[3.0] "He's a decent wrestler but his attempts to look and act tough are hilarious and ridiculous. He can cut a promo and he's about as threatening as a box of kittens and has the physique of one too. I'm sure he's a nice guy outside of wrestling but he's grossly out of place in the last two factions he's been part of. He works best as a slimy manager type who interferes. Aside from that he looks like a fifth grader hanging around the juniors and seniors and puffing his chest out from behind them. Maybe that's the heat(tm), brother brother but I stop paying attention when he's in the ring."
[7.0] "A solid hand in the midcard, pretty much Daniel Garcia's long lost twin that doesn't do anything bad, but I think he will end up leaving in time hoping he can go farther elsewhere..... Because there is something missing that keeps the glass ceiling above him and his weird hentai protagonist hair isn't the slight reboot he needed..."
[3.0] "Very young guy so definitely a lot of upside especially with his good in ring ability, but so severely lacking in so many things that its almost absurd to watch the guy on TV. Anyone can get over in a singular match by having a 50/50 with an established legend and using copious amounts of blood, but the actual work of building after that was not up to wheeler. Some of the blandest promos that i may have ever heard have come from this guys mouth. His recent attempts to look "badass" are as hilarious as cringe inducing in an already bad Death Riders gimmick. He needs to have a gimmick change and maybe a good manager."
[3.0] "The guy has little to no charisma, looks like he can't fight of a fly, isn't a great in ring prospect, isn't an interesting character and is constantly pushed down our throats. He's young so there's always room for improvement but, I just can't take him seriously as a wrestler. The Death Riders stuff has been no help as he has gotten literal go away hit with his constant interferences in Main Event matches. You already have a Green, Young technician with Garcia who is better than him. Wheeler sucks, that's all I can say dor now"
[5.0] "I almost feel bad for Wheeler. No, he's certainly not my favorite, but he's someone who was pushed down our throats to an annoying degree, which resulted in fans turning against him. It didn't feel like he gained his spot naturally. But he was someone who Tony liked, so he saw a push before fans wanted to naturally give it to him. I'm not sure what it will take for him to win fans over at this point. I can't give him anything above a middle-of-the-road grade, as I do find him mostly annoying when I see him show up. But I also don't want to rate him lower, as he's not bad in the ring & might be able to make something of himself if he finds his own voice someday."
[9.0] "Wheeler Yuta is a decent technical wrestler and a solid hand for a heel stable. He's very fluid and safe to work with, and he has a good bit of agility and a versatile movepool. I don't understand why people feel he's boring other than his promos not being incredibly strong, but in Death Riders he doesn't have to be a great talker on his own. He has heel psychology down well and he's constantly ruining matches via interference, making him a heat magnet. The crowd loves to boo him when he enters the ring. I personally like his look but agree that he could have a better physique. He's just barely more intimidating looking than Spike Dudley."
[4.0] "As a wrestler he clearly has technical ability and I appreciate that, but I don't believe him on the mic. AEW has been putting him into more and more prominent positions and it's duller each week. I'm not a fan of the way he's been used and his character lost the potential he had when he turned on Bryan despite seemingly being so distraught by the rest of the BCC. I was excited for what could happen if he developed any complexity and then he immediately morphed into another generic heel. It's tiresome to see him in the position he has."
[4.0] "I don't know why AEW is trying to make us think he's legit. Sure, his match with Moxley was good, but I still don't see him as a future AEW star, I just don't. He's a good wrestler, but he's mostly just the punching bag for the Death Riders, even in the Combat Club he was their punching bag."
[6.0] "He hasn't reached his prime yet and I'm sure he has yet to reach his ceiling, though I haven't been too impressed by him. He's alright though, I wasn't high on him that much since I saw his performance in The BOSJ 2022."
[4.0] "A lot has changed since i last rated yuta and boy has he gone down several pegs since i last rated him, he just looks like such a nobody and is treated like such at least in 2022-2023 he was having decent matches in ROH and rampage but now he is just a basic jobber henchmen. BUT i am not asking for him to be booked like a megastar infact the role he has right now in AEW is way too high up on the card for someone who has no personality or character like YUTA, I think the angle with him and Bryan could of been good because he looked so genuinely hurt by the betrayal of bryan by the BCC but instead he is just generic heel #9. keep him on ROH and stop tryna make him a terrifying heel."
[4.0] "With all due respect, Wheeler's a long way from being a '10', which is generally a rating saved for the likes of Ric Flair, Ricky Steamboat, ect. Wheeler's got potential. He just doesn't stand out though, and looks seriously out of place in Moxley's new group."
[2.0] "I'm sorry, why in the hell does this guy have a 7.19/10 rating? Literally why? What is there to like about this guy? I remember not one single thing he's done. No memorable promos, segments, or matches. I do not understand it at all. He's literally called "Wheeler Useless" by a segment of people because he's just that! He does nothing, adds nothing to the shows or matches he's in, and he's not missed when he isn't there. The only thing he's ever done of note is interfering in Moxley's shite. That's it."
[4.0] "I really struggle to see what other people see in this guy. He's not very good in-ring and he doesn't have a good, recognisable look about him. Whenever I've seen him in the Blackpool Combat Club or Death Riders, he just seems kind of there. Everybody else looks the part, but this guy just looks like a fan who works a 9-5. Do not understand the appeal, and I highly doubt he'll become a big name in professional wrestling. Permanent midcarder."
[10.0] "He is the i 1b t Dan Garcia 1 b in numerous ways not becsue there happen to sahre one of match of the years the one good thng for yuta is hes booked better tha dan in AEW. You can see were alot of influences of how he works from his trainers Likeaeag t Gulak quack and his one-time tag partner Hot Sauce Tracy Williams. he super smooth in the ring. Thus produces great match when give the time too while have gone back and seen some of his earlier work. The first time is saw as it happenedd was the final of the Tournament for tomorrow's match of his partner. at the time . and he's has been great since he has you have match of the year like he has 100%100 me in his a low end 100/100 but still ophe t what od you mean i low end is some was as low and say a 90% of would argue, but any lower of that lower than that i would raise an eye.."
[9.0] "Wheeler Yuta is close to getting a 10, I give him 9 because I know he can get even better. Already incredible with a very unique style before AEW, he first served as a jobber while finding the right story to launch him. The BCC was this good story, it was perfect to have a young wrestler alongside a legend of the discipline to raise him, giving more than that has always served the narrative and he has always played wonderfully the young wrestler who learns from the other 3 ultra rough guys. He is very good, he is credible, he is promised much more, he has obtained charisma, he is excellent."
[6.0] "Für mich ein Paradebeispiel für Farblosigkeit am Mikrofon, im Ring, vom Charakter und Look. Keine Ahnung warum AEW in so Pusht. Er ist sehr Austauschbar."
[7.0] "A super fun up-&-comer with an original style whom was elevated to mainstream relevance with his recent addition to AEW. A great partner for the Blackpool Combat Club, & I hope for a day that they give him a strong singles push. Constantly working to get better and bring innovative, fun offense to the table. I'm a big fan, & I want nothing but the best for this dude. He is very promising."
[5.0] "Spent basically all of his AEW career directly positioned next to top guys and is still not any more over than he was on day one. He is a perfectly fine wrestler but that doesn't do much in a stocked roster. He is just a charisma black hole. I suspect he will be knocking about ROH within 2 months of the BCC breaking up."
[6.0] "Every time I see this dude I feel like I'm looking at a little puppy simply due to how small/young he's able to look (even with a full beard) compared to his contemporaries. A very capable technician and ring performer, but I honestly could not tell you much about his character besides that he's an underdog with a chip on his shoulder. It might have to do with his very much-to-be-desired promo ability, but I've been imagining the possibilities involved with a serious singles run away from the BCC, but that'd be a sure test of his ceiling, at least in AEW."
[7.0] "An extremely promising and talented young wrestler. Good in the role of a never give up babyface and pest like heel. Fits in perfectly with the BCC and I'm excited to see how how his career goes from here"
[5.0] "Never been able to get behind him. One of the worst wrestlers Ive ever seen on the mic, and in my opinion his in ring isnt good enough to make up for it. Ive never cared about a Yuta match, hes just boring and not unique in any way. Easily stands out as the weak link of his own group"
[6.0] "Wheeler Yuta surely can wrestle, he's decent in the ring, but the fact is that without the incredible company that he has with Blackpool Combat Club he can do few good things on his own, and seems unable to grow as a wrestler, even with those heavily talented teammates behind him."
[5.0] "He's a really good wrestler but unfortunately he's on a roster full of GREAT wrestlers who can also talk. Yuta can't promo his way out of a paper bag and sounds like an unbelievable geek when he tries. He's the ultimate indie guy and doesn't belong on national TV."
[8.0] "Definitely has improved a lot over the past two or three years, now believable as a technical wrestler with no problem playing dirty if it means he comes out on top. A solid heel persona is also a plus."
[6.0] "Wouldve rated him higher because of the story with the BCC but it seems like is just there to be the jobber of the group instead of being elevated by the others. Almost if not in a worse spot than when he was with the Best Friends."
[9.0] "People love to hate on him for getting pushed instead of their favourites, but he's a young guy with great skill who's getting better every time he steps into the ring. He's not even in his prime yet and he wouldn't be in the BCC if they didn't think he has a lot of potential and if he's not a hard worker. The opinions of Claudio, Mox, Bryan, and Regal mean a lot more than random fans who have never stepped foot in a ring. And he's also not problematic, unlike a lot of young guys these fans want to see pushed."
[4.0] "Another case of good wrestler, but is uninteresting when it comes to everything else. Bland look, no charisma, and a mediocre talker. Comes off as just a guy and not someone to be interested or invested in. He has no presence when on television as he is just plain."
[6.0] "Hmm. I like him, but he needs polishing. Working with top guys will certainly give him a leg up, but his greatest deficit is not in ring work, but character. He's better as a sneaky little shit than a face, but there's still charisma or something in his presentation that's missing."
[6.0] "I've seen only a few Yuta matches and he's above average, not bad at all by any means, but his heel turn feels like it came completely out of nowhere and it's very unfitting to his character."
[5.0] "He's not bad at all but I really don't see what about him stands out in a way to put him in the position he's in now. I really do not like his character in the BCC which is a shame because I'm big fans of the other 3 members of the group. Something about him as a heel just isn't it."
[8.0] "I like Wheeler YUTA a lot. Definitely is a better face than a heel. Technically he is a lot better than most of his peers. Still very young and improving. Promos are where he needs the most work but he has improved those since signing with AEW. He has the potential to be one of the biggest stars in pro wrestling if he keeps on his protectory."
[10.0] "Nobody seems to realize it yet but Wheeler YUTA is basically the Eddie Guerrero of his generation. All he needs at this point are a few career-defining wins to go with his last stand against Moxley and his long-term, low-key rivalry with Garcia."
[8.0] "Yuta is a very good pro wrestler with a lot of upside in my opinion. Excellent technical wrestler and someone the fans can get behind. Being with the BCC will really help him in the future when it comes to his development. My personal favorite match of his is against Jon Moxley from Rampage."
[8.0] "I like Yuta alot. He's got a natural babyface demeanor as someone you want to root for and he's sound/technical in the ring. I hope he develops more because I think there's promise."
[8.0] "One of my current favorite wrestlers at the moment. He's an excellent technician with a smart mind for ring psychology. He's very young and has had many great matches in his short career so far! The only reason I'm not rating him higher is because he needs to work on his promos. Other than that, he's bound to be a major player in the future."
[4.0] "4/10 for me. He's not terrible at all, he's just unbelievably bland. Generic look, bad promos, no charisma. He's decent in the ring but the crowd has cooled on him significantly since Tony Khan forced him into becoming a "star" when he bled buckets against Moxley on Rampage. There is no "star" here. He has no potential as a main eventer long-term. Good upper-mid-card guy but that's his ceiling. Fits the standard archetype of "good wrestler with no character" perfectly."
[7.0] "Still young and he still needs to find his character and refine his in-ring style. But it can't be denied that Yuta was able to capture the imagination of AEW crowds in the last year."
[4.0] "He is slightly better than Daniel Garcia who is the other young and overpushed AEW prospect but he is still not good enough. Generic look, terrible promos, bad character work and while technically solid in the ring he can't really get the crowd investment unless he fights a huge name."
[8.0] "Since he came to AEW, Yuta has really impressed me. His mic-work is only okay but his technical skills are fantastic. He was a great ROH Pure champ and I absolutely loved his match against Mox from Rampage a few months ago. I've only seen a handful of his matches from Beyond but he was really good, especially his tag matches alongside Tracy Williams."
[4.0] "Yuta is probably the worst of these new breed of "serious technical wrestlers" who try way too hard to be tough dudes showing that technical wrestling is a BRUTAL, SERIOUS STYLE and emulate heavier-set puro guys while having lean bodies that don't give them enough weight or movement to have the convincing offense that is needed for a more hard hitting style. Instead of setting himself apart from the others by leaning into the training he got from the Wrestle Factory and opting for a more calculated, manipulative World of Sport/catch style, he follows the same trend right now as his peers and fall short: Gresham can cut better promos and has a more muscular, sturdy frame, Moriarty has more charisma, and Garcia has a better look. At this point, he really doesn't have the presence to be intimidating with his appearance nor his voice, and AEW hasn't done much to remedy this besides giving him some forced drama through bleeding and yelling a lot during a handful of big matches. The most I've felt towards anything in-ring that Yuta has done is when Oleg the Usurper killed him in CHIKARA when he was Sylverhawk."
[8.0] "Wheeler has the look of someone you can get behind and root for. He? s capable of having some spectacular matches. I truly hope he continues to improve on his craft. Definitely keep a eye on this guy."
[6.0] "He's someone I just don't get. I get the HOOK hype, I get the stuff about Jade, even Jungle Boy to a extent. Wheeler just looks 100% generic to me both in how he wrestles and how he acts. He's completely flat beyond a good match or two with talent that can drag it out of him. He's someone who really struggles to stand out in a crowd full of guys who wrestle far better (the BOTSJ had him have decent to solid matches but he was nowhere near one of the top or even popular outings there) despite being a reasonable hand himself. Sometimes he's technical, sometimes he's high-flying....idk it feels like there's no sense of identity for him yet, he hasn't developed a definitive style and I'm not really buying him being the fourth wheel of BCC, a group which really didn't need more members than the core group itself. He's not a bad wrestler, but his limitations are obvious and I don't see him becoming this big star that we are supposed to take note of. Being merely competent in all fields isn't going to cut it anymore in the big leagues: that much is known."
[8.0] "has a TON of potential. in a good few years he will definitely be one of aew's pillars. splitting him from best friends (and in extension, CHAOS) and putting him in BCC is one of the best things to happen in Yoots' career."
[7.0] "Wheeler Yuta is a fantastic wrestler on the precipice of greatness with the likes of Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley and William Regal taking him under their wing. Yuta has all of the tools to become a major player in AEW."
"I am not 100% sure what it is, but I there is something about Yuta I like. I get that the moves are vanilla and he doesn't have a standout finisher. Also, he is not fluid on the mic. However, his in ring performances always seem to be better than the sum of his parts. So it intrigues me to see what he becomes working with William Regal, Bryan Danielson and John Moxley. We know they are going to toughen him up ... that is a given. But can they help him develop the in ring and on mic charisma that turned themselves into stars? I don't know. If they can, however, and they are able to find him a couple submissions and a finishing move you want to see HIM perform, then I could certainly see him become a star rather than a jobber."
[7.0] "This guy is tremendous in the ring, and I'm really excited to have him paired with Danielson and Moxley. I'd like to see a little more character and promo work. We got glimpses of some respectable ability in this area in his breakup with the Best Friends, but he needs more time developing it."
[4.0] "Wheeler Yuta has become an interesting case study in the divide of modern wrestling fans. Personally, Wheeler Yuta does nothing for me. There is an endless supply of guys in wrestling right now that just do moves without any sort of emotional resonance behind what they are doing. I always give talent the benefit of the doubt because Wheeler Yuta is young, but as for now I don't see what AEW fans see in him. Why Wheeler Yuta is the chosen one to earn the respect of Moxley, Danielson, and Regal is beyond me."
[7.0] "He is an underrated wrestler, a good technician and always gives good fights, but beyond wrestling he lacks a lot of mic-skills which takes away some of the importance of his character."
[8.0] "Scenic but still not at its best. The guy is not bad but still has to grind miles to be a draw but the road is good. The moveset is still very generic but you can move discreetly on the square (7) (in 14 April 2022) The guy has improved a lot and does not hold back in front of a challenge and manages to channel himself well into the opponent's style. Also as charisma is increased"
[9.0] "Simply amazing. At 25 years of age and with only a few years of experience under his belt, James "Wheeler" Yuta is reminiscent of IWGP/AJPW junior-heavyweight greats like Satoru Sayama or Shinji Ohtani. Yuta has a very good mind for wrestling, and paired with the right opponent he already can have great matches. No wonder William Regal is heavily interested in this young prospect. Yuta, Daniel Garcia and Austin Theory are the future of wrestling."
[4.0] "Painfully average overall right now. He's OK in the ring but nothing makes me look forward to any of his matches because Yuta is devoid of charisma and that is something that is very hard to learn. The wooden monotonous way he delivers his promos don't help either. Hopefully he gets better learning from William Regal and Bryan Danielson, hard to get better coaches then those 2 nowadays, so he's in good hands but I don't see him becoming anything special, just a guy that has a good match every now and then."
[9.0] "I was wrong about him, he's a masterpiece and star in a making. The whole concept of Regal's stable and him fighting his way into being part of it is incredible."
[8.0] "Wheeler is the future. 24 years old and endless potential. Matches with some of the best to ever do it have recently put a lot of shine on him. His in ring work is fantastic, now we're just waiting for his character work to catch up. But with guys like Chuck Taylor and Orange Cassidy working with him, and working opposite guys like Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson, it's just a matter of time. So excited to see where he goes"
[2.0] "The push Yuta is getting relative to his upside is making him one of my least favourite acts in AEW. To me, he is a very average in-ring talent. Technically he's fine but his offense is pretty basic, nothing he does is exciting or explosive, his strikes are very weak, which is especially highlighted when he's in the ring with a great striker like Danielson and his selling ranges from passable to laughable. As a character, well, he isn't one. Yuta must be one of the most bland, generic, boring guys in wrestling, he has no personality and absolutely ground zero charisma, all of his promos are delivered in a completely wooden, monotone way. In short, right now, outside of the ring he's completely useless, inside the ring he's, at best, average and not entertaining in any way. Despite that, he's been given a title, he's getting praised by Regal on commentary and likely joing the BCC. There is a lot of good young talent in or available to AEW who would be great for this spot, but as far as I'm concerned, Yuta is not one of them. If his push continues and he doesn't improve drastically, he's going to garner go away heat from me."
[10.0] "The best wrestler in the world. Nobody can work and sell as well as this motherfucker right here Wheeler YUTA he is the best of the 4 killers and its not even close really. Watch his match with Gresham in ROH to become a YUTA stan"
[5.0] "Wheeler Yuta is the definition of a middle of the road, meat and potatoes wrestler. Absolutely fine in the ring, he is technically sound and doesn't botch, but it isn't like he is putting on five star classics or anything. His only notable attribute is he does have some nice flow to his chaining of moves at times, but he seems to display absolutely no ferocity to his moves. While I can't recall if I've heard him do a promo, he doesn't seem to emote or show any charisma at all, at least in the ring. I swear that the one or two times I saw him on the independent scene he impressed me, so I don't know if it's AEW's booking of him or what, but I don't know how much booking can affect one's in ring skills. If all of this is due to him, then AEW has him in the perfect spot as the job guy for a group with more charismatic and popular wrestlers. I hope he improves with time, but for now a 5 is all I can give him."
[5.0] "As a general rule, I believe this critique is overdone, but in this situation it is justified. Wheeler Yuta's entire personality appears to be "I'm fantastic at wrestling" and not much else. He's simply so boring, and he exemplifies why technical abilities can only go you so far. He can perform all of the moves well, so he gets points for that, but there are hundreds of individuals who can execute the moves to a comparable level and then do more on top of that. I don't ever see myself looking forward to a Yuta match unless it's against someone I care about, therefore I have to give him a mediocre grade."
[4.0] "If I'm being honest, I don't even think he's that good of a wrestler in-ring wise. Yuta is an unnecessary addition to a stable that had a dynamic. He adds absolutely nothing to the roster and his humor is just plain cringe. He gets barely above passing marks for not being a horrible in-ring worker, just average."
[5.0] "AEW is trying with him but he's just a workrate vanilla midget as Kevin Nash would say, a good one mind you but he's not very interesting as he is atm"
[5.0] "As a general rule, I think this criticism is way overused but this is the rare case it applies. Wheeler Yuta's entire character seems to be "I'm good at wrestling" and not a whole lot else. He's just so bland and highlights exactly why technical ability can only take you so far. He can do all the moves well so he gets marks for that but frankly, there are hundreds of people who can do the moves to a similar standard and then do more on top of that. I don't ever see myself looking forward to a Yuta match unless it's against someone that I actually do care about so for that reason, I have to give him a middling score."
[9.0] "Huge potential, only 24 years old is so entertaining, an outright technician. A great outfit and it stinks of charisma. THE first time I saw him, he impressed me directly, he has a presence and he is quite fast in the sequence, if we add to that his coltige side, a real modern cruiserweight."
[7.0] "Wheeler Yuta has something about him. He's young, but he's been in some interesting stuff (like the ROH Pure Tournament and MW) and his moveset seems solid. I think with some time on the indies, he's only going to improve. He's definitely a wrestler I'm excited to see 5 years down the line."
[8.0] "Wheeler Yuta is an exciting new and young pro wrestler and he already have experience wrestling in Japan in such a young career. He have multiple good match in big indie promotion like Beyond Wrestling and CZW. He probably need to improve his charisma and character but we know that the sky is only the limit for this young man (or maybe beyond that)."
