[6.0] "Insanely over in TNA as the Black Pope: dude could have been one of their top home-grown stars like EC3 if they'd didn't bury him just after losing to Styles. Not particularly great as Elijah Burke in WWE/ECW, a bland character with a tendency to lay it in in terms of being unintentionally stiff, which is a trademark of sloppy ring work. He got better in the aforementioned Black Pope run where he was mega over with a killer gimmick and look but wasn't remarkable in the ring. That being said, his whole presentation made up for that just fine. Unfortunately he was forgotten and much like other solid performers at the time like McGuinness within that TNA shuffle and hasn't been heard of much for years. He seems to be making a small comeback in NWA but we'll see how far that goes."

In the ring I suppose he could have been better, but the other upsides should have been enough to mask his shortcomings. I guess it didn't help that he was involved with TNA during their downward spiral days."

[7.0] "A very good wrestler. I liked his time in WWE as Elijah Burke but I felt they could have done a lot more with him. While he was their with the New Breed they had a very good match with the ECW originals. He also could speak on the mic and had charisma. I dont really like his commentary skills in TNA very much though."

[5.0] "He good but not that great. The best he had in WWE was a member of the New Breed in ECW. He had a few great matches against CM Punk, Tommy Dreamer, and Matt Hardy. I don;t follow TNA as much but when I saw him I was like what a ridiculous gimmick as D'Angelo Dinero. That could have been played by an Italian wrestler."

[8.0] "How this guy was misused in 2 of the biggest wrestling companies in the world will forever remain a mystery to me. In WWE, they MIGHT have taken him out of kiln before he was properly formed, but he made up for it with maneuvers unique to himself, excellent striking ability (both with punching due to an amateur boxing background and his trademark knees) and managing to make the completely awful Sylvester Terkay look halfway decent by speaking on his behalf, demonstrating a natural charisma. These tools should have gotten him far in WWE. He even reinvented himself as a street preacher, calling himself "The Pope" and entering a winning streak at house shows. And then, suddenly, he's released. Just when it seems he's on the verge of a breakthrough. Doesn't make sense. But TNA picked him up shortly thereafter, and, keeping the "Pope" gimmick but renaming himself "D'Angelo Dinero", he showed off not only what made me sit up and take notice of him in the first place, but showed a vast improvement in wrestling ability. Now there was no WAY he couldn't succeed in TNA, a place known for giving guys a shot at greatness that didn't get it in Stamford. And yet... nothing. He was way over with the TNA faithful (they called themselves his "Congregation") yet he continued to not advance. Finally he left (as did most of the TNA roster). But after a 2 year absence, he's returned to TNA as a commentator and occasional wrestler. He's an ok commentator. I do wish he'd make a full time return to the ring. It's not too late for him to have a run with a title. He's still got it!"

[8.0] "Elijah Burke... Sometimes I just don't get WWE. The man had great in-ring skills and in-ring psychology. He was awesome on the mic and really charismatic. He had a decent former-boxer gimmick. He had the tools to become successful. He was actually gradually becoming more successful and over with the crowd. And suddenly in some sort of WWE "glitch"... he's released. TNA seemed to be smart and went to capitalize on that big mistake and eventhough they were able to use him better they weren't able to use him at his full potential. He's still on time to have a major role in any of the companies."

[10.0] "I strongly feel that The Pope is one of the most underrated wrestlers not just today, but in the entire wrestling business in general. He is one of those special superstars that has a great look and has great wrestling skills and amazing charisma beyond belief! To me, Pope had the total package and infinite potential to be a world champion and a great one at that! He's had a lot of ups in his career in both WWE and TNA, but unfortunately he's had a lot of downs in both companies as well especially in WWE cause TNA obviously used him better. He may not have always been utilized and booked in the best way possible by TNA, but they gave The Pope more opportunities and they actually sold merchandise with his name on it. But despite all that, like WWE, TNA never put a championship on him either. I understand that he doesn't have to have the world title right away, but at least put some kind of championship title around his waist like the X-Division title or hell, he could've been the TV champion for all I care, he deserved to be any kind of champion! But now that his TNA contract expired and he chose not to resign, I don't know where he'll go from here in his career now and I guess we'll never see him be at the spot he deserved to be ascended to in both WWE and TNA and it's such a damn shame!"
