[5.0] "Test honestly kind of sucked of we're being objective. He wasn't really much of a talker, he didn't elevate other wrestlers in the ring at all, and he's been a part of a few outright awful matches. It's clear he only really got his career due to being tall, muscular and reasonably athletic. By all accounts I should reasonably hate him and rate him very low. Maybe it's just the nostalgia talking but I actually kind of like the guy. He had at least some physical charisma and generally performed decently enough in the ring until he got so roided up that he lost all mobility. He had a couple outright great matches too, that hoss match with Brock Lesnar frequently gets brought up as an underrated gem and I kind of agree with that honestly. It's referenced to death but he really did have one of the best Big Boots in the business, seriously deadly looking. He's also alleged to have been a very lovely guy that passed far too young as a result of the toxic conditions of the industry encouraging rampant steroid use for so long. I think a five is fair. Rest in peace, Andrew Martin."

[7.0] "Test was a physically gifted big man who showed flashes of main event potential, particularly during his 1999-2003 run. With a powerful moveset, highlighted by one of the best Big Boots in wrestling history and a surprisingly crisp elbow drop for a man his size he stood out as a capable midcarder. Despite having the look and in ring presence to go further, his mic skills and inconsistent booking held him back. Injuries and steroid abuse eventually derailed his career and mobility, leading to a tragic early passing. Still, his presence during the Attitude and Ruthless Aggression eras left a lasting impression. Underrated and gone too soon. Should have been more willing to sell for smaller guys though."

[7.0] "I honestly think Test had the tools to be a world champion one day, even if he never really got close to it in reality. His '01-early '03 run was great and he could move pretty well for a guy with his size and physique. He had a solid moveset and made it look good, and I have to respect a guy who makes a basic transition move like the big boot look like an insanely credible finisher. I'd say his primary weakness as a wrestler was his mic work. You could definitely tell he was super untrained on the mic even though I think he does have a few good moments on it. His neck injury definitely slowed him down a lot, pair that with the fact he started going really hard on roids and all his mobility was shot. He got incredibly slow and moved like a stiff robot. After that he just became a super jobber and did nothing of note in his return on a horrible ECW program. Really unfortunate how he went out, having the level of CTE he had and the demons of his that went along with it at such a young age really sucks. He showed a lot of promise in my eyes as a pretty flexible/mobile big guy that could've been a good upper-midcarder for a few years, but injuries & his own issues killed all the potential he had."

If it wasn't for horrible booking, Test could've been a huge star. One segment completely destroyed his career and he never recovered unfortunately. He could've easily been a believable heel world champion. RIP."

I feel like they were unsure what to do with him after his Wedding with Stephanie, but he was SO over around that period in late 99. They should have had him win the Intercontinental Title around that time because they kind of ruined his momentum with their subpar booking with him."

He wrestled around his homeland of Canada for a year until he got the call to go to the WWF as Test, a bodyguard turned pro wrestling heavy for the corporation. He became that good to go in a wrestling feud with Shane McMahon over Stephanie McMahons love, Summerslam 99 was where he peaked and had the brightest future ahead of him, got opportunities at the tag team titles, had Trish Stratus and Stacy Keibler as his manager, completed at Wrestlemania and had a good lengthy career until his release in 2004/5 time frame, it was when he came back in 2006 was where his life would never be the same again. He had a serious problem with steroids which he had used since a teenager but he ballooned hard around his ECW run & sadly affected his in ring work. Passed away too soon and overall you can tell he was a decent person who had got stuck in a business that he loved. Rest in Peace Andrew Martin."

[8.0] "Amazing Elbow Drop, probably top 5 ever. Definitely the best big boot ever. He hit it with such force, it looked like he was attempting to decapitate his opponent nearly every every time he hit it. On top of that, the Test Drive is probably the best rolling cutter of all time. He had more torque on it so the opponent usually got spiked more often. Had the knowledge of CTE, steroid and painkiller abuse, and their long term effects been known about more back then, Test would still be alive today. He wasnt the same after his 2004 release. He had a few good matches in 06-07 but his body and brain were worn down due to the wear and tear of wrestling as well as the vices that tempt you along the way. Ill always remember the 99-03 run though. RIP."

[6.0] "Test was another good talent taken from us too soon. At 6'8, 285 he had the size needed to be a star in the business and he was apart of some memorable moments within the attitude and RA eras. Test's issue was that he didn't have much personality other than that he was just another one of the big guys, they tried several times to give him some character through various gimmicks and catchphrases but none of them really stuck. I remember when he passed away and I was shocked because it wasn't much long after we lost Benoit and this one felt a bit worse because he was only 33. I remember seeing an interview that he gave before he passed, he was a guy that seemed so happy to have put the business behind him. He talked openly about how he was recovering from a broken neck, politics in wrestling, ect. He seemed really happy in that interview and almost free, unfortunately he attempted to get back in the business and died of a drug overdose shortly thereafter. At just 33, it's just a shame because he had a good run in his career and he was still young enough to really succeed at other things. I liked Test, he wasn't the best worker but he was a solid all-around guy."

Test started messing heavily with the roids by the end of his WWE run and it wasn't very pleasing to look at. You could tell that wasn't healthy and unfortunately he wound up dying only a few years later."

In his WWECW run and his 2002-2004 run when he started gaining muscle mass, he had your typical basic big man moveset, and he was never a great promo either."
DanTalksRasslin wrote on 02.01.2023:
[7.0] "Test was one of the better big men of his era - many of his moves were crisply-executed, particularly a Big Boot that's among the all-time best renditions of the move, and a solid diving elbow, and he wasn't overly stiff in the ring. He also had a great look and, although he wasn't a particularly strong mic worker, he was capable of catching on with the crowd and there were a few points in his career - notable his storyline with Stephanie McMahon - where he started to catch fire, though it was never really adequately capitalized on. He likely wouldn't have been able to sustain a run as a long-term main eventer after that, but could have remained a major force on the upper midcard. As it is he did well as a midcard monster and had a solid tag run with Albert as half of "T&A, " and late in his career had something of a career revival with his run in WWE-ECW before requesting his release. Another in the long line of stars gone too soon."

He had tons of good matches where he was this tough big man who will toss and knock you around. He was never the best on the mic unfortunately, he was very limited in that department and should Always have had a manager by his side to compensate that... no not Stacy, a good manager"

The problem was he wasn't very good on the mic until after his feud with Scott Steiner and even then he was only ever "fine". But after watching alot of his matches back I've really enjoyed them especially if he's ever wrestling a smaller wrestler like Crash Holly. He should've been a main eventer, even if he couldn't talk you could have put a manager with him, but of course Vince needs everybody to talk. The closest we got to Test in the main event scene was ECW but unfortunately he messed that up with steroids and then he had his one TNA match which he didn't really do much of note. It's insane that he was only 33 when he passed away, way too young. RIP Test."

[6.0] "After reviewing a cross section of his career I can tell you precisely what was wrong with the guy: the ring work. Test had a tremendous start and showed nothing but promise up until a certain point. While many gloss over the T n A tag team, I feel it was his peak and there was definitely chemistry between him, Albert and Trish Stratus. Which leads me to another point on his career: he was most watchable in tag teams; the Un-American group was a success in the ring, although the gimmick was short lived and rightfully so (terrible idea), the men chosen for the faction was nothing but good decisions and chemistry was definitely there. Unfortunately for Test, tag teams in Vinceland do not last long. Test was always forced to be in singles competition even though practically all of his pairings seemed to click (even Scott Steiner and Test had chemistry! ) - and singles matches is where he often failed due to a limited repertoire. If you've seen one Test match post T n A you HAVE seen them all. Lots of corner back elbows n stomps, loads of pump handle slams. 6.25 rounded down. Shame he never rose above just a handful of well done moves, seemed to be out of sheer laziness,"

[8.0] "Test's biggest problem was bad timing in his career-- constant alignment switches that made him just come off like a schmuck, having size in an era where plenty of people were just as big if not bigger but were better established as fans started to be more vocal about smaller guys, not really being a great talker in a promotion where guys did the most talking for themselves that they'd ever do. His biggest problem might have been being a tall guy from Toronto with long blond hair and a four letter name who debuted for the WWF in 1998 after being trained by the Harts and Leo Burke when someone who'd be main eventing PPVs in 2021 had all of those same attributes, in Edge. Except that the more that I revisit him, the more that I'm convinced that he and Edge were about as equally good in ring, which makes Test pretty terribly underrated as far as I can tell."

[6.0] "Test was always just there. As he himself has admitted in interviews, he's one of the guys who entered the business purely because it was hot then and he needed money: very much the same mentality as a Nash or Ramon, and as a result he's always never really been a guy worth watching as he'd always be going through the motions. Granted, in his better years he had great size and look, was a fairly decent brawler who had some nice power moves behind him. It always seemed like WWE wanted him to do better with his many pushes and featured feuds but he never really matched to the plate. He was fine in singles and tags but there was never a point where he stood out and if you weren't up for a brawl with him, he didn't exactly have anything else in the tank. Absolutely died way too soon, was shocked to see a relatively healthy guy like him die so young."

Got a fair few belts most likely just for his size rather than his workrate or gimmick. Featured also sometimes fairly prominently in storylines involving the McMahons and The Alliance. Was becoming big (figuratively and literally) in WWE's ECW, until wellness policies started to take affect and he fled to TNA, where he became scarily huge and had an ultra-short run before sadly passing. I still really miss him R. I. P Test."

He looked like a million dollars, was very over with the fans at certain periods, had a surprisingly good moveset for a man his size (his Big Boot is god-level and had an excellent flying elbow), and was one of the few guys that could make a Pumphandle Slam seem legit. Alright talker, but never really talked all that much anyway. High potential that wasn't totally realized. Could've at least been an upper level midcarder, like someone that probably gets one or two shots at a main title in a year, but ultimately failing. Was pretty entertained by him at various points."

When he first started he was going far and doing well and getting great pushes. When Triple H ruined his wedding his career was not the same after that. He was great with Albert. His biggest peak was in 2001 winning the European and Intercontinental titles. Also he won that battle royal at Survivor Series that year. He was not bad with the Un-Americans but after that he went downhill. With Stacy Keilber and Scott Steiner he was not that great. He went to low card status.
