[8.0] "Not anywhere close to a 10 like others think this was still very good just didnt match up to the high expectations. Started off pretty slow with everyone getting a chance to get in and work each other. Before show and Shane o got elimated back to back the same exact way that was nice. Then we got a bunch of eliminations After that in a sort of slow amount of time before it went to Jericho and rock Vs angle and Austin this is where it really slowed down for a while and it got boring. But it picked back up when angle got eliminated And Jericho was next to get eliminated and he proceeded to turn heel afterwards that was a great moment. Then it was down to just 2 The rock and Steve Austin and this was the best part of the match just an electric final 10 minutes or so of action before Kurt turned on the alliance and team WWf won the match. Some great action with some boring low points in between all of that. Great match just not as good as some may think 4/5"

The heel antics, the fast paced action and the mini tag match near the end and the mini match between Rock and Austin were all amazing and the backstab of Jericho false finish was amazing. This would've been a nine due to the slow down near the end but the false finishes, the commentary, the actual finish, were too good. The best Survivor Series Elimination Match ever."

[8.0] "Very good match here, one of the best Survivor Series type matches the WWF has done, although it did drag slightly in the middle. The first and last thirds of the match more than made up for that, and the Rock and Austin finished with what was effectively a shorter and more intense version of some of their singles matches. The ref shenanigans at the end worked with the storyline - fortunately that was over now."

Only to remind us that this storyline was a failure and 95% of the Alliance guys were buried. Poor Diamond Dallas Page."

[10.0] "I still love this match, even with the context today that the alliance team only really had RVD and Booker T as original WCW/ECW and the rest of the team was made up of traitors. That in itself sums up why the invasion storyline sucked, but as a survivor series match with so much star power it delivered big time! It at least had a dramatic and satisfying finish with The Rock and Austin finally getting that big moment to shine after their Wrestlemania masterpiece. Jericho's betrayal was probably one of my favourite moments ever in a Survivor Series match and it definitely warrented it 45 minutes which honestly flies by. The commentary from Paul Heyman and Jim Ross was also amazing. It was dramatic and had a true back and forth feel where the stakes just felt huge, even with the hindsight that it was obvious WWE was going to win."

I absolutely hated that some of the eliminations came out of nowhere and happened just because they had to, they nedded to have at least a meaning since this match was kind of a big deal. It was a forgettable match and dragged on too long, the best part of this was the commentary and this match sums up the storyline behind it, which wasn't good."

I didn't lost my interest for even one second for 45 minutes. Undertaker's short dominance, Jericho's betrayal, Austin and Rock's final brawl and Angle being the double agent, everything was great. Maybe except for the referee spot. Also JR and Paul Heyman made the match even better. Overall great classic match and probably best thing that happened during the Invasion storyline."

Undertaker had a nice little moment of dominance in this. Jericho tried to cost Rock the match, but Rock was able to kick out. The finishing stretch with Austin/Rock for about the last 10 minutes rules. It's what they usually do brawling all over the place with a ton of finisher usage but this was still very good even if they don't change up their style. Angle cost Austin the match by hitting him with the title belt.****1/2"

[9.0] "The single biggest match in the history of the WWE... well in kayfabe terms. Listen, yes, the Invasion was a very, very flawed storyline, no doubt about that. But the match certainly was as good as it could have been. Everyone brought their A-game here and performed very well. Even Shane. The match was full of drama, as it should have been, and even 2 decades later, it was still a blast. My main complaint about this match, and the one that prevented me from putting it with a 10 rating is that well, some eliminations felt just...there. There wasn't a big sequence, they just happened."
Giantfan1980 wrote on 02.10.2022:
[7.0] "This was an okay finish to the PPV but a lousy way to finish the story line, with the WCW/ECW guys playing second fiddle almost to the WWF guys who joined up and by the end of it, it was Rock/Jericho Vs Angle/Austin which doesn't sound like a WWF Vs WCW feud AT ALL! Most people were just glad this lopsided story line was finally over and the company could move in a new direction."
arrancar wrote on 12.01.2022:
[5.0] "Another of those big 00s WWF matches that is just completely generic and overkill. There wasn't even any real drama here, since it was obvious that WWF would never do something as creative or daring as actually pushing the WCW/ECW 'Alliance', let alone having them win in a "promotion-vs-promotion" match, so there was no doubt that the WWF team would win. It also didn't help that The Alliance relied on Austin and Angle, two through-and-through WWF stars, as well as... Shane McMahon -- the purest example of nepotism in wrestling aside from his sister -- so it never even truly felt like the ECW or WCW team was being properly represented. The match basically had a 10-man showcase for the first 10 minutes, allowing everyone to show off their abilities before the eliminations started coming. Nothing too impressive, but fine enough work. After those 10 minutes, the match then became entirely reliant upon signature-move spam and finisher spam which sadly lasted for the entire rest of the match. The various pairings even consistently threw out a bunch of needless finisher-steals throughout the match, just to really hit home the idea that they were desperate for this to be a try-hard "epic". There was no story present during any of this, just a bunch of stars running in for their spots and sequences one after the other before running out again to allow the next person to do the same. It was very generic stuff, but at least still entertaining in a cheap sort of way. Wrestlers would be eliminated in pretty underwhelming circumstances, with the crowd usually groaning and being disappointingly surprised rather than being happily excited or shocked, probably because all 10 wrestlers had already killed their original interest by going so overkill with constant finishers and big moves as they did. Rock and Austin did more of their energetic but generic brawl-and-finisher spam routine for the final 10 minutes as they both became the final members of their respective teams. Rock's Stunner steal and Austin's Rock Bottom steal were completely eye-roll moments, and they even threw in a bunch of ref bumps and kickouts in among their major finisher-spam focus before Rock finally got the win. Jericho and Angle both turning on their respective teams made sense from a storyline perspective, but those moments didn't add to the quality of the match in any way because neither man's interference was too impressive (just a weird facebuster from Jericho and then a cheap belt shot from Angle). I still enjoyed the mindlessly chaotic nature of this, but it's definitely not the sort of thing I consider 'good', more like just 'fine'. **3/4"

[10.0] "While the invasion storyline was far from perfect, this match wasn't. In fact, this is imo the greatest Survivor Series elimination match ever by quite a bit. The stakes were as high as they could possibly get, with the fate of the entire WWF on the line in this epic match that lasted for more than 40 minutes, but never once did it get old. I loved this. Everyone was at their best this night, with the intensity and chemistry through the roof. There were so many twists and turns that elevated this match time and time again, such as Jericho turning on the Rock, and Angle interfering right at the end to turn on Austin and cost him the match. Loved how it all boiled down to Rock vs Austin in the end. This was damn near perfect stuff. ****3/4"

Next two eliminations of RVD and Booker T 'just happened', but they should've been a much bigger deal. I have no idea why that crowd was so down after that, but it really hurt this match to me. Finishing stretch was fun, but again I was surprised that it wasn't tearing the house down."

But soon after the eliminations started happened way too easily (which is ALWAYS my main complaint with these type of matches). And then when it got down to the final 2 guys on each team that part of the match was really just sort of standard TV style wrestling, especially with the 'screwjob' booking stuff. I don't know, there wasn't really anything all that memorable about this match. The fact it was so obvious which team would win doesn't really help either. Really overrated match in my book."

I found myself spacing out a lot, especially after the first chunk of the match. There's some good work done here (Jericho's a workhorse here, even if his performance doesn't leap out to me as a classic or anything), but it doesn't really make up for the length in my opinion. Perhaps time will improve my opinion of this match - I've been watching a lot of stuff from this era lately and the forcefeeding is probably getting to me somewhat. In the meantime, though, I just can't get too excited about this."

The first couple of eliminations were cool, with each team basically doubling down on all their finishers to eliminate the first person of the other team. After that it gets kinda weird, with people getting pinned after generic things like a small package, which doesn't make any sense given the context of the match. But the ending is a lot of fun. Jericho really helps carry this to a ****, as the showdown between Austin and The Rock is something we've all seen dozens of times. Far from perfect, and probably too long, but it is a good time."

Macht 14 Punkte.
