The first fifteen to twenty minutes or so is really good with eliminations occurring. It slows down a bit when it is Rock and Jericho vs Austin and Angle, but really picks back up again when it's Rock vs Austin of course. Angle helps out team WWF and this was great all around. ****.5"

[9.0] "The end of the invasion angle right here. It ends in a 45-minute classic which sees Kurt Angle gets his revenge on Steve Austin for his betrayal months earlier by betraying him and giving the WWF the victory. I remember being underwhelmed the first time I saw this and was perplxed by the high rating from Meltzer. I'm thinking it was video quality, because watching it on Netflix, this is fantastic. My only problem was the last 2 guys came down to Rock Vs. Austin. Nothing screams WWF Vs. WCW more than that, does it?"

[7.0] "Can't believe I'm saying this, but I honestly would've preferred if the match didn't break down around the 15-20 minute mark, because everyone was getting enjoyable offense in, and the flow of the match was engaging. After that, it just becomes a traditional Attitude Era car crash, which is fine if you're into that, but it's not really my thing. The Y2J heel turn was great though, and served as a great fender for the progression of his character, and eventual Undisputed championship win the following month. My only complaint, is that it should've happened after the match, to leave the show on a cliffhanger. It would've worked better than the obvious, "WWF wins! ". Regardless, still an entertaining match in a lot of parts and was worth revisiting. ****"

I don't think anyone was all for it with this story, especially when the WCW representatives were mostly guys from WWF. But for what it's worth, this was fun to revisit. The pep talk before the match began by Vince was so long and boring, lol. Speaking of Vince, man found a loophole to make him the babyface for once and it kinda worked thanks to his son."

[7.0] "I think I used to like this match more in my younger years than I do now. It is still an outstandingly hot match, but with a critical eye, it falters some. The biggest problem is the predictability. The fact that the WWF was clearly going to win without doubt capped this match's greatness to begin with. I think everyone also could have predicted that the match would come down to one on one too. Almost certainly between Rock and Austin. However, each man even gets eliminated in the exact order they enter per team. That adds another layer of predictability. These are all tippy top guys, yet most eliminations come either without proper impact or before the person really gets going. Big Show, for example, is barely in the match and seems to just come in to get eliminated. Kane is eliminated with a simple jumping kick. Jericho's elimination was an awkward pinning combination. Angle taps after a short sharpshooter. And while Angle's elimination happened this way because he betrays the Alliance, in the moment, it still feels flat. Very few of these eliminations feel impactful for the talent and legacy of the man getting beaten. Of course, everyone talks about the fact that the Alliance team was barely a representation of who SHOULD have been on that team, so I won't beat that horse, but it bears being mentioned. Now, all of these little holes I'm poking into this match doesn't mean it is bad. It is a very hot match, and everyone is so emotional, it absolutely does get you to suspend your disbelief and live in the moment. In fact, that is what makes it as good as it is. This match makes you really feel like this is the end of the Monday Night War, even though it really ended almost a year prior. Everything this match represented and symbolized made it bigger than the in ring action. It is still one of the best crafted Survivor Series matches of all time. Watching this match casually is SO much better than watching it critically. It is a legendary match for a reason, and for all of its flaws, it really does a great job at taking you back to a nostalgic time. As a P.S., this match also has my favorite Kane attire of all time! Shame he only wore it once."

[9.0] "The invasion angle is one of the most famous botched angles in wrestling history. On paper should have been an all timer. WCW and ECW wrestlers invade the WWF. It was something every wrestling fan of that time dreamt about. Seeing Stone Cold go up against Goldberg. Sting against Taker. Rock against Hogan thankfully that one came true and it was a dream match that lived up to expectations. But Vince being Vince refused to put his hand in his pocket. So all the top WCW guys sat at home on their giant Turner contracts and only came in when the angle was over. The only two top stars who came in were Booker T and DDP. Both were treated poorly and DDP went from being a WCW top guy to being dead and buried to the point he might as well have been mummified. A lot of money was left on the table. It was a disaster of an angle that only had a few positives. RVD got over huge. Angle got over huge as a baby face. Austin being able to show a lot of his humorous side. And this match. Which to be honest the invasion angle didn't deserve a blow off match as good as this. I think Vince knew the angle had failed. Instead of it focusing on top WCW stars squaring up against WWF stars it was of course more about the McMahon's family melodrama bullshit. All wrestling fans wanted was to see Austin go up against Hogan or Sting but instead we got Stephanie being the centre of the story. It was terrible. A total failure. It was everything wrong with WWF/WWE being the only big dog in town. They could do an angle like this that no one liked but since there was no competition to turn over to instead it was either grim and bear it or quit watching. The fact this match is as good as it is, is not because of the invasion angle. It was because they decided to just throw all the megastars in the ring and let them just go for 45 minutes. Vince knew this angle was dead so just throwing all his star power at this blow off was a way to get people invested. To be honest. It was the best decision in the entire saga. This match is fantastic and its nothing to do with the story or angle. Its fantastic because you throw Austin, Rock. Taker. Angle. Jericho. RVD. Kane. Booker. Big Show in the ring together and just let them go. Its about as fun as a match can be. Its 45 minutes of fast paced action. It never slows down. The crowd is white hot. Its a wild fun match that this angle didn't deserve. Every time there is a tag a star comes in the ring so there is no dead spots. And everyone gets their shit in and looks good. Having Austin and Rock be the last two standing, two megastars in the ring together who always had incredible chemistry gives this match that big epic main event feel. My only negatives is swap Big Show from team WWF for Angle for team WCW because ya know Big Show was a WCW guy...ya know The Giant. And take out Shane for DDP but Dallas had been buried so far down deep in the earth by this point he would have probs been pinned after a chop. But Shane plays an incredible chicken shit heel. And Vince appearing on the stage at the end to celebrate him winning and WCW dying...again is one of his most self indulgent eye rolling moments from a man who had a career filled with them. A bloody fun match though. With mega star power. It felt like a match I would have set up on my Smackdown games. One of the best elimination matches of all time and a match that didn't deserve this crap angle."

[10.0] "This match was wild. My favorite 5 on 5 Survivor Series match ever. The rating is based solely on the match itself and not the terrible Alliance angle leading up to it, the fact that there are 8 WWF guys and only 2 WCW/ECW guys, nor the aftermath in which the WWF didn't adhere to the stipulation of firing the employees of the losing company/team. With all that being said, this match was an overbooked mess in the best possible way, and I loved every minute of it. They do an excellent job playing off all the egos involved and Shane really just plays the best chicken sh*t heel ever. The star power didn't hurt either. I always saw this match as a goodbye love letter to the Attitude Era fans as the company made the transition over to the Ruthless Aggression Era. If that's what it was intended to be, then it was the perfect goodbye."

"The match itself suffers from the same common problems that a lot of Survivor Series elimination matches do, boring quick eliminations until the final 4 people are around then it gets super interesting. This match isn't as blatant in that, but at the same time the Invasion angle ending up with 8 WWF guys fighting makes absolutely 0 sense. Yeah there's some decent wrestling here but too much wrong with the match to get any decent rating. The fact that a WWF vs. WCW angle ends with Steve Austin fighting the Rock, the two people who's feud brought WWF ahead of WCW in ratings, is unacceptable in my opinion."

And it just kind of feels absurd that the WCW/ECW team has 3 WWE guys on it, but I guess that's what happens when you book 90% of those wrestlers like clowns. The action was really good, especially as it got down to just Rock vs Austin, which I think is what we were all expecting. The turns from Angle and Jericho were okay but didn't feel like they had the gravity you'd think they would. Overall good but tainted by the storyline itself."

[8.0] "The memorable conclusion to an infamous saga, this is a complicated hit. The talent and stakes are such that ultimately, it muscles its way over the line. It does so with time to spare too, but not without encountering a few hurdles along the way. Early on, the work is good enough to keep things moving in the right direction, mostly colouring inside the lines while Jim Ross and Paul Heyman not-so-quietly do the heavy lifting on commentary. They give this a gravity that's otherwise absent, actively elevating the merely enjoyable in-ring action. The match staggers as they reach the final four also, resetting for a traditional tag that not only sports a miscue or two, but almost loses the people to boot. Thankfully, Austin and Rock do Austin and Rock things from there, steadying the ship for a late surge that catapults this through the gears. Very good match almost in spite of itself, overcoming flaws with raw talent and star power. ***3/4"

[4.0] "The in-ring athleticism of this match is good, but the story here is so terrible. First, did anyone in 2001 actually think the WWF would "die" if the Alliance won? At least now, it's so obvious that the WWF would win because how would they lose here? Yet, despite the very obvious expected results, the WWF are still portrayed as the underdogs. Things like Paul Heyman's scolding hot promo on Vince McMahon make you want to support the Alliance over the WWF. Second, why is a team that's supposed to be WCW and ECW have "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, Kurt Angle and Shane McMahon? There's hardly any actual representation of WCW or ECW guys here at all, which is wild. Third, a lot of the eliminations here are really weird, like Jericho and Booker T losing to roll-ups. For a match with alleged great stakes, having multiple eliminations happen from roll-ups is really strange as opposed to anything definitive like hitting a finisher. Plus, Kurt Angle pinned Undertaker when I'm pretty sure RVD was the legal man. The last 10 minutes is basically just Austin vs Rock, and the whole WWF vs WCW/ECW storyline takes a backseat as it doesn't really seem like their fighting for their teams anymore. Obviously their chemistry together is great, but it makes no sense whatsoever the final moments of WWF vs WCW/ECW consisting of The Rock vs Steve Austin. I give the match a four because the actual athleticism is alright, nothing special up until the last 10 minutes, but the story here is so stupid only a child would believe it."

When Rock and Austin were the only ones left it escalated into a very good Singles Match between these two, much better than their Rebellion one. Also I liked Jericho being the douchebag and trying to screw Rock just out of spite, but I don't think that Angle's turn was justified enough, at least not during the match itself."

Then we got a bunch of eliminations After that in a sort of slow amount of time before it went to Jericho and rock Vs angle and Austin this is where it really slowed down for a while and it got boring. But it picked back up when angle got eliminated And Jericho was next to get eliminated and he proceeded to turn heel afterwards that was a great moment. Then it was down to just 2 The rock and Steve Austin and this was the best part of the match just an electric final 10 minutes or so of action before Kurt turned on the alliance and team WWf won the match. Some great action with some boring low points in between all of that. Great match just not as good as some may think 4/5"

The heel antics, the fast paced action and the mini tag match near the end and the mini match between Rock and Austin were all amazing and the backstab of Jericho false finish was amazing. The ref shenanigans at the end worked with the storyline - fortunately that was over now."

That in itself sums up why the invasion storyline sucked, but as a survivor series match with so much star power it delivered big time! It at least had a dramatic and satisfying finish with The Rock and Austin finally getting that big moment to shine after their Wrestlemania masterpiece. Jericho's betrayal was probably one of my favourite moments ever in a Survivor Series match and it definitely warrented it 45 minutes which honestly flies by. The commentary from Paul Heyman and Jim Ross was also amazing. It was dramatic and had a true back and forth feel where the stakes just felt huge, even with the hindsight that it was obvious WWE was going to win."

The match was full of drama, as it should have been, and even 2 decades later, it was still a blast. My main complaint about this match, and the one that prevented me from putting it with a 10 rating is that well, some eliminations felt just...there. There wasn't a big sequence, they just happened."

Most people were just glad this lopsided story line was finally over and the company could move in a new direction."

[5.0] "Another of those big 00s WWF matches that is just completely generic and overkill. There wasn't even any real drama here, since it was obvious that WWF would never do something as creative or daring as actually pushing the WCW/ECW 'Alliance', let alone having them win in a "promotion-vs-promotion" match, so there was no doubt that the WWF team would win. It also didn't help that The Alliance relied on Austin and Angle, two through-and-through WWF stars, as well as... Shane McMahon -- the purest example of nepotism in wrestling aside from his sister -- so it never even truly felt like the ECW or WCW team was being properly represented. The match basically had a 10-man showcase for the first 10 minutes, allowing everyone to show off their abilities before the eliminations started coming. Nothing too impressive, but fine enough work. After those 10 minutes, the match then became entirely reliant upon signature-move spam and finisher spam which sadly lasted for the entire rest of the match. The various pairings even consistently threw out a bunch of needless finisher-steals throughout the match, just to really hit home the idea that they were desperate for this to be a try-hard "epic". There was no story present during any of this, just a bunch of stars running in for their spots and sequences one after the other before running out again to allow the next person to do the same. It was very generic stuff, but at least still entertaining in a cheap sort of way. Wrestlers would be eliminated in pretty underwhelming circumstances, with the crowd usually groaning and being disappointingly surprised rather than being happily excited or shocked, probably because all 10 wrestlers had already killed their original interest by going so overkill with constant finishers and big moves as they did. Rock and Austin did more of their energetic but generic brawl-and-finisher spam routine for the final 10 minutes as they both became the final members of their respective teams. Rock's Stunner steal and Austin's Rock Bottom steal were completely eye-roll moments, and they even threw in a bunch of ref bumps and kickouts in among their major finisher-spam focus before Rock finally got the win. Jericho and Angle both turning on their respective teams made sense from a storyline perspective, but those moments didn't add to the quality of the match in any way because neither man's interference was too impressive (just a weird facebuster from Jericho and then a cheap belt shot from Angle). I still enjoyed the mindlessly chaotic nature of this, but it's definitely not the sort of thing I consider 'good', more like just 'fine'. **3/4"

Everyone was at their best this night, with the intensity and chemistry through the roof. There were so many twists and turns that elevated this match time and time again, such as Jericho turning on the Rock, and Angle interfering right at the end to turn on Austin and cost him the match. [8.0] "Pretty good match but a little overrated in my opinion, the winner was always obvious and it boiled down to guys who had wrestled each other 100 times, all very talented guys but still a little variety is nice. Still a great match, one of the better Survivor Series style they've done."

[8.0] "The best Elimination Survivor Series match ever which was remembered not only high-quality wrestling, but also mutual treacheries of the teams. Spoiled general impression postonny fraud from Team Alliance. Best of all Chris Jericho which shown the greatest number of interesting moves and has become one of traitors tried. My rating: ****."
