fact he is only 30, been wrestling for 3 YEARS, and is still able to do all of this, including getting the main roster fans on board with him from his single appearance! Trick Williams is a future WWE Champion if he can keep his longevity at it for 10 years no doubt about that."

[7.0] "One of the fastest rise in NXT history. Trick Williams went from "Sidekick of one of the best NXT wrestler" to "Future main eventer with one of the best NXT wrestler as HIS sidekick". I give him a rating of 7/10 for now, because even if I find him very great and very charismatic, he still has some limits to break. I know he can do even better. His moveset ? Awesome. His mic skill ? Very good. His entrance theme ? One of the best today. Everything coming from the fans ? The "Whoop that trick" chant is just catchy as hell. How he is presented ? Man, when you have Booker T at the announce table who does some ad libs like he is gonna spit some bar, you know that wrestler is something different. This comment is posted the day after NXT Vengeeance Day 2024, and Melo's heel turn on him. Trick Williams is gonna be the Johnny Gargano to Carmelo Hayes' Tommaso Ciampa. I see a very bright future ahead for Trick."
[8.0] "Will probably rate him higher as his career goes on. Right now he's doing some great work and showing a ton of potential. Probably the most exciting prospect in NXT."

While at the beginning of the year Trick Williams really stood out for his great work as a comedic heel manager to a more serious Carmelo Hayes and nothing much more, he somehow managed to have the most explosive growth I've seen in wrestling yet. Trick Williams has managed to become debatably the most over NXT wrestler currently almost purely by his excellent mic skills, which even through stumbles of excitement never feel forced or scripted, and almost seem like something that Matrick Belton believes in or would say himself. He's also a good worker too, being able to bump and sell his ass off, get in great offense, and pull the crowd into his favor once again all without having to do anything particularly dangerous. Overall, Trick Williams is in the upper tiers of NXT's homegrown wrestlers and, if you're asking me, is going to be WWE's next black superstar. He's even starting to overshadow Carmelo Hayes, which they've been working into a storyline for some time now. Damn shame about that NA Championship title reign though."

With Nash is that he never really bothered to try, with Trick is that he's a true rookie unlike Melo. His personality and mic have been carrying him greatly but i do believe he has so much potential, a raw diamond in the flesh. He barely passes right now in my book but this guy just has IT"

"I think this guy could be somewhat of a star in the future. The issue is that he is 28 years old and still learning the basics. If he can pick things up and become a solid in-ring worker then he could be great. Why? His look and charisma are simply top shelf. A complete natural with talking and acting - he's really funny and entertaining, and plays his role as Carmello's buddy/sycophant really well. Let's hope he improves in the ring, but I would still want to see him on programming as a manager or something, he's just that entertaining to me."
