While there weren't any match of the year contender's here, most of the card was great given that you're into catch wrestling and shoot style matches. The only bad match on the card in my opinion was the DBSJ vs. Funaki match. [MOTN: Konami vs. Maya Fukuda]"

[6.0] "The opener and the Sakuraba/Santino match were the most enjoyable matches here. I didn't love any of the matches but found i had an enjoyable time purely because it is different to what we usually get in 2024 even though if really want good shoot stuff then youtube and the 90/00s have you covered."

[8.0] "Very good show. May be the best in the Josh Barnett Blood Sport era. The only complaint is that there isn't a centralized championship. After doing two or three per year since 2019 (save for 2020), you'd imagine there'd be a championship.It would add so much to the hype around some of the matches. Especially if Barnett held it and really crafted a title run worth talking about with it."

[6.0] "A long show with some very nice moments sprinkled throughout. The John Moxley/Josh Barnett bloody and violent rematch was probably the best of the night next to the shockingly really good Santino Marella/Kazushi Sakuraba match. Anyways I thought the show was fine, probably won't remember it by the end of the year"

[8.0] "Bloodsport is always a good time, love the vibe it has compared to any other modern wrestling. To rate the matches too short for the Matchguide: Abe vs Iizuka ***1/4 (really solid opener that shows the volatility of the format and had one sick headbutt spot), Hammer vs Nomura **** (for three minutes this fucking kicked ass, Nomura's relentless offense running into a brick wall that is the size & power of his opponent), Rampage vs Sekine ***1/4 (they really milked the powerbomb attempt which made the real finish stand out)."

[5.0] "There's a lot here I should have liked more, I think. There are several names from the golden age of MMA, before it became financially successful and spiritually dead, but a lot of the matches feel undercooked and without stories. The best real fights have stories which leap off of the screen at you, as do the best shoot-style pro wrestling matches. The entire point of the latter is that you can have full control and make those stories happen. That aspect is something pro wrestling can promise and which MMA can't. Save from a few matches and moments, this didn't feel that way to me. Konami vs Fukuda had a classic striker vs grappler story and that made it one of the best matches of the night. Sakuraba vs Marella had the classic Sakuraba comeback, but does it need to come after ten minutes of not-so-interesting smothering? In pro wrestling you can do more to make that stuff exciting. The positive side is that most matches are fairly short but many also felt like undistinctive 50/50 grappling which ends in someone snapping up a leglock."

[8.0] "Definitely something worth the time spent watching it. As the show progressed, the quality of the fights continued at the same pace, with each fight being even better than the last. It's definitely something I'd like to see again, even something more frequent if possible. I'd love to see some other guys the next time: Daniel e Rolles Gracie (Daniel was the better one back on their NJPW tour in 2014, but in this kind of environment Rolles would do some good shit), Blue Panther, Zack Sabre Jr, Bryan Danielson, Junior Cigano (he did pretty good at AEW in 2021) and some others."

[7.0] "This was a good show. Santino Marella vs. Kazushi Sakuraba really surprised me, as I was never a fan of Santino's WWE gimmick. Jon Moxley vs. Josh Barnett was incredible. The rest of the show ranged from average to very good. I was actually a little disappointed that I did not like the Suzuki vs. Thatcher match more."

[9.0] "Perfect Shoot Style show! Give Abe and Izuka some more match time and the main event, iam sure these guys are the future of these kind of events."

[9.0] "Bloodsport Bushido was absolutely incredible, it's a whole other thing in Japan, they should comeback every time they can, Japanese wrestlers and wrestlers that are familiarized with its culture knows much better than the Americans how to fully capture the essence this event needs, the shoot-style is much more qualified, the purpose here fits puroresu so well, with all the stiffness and the variety of strikes, the technique is much more advanced. In this one even the under 5-minute matches were really good, Abe and Nomura were made for this event, and they need to be in bigger matches in future editions. Sakuraba vs Marella and Suzuki vs Thatcher were both really awesome matches, where I had an incredible time watching it, and the main event was equally great, but with a lot more of complexity, details and mixed feelings, how a long and good main event should always be. Congrats to Barnett and everyone involved for this fantastic event."

[9.0] "One of the best shows of the year, very well produced and the timing of the matches was perfect, the ones that hadn't that much to show didn't stood for that long like the rampage jackson one, the rest of the matches was all pretty unique and i remember atleast one spot of each one of them, to resume in one phrase; this show was very well delivered"

[9.0] "Really good first Bloodsport Bushido event in Japan, no bad matches across the entire show. Fuminori Abe vs Yu Iizuka: A short but direct to the point match to get Bloodsport Bushido started off, Abe getting the win by submission was good to see [**]. Hideki Suzuki vs Hikaru Sato: A decent match where both gave a solid performance, Suzuki getting the win here was good to see [**1/4]. Erik Hammer vs Takuya Nomura: Hammer was dominant for the most part, there were a couple of spills out to the ringside floor, Hammer winning with a powerbomb via TKO was surprising to see [**]. Konami vs Maya Fukuda: A solid women's division match with both giving a solid performance and Konami submitting Fukuda was interesting to see [**]. Masakatsu Funaki vs Davey Boy Smith Jr: Both in this one gave a watch worthy performance, Funaki winning was a surprise as was rooting for DBS Jr to win [***]. Quntion Jackson vs Hideki Sekine: Jackson dominated most of the match, with the win being by TKO, good to see Jackson back in a pro wrestling ring after almost 11 years [**1/4]. Kazushi Sakuraba vs Santino Marella: A really good match between these two, Marella treated this like it was a bucket list match, showed the crowd he can adapt to any style of fighting and Sakuraba winning was surprising to see [***1/2]. Minoru Suzuki vs Timothy Thatcher: Suzuki walked into Ryogoku so tepidly that he didnt even get much fan reaction especially when it came to chanting Kaze Ni Nare, Thatcher had some facial expressions throughout the match that did go a bit over the top slightly though the fight was enjoyable to watch [***1/4]. Hideki Suzuki vs Erik Hammer: Hammer losing his first match under the Bloodsport banner was surprising to see, they had a great fight even though it was their second of the night [***]. Jon Moxley vs Josh Barnett: Great mat work, great technical work, great striking made this one of the best Bloodsport matches I've seen, Mox being busted open made sense in a match like this, the storytelling here was on point especially when Mox beat Barnett considering 3 years ago Barnett beat Mox in Bloodsport [****1/2]"

[8.0] "Really great show overall, I always enjoy how different Bloodsport feels to anything else out there these days. No bad matches across the show and everything flew by with the short match times. I'd put Thatcher/Mox and Sakuraba/Santino as must watch matches to anyone"
