16 | 11.01.2025 | Smi-48 | 6.0 | A show worth remembering. The venue alone has a high recognition value and the performances are at least passable. The opener is a small eye-catcher and Bad Bunny tears the place apart with Priest, at least in terms of atmosphere. And in the main event, there's a hint that they're serious about Cody Rhodes after all and that he remains the biggest threat to Roman Reigns at the moment. There are also a few harmless matches, although I'm not sure about the tag match, which is admittedly poorly positioned and seems unusually interchangeable despite a decent cast. The crowd picks up an extra point, making it six points for me on balance. |

Overall WWE Backlash (2023) is a fantastic show and a fan favourite to many based purely on vibes. |

The Street Fight was absolutely the match of the night and Bad Bunny had one of the best performances by a non wrestler I personally can remember. Priest had a fantastic performance as well and the crowd responded accordingly, as that match should have closed the show for sure. IYO SKY for my money had the performance of the night and here vs. Bianca has to be her best match on the main roster up to this point. Solid 3 star show. |

48 | 28.02.2024 | 2pt0EcoBoostFusion | 8.0 | A very good show from beginning to middle to end, This is considered the beginning of the international PPV tour for WWE. The opener between Belair and Iyo was excellent and had a crowd that was red hot for Iyo Sky, at one point, I thought WWE were going to do the unthinkable and put the title on Iyo because of the crowd, but eventually, Bianca retained in what seemed to be a great match. Rollins was able to get a decent match out of Omos. The triple threat for the US title was not really that good and was weak by comparison to the rest of the card. Zelina Vega, although I'm not a fan of hers, got to have a really emotional moment in her home country in front of a crowd of 10, 000+, it was really great to see. Rhea would retain her title over Zelina however, which obviously WWE wasn't going to ruin the momentum of Rhea for a cheap pop in Puerto Rico. Next up was Bad Bunny (a contender for one of the best celebrity wrestlers of all time) vs Damian Priest, the storytelling here was amazing and everyone in the crowd was all for Bad Bunny as Puerto Rico is also his home country, he got the win over Damian here in what was an absolute banger match. The Bloodline vs KO, Sami, and Riddle would follow up and it was a decent match with some good storytelling and moments, The Bloodline won in the end which also was the right call to continue the feud between KO/Sami and The Bloodline for a while. The *actual* main event (it was confusing the hell out of me with the triple main event schtick, there is NO such thing as a "double" let alone "triple" main event! ) was between Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar, it was decent for the most part, Cody would get the win in this to continue the road on solidifying him in his "finish the story" storyline which has been over with a lot of fans. Overall, this show was great, 8 points. |
49 | 20.02.2024 | MahdiAbuIsmail | 6.0 | This was a solid show, good matches, very good opener. I think seeing the reactions that the show is a bit overrated in particular the match beetwenn Bad Bunny and Priest which was good but definitely not a 8.5 but the fact that a rapper not physically impressive who has no link with sport beat clean a wrestler like Priest make me sick, really incomprehensible it discredits him... even if he is in his hometown and that is a feel good moment it's really a bad decision, his good performance would have been enough (like zelina). |

A couple standouts (weirdly something that's becoming a rarity on Endevour-era WWE shows, which all seem to blur together into lumps of mediocrity), but overwhelming mid over most of the show. |

65 | 16.12.2023 | TheOneAndOnlyCactus | 8.0 | Usually, Backlash is just the WrestleMania rematch show and thus doesnt get to live up to the hype of the previous event. But here, Backlash in some regards surpasses WrestleMania this year. No matches were awful, they were at the worst passable. Yes, even Rollins vs Omos was surprisingly entertaining at times. Other matches like the US title match, Rhea vs Zelina, the Six-Man Tag and Cody vs Brock were all solid in their own right but not extraordinary. But, Bianca vs IYO and Bunny vs Priest were all very good in their own way, and were worth the watch. Bianca vs IYO was quite possibly the best opening match of the year and Bunny vs Priest was exhilarating while feeding off the energy of the audience. On top of that, a very hot crowd in Puerto Rico also helped the show get higher in the rankings, as it just elevated the entertainment value of the event. Overall, it was a very good watch, worthy of a 7, 75/10. Definitely watch the show again for the two matches mentioned prior |

70 | 01.12.2023 | danzitorock | 7.0 | Good show in Porto Rico, crowd was on fire, they didn't had a WWE show in a long time and made it worth. Other than the opener and the Bunny vs Priest match everything was really below average, but it was nice to see those fan services to the public in the arena, incredible moments. Main event was poorly chosen though. |

75 | 30.10.2023 | Kyle from TheMatchGuide | 4.0 | This show still feels like it was an important moment this year, as it featured one of the best crowds all year, and a great celebrity match. The women's match to kick off the show was solid, but everything else was average or worse. Not worth a revisit or watch if you haven't already seen it, I'd just go out of the way to see the Street fight, as it was the only memorable moment from an otherwise lackluster show. 4/10 |

77 | 08.10.2023 | ISimon1912 | 7.0 | After reviewing Backlash I changed some things in my considerations of the show, by far the best thing about the show is the crowd that carries the event on their shoulders in many moments and it was the big reason I changed my rating. Bianca vs. Iyo: good opener with a clear demonstration of how tiring Bianca's reign is and a great stage for Iyo (***3/4). Seth vs. Omos: Seth did as much as he could to carry Omos and thankfully he came away with the victory (**1/2). Theory vs. Lashley vs. Bronson: the match was really cool, a shame it was very short (***). Rhea vs. Zelina: worst match of the show and the only thing that can be saved is the post-match ovation in favor of Zelina (**). Bunny vs. Priest: MOTN, given Bunny's incredible entrance, the returns and the deafening pops along with the crowd's masterful performance, this should have been the main event, best celebrity match in WWE history (****). 6 man tag: typical match that could have happened on the weekly show (***). Cody vs. Brock: good win for Cody after the Mania incident, quick match but recapping the feud between the two it was the best match between them (***) |
78 | 04.10.2023 | JacquesRougeauCanHaveMyWife | 8.0 | A fantastic show and I might have given it a 9/10 if the main event was a bit better, although I liked every single match on that card. The opener was phenomenal with IYO showing why she's one of the best women talents at the moment and had a nicely paced match with Bianca. Then Omos and Rollins produced the Nigerian's best match of his career with him showing much improvement in the last few months. Later both US Title and Women's Title matches were alright - nothing special but still competent. The San Juan Street Fight was also perfect as it was booked realistically and felt like a real fight without unnecessary hardcore spots as every weapon was used just to give advantage to Bad Bunny. 6-Man Tag was another nice chapter in The Bloodline story and even though the main event was a bit disappointing in terms of the finish it still delivered with Lesnar opening himself up the hard way being one of the highlights of the night. Great show with a phenomenal crowd that was a joy to listen to. |

One of the best nights of my life, it felt like a party with how much we were enjoying every match. Bianca vs Iyo was incredible and The San Juan Street Fight was legendary with a lot of fanservice for us Puerto Ricans. Every other match was a lot of fun as well aside from maybe the U.S title match since I felt it was too short, but it wasn't a bad match by any means. This show will always be special to me, I hope WWE comes back here soon, I really want to experience this again. |

86 | 12.08.2023 | rbonne1 | 8.0 | Good show on it's merit, but this was definitely a case where the atmosphere and the crowd raised the level of the show. Bad Bunny's entrance and the crowd singing along was an all timer and the match delivered as well. My only real problem with the show was that Bunny and Priest should have gone on last. |
87 | 11.08.2023 | Frank Shooter | 7.0 | Triple H era PPV are always satisfactory, and in this case, the Puerto Rico crowd made it unforgettable with their energy and their chants. A PPV that, in normal circunstances, no one would care about, felt like it a don't miss show and it delivered. Some matches were way more about the story than the action (Rhea vs Zelina, 6-Man Tag), others were decent thanks to one man (Rollins vs Omos and Bronson Reed in the Triple Threat), the Main Event is what you can expect from Brock Lesnar when he is more motivated to work, and then the two bangers of the night. Bad Bunny gave an stellar performance in a different kind of stage, but he does it much better inside the ring than singing. Damian Priest is a complete pro and he gained the confidence of Triple H after this performance to be Mr. Money in The Bank. And then, the best match of the night, a MOTYC and the most Takeover-esque match in the Main Roster. What a thing of beauty both Io Shirai and Bianca Belair gave us, despite the interefence finish at the end. It was a very fun PPV, but a lot of things could be much, much better if they wanted to do it. |
