[0.0] "This went on for longer than the rest of the show combined. That's never a good idea especially with Jey Uso. The match makes no sense either. They clearly stated no outside interference and solo is heavily involved here. The Jimmy Uso heel turn made no sense and felt like a swerve for the sake of a swerve since they ran out of ideas on how to have Roman retain his undisputed title which everyone wanted him to lose at this point."

It never really picked up though, went on for way too long, and not enough happened for a street fight that was this hyped up. The Jimmy turn made zero sense whatsoever as well, really stupid and ruined the ending. (5/10)"

Lame sports entertainment garbage match infused with an intolerable amount of interference, atrocious pacing, and a nonsensical ending and story development that felt like a big jump the shark moment for THA BIG DAWG's title run and the OG Bloodline."

Yet the crowd was into the match, the family bloodline drama felt good, and Roman played his part to perfection. Very slow match, just about no impressive moves, but it worked. At least, it worked for me."

Plus, it shouldn't involve any interference based on its stipulation, but they force Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso to cost Jey so that they can continue this overhyped and artificial reign of terror of Roman. The angle of Jimmy turned on Jey is just reheating nacho of Nikki Bella turning on Brie Bella in 2014 Summerslam but in weak version. [*]"

It's controversial that Jey Uso is getting the push he's getting now but it was so much worse here. This whole feud and match felt like pure masturbatory Samoan nonsense. It's hard to think of anyone less deserving of a main event title match at the second biggest show of the year than Jey fucking Uso. As others mentioned, once Solo Sikoa started the usual interference, it was more like an episode of 1997-99 Nitro when the NWO interfered in every match."

And the pacing and execution of this match makes sense and it's awesome. Tribal chief is at his peak and his cousin has had enough and the whole match's atmosphere was great."

Chubibs wrote on 08.01.2025:
[0.0] "Insultingly boring, poorly paced, predictable, nonsensical and incompetently booked. This is honestly one of the worst main events I've ever seen. There was no way jey would ever win this match and even though everyone knew Jimmy would cost jey it still made no sense. The only memorable spot was the Samoan drop off the apron through the table but even that wasn't enough to make this match remotely decent. And wasn't it specified in the rules that the bloodline couldn't interfere? So wwe didn't follow their own rules for some reason"

[7.0] "Although it was objectively an excessively long match and in some ways a disappointment (given the magnitude of the feud it was reasonable to expect more), their match stood out for its excellent level and there were some good moments, such as Jey which, unlike Money In The Bank, dodges the combined attack of Roman and Solo, as well as the general atmosphere which, although excessively dilated, still conveyed part of the narrative prestige told for three years of storyline. As for the ending, I will simply say that those who consider it conceptually wrong and inconsistent not only did not understand the basis of the abysmal difference between Jey and Jimmy Uso's characters, but they suddenly forgot everything that had happened before and during the Bloodline Civil War. First of all, it is false to say that it was Jimmy Uso who made the Bloodline implode, both because Sami Zayn had already done it IN JANUARY, and because Jimmy, immediately after Night Of Champions 2023, tries to put the pieces back together and make peace with Roman Reigns (also getting kicked out). JEY IS USED TO IMPLEMENT THE REVOLUTION AGAINST THE BLOODLINE, so it is disgusting and schizophrenic to associate Jimmy with merits that are and remain the purest man of the Samoan stable. Also, unblock your ears, JIMMY IS ENVIOUS OF JEY'S ACHIEVEMENTS, HE HAD ADMITTED IT ON SMACKDOWN ON 06/16, with Jey then claiming all the efforts and sacrifices made for three years of his parable. So yes, we can easily discuss the fact that it happened too soon (even if they made a virtue of necessity, Jey Uso was over like Jesus Christ and the time was what it was especially with Roman's commitments), but it is right and sacrosanct that it was it went like this. And whoever thinks it's inconsistent from a narrative point of view, go and fuck off. (7(10)"

One of the two matches I would say if you think Jey is a main event talent watch this first and then tell that to me again, Dude was thrown in the water and he sank. The stipulation was suppose to hide him but it exposed him even more"

[1.0] "Well, that sucked. Yes, I'm not a Roman fan, and I'm not a Jey Uso fan, but I know when the match has worth and when it doesn't. I think Roman had great defenses against Kevin, Zayn, Cody, and others, and the Bloodline Civil War match was great too, but this was horrible, everything was awful, a slow-paced match, with boring spots, not one interesting move, bad booking, bad storytelling. The stipulation said that no family member could interfere, what was Solo doing there? I'm not even going to talk about Jimmy Uso, that was lame, just lazy booking, and the proof that they will throw that story-line into everyone throats. It's completely saturated, they didn't had any timing for closing this one, I think the Bloodline story is one of the greatest of all times, and now it's risked to ruin it. They will probably drag this thing until there's nothing left, which is such a shame. I hated everything about this match - {1/2*}"

[5.0] "This is bad. It showed the flaws of Jey as a singles wrestler and was the worst part of a bloodline match. It's tribal combat, Roman and Jey shook on that so there would be no interference, and Solo still comes out and of course we have the turn of Jimmy. Which made no sense then and was still poorly done now. As Money in the Bank was a perfect Bloodline match, this was a terrible bloodline match and marked the beginning of the end of Roman's title reign going further down into bad territory. [**3/4]"

[0.0] "[DUD] My rating here goes fully to the Jimmy Uso intervention and how it affected negatively the storyline. First of all, I am a fan of both Roman (I gave 10 to him here) and Jey, I would be happy with either of them winning, the only guy I do not want to win is Cody because he has nothing to do with this incredible storyline. Man, how can I start? Why the hell would Jimmy help the guy who just injured him? In cinema there is a thing when people do plots just for the sake of it, just to get a reaction and a surprise, and this was exactly that. They just ruined the best storyline of the decade, lol. Jey attacking Jimmy made sense because Jey clearly suffered Stockholm Syndrome and Sami was the one to save him (great and very emotional storytelling). But what problem does Jimmy have? lol, they are gonna go with the jealous brother stuff but that is just bullshit, man. They absolutely love each other. No one will buy the story that Jimmy literally helped ROMAN REIGNS just because he is jealous of Jey. I really think Roman winning here is the right call, but if they were going with the turn, Jimmy helping Jey winning to turn on him after that to get a title shot would have been more intelligent of him, huh? They just made Jimmy look completely stupid and separated the best tag team of all time. A complete disaster"

Jey literally just pinned Roman last month for the first time in 3 YEARS! Make a bigger deal of that, have Roman be almost scared of Jey, and have Jey take control with ferocity, this match could have been amazing, but both the broken ruleset and the ending make this worse than I would have rated it, don't get me wrong this match still sucks even without those 2 circumstances, boring and went on way too long, 23 minutes should have been the maximum for this one. One of the worst main events in Summerslam history I would go as far to say, and that's not Jey or Roman's fault in my opinion."

The match suffers from Roman being champ, which wouldn't be an issue if A) he wasn't champ or B) this wasn't a slow burn Roman Reigns trash talk match. Go watch their Clash of Champions, Hell in a Cell, or MITB Tag match if you want some great action from Jey and Roman because this is not the match your looking for if you want that."

Why would Jimmy uso go out and help Roman Reigns against his own twin? that is just some of the dumbest possible booking because they wanted Roman to OBVIOUSLY win and Jey to look strong. Dumb storytelling to finish the match but even the structure of the match, Tribal combat, a match about whose the Tribal chief! and in that match, why would anyone from the tribe/Anoai clan intervene? that genuinely does not make any sense at all. Jey Uso is a limited wrestler, against Roman he is even more limited as he can't do his big moves and have them land, so this is a very plodding slow match. It lacks interesting spots and reversals, and the storytelling is garbage, total [DUD]"

Jimmys turn makes no sense, but it led to a satisfying place narratively, with him taking a comedic role and Jey moving up to the top of the card. I really do believe, in a vacuum, that with a different finish, that being Jey winning, this is a five star match. But I am okay with him not being able to conquer Roman on the biggest stage, One for them, one for us works here, Jey got his pin on Roman, and he very much didnt need the belts. He got his moment, same as Sami and to a degree Cody at WM39. The ending is deflating, but I still liked this match a lot."

They tricked me and made me think Jey could win, but I'm not mad for this. I simply didn't like the slow pace of the contest and the frustration of seeing Jey face Roman, Solo and even his brother Jimmy. It's not an horrible match, but it wasn't what it was supposed to be. The betrayal of Jimmy is a huge moment though."

[1.0] "Hopefully, people will look back on this match as the exact point at which the Bloodline saga jumped the shark. Fair play to the Usos for trying to add intrigue into a storyline that looked like it couldn't last another year with the Civil War only for this match to undo pretty much everything and leave us with nonsense feuds for the next eight months. Even before the nonsensical interference spot by Jimmy Uso, the match was boring and plodding in a way only Roman Reigns can deliver and then Jimmy goes and interferes in a match where the gimmick is "no interference". How this booking made sense enough to vote Triple H as Booker of the Year, I have no idea. If you want to make the seeds of a feud between Jey and Jimmy without ruining the Civil War story, why not have Jimmy as a corner-man in a HIAC 2020 throwback? That way you'd have easy tension to exploit when Jimmy throws in the towel. And it makes for a less stupid way to Jimmy to turn back to his family again. But hey, what do I know, apparently that's not "cinema" enough."

[2.0] "Yea, I made the rest of my post on August 7th, 2023; so I feel like updating this to a lower rating since I freaking HATE this bad match to this day (since I'm going from a 4 to a 2 here). It's honestly hilarious how mediocre that Roman Reigns's world title run has been in terms of elevating anyone. People can now quit pretending like Jey Uso got elevated now since Roman Reigns JUST got his win back on the bigger ppv. Seriously, 90% of Roman's overhyped matches involve 10+ minutes of stalling, his opponents doing the bulk of the exciting work in their comeback offense, referee bumps, weapon usage, and/or interferences involving any of the Bloodline members. Plus, we got to see Solo (MID) Sikoa be in this match for 10+ minutes. The crowd was also not as hot for this main event as they should've been (even though it's APPARENTLY supposed to be the HOTTEST story in ALL of wrestling or some nonsense like that). Lastly, we got Jimmy Uso pulling a Nikki Bella at Summerslam 2014, which not only means that Roman Reigns continues his terrible world title reign for another 8+ months, but we also get the Usos feuding with each other even though NOBODY asked for that. Anyway, this main event dragged, and it had ALL of the mediocre Roman tropes that he's done since 2021. His world title reign just sucks. Plus, the finish was completely ridiculous. Honestly, the overhyped Bloodline story is COOKED (in mediocrity) now, and that's hilariously pleasing to me."

People are judging the end and the decision behind it, the same match with two other different wrestlers would be rated much higher. Not a MOTYC, but a very good main event brawl"

The match was average at best with some standard slow paced action mixed in with some weapon based spots throughout but what made it really bad was the stupid Jimmy uso turn that reeks of Vince Russo In Wcw 2000 a turn for the sake of a turn just pure shock value and nothing else. Just garbage booking and just another reason as to why cody should've won the title at mania 39. Most overrated title reign of all time. 1.75/5"

[4.0] "So, this is how one of the best storylines in a long time & probably one of the highest numbers pulling magnets met its end? The hype for this match was godly and I, for genuine sake, thought that we'd witness another masterstroke of storytelling just like their 2020 encounters. From the entrance of both lads to the initial stages, my hype didn't steep low at all. The process was well known and I was waiting patiently for the climax, but all we had was a deliberate attempt to pull off a forced 'epic' conclusion. The action was at .25x rate with all the high-key spots executed nicely and the interferences were expected even though they weren't destined to be if I understood the term 'Tribal Combat' right. From here to the current stage, I still don't buy the reason behind Jimmy's turn! The reason felt so generic like a usual tag-team breakup. Look at both men now; Jey is currently one of the supremely loved stars while Jimmy is floundering as an unserious act. Is that an intentional way of billing Jimmy as the victim of everything? I don't know! If this is the way things are heading towards this year between the Uso brothers, I think it's a wrong first step and I do hope that it'll be cleared with the next steps being right and rigid. 2 out of 5 stars!"

I feel like I'm being redundant running down all of the individual elements that I hate, but let's just list them all off one more time, because I think this is the last truly heinous one of these Roman did. (1) Predictable ref bump spots, (2) Roman's insistence on showing up to work to put on acting performances that wouldn't have cut it in the one-act plays I directed in high school instead of just wrestling (3) the pacing that makes me feel the seconds of my finite human existence being wasted. Who likes these? Why? And then there's all the bullshit unique to this match. The no-DQ stip attached for the purpose of "Tribal Combat", which only gives Roman more license to wander around aimlessly instead of doing the fucking match, and the fact that the one defining quality of "Tribal Combat" was meant to be that the Bloodline couldn't interfere, and that the match STILL ended in Bloodline interference of the most illogical variety... Seriously, fuck this match."

It was slow, predictable and didn't give me the big fight feel. The interference of Solo Sikoa completely took me out of the match. It wasn't good even from an in ring standpoint as they didn't fully utilise the hardcore stipulation and 3 year long story. Such a boring slog where even the technically good spots fall flat for a crowd who just didn't care, it goes on and on and ON without an ending being in sight, and then when it finally does end, its just the same old Roman title defence finish we've seen a hundred times over at this point, only with a bafflingly stupid twist thrown in to make the match memorable for all the wrong reasons. Say what you will about the Bloodline storyline good or bad, but there is absolutely no defending Jimmy's turn, it still doesn't make sense months later, and it spat in the face of the arch him and Jey had up to this point. Just more proof that Roman should've lost to Cody or Sami, this match doesn't come remotely close to the excellent pair of matches Roman and Jey had in 2020. What a mess!"

Jimmy wasn't with Roman, he was out there out of jealousy because Jey was getting all these opportunities and Jimmy felt slighted that he wasn't getting them as well. However, these Roman title defenses get significantly more and more formulaic, and the melodrama is starting to wear thin on me. It reads more like I'm watching the final minutes of Infinity War, except played over and over and over again. I'm getting sick of them reusing the same exact finish every single time, but the work up until that point was fine. Quite a few spots that were different than the usual. However, not the masterpiece it's trying to be. ***1/4 EDIT: I'm unsure why Jimmy returned to Roman's side, the complaints are starting to feel completely warranted."

Just another Roman Reigns' match, slow as hell, full of interferences when the challenger is about to beat him and laughing in the face of the fans by making them believe this will finally be the moment Roman finally loses just to make him win again thanks to his cousins. The whole Tribal Combat gimmick wasn't visible at all in the match, just before the bell rang when Roman told Jey he would personally give him the necklacke if Jey beats him. Roman took a huge shit on Tribal traditions by not handle the business by himself. The good part of all this is the performances of both Jey and Roman were really good, mostly on the storytelling and psychological part, as this matches are not the most work-rate filled ones. I also have mixed feelings with Jimmy's turn. Yes, it was surprising and emotional that the Usos are done as a team after 13+ years, and it kinda made sense since Jimmy was somewhat pissed at the fact Jey wanted to take over as the Tribal Chief instead of just free themselves from being Roman's lap dogs, but at the other hand, this is just a way to keep enlongating a story that should've ended right here, because everything that could've been told about the Bloodline is already told. Sami Zayn got revenge and Main Evented WrestleMania with his best friend, The Usos freed themselves, putting Roman in his weakest position in years. It should've ended with Cody at Mania. Everything after that, excepting the Usos turning on Roman, was just milking the story all they could. Another match for the collection of a SummerSlam that was "ruined" by bad booked matches (***)"

Jey did his best to look like a star here, and to his credit, he's over as hell right now, but I don't think it was because of this match. Jimmy's turn was awful and made little sense, and has exposed him as a weaker wrestler between him and his brother. 2.75 Stars."

I can respect if they want to keep Roman Reigns as world champion for a lot longer, but the fatigue in this match formula of Roman needing help every time he wrestles to win a match really started to wear off here. No one looked good here, but particularly Roman as he's meant to be world champion, yet he's a part timer that can't win anything by himself anymore it seems."

[5.0] "This felt like the weakest of Reigns title defences. Reigns' matches are usually quite slow, but this felt even slower : almost nothing happens for the first half of the match, both men spending much of the time lying on the floor. It became better after Solo's intervention but nothing memorable until the finish. But even there, Jimmy's treason feels like a cheap way to create a shock moment. 5/10."
