So, yeah Vince McMahon, regardless of his personal life, is THE single greatest promoter in professional wrestling."
[0.0] ""Vince McMahon created it all" yeah, he almost killed it all too. Let's not forget the disgusting stuff he did behind the scenes while WWE was becoming a big thing. Let's not forget how out of touch he was in 2017-2022. Raw was unwatchable, smackdown was inconsistent, PLES were boring, he had already begun to decline from 2010-2016, but he then became even worse. He's had some of the worst ideas in pro wrestling history and has zero respect for some of the wrestlers in his company. I do not want to see him anywhere near a wrestling promotion in 2026. He can go to hell if you're asking me lmao."

The answer to that debate should be no, because art is deeply connected to its creator and therefore should not be considered as distinct. Vince McMahon is the most important man in wrestling history. He helped creating two gigantic boom and created a worldwide monopoly which seems unreachable for any rival promotion. He was an awesome tv character and great foe to steve austin. But he was a horrible person, destroyed multiple promotions, careers and most importantly lives. He is the napoleon of wrestling. "A Critical Look at Vince McMahon's Controversies and Legacy Vince McMahon's impact on professional wrestling is undeniable--he transformed WWE from a regional promotion into a global entertainment empire. However, his legacy is not without significant controversy, often clouded by decades of troubling behavior, questionable creative decisions, and serious allegations. Racially Insensitive Storylines and Actions McMahon has been widely criticized for promoting racially insensitive content over the years. From stereotypical gimmicks assigned to Black, Asian, and Latino performers, to the infamous segment where he used the N-word on live television in a 2005 sketch involving John Cena and Booker T, McMahon's record on race is deeply problematic. Critics argue that many of these decisions reflect a tone-deaf or exploitative approach to racial identity for shock value or ratings. Sexism and Treatment of Women Throughout WWE's history under McMahon, women were often portrayed through a hyper-sexualized lens, especially during the "Attitude Era." Women were frequently booked in degrading segments like bikini contests, "bra and panties" matches, or forced to strip in the ring. Numerous female performers have spoken out about the toxic backstage culture and lack of respect for women as athletes. In recent years, WWE has attempted to move toward a more respectful presentation of its female talent, but much of that shift occurred after McMahon's influence began to wane. Allegations of Sexual Misconduct In 2022 and 2023, McMahon stepped down as WWE CEO following investigations into hush money payments allegedly made to suppress claims of sexual misconduct. Reports indicated he paid millions of dollars to multiple women to silence allegations of coercion and inappropriate workplace relationships. While McMahon denied wrongdoing, these allegations were enough to prompt investigations by WWE's board and damage public trust. Homophobic Content WWE under McMahon has also aired content that many considered homophobic, particularly during the 1990s and early 2000s. Segments mocking LGBTQ+ individuals or using slurs as punchlines were not uncommon. While the company has since made attempts to be more inclusive, the past damage and lack of apology for some of these portrayals still linger. Problematic Storylines Involving Minors There have been creative choices under McMahon's leadership that many fans found deeply inappropriate, including storylines involving minors or age-inappropriate romantic angles. While these weren't criminal actions, the tone and nature of some of these segments have drawn criticism for poor taste and lack of ethical oversight. Final Thoughts Vince McMahon may be hailed as a business visionary, but the darker side of his reign--marked by racist, sexist, and exploitative content, as well as serious misconduct allegations--cannot and should not be ignored. His legacy is a reminder of how power, left unchecked, can foster a culture that marginalizes and exploits others. As WWE evolves into a new era, many fans hope that the next generation of leadership learns from these failings rather than repeats them."

As a promoter and businessman, his vision undeniably transformed WWE into a global powerhouse. The Attitude Era, WrestleMania's growth, and the ruthless expansion of WWE all happened under his watch. But his legacy is complicated. While he created stars like Austin, Rock, and Taker, he also famously micromanaged talent and often stifled organic crowd favorites. His in-ring work as "Mr. McMahon" was iconic in its own right, playing one of the greatest heel authority figures ever. However, creative stagnation in later years and serious real-world controversies have rightfully tainted how many view his contributions. A polarizing figure, but a titan nonetheless."

While he's done a lot for the growth of the industry he's also done a lot to make sure the less productive and positive aspects of the industry kept going strong. It doesn't help that he's just an absolutely terrible human being. Any purist will hate him with a passion, and I think that's a completely legitimate opinion to have. You'll never find a wrestling promoter who is universally loved, unlike wrestlers, where the majority can agree that stars like Austin or Shawn are among the greatest despite their flaws. It's no coincidence that the greatest is the most hated. There's simply too much for promoters to handle to be judged solely on every wrestler they've wronged. Wrestling is an unpredictable business, and perfection is impossible. Yet, despite the challenges, he managed to transform a regional wrestling territory into a global monopoly in just 40 years while being responsible for some of the greatest television in wrestling history. On top of that, he's also one of the greatest on-screen characters of all time. If it was not for this man, wrestling would not be where it is today, he built the largest company in the world (as of now) whose legacy is a combination of excellence, but also of abuse and degeneracy. People only give him any praise and recognition because he founded and lead the WWF, now WWE, for 42 years, and the WWF/E had many heights which embodied the best parts of wrestling. However, Vince McMahon himself, was not a good booker, I firmly do not believe that Wrestling was all downhill since 2001, but the cracks began to show, and in 2016-2021, Vince's booking was so bad that WWE felt unwatchable. Is it a surprise that since 2023, when Vince lost his power, WWE started getting better? But all of the above is about how he was as a booker, but Vince as a person was one of the worst human beings in Wrestling. He would very famously put wrestlers and figures into embarrassing storylines specifically to humiliate them, and would regularly mistreat some of his best employees, like Jim Ross. However, his misdeeds cross from assholery to flat out illegal degeneracy, in the early 80s he covered up a murder, to preserve the image of one of his wrestlers (Jimmy Snuka), his negligence and desire to humiliate the wrestler, Owen Hart, ended up leading to his preventable death, allowing misconduct, and now we know, he's a rapist. He may have started the biggest wrestling company in the world, but he is, and always was, a deplorable human being, and I am glad he's getting the dishonour he deserves."

Think about the wrestlers that lost years of their lives in a company that has no ability to do things right. For how bad Vince Russo was, at least he was trying to be somewhat innovative booking things and not being boring. I see no redeeming qualities about Vince in the wrestling world. And the only reason he won is because guys like Bischoff were controlling WCW. Plus, just to remind you, many of the stars of WWE were HATED by Vince and were mainly kept by guys like JR, Heyman and Brisco. As years passed by, some of his booking choices became more and more flawed, if not outright wrong. Many potential stars with bright futures came to WWE only for their reputation and credibility to be dragged through the mud. Him no longer leading WWE is a blessing for fans of the business. Now, as for the thing I am actually reviewing here. He was indeed willing to take crazy bumps and risk his body for a good show, but he simply wasn't a good wrestler. At all. And while his heel work is good, it was best suited for a non-wrestler, an authority figure. That's when he truly shone."

Vince has had a huge impact on the industry but not a good one in my opinion, Vince violently went after any and all competition from national companies to small territories and as a result Vince gained a near monopoly on pro wrestling in the US, and with this Vince promoted a style of pro wrestling which I frankly dislike. Vince also made far more awful decisions than good decisions, he buried lots of good talent, fucked up the invasion storyline over tribalistic bullshit, held women back, ruined the potential gold the ECW revival could have given us. I hate the WWF Golden Age, its just not my thing, the attitude and ruthless aggression eras were hit and miss, everything after 2007/8 was shit. Bad decision maker, poor commentator, mediocre in-ring, damaged the industry."

[10.0] "I rated this point based on the business or impact that he had because no one in the history of pro wrestling had been more successful than this man, Vince McMahon is the person who built WWE from one of the normal territories wrestling promotion becoming a multi-billion juggernaut company, and of course he deserved all of his credit for this success. He beat WCW and all of his competitors. He made many audiences become WWE fans. I didn't deduct any points for his poor creative ideas that insulted the intelligence of the viewer in the 3-4 years of his last tenure, and maybe he is one of the worst person in real life, but I couldn't rate him below 10 points."

"If there is any figure in pro wrestling who is impossible to rate, it's Vince. The ways he built up the industry, turned it into what it is today - it's nothing short of a 10. But the ways he bullied, and mistreated, his talent, his insane booking decisions, especially in the 2010s, and the sexual assault news coming out in the last year... it's a 0. Vince's rating lies somewhere in between, but I can't rate him."

He is the embodiment of old (and new) America, making a monopoly on American wrestling, distorting it into his own image (for better & worse). I must say though, his character work from 98 to 01 was genuinely great and his 02-07 stuff was awful but at least in a funny way and he still set himself to be the butt of a joke. None of that takes away from the sheer insanity that is and was the WWF, the most inconsistent wrestling company ever. I find it to be pretty much impossible to confidently rate him because of all this"

"He was once one of the most influential wrestling figures of all time and worthy of being rated 10/10 for his contributions to this business. However, his current legal troubles would be far too damning if they're true, so I won't leave a rating here. Vince could talk and run a promotion better than most, but some things are more serious than silly ratings on a niche wrestling site."

He warned us, he said himself that he was going to inject the WWF with a lethal dose of poison. Little did we know he was speaking about himself and his terrible creative decisions, and wanting to kill any momentum that was gained outside of his control. Terrible person outside of wrestling too, and I hope he stays far away from wrestling now that its all come to light about how he is. He does not deserve to be remembered fondly. Not even as the character of Vince McMahon. I know that people hold Benoit to a different standard, but Vince is one that needs to be forgotten about permanently."

Vince used to be a genius of entertainment in the 80s and after this decade he got sparkles of geniality by making himself the most hated heel of the AE, Batista's building, the Streak etc... Leaving aside all of that, he was and is an absolute jerk. I'm not referring to his personal accuses, I'm only focusing on his job. He got right 1 thing of 20: the 80% of his job is composed of very trash comedy, inept wrestlers pushed because of big and sweaty men fetish, a plethora of good athletes got their career ruined by idiotic booking ideas, workers punished for dumb reasons, great storylines worsen by disappointing ends and many more. He is lucky most of WWE fans are children or occasionals, if there had been more smart people watching wrestling he would be out of business 10 years ago."

His overall contributions to wrestling are stratospheres above anyone else who's ever lived, but unfortunately he'll be remembered as the senile old man who ran his company into the ground for years in the 2010s-2020s with lousy wrestling and insistence on shoving things the fans didn't want down their throats and whose reputation is forever tarnished by a litany of sexual assaults and worse."

He always cut amazing promos and even though he could never take the stunner correctly, when he did the building exploded."

However, other than that, he is personally loathsome due to his many vile crimes and he also held back the art of pro wrestling so much for over 2 decades between 2001-2022 (and apart from some highlights 80s and early 90s were also steering wrestling in the wrong direction) with his shitty booking, preference for roided up muscles, ridiculous whims, and buddies such as Johnny Ace and Kevin Dunn wielding much power with shitty attitudes and ideas how to run the biggest pro wrestling company in the world. Only now, in the Renaissance era of WWE, unshackled from his creative vision, we're seeing how pro wrestling could've been so much better for the last 20 years."

He was also a good on-screen heel character, and his rivalry with Stone Cold Steve Austin in particular is legendary. He also engaged in many unethical business practices and was merciless in monopolizing the industry, and his my-way-or-the-highway attitude made WWE preeeeetty shitty for a while there. So even if you take all the criminal allegations out of the picture (and why should you? ) I feel justified in ranking him this low..."

[9.0] "DISCLAIMER: I AM JUDGING THE CHARACTER. In my personal opinion, Vince McMahon is the greatest heel ever. Not only because he was the booker (which obviously people didn't know back then but still) and booked himself to win the world championship over one of the most over wrestlers ever, but also just his pure heel work. The guy was so easy to hate because Vince could remind some people of their bosses, a greedy good for absolutely nothing piece of shit who's not only trying to make as much money as he can while you get paid pennies, but he's being a piece of shit while doing it. Not only that but the guy also wrestled from time to time and would book himself to win (again no one knew that really back then) which is a notoriously frowned upon thing by the way. Not only that but the way he would treat his workers and family fucking terrible and looking at him in a 2024 lens, this guy has BEEN a weird dude. The entirety of the Linda/Trish story line is probably one of the worst ever and he booked it, he booked his wife to have a nervous breakdown to the point of her ending up wheelchair bound and then booked himself to make out with Trish Stratus directly in front of her. Dude sucked, but he sucked because he would do WHATEVER it took to sell tickets."
