[8.0] "Shoichi Funaki is an example of a wrestler that got shafted very bad by WWE producers and bookers. But is very much an amazing wrestler that knows how to use limbs to his advantage whether it's selling or just in a story since, very dynamic in-ring skill, very physical when he wants to be which most of the time he is and he has amazing awareness, he's a remarkable talent that gets shunned upon because of WWE work and he's more than just that, An Excellent worker in my books and all around worker."

[8.0] "Highly skilled in the ring, good timing as well especially with comedy stuff, one of the better mid-carders or "enhancement talents" that WWE ever had. He could make any gimmick or character trait he was given work. Had a good run with Taka, the "English dubbed" promos with Shane McMahon voicing them were hilarious as well."

[9.0] "Highest level enhancement talent. Overlooked in a multitude of regards. Exceptionally smooth even at break neck paces. Excellent use of limbs to tell the story/sell the action. Remarkable ring awareness (can not be understated, watch for the way he posts himself). Varied and dynamic skill set, no two Funaki matches are the same. Strong knack for comedy including physical. Made his presence known behind the scenes as well. Just an all around asset to the World of Professional Wrestling."

"TBH, I think Shoichi's "Kung Funaki" gimmick should have been given to Masakatsu Funaki, should he have chosen to come to WWE. After all, HE'S the one with the Kung Fu background. Of course, I don't think he needs to; he's too good for them, Vince McMahon or not."

[5.0] "I want to rank Funaki higher, but this guy just got jobbed out so badly during his WWFE run. He did get himself over as SmackDown! Numba 1! Announca! He was perfectly capable in the ring, but wasn't really able to show it when he was getting squashed."

[6.0] "Funaki was probably the best enhancement talent the WWE ever had next to Barry Horrowitz. He always made his opponents look great when doing the job and was talented and skilled enough to put on a decent match on the b-shows. Even though he never got much of a push Funaki always made the best of whatever he was stuck with and usually made it work in the end."

[9.0] "Extremely underrated, not only was he extremely solid as a mat based grappler, but was also funny and charismatic."

[9.0] "Loved the Hell out of Funaki as a child. Kaientai was superb , and he was pretty damn good in the ring."

[7.0] "7 is the best. He was decent with his wrestling skills. Used more as a jobber. With Kaientai he was excellent on the mic saying "INDEED". The Kung Fu gimmick was racist."

[4.0] "Despite being very solid in the ring, Funaki really never did anything of substance. He is best remembered for the Smackdown #1 announcer deal & I have to admit that I thought the fake dubbing was REALLY funny. He now plays a bigger deal behind the scenes working as a liaison between WWE & the Japanese stars, as well as being a Japanese commentator."

[6.0] "Smackdown's number 1 announcer used to be an in ring talent and honestly he was never anything special but was a good hand to have in filler lower card spots for a few year's. if you haven't seen any of his matches you're really not missing anything special."

[6.0] "Underrated. Doesn't deserve such a low rating. The guy could wrestle, and had a lot of cool moves in his arsenal."

[6.0] "Rating him from his Potential and longetivity, He Deserves 6 from it, He is quite good in ring and his matches against Paul London, Nunzio, Chavo Guerrero are very good, Underrated."

[1.0] "A token Japanese wrestler for the WWE used as comedic relief. Unlike Tajiri or Yoshi Tatsu, Funaki had no personality and was always treated like a jobber for his entire run in the WWE. I remember he jobbed to Edge quite often in 2007."

[8.0] "I don't get why the ratings are so low... are you guys rating him based on WWE's shamefully bad use of him (and japanese wrestlers in general) or on his actual performance and potential? I'm assuming it's the first option. He's actually an above average technical wrestler."
