"Garcia is a more than competent technical wrestler, and it's a huge pleasure to watch his blend of inventiveness, athleticism, endurance, and moxie. While he may not have a distinct gimmick or incredible mic skills, his personality speaks for itself. He's emotional without being brooding, and balances both his machismo and his dramatic, effeminate moments. Knows when to work the crowd and when to get down to business. I don't need to be convinced that he's a tough guy, and I think those who read him that way may be misled. So happy he's free of the JAS. He deserves consistent airtime in AEW and enthused fans in/at other shows."

Still he's a perfectly good hand to work with the stars but not enough to be too competitive or outright go over like the bizarre feud with Danielson he had which led absolutely nowhere and arguably has done damage to Danielsons drawing power to this day."

[8.0] "Fantastic wrestler but incredibly uninteresting at the exact same time. I am aware on paper about his talent and I see it in the ring but I do not care about him whenever I watch him wrestle. He is very young and could learn to improve on those weaknesses but until then I cannot rate him any higher than 6 EDIT: This post was written before Daniel Garcia's very noticeable growth in late 2022 and 2023. While he has not shown the main eventer potential certain fans keep proclaiming he has, he has shown that he is much better than I expected. 8."
[7.0] "Great ring skills, always love some technical wrestling, but like many technical wrestlers, he has no charisma; he recently does an embarrassing dance to hide it a bit but it only makes it worse. When he does promos, he makes them decent, at least when he speaks in a normal way and not forcing a heel voice to try to get people to dislike him. It is ironic that Chris Jericho has made a stable of "Sports Entertainers" and has recruited the wrestler with the least sports entertainment on the roster."
[10.0] "Everything is really clicking together for DG. The sports entertainment storyline has really allowed him to hone his entertaining and character skills. The wrestling is excellent and he is a wonderful technician to watch in the ring."
[8.0] "He is getting there, and fast. When he debuted in AEW, he had the technical wrestling down but was a bland character. The pairing with loudmouths Parker & Menard did him wonders, but ultimately what helped him more was what many people seem to hate: his inclusion in the Jericho Appreciation Society. While in that stable, Garcia developed a character and recognizable traits that the live crowd can react to and help everyone remember him. His wrestling is still excellent. In a couple of years, Garcia is going to be a star."
[1.0] "A very big disappointment. Garcia is terrible on the mic, worse than any "rookie" I've ever seen. Unlike Yuta, Garcia is bad all over and that's a huge problem hindering his future, and on top of that, he's not developing at all. Yes, he's not bad at grappling, he's seen a couple of Volk Han chips and that's cool, but it's trivial enough, extremely little. Charisma is either there or it's not, and in this case it's not there. You'll see a huge number of memes about how Garcia works the mic and everyone will mock him. His problem is that I personally don't see him as a prospect, he hasn't changed at all unlike Yuta. I cite Yuta as an example, obviously, because they are of the same generation and it is the two of them that should be compared. Utah originally looked like he had no future, but the guy found himself, unlike Garcia who can't be helped by anything, not even Jericho. He looked a little good next to Bryan, but guys, who's going to look bad next to Danielson? There are too, too many questions for him by every criterion you can think of, Yes, the guy is a smark, he loves Volk Han and I love Volk Han, but men, he needs a lot of work on himself, for I think even Tony Khan is starting to get frustrated with him."
[6.0] "I go back and forth on this dude. Idk if it's a result of booking, or a lack of compelling character work, or both, but he runs very hot and cold in my interest. He's a good wrestler, and has had moments when he was on the verge of breaking out (YOU'RE A PRO WRESTLER! ) but ultimately something just... gets fumbled."

Being attached to Jericho's hip for over a year didn't give him any charisma so I don't think anything will at this point. Just let him carry ROH or something, Tony."

Not a big deal on its own but when he's hyped up as this master technician, that impression is weighted more towards the negative side. For someone who has styled himself as a striker and a technician, his offence looks rather weak and his holds don't give off the impression of a combatic struggle - instead being very performative and feels like 2010s ROH midcarder. Other than the company stating very clearly that he's the future, I don't get much of that. There is time to grow and develop but care has to be taken. And quite frankly, his back and forwards booking isn't helping. Not terrible, rather decent. More a Cedric Alexander (not stylistically, ofc) than a Bryan Danielson"

He is 100% a great technical wrestler but a little more promo work could definitely help. My favorite match of his is against Bryan Danielson 2/3 Falls."
[8.0] "Daniel Garcia is fun to watch, and can really deliver in the ring. I feel like he'd be at home more in the BCC rather than the JAS, but it is what it is. He has decent charisma, but desperately needs work on his promos. This guy's got big things coming, that's for sure."

[7.0] "There is just something about Daniel Garcia. When I first saw him, my reactions were like many; what's the big deal? Then I noticed it in everything he does; the same swaggering heel ability is consistent across all he does. He's a sneering, mean, nasty guy and it comes out in all he says and does out of the ring, and, most importantly in the ring. The Danielson elbow strikes look meaner when Garcia does it with a sneer. He has shades of Eddie Guerrero as he uses ropes to his advantage or strikes his opponent in frustration after a near fall. Add to all of this an arsenal of moves he employs with that same dirty, greasy brutality and you've got the makings of a nice little nasty heel. His mic skills need work and he needs to ditch the weird hats, but, dude can be a legit heel in a place like RoH because he can sneer at the honor and hang with the technical guys all the same."

He had an incredible year on the indies in 2021 having a great match with JD Drake and the hour draw with Yuta, then he went to AEW and had great TV matches with Punk and Kingston. In 2022 he became even better having great matches with Danielson, Moxley, being apart of anarchy in the arena and being one of the best parts of blood and guts, I can not wait to see where he goes from here."

He's trying to be a Funaki/Maeda and failing massively: he just doesn't have the legitimacy, charisma or even a inch of their experience to work off. His stuff is mostly bland and even Bryan Danielson couldn't make him engaging as a act, which is a serious issue. I'll give Simon Gotch all the shit in the world for his obsession with trying to be a UWF-lite tough guy but at least he can pull it off semi-decently in small portions. He's just another generic technical worker with no actual agency to work his technical stuff in a manner that's interesting or focused. If this guy and Wheeler are the future of wrestling, it's going to be very, very dull indeed. Hopefully his JAS work will allow him to show off his stuff in a different manner."
[4.0] "To be honest i have never really been a very big fan of Daniel Garcia, you can obviously see he got some skill. I just don't see anything too special in him."
[8.0] "I think a lot of the complaints with Daniel Garcia come from him not being super in-your-face. At 23, he has a pretty solid understanding of psychology and most of the stuff he does makes sense in ring. He's very skilled in the field of technical wrestling and has a moveset that isn't over the top. I think his recent Ring of Honor sitdown with Wheeler Yuta proved he can talk on the mic, but it is extremely weird that he hasn't shown that same Daniel Garcia on Dynamite. While his charisma or lack thereof may put some people off of him, he's extremely talented in the ring at 23, proven that he can speak on the mic when needed to, and his current gimmick of being a Sports Entertainer is pretty entertaining as it gives him a character thats not just "I can technical wrestle good." I think in all of AEWs newer younger talent, Garcia is not only the most impressive, but has the most potential. He reminds me in a lot of ways of shittalking, asshole Bryan Danielson from many years ago. He also has natural swagger."
[4.0] "If I had to describe Daniel Garcia with one word it would be BORING in all caps. The dude has absolutely no charisma or character. No reason to get invested, facial expressions are non existent. Promo ability is below average. His look isn't bad but it's very forgettable. Yes he's only 23 and has time to grow but charisma doesn't come with age. In the ring he is decent at best. He can have a fine match with the right opponent, but his offense in general is very unconvincing. He has been featured in a ton of TV main events over the past year and only one of those matches impressed me at all, and it was because his opponent (Bryan Danielson) carried him hard. Overall Garcia is a talent with a lot of potential. Whether he will realize that potential without being shoved down viewers throats is the main question here though."
[9.0] "There? s so much potential here. He? s a natural heel. There? s a grittiness about Danny that gives him a certain swagger. He? s been on the rise, and hopefully we can see this guy become a star in the near future. He definitely has the right tools."
[8.0] "Another commenter said it, but it does bear repeating. To this point, Daniel Garcia's best work has come outside of AEW. However, that does not mean that his AEW work has been bad. It's often been quite good. Garcia's best solo matches in AEW (with Eddie Kingston and Jon Moxley, respectively), are great showcases of his skill, and the former was one of AEW's better TV matches of 2021. Like Lee Moriarty and Wheeler Yuta, it feels like he was a huge fan of Ring of Honor's peak, and I think he's part of the first generation of wrestlers where Bryan Danielson's influence is clear. His issue, like all young wrestlers, lies in his mic work. He's 23 years old and has been a featured player on AEW TV for about 10 months now, so he's clearly not going to be a master on the mic yet. Most 23-year-old wrestlers are not incredible promos (not everyone can be Samoa Joe, CM Punk at that age). But he's rapidly improving, and working with someone like Chris Jericho, a man who's been one of wrestling's all-time great promos for nearly three full decades at this point will only help. Garcia is absolutely one to watch, and whenever his promos come along, he will be one of the stars of the next generation."

The dude is a fantastic in ring worker and one of the few AEW guys that get me to feel much of anything. I like him on the mic and the dude is genuinely hilarious. He's mic work isn't very good; like, he really needs to work on his cadence. He's young and lots of time to develop, so I hope I'm proven wrong in the future. But right now, I don't get the hype."

But he earns one of the best positions as one of the most technical wrestlers in current pro wrestling, wrestling is good but he has no mic-skills or charisma, although as a heel he does quite well."

Has a very good move-set and can already have very good matches at 23 years of age ! I've read that some commenters are pointing out that Garcia is "lacking personality". That's the point about that "archaic gimmick": There is no personality or flashiness needed, as he portrays a no-nonsense wrestler. Will only continue to improve. 9 points for what's already there at that young age."
[4.0] "If we adhere to the Bret Hart/Kurt Angle system that 1/3 of wrestling is in-ring, 1/3 is charisma and mic work, and 1/3 is gimmick/storyline/personality, he could be the best in-ring performer in the world and top out at a 4 because he has no personality. I realize he is young, but his AEW stint thus far has been challenging people way outside of his league and losing, while not doing anything noteworthy in promos and generally being just another guy. Jericho sees something in him, and we will see how the JAS stuff elevates him, but people are willing to crown him as the next big thing today when today he is just boring,"

Eddie Kingston has a had belters with him, Danielson had a fantastic match with him, and so on and so forth. Red Death is a technical menace that just keeps getting more and more vicious."
[8.0] "Everybody is so harsh on this kid, hes only 23 years old and light years ahead of some of the older talent on the roster. Anyone that doesn't see a young star when watching him is clearly blind. Excellent technician who is improving his mic skills."

I don't really feel any sort of excitement when I watch him in the ring, because his movements and facial expressions, or lack thereof, are that of a guy just going through the motions. He's not bad either, is more technically sound than most of his peers who should be trying out for the Olympic gymnastic competitions. He's bringing down one of my recent favorite tag teams 2.0 by associating with them and that seriously sucks."
[4.0] "Not very impressive to me. I have seen him in ICW No Holds Barred and he's probably the only wrestler that I didn't care for there besides Brett Ison. I have also seen him in AEW and he just seems boring there to me. Maybe I have seen the wrong matches, but I have no idea how he actually won 2020 IWTV Independent Wrestler of the Year. All his matches that I've seen have been uniteresting and boring. Sure he's somewhat skilled in the ring, but he doesn't seem to have much power in the ring to pull off any power moves, he has no mic skills from what I've seen, and not much personality either, and he just seems very plain to me."

[9.0] "Daniel Garcia is the near future of American wrestling epitomized. We are seeing more and more young wrestlers from the indies who adopt a viscous technical style, and Garcia is the best one of them. But what sets him apart from not just other young workers, but the vast majority of veterans, is his ability to incorporate raw emotion in his match, either through his facial expressions or his selling. Four years into his career, he wrestles with ten years of experience, and he will only improve."
[5.0] "There's a promising 6/10 wrestler in Garcia somewhere, but his insistence on playing some wannabe 'hard man' shooter is really off-putting. He makes all those 'dark' and 'gritty' expressions and tries to be what he considers looks 'serious', but he has the look of a middle-schooler and thus comes off incredibly dorky as he tries to be some elite-level grappler. His selling is as goofy as his character work, being far too melodramatic to look like he's actually in real pain or distress, thus detracting from his opponents' attacks. I admit that he's got some good grappling skills, but that's the only saving grace with him. In a world of Sabres, Greshams, and various wrestlers whose personality traits include that they're "good at real wrestling", Garcia offers nothing unique, at least not yet. The way this guy was so heavily pushed in AEW by going up against the likes of Darby, Moxley, Punk, and Kingston was absurd. I get that he at least shows promise as someone so young, but damn could he not have first worked his way up to getting such big-time matches... He instead just comes across as the booker's pet, getting heavy favouritism and showcase time despite not having earned any of it. Hopefully this kid can gain a bit of mass and improve his acting skills, because I do still think there's a very good wrestler in him a few years down the line, but for now I find him very eyeroll-inducing."
[9.0] "Astonishing he is already this good with only 4 years of experience. 2021 has been a great year for him. Had some amazing matches in Limitless on a title run, a great one hour draw for IWTV title with Wheeler Yuta which is far better than it had any right to be with two wrestlers so young and such a long match. Also had dream matches against the likes of Suzuki. We also got little peeks at his ability in AEW. He has a very very high ceiling."
[7.0] "He works very well in the ring, but if he works in the character, if he encourages in the mic a bit more and if he increases a little more of muscle, he will undoubtedly be a great star here in a short period of time."
[9.0] "I am very enthusiastic about this guy He has had some of the best matches in the US indies this year and has also been on a tear in AEW. If he develops in the promo and character area, he could reach top tier status. But if he doesn? t improve in those areas, then that means that he isn? t a 9, not just yet. That should be a good indicator of how talented he is and how much confidence promoters have on him. And he is still bound to improve even further for the next couple of years. I see a bright future for this guy and if Tony Khan decides to sign him he could be one those 'young pillars' for the company among names like Jungle Boy and Darby Allin."

From amazing epics vs JD Drake in Limitless to fun tv sprints to c show bangers vs Moriarty to everything in between, feels like he's breathed fresh life onto the dying garden that is modern indie wrestling so he's getting a ten out of ten, and I don't care who thinks that's slightly too high"

He excels at small technical moves that shift the balance in the ring ever so slightly. My favourite trick of his is how he always attempts to immediately start in the middle of the ring and corner his opponent (compare his match above with his recent match with Moxley, who overwhelms him for it). His weakest spot is promos. He has an intensity, but I think it just need a little shine. Definitely a Blue Chipper."
