[5.0] "A rare missfire. The show has it's highs no doubt especially at the end. It started off well but there was a bunch of filler and bad matches here. I was hoping the final matches could save the show but the Arena match was a shocking miss for me."
[8.0] "(7.9/10) The best match of the night was the fight that opened the wrestling storm of Double or Nothing. But what else did you think would happen when you've got Will Ospreay in one corner, bruv! From there the dead spot was survived by Death Triangle and the Gunns and Jay White, though in a play it safe type match, before Toni got us back on track with her World title defense. And then: that's when the caliber of the matches began an onward decline, hitting a bottom with the clusternut of a triple-threat for the FTW championship, and progressively returning back in top-notch shape by the time the Barbed-wire steel cage was on top of the ring. The rest of the show was what we've come to know from an excellent AEW ppv, though it was dragged by a spacious lull in the middle, which prevented Double or Nothing '24 from topping some of the better flagship events of AEW. But remember: the bar's been crazy high from day one."
[9.0] "Another incredible AEW PPV, this one felt much more insane and crazier with all the interferences in almost every match and the Anarchy in the Arena to close it. If I'm nitpicking I'd say Trent vs Orange and/or the FTW 3 way should not have been on the show to make it shorter, but even those 2 matches were good! Will Ospreay vs Roderick Strong in a awesome opener, to surprise of nobody, I hope Ospreay will take the international title to another level. MJF make an epic return and a fire promo! Toni Storm vs Serena Deeb was really good. The trio was very good with Juice Robinson returning. I wished Takeshita would have won but the finish kinda protected him in defeat, good match with Mox. The barbed wire steel cage was a perfect bloody mess, good use of the stipulation and Gangrel was a cool surprise, I hope Copeland is not hurt after that scary elbow drop. Willow vs Moné excellent match, the CEO will take this women division into new high. Swerve vs Christian Cage was great, picture perfect timing on the house call kick at one point. The main event was pure insanity with the crowd being still hot for that fight. Peak entertainement mixed with violence and crazy spots. The show is long but time flew by honestly, can't decide which is better between Revolution, Dynasty and Double or Nothing, all great PPV for different reasons."
[8.0] "AEW has a genuine chance to make something amazing after this PPV and get their lost fanbase back and pull in back those viewers because this show was absolutely fantastic. We got some amazing matches, moments and returns with names like MJF, Juice Robinson and....Gangrel...Yayyyyy....We had a resume of good matches including Ospreay vs. Strong, Willow vs. Mercedes, Swerve vs. Cage & the absolute chaotic Anarchy in the Arena match that was oh so fun to watch! AEW has some potential if they can create compelling storylines and a narritive. [****]"
[9.0] "A great PPV. This show was 4 1/2 goddamn hours. Yes! It was that long. However, so much of the show was worth the long wait. The Osperay match, the steel cage, match, the anarchy match, the swerve match, and even the Mercedes match all hit hard. I just wish that the weekly views would always have this good build up with such a great payoff on a pay-per-view. One thing that is noticeable is AEW always has the best pay-per-views in professional wrestling, and it shows with this. Besides the matches, the generic spectacles, and the design of the show was simply spectacular. The segments, the spots, the returns, everything was awesome. MJF came back and got an outstanding pop. Get this..GANGREL HELPED ADAM COPELAND! Really cool stuff"
[6.0] "Why did nearly every match on this card have outside interference? Such an overbooked card, but at least some of the matches were good. First half of the show was looking dreadful but they brought it back once the barbed wire cage match happened. That, then an easy match of the night in the Mercedes/Willow match, had me locked in, and I liked the two main events even if they weren't entirely my cup of tea."
[8.0] "AEW continues a run of great PPVs this year with Double or Nothing. After two previously underwhelming DONs in 22 and 23, this one was an excellent return to form. There was no truly bad match on the card, though I will say that OC and Trent probably would have worked better as a pre-show match and the FTW match was messy (with some fun spots here and there). The three main event matches all delivered, Roddy and Ospreay was an excellent opener, Deeb and Toni put on a great match, as did Takeshita and Moxley, the Trios Match was a good time, and the cage match was brutal. Top it off with the returns of MJF, Juice Robinson, Adam Cole, and a surprise appearance by Gangrel and you have a wonderful night of pro wrestling. Cheers to DON and on to Forbidden Door."
[8.0] "This was overall a solid card, every match except 2 were really good. Jericho's match was terrible as usual and Cassidy vs Trent was very plain and didn't add anything to the show overall. The last 4 matches were all really good, Takeshita and Mox was overbooked but still pretty good, and the first 3 matches were all really good. Plus we got the long awaited MJF return."
[5.0] "On paper, this was a pretty good card. But in reality, none of the matches were really as good as you'd expect. Some stuff are pretty good(The Opener, The TBS title match, The World title match) but even those matches under delivered. Other matches either have the wrong person going over(Malakai VS Copeland, Takeshita Vs Moxley) Are not on the level of being a PPV match(Trios title match, Women's title match, Cassidy VS Trent) Are straight up terrible(FTW Title match) or are so badly booked that they don't make any kind of sense( The Main Event)The show definitely ends up on the lower end for AEW PPVs."
[8.0] "[8.0] AEW Double or Nothing was a good show, although this wasn't as good as I think it could of been, I'm glad with what I got out of this. Roderick Strong vs. Will Ospreay was a great opening match to kick off the show. With a mini Adam Cole segment right after, which led to a returning MJF! That was awesome.(4.5 stars) Bang Bang Gang vs. Death Triangle was next and it was an ok match.(3 stars) Toni Storm vs. Serena Deeb was an ok match as well. Wasn't really into it until the finish which had a top rope storm zero. The finish was awesome, thats all I can really say. (3 stars) Orange Cassidy vs. Trent Beretta was a good match, the Don Callis bit at the end caught me off gaurd. My only complaint is that it went on for 13 minutes. (3.5 stars) Chris Jericho vs. Hook vs. Katsuyori Shibata. Ok. This might be just me, but i really like the FTW matches. Idk, I just like the hardcore stuff I guess. But I really enjoyed this one. (3.5 stars) Jon Moxley vs. Konosuke Takeshita was a solid IWGP Title Eliminator match. (4 stars) Adam Copeland vs. Malakai Black was something pretty special. Unfortunately Adam got injured but despite all of that, this was a great match with Gangrel returning to help Copeland fend off House of Black. (4.75 stars) Mercedes Moné vs. Willow Nightingale was an excellent TBS Title match. I wasn't too interested in this but when i re watched it back I enjoyed it (4 stars) Swerve Strickland vs. Christian Cage is a little weird imo because yes the story is there, but I guess I didn't wanna see Swerve defend the title against Christian Cage. But the match was ok, I did enjoy some of it. (3.25 stars) Now time for the main event. the Anarchy in the Arena match was imo the best AEW has ever put on. Darby Allin hanging upside down by the feet was nuts, what was even crazier was that Jack Perry would be lit on fire. Safe to say this bumped the show up for me. (5 stars)"
[8.0] "I'm not usually a fan of builds to AEW PPV's that build around Anarchy in the Arena/Blood and Guts/Stadium Stampede's but usually in the end, I find that the shows themselves are great, Double or Nothing 2024 is no exception, AEW's weekly shows have been growing on me as of late, they've been better with storylines and continue to put on good matches. Their PPV's are always top drawer but have so much wrestling to the point where I get burnt out by the end. As of Recently I've tried watching them in 2 sittings and it's resulted in a MUCH more enjoyable viewing experience for me personally. We kicked this show off strong with Mr. Roderick Strong vs Will Ospreay, the Undisputed Kingdom stable has been a joke since debuting, that owes slightly to Adam Cole's injury but there is still 4 incredibly talented workers there without him which haven't been booked well at all. Will Ospreay has been on an absolute tear since joining AEW and so it's not a surprise he put on another great match here, I don't think that Strong and Ospreay's styles clash that well but they still put on a great showing here, disappointed for Strong only getting a short reign but hoping he plays a big role when Adam Cole returns. (4/5). After a brief Adam Cole segment we got the return of MJF who confirmed he has resigned with AEW, that's a huge boost for them. The Bang Bang Gang faced Death Triangle next, this was quite good if forgettable. A star studded cast of wrestlers but it's always slightly hard for me to care about the Trios Title's no matter how much I try. Give them to Christian's group and I'll probably take a big interest in them, he's brilliant. (3/5). Toni Storm took on Serena Deeb next, I don't think the sudden face Serena has worked all that well but they still put on a good match here, Looking forward to the May vs Storm split but have been very impressed with Storm in AEW, bet on yourself like she did when leaving WWE. (3/5). Orange Cassady vs Trent Barretta was next and I was really looking forward to this match, sad news regarding Chuck Taylor and his injury, but making it into something to push Trent instead of forgetting about him for the entire injury is great and this was the obvious route and whilst I don't like Don Callis interference all that much, getting Trent to be part of that group is fine with me. This match lived up to a first time expectations, I would have liked a big blow off match after Forbidden Door but with hindsight, another injury affected this. (3.5/5). Jericho vs Shibata vs Hook was up next... The less said about Jericho matches in 2024, the better. I can't wait to see who the learning Tree eventually puts over but it'll probably be Hook. (2/5). IWGP World Champion Jon Moxley is up against Takeshita next, For being one of the best overall in-ring wrestlers with a great mouthpiece in Don Callis, you would think that Takeshita would win more often, the finish to this one was iffy, the referee 100% saw Moxley with the chair offense, however the rest of the match with Takeshita working the arm of Moxley to break him down was really good. (4/5). Adam Copeland faced Malakai Black next in a rare 1 on 1 match for Black, even wilder that it's in a barbed wire cage match, Unsurprisingly this was chaos from start to finish, Gangrel making an appearance was good stuff and proved to Triple H that we do indeed remember him. So much crazy hardcore wrestling at play here and loads of interference, it was honestly wild. Unsurprised that Copeland didn't put over Black, almost relieved that he got injured. (4.5/5). The Debut of Mercedes Mone followed this as she faced Willow Nightingale for the TBS title, it didn't look like she missed a step after her long layoff through injury, she's just that good. Unsurprised with the result of the match, and it never really looked like Willow could win here but they still put on a good showing. Statlander turning heel after the match could lead to some interesting matches! (3.5/5). We had the AEW Title match to follow this between Christian and Swerve Strickland, I think these 2 were the MVP's of AEW in 2023, still waiting for that Keith Lee vs Swerve match by the way... they put on a really decent matchup here despite the fact it never really looked like Christian was going to win. Christian wasn't built up as that credible of a threat and that did damage bits of this, but I still enjoyed it for a world title match. (4/5). It's Main Event Time! Anarchy in the Arena means more and more chaos, it's more of a spectacle than anything and constant action you could compare to a film, but a film I did enjoy. A flamethrower spot is something I haven't seen for a good while. It's everything you'd expect from one of these types of matches and more. (4.5/5). This is another AEW show that exceeded expectations for me, by now I should know that it's always going to be good no matter what and I have to admit they are by far the kings of PPV's. Watching this in 2 parts made it all the better and I'm very excited to do the same for all of the previous AEW PPV's. This show easily gets a 8 out of 10 for me, if some of the matches weren't so predictable, I'd probably bump it up to a 9 but considering WWE's recent run of shows, 8 blows them out of the water."
[10.0] "This PPV was great from top to bottom, except for the Jericho match; the Main Event delivered and was one of the best Anarchy in the Arena matches I have ever seen, so much was going on in that match absolutely a great PPV and a PPV that many people including myself that are going to re-watch it!"
[10.0] "Feel however you may about their weekly TV shows, they have been good on that department for the most part this year but AEWs PPVs is where AEW shines the brightest. Their PPVs always deliver their moneys worth and so far in 2024, after two all-timers in Revolution 2024 and Dynasty, Double or Nothing 2024 was a worthy follow-up to those PPVs. The only criticism I have for the show is that it did get a little bloated at times but its not the biggest problem for me when the wrestling itself is so good. And as good as this PPV was, I have a feeling this will most likely be the worst PPV offering for AEW this year as they are starting to get back major players for their summer and Im expecting some great things from AEW this summer. Very solid PPV, I would give it a 8.5/10. My favourite match of the night has to be Anarchy in the Arena but special shoutout to Mercedes Mones return match, that was very good and Willow had probably the best match of her life in that match for me."
[8.0] "This was a great show that keeps the streak of awesome PPVs on going. Ospreay vs. Strong was an excellent opener, the best possible way to kickoff the show. So happy Ospreay wom. Afterwards Adam Cole showed up but got interrupted by a returning MJF. He took Cole out and then proceeded to cut one of his best promos to this day. He said the whole Devil thing was stupid and the real MJF is back. So happy to see him back and so happy to see him drop all that babyface shit. BCG vs. Death Triangle was a really solid bout and Juice Robison making his return was a great moment. Debb vs. Storm was good despite being extremely predictable. The final 5-6 minutes were awesome. OC vs. Trent was alright but OC winning again was the wrong decision for me. It makes Trent look terrible. Hook vs. Shibata vs. Jericho was the worst match of the night, all of this learning tree stuff is just unwatchable. Moxley vs. Takeshita was really good and I didn't even mind the outcome unlike a lot of people. Copeland vs. Malakai, after the main event, was my favorite match of the night. I freaking loved it. Awesome match. Mercedes vs. Willow was amazing, one of the best women's matches in AEW's history. Mercedes is incredible, I had a few doubts going into this but she knocked it out the park. In the post-match Kris Statlander and Stokely Hathaway turned on Willow. Swerve vs. Chrstian was a great world title match, a bit too long but super fun. I hope it doesn't get outshined by other matches on the show. Anarchy in the Arena was my favorite match of the night. There were legit two attempted murders and Darby got hung by his feet and got superkicked. Plus the final countdown played during the brawl through the crowd which instantly became one of my favorite moments in AEW's history. Overall: an extremely long show that, personally, flown by. Except for the three way all the other matches ranged from good to amazing, especially the steel cage and the main event. Really strong opener and the two women's matches delivered, especially Willow vs. Mercedes. Plus it had the return of MJF and Juice Robinson which were great, especially the first one."
[10.0] "2024 is AEW's best year for the quality of PPVs and the matches. This show showcases the variety that the roster have. The show has every thing. Ospreay vs strong is awesome work rate match. BCG vs Death Triangle is a very good spotfest. The two women's matches show how the women's division improved. The anarchy in the arena match is best one so far. Swerve' first PPV defense was amazing."
[8.0] "I'm not against long shows but here not everything was essential and that's a fact. Of really wanna book such a long show every match should have a meaning and an importance but between the opener and the Mox match I felt like there was some skippable stuff despite not really bad stuff. Overall, this was a very good show of course due the quantity of good wrestling which was huge but not everything felt necessary. ****"
[8.0] "A strong showing here. The Ospreay vs Strong opener was very good, if rather obvious in result. The rest of the best came later in the show, with an excellent in-ring debut for Mone vs. Willow and a strong World Title match between Swerve vs Christian. In the case of the latter, I think Christian was a good safe choice as first title feud for Swerve; while the end result wasn't really in doubt, Christian's character work would virtually guarantee entertaining TV, while the resulting match would be good at minimum. Getting a win over him adds a strong name to Swerve's title defense resume and Christian's own standing isn't hurt by losing the match at all. Anyway, the rest of the traditional matches were at least all solid; Copeland vs Black in the cage match was mostly good but somewhat marred by Copeland's ill-advised decision to do that cage dive. Mox vs Takeshita was also fine, but wasn't necessarily a match that needed to happen since the belt wasn't directly on the line. Storm vs Deeb, OC vs Trent and the Trios Title match were all OK. FTW Title three-way was easily the show's weakest point. Outside the traditional matches, the Anarchy in the Arena match was a lot of fun - just a good mix of extreme spots, comedy and a few "WTF" moments that made it a fun watch (I especially loved the visual of Darby doing the Coffin Drop off the ledge just as the chorus of "Final Countdown" hit). Of course the biggest news of the night might well be outside the matches, as MJF made his return with a memorable promo. If decimals were allowed I'd probably go 7.5 - I don't think it was *quite* as strong as Dynasty - but I'll round up."
[9.0] "Great show. MJF being back will do so much for this company. Ospreay winning the international championship is the perfect call. Cam definitely see him defending it on the indies. Uganda? Adam Cole took a suplex so he could be back soon. Women's matches were very good Copeland risked it all in that match that absolutely delievered..Anarchy was such wild shit. Never seen happen what they did to Darby. OSPREAY. MERCEDES. OKADA. SWERVE. ALL CHAMPS. MJF is back. This is the DYNASTY. Also, rock hard is back. Fun show"
[9.0] "This was a cluttered show, but still very enjoyable. Roderick Strong kicked things off with his International Title defence against Will Osprey in a fantastic match. The Bang Bang Gang and Death Triangle then battled over the AEW Trios Titles and the ROH World Six Man Tag Team Titles in a match that was much better than I expected after Collision. Toni Storm then defended her World Women's Title against Serena Deeb in another match that managed to exceed my expectations. Orange Cassidy and Trent Beretta had a fine match, but the wrong guy won and it didn't need to be on Pay-Per-View. Chris Jericho retained his FTW Title over both Hook and Katsuyori Shibata in another match that didn't need to be on Pay-Per-View. Jon Moxley and Konosuke Takeshita had a slow and methodical, but very good, match to get things back on track. Adam Copeland defended his TNT Title against Malakai Black inside a barbed wire steel cage, breaking his leg in the process. Mercedes Mone defeated Willow Nightingale for the TBS Title an excellent match. Swerve Strickland and Christian Cage had another banger for the World Heavyweight Title before The Elite and FTR, Bryan Danielson, and Darby Allin had the match of the night with Anarchy in the Arena."
[8.0] "A solid card with some pretty middling lows and a fantastic high. Started strong with Ospreay v Strong, had two decent bouts with the Trios match and Women's Championship - Toni Storm's gimmick continues to hold her up, even if I think her performances in the ring aren't amazing - with the Cassidy/Beretta match making up for middling booking with a genuine brutal atmosphere to compensate. I didn't hate the FTW match - Jericho's Learning Tree gimmick is so over-the-top it's hilarious, though I haven't been watching the weekly shows for a bit, so it hasn't worn out it's welcome for me yet. The match itself was fine, with a lot of silly spots and interferences to keep it interesting. Honestly, the biggest downer of the night was the Moxley/Takeshita eliminator match - I dunno, I like Takeshita, and Moxley might be my favorite wrestler in AEW, but something was just... missing in this match. I didn't care for the injured Mox angle, and there were so many moments that were peak 'just pin him! ' where Takeshita could've gone for the win, but didn't. It wasn't awful, but it did nothing for me. Sans the stupid cage jump spot, Copeland/Black was great, great fun, especially with all the silly swerve stuff with the HoB pretending to betray Malakai, and Gangrel's appearence got a good laugh out of me - shame it cost Copeland months from his career. Mone/Nightingale had a brutality to it I just didn't expect from the latter, and having never seen Mone in WWE, I was super impressed by her debut AEW performance. Swerve/Cage was great fun, with all the dumb interference you'd expect from the Patriarchy, but it worked into a match that was never really in doubt. But the Anarchy in the Arena... man, hearing Justin Roberts utter 'Welcome to the s! $tshow' set the mood perfectly. The insane brawls spreading throughout the arena, the Final Countdown playing, Darby and Jack brawling in the back, truck spots, Okada being a nutjob, FTR kicking ass, the Bucks being assholes whilst still effortlessly kicking ass... THE FLAMETHROWER. It's the natural of the madness wrestling can devolve into - a messy, objectively stupid bout that shouldn't work but it just... does. I loved it, so much, and I'm glad it's not the end of this longrunning EVP storyline - I just hope they can bring something to the table that matched Anarchy in the Arena. Amazing stuff, though I'd totally get it if someone didn't like it much. Overall, decent PPV; It wasn't all winners, but where it counted for AEW's future? I think they nailed it."
[9.0] "Other than some weird booking decision this PPV was amazing. Not a single bad match in my opinion. The first and last match were classics for totally different reasons, production value was decent and my second favorite comeback in wrestling history happened, MJF's comeback was immaculate. The music, the room tour with all the items that signify him, Adam Cole's reaction, the crowd pop, and most importantly him embracing the fact that he is meant to be a heel and he is the best in the world when he is a heel. HE'S BACK!"
[9.0] "Really brilliant, many good matches even tho I'm agree that many of these were too long (Mox Takeshita, Swerve Christian). Whole ppv was ofc too long too (5h wtf) but it was still really great. MJF coming back, big win for Ospreay, really good AITA match. Many things happened imo and Im not agree with the "booking issues", it was really solid imo."
[6.0] "The backend of this show was great, but the start of this show outside of Ospreay/Strong, and that stretch from the trios match to the FTW title was pretty rough. The matches Werner horrible except for the Jericho match, but the other ones weren't PPV quality. Once Moxley/Takeshita starts this show picks up and never really looks back outside of maybe Swerve/Christian. The MOTN was probably Anarchy In The Arena. Solid show that definitely could've done without some of the matches."
[9.0] "Surprised by the mixed reaction to this online. I wasn't super keen on the main event, and there wasn't a nailed-on MOTYC as there usually is, but it felt like nearly everything was good to excellent. It's a long show but I never watch any wrestling in one block so splitting it over a few days is normal to me. I found it a really fun show."
[10.0] "A perfect PPV in my opinion, it had everything from hardcore matches to big surprises to technical masterpieces to spotfests to story driven matches to a few women's matches that turned out to be great to major title changes to big impressive spots An easy 10/10 for me"
[7.0] "Of the 10 total matches on the card, 6 ranged from great to decent. I'll take 60%. They were good enough to go above a 6 for me. A serious problem that's been plaguing AEW ppvs is the running time. 4 hours and 30 minutes not counting the pre show is too much. These days I watch until about 11 and finish it the next day. Even when the matches are great it gets exhausting. This wasn't the best DoN but it was a solid show."
[3.0] "If you would have told me that 2 of the 3 best matches on the card would've been the women's matches I don't think I'd have believed it. There were 3 (maybe 4) matches where logic and wrestling took place and then a bunch of messy nonsense that made little sense. This had more bad matches on it than any previous AEW ppv and ends their streak of great PPVs. The best few matches, none of them were great. Just good. Unfortunate with the amount of talent on this roster that they struggle at times to deliver passable shows even. Looking forward to what rises from the ashes of this. *1/2"
[7.0] "I was expecting more, but it was good enough show. Ospreay was MOTN for me, Trios was meh, Toni storm was good, Orange Cassidy was terrible, Jericho was fun, Mox was horrible, Copeland was bad, Mercedes was ok, Strickland did great, and the anarchy one needed more... anarchy"
[6.0] "A PPV you can almost split into three chunks. A decent start with two solid matches, a really badly thought out and booked middle before the cage match between Copeland and Black gets the show back on track before it ends in a messy but fun anarchy in the arena match. Definitely the worst AEW PPV I've seen, but then I barely follow American mainstream wrestling nowadays."
[9.0] "The first PPV I've had the pleasure of attending, and I had the time of my life. Insane crowd energy, and a handful of really excellent matches really made the night for me."
[10.0] "I've watched the most PPVs between 2004 and 2009 and you could cut out 2 of the 3 main events here and it'd easily be a top 3 PPV of the Year. With 3 banger main events and each segment and match showcase a different aspect of the art of pro wrestling, it's incredible how it doesn't stand out as much compared to, say, Revolution. As wrestling fans, we're eating so good nowadays."
[6.0] "Way too many matches, you could easily cut 3 matches on this card and it would flow so much better. The opener was great, after that it's a bit hit and miss. The 6 man tag was average and had a finish I'd expect from a classic wwe ppv and not in a good way which is a shame. Then 3 absolutely heatless matches, the only thing that got me going was OC having the pixies theme song back because that's cool af. Mox vs Takeshita shouldve been on Dynamite. Final 4 matches were all good, but disappointing outside the world title match."
[8.0] "MJF making his return and delivering a fiery promo was good to see. Will Ospreay vs Roderick Strong: A great opening contest, Ospreay had perfect footwork at the start, which carried through the match. Wardlow trying to get involved was funny when the referee turned round and saw what happened, great back and forth match with the right winner in Ospreay [****1/4]. Bullet Club Gold vs Death Triangle: An okay match, nothing memorable happened during this one, BCG winning was obvious unfortunately [**3/4]. Toni Storm vs Serena Deeb: An alright match to be honest, but could have had 5 minutes cut off it would have made it better, Deeb proved to be a viable threat to the reign of Storm [***1/2]. Orange Cassidy vs Trent Beretta: Felt like this match belonged on a Dynamite or Collision not a PPV, the action was average to be honest [**]. Chris Jericho vs Hook vs Katsuyori Shibata: This was a mediocre at times best match, the ending was okay when Hook hit a t-bone suplex on Big Bill through the table from the apron, Jericho pinning Shibata was not surprising to see [**3/4]. Jon Moxley vs Konosuke Takeshita: Takeshita targeted the limbs of Mox, Mox was obviously in pain but powered through and showed that he can still win against the odds, in what was a great match [****]. Adam Copeland vs Malakai Black: Absolutely brutal steel cage match, The House Of Black getting involved was not needed but great to see Gangrel come to the aid of Copeland, brutal spots like the elbow drop from the top of the cage through a table that Copeland hit on Black [****]. Mercedes Mone vs Willow Nightingale: A great match, better than their previous match in 2023, they went for it and it showed in what was a enjoyable women's match [****1/4]. Swerve Strickland vs Christian Cage: It was better than I expected it to be, both gave a solid performance and in my opinion was my MOTN [****1/2]. Anarchy In The Arena: Not the best Anarchy In The Arena match, but still some memorable moments [***3/4]"
[8.0] "This was a very good PPV and well worth the $50. I'd maybe go with an "8.5" for the show if it were an available score, but an "8" seems fair on the grounds that I thought both of the year's previous PPVs (i.e., Revolution and Dynasty) were better overall. The in-ring work was overshadowed a bit by the spectacle of the production on this PPV, and - in this case - it was a nice change of pace. The use of licensed music was fantastic (esp. "Final Countdown" and "Where Is My Mind? "), and the crowd really made a few moments shine even brighter (esp. tin-crowd mayhem of Anarchy in the Arena, the sustained pop for MJF's return, and the competing chants for Willow/Mercedes). The show sagged a little toward the middle but the opening hour and the last four matches really exceeded expectations. Best In-Ring Performances: Ospreay vs Strong (1st), Willow vs Mercedes (2nd), Swerve vs Christian (3rd) Best Spectacles/Moments: Anarchy in the Arena (1st), MJF's return (2nd), the Barbed Wire Steel Cage Match (3rd). Letdowns: I felt like the show ran a little long and would've benefitted from pushing a couple of matches to Dynamite/Collision (e.g., the FTW match). Even Cassidy/Trent felt a little flat (despite a really well-worked match), and could've been saved for TV, especially if it was a repeat of an outcome that had already occurred. From a booking perspective, having Orange Cassidy win again over Trent is the biggest head-scratcher. I was also perplexed by the Takeshita/Moxley booking but maybe their hands were tied due to NJPW considerations. Other than that, I think the show would've benefitted from one or two more matches having fully clean/earned finishes."
[5.0] "Was hovering between a five and six, but dropped it for two reasons - one, the majority of the show felt unfortunately flat, and two, no one massively raised their stock in the event. The triple main event moniker worked to at least get the crowd pumping, but the early going never clicked. I could blame Taven and Bennett for killing the crowd five minutes in by nearly killing Ospreay. Toni Storm found herself once again in a bad title defence that wasn't totally her fault, but at some point you have to wonder why everyone's struggling to create magic with her. Standout performers were Willow for lifting the crowd, and CC and Swerve for putting an excellent outing filled with interesting stuff into the semi-main slot."
[9.0] "very good PPV with lots of good matches. MJF's promo was pretty cool plus Juice Robinson's return. some matches could've been much better like Mox-Takeshita or Adam-Malakai or even AITA. some matches at AEW PPVS don't really need to be on the show, and I think that 8 matches for a PPV, is way better than 10. AEW doesn't focus on lots of video packages which is pretty cool, but they should consider something instead between the matches, so they don't have to jump right through the next match without letting the fans taking a break. International Title and AITA were the best matches of the night. Cassidy-Trent and Mox-Takeshita disappointed me because of their build up and their ending, although in-ring actions were pretty good."
[2.0] "This is perhaps the worst looking match card in the history of All Elite Wrestling, who were celebrating their 5th anniversary. This shambles was an embarrassing downfall compared to the first Double or Nothing. None of the matches had any wow factor or excitement about them, all it is for Tony Khan now is letting his ego and arrogance go to his head as it's definitely showing here. Putting Willow Nightingale as a paper champion just so Mercedes Mone beat Willow for the title anyway, What was the point of having Willow win it at Dynasty from an Injured Julia Hart just so she could lose it at the next PPV to a woman that up to Double Or Nothing ain't wrestled since last year due to injury. Right folks, Anarchy in the Arena was just a piece of garbage as the Young Buckaroos are cringey heels who should've had their status as EVPs removed as the match delivered no drama and no excitement, which in turn produced mediocre results with the Elite winning yawn! . I fast forwarded through this PPV to actually get to Adam Copeland vs Malakai Black which would've been a good match if Copeland didn't go to the top of the cage and botch his elbow drop on Black which fractured his leg in the process. Tony Khan, you need to stop being so arrogant and stuck up with letting your ego get in the way of booking the match cards now a days is a disgrace and not even watchable. All Elite Wrestling needs to produce better match cards on pay per view and learn how to cater to their audience more as they currently don't do so."
[4.0] "There were some good matches here, though nothing great and nothing was really terrible outside of some questionable finishes/booking decisions. However, AEW does not respect it's audience. They demand the viewers to know every detail of the wrestlers they bring in from outside (see Ospreay finish). They demand us to watch every single weekly show, both Dynamite and Collision (see Adam Copeland). The other company might overdo it at times but they tell the viewers what they need to know. AEW also demands your attention for almost 6 hours straight. These could be all classic matches build in great storylines and rivalries by the most over wrestlers (none of which is the case), it still wouldn't warrant a 6 hour ppv. I was completely and utterly burned out by the time we got to the final matches. If they don't respect me, why should I respect them?"
[7.0] "2024 - A fine show with some good but never great matches with a good MJF return. The card was plagued by monsene interference spots in almost every match which are dull and repetitive. Again. A fine show but disappointing by AEW's standards."
[5.0] "Way too long, I watched the pre show so this was 6 hours top to bottom. No matches stood out from the others. Audience fatigue exists and these ppvs tend to always cause it. 5 years and it feels like this company has regressed. No DQ, tables, chairs, weapons, exploding chairs, flamethrowers, magic tricks. They promised us sports based presentation and yet this feels more like big budget GCW."
[8.0] "Really strong event which has been the usual for AEW PPVs this year. Started off hot with a fun match between Ospreay & Strong which was good even if I think Strong made more sense as a winner to get Don Callis in Will's head over the tiger driver. MJF being back is good, and I'm hopeful this run is better than his last few months of 2023. Trios match was good, nothing too spectacular. Juice Robinson being back is very good for the Bang Bang Gang. Deeb VS Storm was easily the best match of the Timeless Toni run, since her last few PPV outings have been quite disappointing. Trent VS Cassidy was a very nothing match with the usual OC roll-up after getting destroyed finish. I don't really see where Trent goes with his mismanaged feud with Cassidy and generic heel character, and the OC/Don Callis stuff is not something I want either. The FTW triple threat was very dumb with a few bright spots sprinkled in. I don't like the booking of the learning tree character, the involvement of poor Bryan Keith, and the continuous mistreatment of Shibata. Takeshita VS Mox was one of the better recent Mox matches, with some great limb targeting by Takeshita. I'm saddened by Takeshita losing though, as I don't know where he goes after suffering so many major losses in a row this year (Ospreay, Swerve, Mox, etc.). Malakai VS Cope was real fun, loved the house of black turn swerve and the gangrel appearance. Crazy that Copeland can still go the way he does. Willow VS Mercedes was sweet, even though I preferred Willow winning. The Kris Statlander heel turn after felt quite rushed, which is unfortunate. Swerve VS Christian was great, another amazing outing for Swerve in this title reign that I think he really needed, and Christian continues to be one of the best heels in the world. Lastly AITA was absolutely INSANE. Loved every second of it and had a ton of crazy moments that were more insane as the match continued. Easily my favorite iteration of this stipulation and a perfect way to close this show."
[9.0] "Solid 9 for me. The highlights were obviously the final 3 matches, but I don't think Toni Storm's latest match should be overlooked. That was a great match. MJF is such a welcome addition."
"Couldn't live up to my expectations and was way tooooo loooong. The results weren't courageous enough. If so, Willow and Roderick still would be champions. Both outcomes were not smart booking decisions in long term, though I can live with the results of the other matches. The anarchy in the arena match had besides the insane flame thrower sequence zero heat. It was just a self serving gimmick match without a proper rivalry.Toni Storm vs Serena Deeb was decent, the steel cage match would have had a greater atmosphere if the lights were dimmed through the whole match. Gangrel's appreciated involvement didn't integrate so good and felt not that special as it could have been with a more thoughtful presentation."
[10.0] "This PPV had everything, Big title matches, a steel cage, anarchy in the arena, top male and female wrestlers in highly competitive matches. It had major returns, a couple of heel turns and even a couple of surprises no one would have predicted. AEW PPV's are the top shows in the business right now."
[10.0] "The talk of this show after it was "it was too long" and here I was after the show went off going "That's it? I need more! " Didn't even register that it was after midnight and I was still ready for more. When the only issue I can truly see with the show being Chris Jericho, it's as close to a perfect show as you can get in my eyes. It was the second AEW show in a row that had me kicking my feet and giggling in excitement."
"This was a fantastic show. The energy heading into it was exciting, it felt very much like the first Double or Nothing at MGM Grand 5 years ago. Opening with Will Ospreay was a great surprise for the crowd, and the pops and chants started hitting hard right out the gate. The show was paced incredibly well, with high impact matches, huge returns (MJF! ), a triple main event that began with deafening, near constant chants for Willow Nightingale and Mercedes Mone and ending with the chaos of the Anarchy in the Arena match, with Jack Perry being set on fire, Nick Jackson jumping off of the tunnels, and Darby Allin being strung up and superkicked in the face with thumbtacked Reeboks. The show flew by, and the sounds from the arena are still echoing in my brain! My voice is still hoarse and my ears are still ringing. I thought Revolution was the best PPV this year. Then I thought the same for Dynasty. Somehow, yet again, I find myself thinking Double or Nothing has to be the PPV of the year so far. Great show!"
[10.0] "Live in the Arena is was far, far louder than it translated to video. My ears are still ringing from the experience. Was live for Dynasty as well, and it felt like an equally enjoyable time. Anarchy in the Arena is especially unique and crazy. It was a party atmosphere. Top to bottom we were loud, and enjoying ourselves. If that isn't a 10, I don't know what is."
[7.0] "This was a very disappointing show. It was way too long and even worse, most of this was overbooked into oblivion. This PPV proves that there is such a thing as too much creative. It also encapsulated much of what I find profoundly frustrating about AEW at present. The matches were virtually all at least good (with a couple of exceptions), but by the end I was just glad the show was finally over. Strong vs. Ospreay was a great start, but it was also marred by all the needless shenanigans. Ospreay winning this meaningless belt is interesting, given hes pretty much the most over guy they have, but hes running around with a mid-card belt as opposed to being in the upper echelon. Great match though: ****1/ 4. The Trios Title Match was very good, but yet more shenanigans made me groan in apathy. Juice returning also got forgotten amongst the sheer magnitude of happenings on this show: ***1/ 2. Toni vs. Serena was good stuff too, they pulled it together after a bit of a disinteresting start, and Storm played it relatively straight here, which is always a plus: ***1/ 4. The show went into totally disinteresting for a while from here, with Orange vs. Trent (**1/ 2) and the FTW silliness (**1/ 4), really testing ones patience. Moxley and Takeshita pulled it back with another very good outing: ***1/ 2. Copeland vs. Black saw yet more overbooking, but was still a really good blood bath, despite the fact it looked like Copeland broke his leg inexplicably coming off that cage feet first. I never thought a Gangrel run-in would be something Id pop for in 2024, but here we are: ***3/ 4. Willow vs. Mercedes was another excellent match, and Mone looked really good for someone who hasnt wrestled in a year. Of course, yet more overbooking with the heel turns in the post match was incredibly tiresome, but didnt detract from the match itself: ****. Swerve vs. Christian was a very good first defence from Strickland, but yet again, it was mired in overbooking and interference, to the point I felt like I was watching a TNA PPV from the late 2000s: ***1/ 2. And Anarchy In The Arena was another wild brawl, but really were in law of diminishing returns territory with this gimmick now. I was really loving this for the first 12-15 minutes, but then it just kept going and going and going. This was lots of fun, but it definitely outstayed its welcome: ****+."
