[6.0] "This match was fine, lots of crisp strikes from both women, and good selling especially from Mariah. Nothing to write home about but a fine TV match. Yuka's thrust kick was probably the coolest looking move in the match. Mariah's heel work is really endearing."
[4.0] "i dont understand why this was worked like this. if youre only getting 6 minutes of time you should be using all of it, making it a fun energetic sprint but this is just slow and meandering, like theyve been told theyre working a 30 min draw or something. really disappointing!"
[5.0] "Way too short to be good, but it wasn't exactly bad, just felt like something was missing and could've been so much better than what it ended up being. Felt like the Women of AEW don't get enough time and I feel like this is another reason for that fact. Overall I was pretty disappointed by this match and wish it got more time than it did."
[6.0] "I thoroughly enjoyed this match, but it felt too short. It could have benefited from more time. The post-match segment was enjoyable. I'd love to see Willow as champion."
[5.0] "This match was too short. It had a little bit of sloppiness but overall the action was solid but felt rushed. Both of these wrestlers have proven they are capable of so much more but wasn't given the time or importance."
[2.0] "[*] The time limit of the match really fucked both workers over. Decent strikes couldn't save the obvious sloppiness in their work. Mariah May is a great talker and heel, but her in-ring work is really hit or miss, with her performance here being really lackluster. Yuka was the obvious highlight in this match, but 6 minutes was too short for anything to happen."
[5.0] "The tight window for this match kinda killed it a bit imo, with Yuka and May providing a pretty strong first five minutes (save for a few slightly awkward spots) that did well to highlight Mariah's strength and aggression without making her moveset seem redundant. Yuka Sakazaki was very strong during this period as well, with a typically great offensive showing, and a really strong job selling what was just a tough-paced ending. Despite that, coming in at 6:11 the stutters in the pacing and the occasional odd spot become glaring issues, and undersell what could've been a fun, high-stakes matchup (as we see with the post-match), 5/10."
[3.0] "Not a good match in my opinion, the lack of time they got for this didn't help and both competitors looked sloppy at times. Yuka didn't waste any time getting the match underway, springboarding herself onto Mariah May as she was on the outside of the ring. There were some pretty hard slaps being exchanged between these two during the match, which I liked to see. A brutal looking piledriver from Mariah to Yuka sealed the victory for the champion, I would not have wanted to be in Yuka's shoes with that one. I can't really say much more about this one to be honest."
[4.0] "*3/4 (3.5/10) Essentially, this seemed thrown together to set up Willow and Mariah down the line. The duration should tell you all you need to know about how much AEW cares about the women's division."
[2.0] "May was not very good in this, but it could have been helped if the match went any longer, since Yuka was fun to watch in this one. Why did this championship bout go for 6 minutes but the match before went for nearly 15 minutes? It really doesn't make sense to me."
[7.0] "I'm caught a bit off guard by the response to this match. Mariah continues to have Toni Storm-like performances, adapting a joshi style to an American TV format, while Yuka plays the underdog babyface. Stiffer than most US women's matches, and a solid performance from both. Yes, it could have been longer, but the prior segment retired a belt, and the following was a hotly anticipated tag match. Neither of which diminishes the work that was put in here."
[5.0] "I dunno, what do you want them to do with a six minute match? It was fine, I guess, but certainly not helping a sputtering Mariah May title run. Hard to treat a match like this as important when AEW doesn't."
[7.0] "Another chronically underrated women's match in AEW, no big surprise there. This won't go blowing down anybody's match of the year list but it was a good TV match and I was pleased to have watched it. In fact I think it was probably my 2nd favorite match of the night. I like Yuka and I'm glad she got a chance to show out, though we know she is capable of more. Mariah has been a very strong character since her turn and she also worked well here. The build to this match wasn't particularly strong but I was looking forward to seeing it and it delivered decently well."
[4.0] "Considering the build, placement and runtime, this didn't have much chance to begin with, but a pretty rough night at the office didn't help either. It happens, and I'm almost certain that they'd would improve upon this effort under different circumstances, this just didn't come together unfortunately. *3/4"
[2.0] "Mariah May run hasn't been as I expected it to be because the matches haven't been good, and the character work hasn't been up to par in my opinion. Now with Mina returning it can return to be interesting and fun but as of right now I haven't been enjoying this title run. I'm a Mariah May fan but just hoping soon it starts to heat up."
[3.0] "[1.5*] Not a disgusting match for sure but a very disappointing and bad one and it is absolutely not their fault. The whole Hook segment took 15-min of TV time so if this match only had 6 minutes, that is the reason. Nothing happened and it did not felt important at all and I was pretty hyped for this match before the show. Unfortunately Mariah and Yuka just did not have time to work so I can not give them a good rating here just because what they could have done, even if they have no fault. That botched count was pretty weird tho. Soulless."
[4.0] "Very underwhelming. They didn't get nearly enough time and were also put in the cooldown spot of the show after back to back to back hot matches/segments. They were doomed from the start. I can't necessarily say that either of them did their best to try to turn this chicken shit into chicken salad, though - mostly flat and uninspired work. Mina Shirakawa returning post-match was the best part of the whole segment."
[4.0] "Such a let down. Why did this only get 6 minutes? This never got going and felt super rushed at points because they just didn't have any time to turn this into anything meaningful. The two didn't really seem to have the best chemistry either and as a result, the match felt messy and uncoordinated and just generally pointless. Nothing outright awful here, but super forgettable. Hoping this Mariah title run can eventually become something in the future, but currently it's just not getting any time devoted to it. **"
[7.0] "A sprint that didn't get a final gear because of time on the show I guess. A shame that they resorted to giving this 6 minutes while the Tag Title match got 20 when it really only needed like 12. That said, and I mean this with 100%, this was better than the Tag Title match anyway. Yuka's a great underdog that can take the fight to women that dwarf her, and Mariah's mean streak always shines through super well even though her character was spinning wheels a little there. I think this would've been great at double the length but this was still good, and I think Mariah & Mina vs Willow & Yuka is an awesome direction to go in. ***1/4"
[2.0] "[1.25*] WHAT A LETDOWN OF A MATCH! How can Yuka handle Mariah, but Mariah can't handle Yuka in a slam position? The match was full of botches, and that completely lost me. It upsets me to see Mariah May leaning on Toni Storm despite being the champion. There's something missing here; if we were going to have a cheap copy of Toni Storm as champion, they should've just kept the original. She's not even doing the moves differently. I'm really sad because I was so hyped for Mariah May's reign. But i'm pretty sure that with time the reign will improve and becomes one of the best of AEW"
[2.0] "Much like Mariah's reign so far, this match brings nothing to the table, is given 6 minutes, and is an immense disappointment when compared to what Mariah has been able to do earlier in her AEW run. Yuka tries, bless her, but these two didn't mesh well at all. Felt slower than what both women are capable of and certainly wasn't given the time to reach a proper crescendo. But that's 2024 women's wrestling for you, now isn't it?"
[7.0] "I think the match wasn't that bad, it needed just more time. It started hot with Yuka's splash on the outside and they told a decent match story in the ring in just a few minutes. I wished the match got more 5 minutes."
[3.0] "[1.5*] sadly this match didn't delivered, which is sad because both are great workers and it was yuka first title match in aew. The chemistry between these two simply doesn't exist, mariah may tries to make toni storm moves but she simply doesn't have enough strength to carry even YUKA who has 58kg"
[3.0] "This was rough. Their chemistry was clearly off for most of the match. The crowd just didnt really care and the match barely went over 5 minutes. The postmatch angle was rough too it felt way too rushed and the crowd didnt really care that much as well 2/5"
[6.0] "It wasn't a bad fight, the problem is the time they were given, the women's division has almost no time in the programs and they don't let the stories develop. I hope Yuka comes back and shows us her best version."
[4.0] "In my opinion, not as ineffective as Hook vs Strong, but equally bad, this just felt like a bunch of nothing, I'm not sure if I complain or thank that it was short... it's a shame, because they're respectful workers, and maybe if the match got more time it would've been better, but from what we saw, very disappointing, didn't had any progression and meaning whatsoever - {*3/4}"
[5.0] "Yuka looked badly out of sorts here. If I am being kind I will say it is because she is only just back from a long term injury rather than it just being that she hasn't once delivered in an AEW ring. The whole match was a bit meandering which is just like May since she won the title. Hopefully the post match is a sign of better things to come."
[5.0] "This match was indicative of Tony's deficiencies as a booker. Yuka is barely to anyone in the audience and hasn't been there in God knows how long and they put her in a title match after like a two week build where they didn't give us any reason to root for her to win. We know the big moment is when Toni comes back but until that happens they need to build as much heat as possible on May and this just doesn't cut it. Match was ok, would have been better if we had a reason to be into it."
[4.0] "4.5 - Looked like they'd always planned to keep it short, but they just moved from spot to spot without building heat. Yuka is talented but needs better opportunities. Mariah is looking more and more like a lame duck as time goes on."
[5.0] "This was pretty disappointing. They really didn't have any time to kick it into next gear that they were working towards. I think with at least five more minutes this definitely could've been really good, since Sakazaki was definitely showing her meaner side that Mariah was looking for. Instead, this was a mostly fine, slower match that I couldn't get invested in. The post match stuff with Mina was good and I'm really looking forward to the potential matchups with her and Willow or Sakazaki. (**1/2)"
[6.0] "With how much improvement the AEW womens division has shown over the last year or so, it's a shame that they decided to put 6 minutes towards a title match on the biggest Dynamite of the year. What we got was an interesting story; Mariah wanted to see the darker side of Yuka and she got it. I really enjoyed this match in the short time that it lasted, but unfortunately it was never able to get to a higher gear because they were given such a short amount of time. Was hoping for better after how good things have been recently."
