Roadkill

[7.0] "Nah, this rating is way too low. All you need to know what I like about Roadkill is that he has a really fun gimmick, if a little random with him only saying chickens, but he's a really underrated wrestler. It's a shame that he's never really been given many chances to show off what he can do in the ring, because he's a really fun big man."

[8.0] "Completely unwarranted and ignorant low rating here. Roadkill & Danny Doring may not have debuted for ECW until pretty late in the game, but they were one of the most memorable teams from that period and held their own against teams like the FBI, Balls & Axl, Da Baldies, Simon Diamond & Swinger, CW Anderson & Bill Wiles, Nova & Chetti, York & Matthews, etc. Not long after debuting Doring & Roadkill even shared a ring with The Dudleyz, The Impact Players (Lance Storm/Justin Credible).and Dreamer & Raven, in matches that saw the team prove their worth as rookies. Both trainees out of the House of Hardcore (and onscreen members of "Team Taz" with their fellow HoH alumni) Doring and Roadkill were initially presented as heels, but managed to get over organically with the notoriously tough ECW diehards and more casual fans alike as a memorable babyface Gaga team. "The Angry Amish Chicken Plucker" was great as the heavy hitter of the team. A solid big man, with Doring there as the mouthpiece of the team. They had first Miss Congeniality (Lita) and then Elektra briefly serving as their valets during the heel portion of their ECW run, but got over more without them after the babyface turn. This led to a program with Lou E's New Dangerous Alliance and then it was on to bigger and better things (the tag titles) and some really fun matches with a variety of teams. I will note that, while not the greatest of all ECW stables by a long shot, Lou E's group did feature the criminally underrated CW Anderson shortly after his arrival in ECW and a personal favorite of mine in "Wild" Bill Wiles. I know I'm not the only Billvis Wesley fan out there, right? Another element of Doring & Roadkill's presentation that really clicked was the excellent choice of theme music they used in "Super Bon Bon" by Soul Coughing, with the opening of the song being enough to seriously pop the crowds during the height of the team's popularity. Will add to this comment in the future. I have to briefly touch on Roadkill's time as a WWE developmental wrestler in OVW (no longer using the Amish Roadkill gimmick or moniker) and his WWECW matches. Very good big man. Tons of potential that unfortunately was never fully realized. Can't type all of this without adding... "Chickenssssss! ""

[7.0] "If I had to describe Roadkill with one word it would be unforgetable. When I saw this amish wrestler for the first time. I couldn't get him out of my mind. It is interesting how some gimmicks stand out. I have forgotten dozens of midcarders but I'll never forget Roadkill. I also can't remember him having any bad matches. Good job!"

[7.0] "The Amish Warrior was way better than he ever got credit for and a low-key gem of the ECW tag scene. Roadkill was the kind of performer who didn't need to talk much because his presence, look, and in-ring work did all the talking for him. In a company full of edgy loudmouths, hardcore brawlers, and chaos merchants, Roadkill stood out by being an old-school powerhouse who worked clean, crisp, and smart. His Amish Warrior gimmick should have been a joke, but instead, it became one of ECW's most oddly endearing acts thanks to how seriously he committed to it. Roadkill was the muscle of the team w Danny, but he wasn't just a big stiff. He moved well, bumped hard, and brought a legit hoss energy to their matches. His splash off the top rope looked devastating, his agility for a man his size was impressive, and he always made his offense look like it hurt. More importantly, he understood tag team psychology, knowing when to cut the ring in half, when to save his partner, and when to turn up the intensity. He was also quietly one of the safest and most consistent big men in ECW's lawless world, often working with smaller guys and making them look like a million bucks without losing his own aura. He protected his gimmick, respected the art of the tag match, and gave fans a reason to care about his matches even when the company wasn't booking him like a star. When ECW closed, Roadkill never got the bigger stage run he deserved. His short WWE developmental stint was forgettable, but that wasn't on him. The fact that he remained a fan favorite years after the company's death speaks to how much people appreciated his work. Roadkill was a throwback in the best way possible. A believable monster who worked smooth, looked different, and always delivered when the bell rang. One of ECW's most underrated big men and a guy who should get way more love than he does."

[7.0] "One of the bright spots, along with The FBI and Nova, of what was an afterthought of a tag division towards the end of ECW. Got a decent reaction from the crowd and was deceptively quick for a huge guy dressed in a cheap shirt and trousers. Had a great planted powerbomb, Amish Splash that covered over half the ring and was athletic enough to do a rope walk and step up top rope dive to the outside. Think they were the final ECW champs, their title win at Massacre On 34th Street is a fun 10 minute spot fest. Seems a bit of a waste that a guy with promising potential did nothing beyond developmental, and not since 2007."

[7.0] "An high flying/brawler who could do basically anything. His amish gimmick is...an amish gimmick, it's certainly different. There's probably a ceiling as to where you can take a gimmick like that (such as the fact that I've never seen a promo by him), but he was a capable wrestler and could deliver some good wrestling. I wish he was used more in WWECW, he was still 30 there"

[6.0] "Roadkill was pretty agile for a Big Man, had a really good and fun gimmick, I think that rumor about facing Taker at Mania was hilarious and I kinda wish it happened."

[3.0] "Roadkill was a subpar talent who lucked into a gimmick that somewhat covered for his lack of ability. He may have had a decent post-ECW run, but he priced himself out of the market by thinking more highly of himself than anyone else did."

[4.0] "A very bizarre concept for a wrestler. Who contemplates a mad Amish guy wrestling? And even stranger, he only said one word. CHICKENS!"

[6.0] "I liked Roadkill. He had some surprising agility for a big dude, and the "Angry Amish Chicken-Plucker" gimmick is just one of those fun, out-there characters I often gravitate towards. It was certainly a funny contrast with partner Danny Doring's sleazy character, and Roadkill and Doring were certainly at their best together - they weren't the last ECW Tag Champs for nothing. Glad to have seen what may be his last-ever match at the first House of Hardcore show live."
