[7.0] "this ia a decent enough show that has some mediorce matches that kinda just end out of nowhere and seem quicker then they were, but the good on this card really shines well MJF v Danielson is a classic, HOB v Elite is pretty good, Texas Deathmatch 1 is fantastic. and a few other shiners on this card. i felt let down by wardlow v joe and also the womens title match the most as i expected jericho v starks to be middle of the road as its 49 yo jericho"
[7.0] "An entertaining PPV overall. My favorite matches were the trios with House of Black killing it and the Iron Man match. Still have to say I was very disappointed in the Texas Death match-up which I personally think is overrated with some downright stupid spots; barbwire moonsault, gtfo; Mox crushes Hangman's right hand and then the latter proceeds to lariat him like it's nothing, please stop! Overall enjoyable PPV, maybe a tad bit overrated."
[7.0] "Two of the best matches Ive seen in a while in the Texas death match and especially the iron man, unfortunately let down by some bad filler. Opened great with a solid Jericho match and a really great buried alive match, but the six man tag, the womens three way, and especially that four way tag really brought things down. Thankfully the last hour of this was some of the best wrestling Ive seen in a while."
[8.0] "Rundum gute Show, mit sehr gutem Pacing.
[9.0] "This PPV was incredible, the build had its problems, but when it mattered, they've absolutely delivered and told cool stories with Mox/Hangman and MJF/Bryan, two incredible matches and all-timer classics. The low card had some fillers, some matches below the average, but we also had a cool one between Elite and HoB. Incredible event, one of AEW's best."
"10.0 This definitely ranks in my top five favorite shows of all time. I still probably think about both the Danielson/MJF and Moxley/Hangman matches at least a couple times a month even a year and a half later. The first three matches, especially the Trios title match, get the show off to a strong start."
[10.0] "AEW Revolution (2023) is definitely one of the most bloodiest and goriest PPVs the company has done. Most of the undercard was great particularly The Final Burial and Elite Vs HOB, the Texas death match was phenomenal, the iron man match is just god-tier and there were so many satisfying wins. Overall AEW Revolution (2023) is such a phenomenal show and definitely one of AEW's best ever."
[6.0] "Four hours that felt like seven. Maybe live it feels better but watching on a vacuum this feels like a chore to get through. It doesn't help that I didn't like the supposed good parts of the show. The first two opening matches were very good but after that the whole night was disappointing or mediocre for me. Main event was good but it's well documented on my posts in here that I despise the Iron Man match because it's literally the same shitty draw that leads to sudden death every fucking time, so I couldn't even like that,"
"Great PPV most of the matches were top tier with some matches that were okay but not so great. I felt that Starks vs Jericho could have been better but the final burial followed and capped off a long rivalry. MJF vs Danielson were able to entertain me throughout the entire match, potential match of the year this will be match I come back to years from now. The other matches were also fun, I am not a big fan of death matches so I didnt follow the entire match but Page and Mox have great chemistry together."
[10.0] "The build-up of this event was decent but also mediocre at times however I still had a lot of hype fot the show because the card looked pretty damn good and I wasn't dissapointed. The opener was really good and the women's triple threat was satisfactory as well as the tag team title match. I'm happy to see Starks finally win in a PPV, turn Ruby Soho heel it's the right choice and I'm very happy for the FTR's rerturn. The final burial was nice match and a defying moment for Jungle Boy. Joe vs. Wardlow it's the only bad match of the show, it had a bad ending and a nonsense title change. The trios match was fantastic and I'm very happy to see HOB become champions. Moxley vs. Page was an absolute war, a tremendous match with some brutal spots and a perfect finish. The main event is one of the greatest matches off all time and one of AEW's best match ever. Overall: the show was perfect with three fantastic matches and all the other that were good or decent."
[6.0] "this event is rated too high. the main event was great, but this was a show built around a 65 minute main event and the rest of the show wasnt a 9/10 show. Main event was very good. So was Adam Page defeats Jon Moxley. Hard to rate an entire PPV high with 2 standout matches and nothing else. Check out those 2 matches, skip the rest i guess. i give the show overall a 6/10"
[7.0] "I think a 7/10 is a fair rating for this event. No idea how it can be currently rated at 9.24/10. Starks vs Jericho was nothing special, a TV match at best, Jericho is very sluggish in the ring in 2023 (I guess that's why he is being protected in tag matches recently), sad to see as Jericho is one of my all-time favourites, but it happens to everyone. I thought Perry vs Cage was decent, again nothing special and just an okay gimmick match (certainly not as good as the 7.54 rating it has on here). I thought the trios match was good. The women's match was okay. Page vs Mox was good but nothing spectacular (same old bumps we always see in these extreme type Mox matches). Joe vs Wardlow was an average TV match at best. Four way tag match was fun, but did not feel important, like a TV match with not much heat. Main event was very good but not fantastic, maybe a 4 star rating, 8/10 match. A lot of the match was showboating, MJF drinking and throwing water, and the first 4 pin falls/DQ were kinda meh, but then no DQ for using a table or the eye poke in front of the ref with 4 minutes to go? MJF's blade job was badly timed, as Danielson's Diving Headbutt landed on MJF's shoulder, not his head, so it looked silly and was done badly. The last 10 minutes of the match were a slugfest as expected in an Iron Man match, but this does mean that about 30/60 minutes were showboating, water antics and sluggish back and fourth chops/punches, would have liked to have seen more actual wrestling in a 60 minute Iron Man match personally."
"I thought this was an excellent PPV. It had a variety of very good matches including the Texas Death Match, the trios match and then the masterpiece that was the main even Iron Man match. What was really noticeable about this event was how the newer or lesser fancied wrestlers and teams tended to get the wins: Starks, Jungle Boy, House of Black, Hangman and MJF all went over more established or more favoured to win opponents which was great. All in all one of the better AEW PPVs from my perspective."
[10.0] "Hell you want me to say? Probably the best AEW show ever and MJF-Danielson is certainly my pick for best AEW match. Not every match absolutely rips but nothing totally sucked and the highs are just astronomically high. That Texas Death match? Absolute fire. I'm a Moxley naysayer sometimes when it comes to his need to constantly bleed and yet he made me a believer with that absolute horror show. Trios title match also ruled crazy hard. Forbidden Door 2022 is still probably the most consistent show AEW's run but no other event they've done has had 3 matches on the level of those 3."
[9.0] "Best AEW PPV of the last year comfortably, a couple of weak matches but it more than made it up for it with an incredible main event and a strong midcard. Poor buildup does not always lead to a bad show as we've seen from WWE."
[9.0] "Strong PPV all round and despite hating Moxley vs Hangman as it's not for me, the rest of the card made up for it and the main event was INCREDIBLE."
[9.0] "Two match of the year contenders in Hangman vs Mox and MJF vs Danielson, as well as an excellent trios title match, and a cathartic, if a little late, final chapter for Christian and Jungle Boy, hold up this show. This show is excellent because of these 4 matches. As for the rest: Ricky and Jericho have a pretty alright match with the right winner, finally a Jericho feud that ends when it should. Wardlow vs Joe was a little rough, Wardlow has cooled off a lot. Women's title match was perfectly serviceable but unexciting. The Gunns are heat magnets and medicore workers, the tag title match was fine. Probably my show of the year thus far because of how good the highlights are, without any truly bad matches as well."
[9.0] "Great PPV. I loved that for the most part, the younger or less established wrestlers like Jungle Boy, Starks, Hangman etc all won against better known guys. It set a good tone for the event. HOB winning unexpectedly it was great. Main event was one of my favourite matches I've seen in a long time. All round classic PPV and one I'd watch again."
[6.0] "The definition of a one match show. It was very rough up until the main event, with the entire undercard plagued by bad storylines as opposed to bad work but as a result nothing was engaging and the pressure on the main event to deliver was immense but they did so in spades. Coming off Full Gear it was looking really good for a month or so but the booking had fluffed its lines one too many times by the time this rolled around."
[8.0] "This show is an example of "if the show's end is good, the ppl will remember it as good". It is a good PPV. not perfect. I guess not the best of the year. It reminds me of Revolution 2021. I think both are in the same level. but 2023 had a perfect end that ppl will remember. and 2021 had a sloppy end which ppl will make fun of forever."
[9.0] "Great show worth catching up on if you missed the initial broadcast. It left me feeling hopeful about where AEW seems set to move towards for the foreseeable future and the main event truly felt like a masterpiece"
[7.0] "Good show! Highlights include the incredible Iron Man match main event between MJF and Bryan Danielson as well as the Texas Death Match between Hangman Page and Jon Moxley. There was a boring stretch before the main event that docks a few points from the show, but still mostly good overall."
"A very good show especially considering how up and down aew has been lately and I hope this is the start for a better year for them. but it was an all around fairly consistent show with there being some bad matches but nothing so overtly bad that it takes away from the good of which there was a lot. Mox and pages violent brawl was sometimes a little much but still good and mjf and danielson iron man match was my personal favorite of the stipulation. The rest was good but not great the trios match stands out as the best non deathmatch or main event. All and all good way to get the year started for Aew 9/10"
[10.0] "Excellent AEW PPV, perhaps the best they have put on since Forbidden Door 2022, if not in the entirety of the company. The matches were all around excellent, with even the worst matches on the card likely being the best match on any given Dynamite. 100% would recommend this PPV to anyone wanting to get into AEW or who may be a lapsed fan."
[10.0] "This was the show AEW needed to get the year off strong, after a pretty shaky 2022. There wasn't necessarily a bad match with Wardlow's match being somewhat disappointing. Nevertheless, the Final Burial and the Texas Dearth Match were incredible with the main event alone being enough to make the show a top tier PPV."
[10.0] "This was a fantastic PPV from AEW, who have been a bit hit and miss, to say the least, over the last year or so. Pretty much every match was good, and some where just fantastic, namely the main event which is probably the best match in company history (and considerably better than that overrated Omega/Page vs. Young Bucks match form the 2020 PPV): Jericho vs. Starks ***1/2, Christian vs. Jungle Boy ****, Elite vs. House of Black ****3/4, Hayter vs. Saraya vs. Ruby ***1/4, Hangman vs. Moxley ****3/4, Joe vs. Wardlow **, Four Way Tag Title Match **3/4, MJF vs. Danielson *****."
[9.0] "AEWs 2023 for the PPV schedule has kicked off in style! It was a scintillating night of action from all varieties high-speed sprints, brutal fights, bloodbaths, betrayals, entertainers, and game changers! Everything was explored in all of the matches, and I thoroughly enjoyed it to the core. Had a couple of matches been more refined (womens 3-way, Joe/Wardlow), this PPV couldve been an all-timer but that doesnt change the fact that AEW has indeed gone through a revolution from this event & Im enthusiastic to see whats in store for the brand."
[7.0] "Other then the main event, Hangman vs Mox and the trios title match, the rest of the show was quite average for me. Hangman vs Mox was a classic match."
[10.0] "I would be surprised if this isn't one of AEW's best overall PPVs in the company's entire span, future included. MJF/Danielson has set the goal for every ironman match to attain in the landscape of modern wrestling, Mox/Hangman was on all accounts brutal (as most of AEW's deathmatch-esque matches are), and the burial match was great to watch even if the angle was kinda dead in the water."
[8.0] "Two really great matches here, including a great main event that was one of the better Iron Man matches in recent memory and certainly will be a career-defining moment for MJF. The Elite vs. House of Black Trios Tag Title match was also a great watch for fans of that fast-paced style. I wasn't as enamored by the Page-Mox match as most seem to be; it was a decent enough brawl but sometimes came off as violence for violence's sake, and also wasn't a true Texas Death Match (that match type has a ten-count after pinfalls or submissions; this was treated as just a hardcore Last Man Standing match). There was also some solid stuff on the rest of the show, including most notably the Starks-Jericho opener, the Jungle Boy-Christian match (though I'm not sure I'm crazy about AEW using something so close to a previously-WWE-exclusive match type as Buried Alive), and really nothing outright bad. While the main event will almost certainly be looked back on as a classic, I'm not sure how much else from the show will be in the long term - but it is an enjoyable watch nonetheless."
Wrestling-Fan-Herz was willst Du mehr?"
[9.0] "Revolution 2023 was surely the PPV that hyped me the least, but damn, I was caught by surprise. That wasn't perfect at all, but we had two instant-classics in their very own style. The Elite vs. HOB was a stellar bout as well while Jericho vs. Starks is gonna be an underestimated gem. And maybe a slight card played in AEW's favor."
Page vs. Mox. Absoluter Wahnsinn was die beiden hier machen. Ganz starkes Hardcore Match. Tolles Ende einer grandiosen Show."
[7.0] "Really good show, at a time AEW really needed it. The last few months have felt like a creative lull for AEW and that included the buildup to this show. However, the big starts delivered excellent performances and made for a PPV than overdelivered in a lot of ways The undercard was not as stacked as other PPVs but it doesn't really matter since this is a show built on three pillars (Mox/Hangman, trios match and main event) and all three deliver. The rest of the show isn't bad though, although I think the Tag Team title match be the comedy match is a terrible move, and moves along at a brisk pace due to the 60+ minutes allotted to the main event. The iron man is generational, one of the best of it's kind and a new blueprint on what that type of match should and could be"
[9.0] "It was a fantastic show where the hits really hit and the misses were forgotten about. Overall the show was a solid 9/10. It was really well paced with two classics and other great matches scattered throughout. Here is what I rated the matches star wise: Jericho vs Starks 3.0 JB vs CC 4.0 HOB vs The Elite 4.5 Hayter vs Saraya vs Ruby 3.5 Hangman vs Mox 5 Joe vs Wardlow 2.75 4 way tag 2.25 MJF vs Dragon 5"
"What an absolute blast. This show was so much fun through and through. The main event lived up to expectations and both Bryan and MJF gave it their all and it shows. Overall great ppv, highly recommend."
[10.0] "This was AEWs best PPV to date. This PPV was as flawless as a PPV could possibly get. The match card, the length of matches, the pacing for each match and of course the matches themselves were all almost perfect. They start off the show by showcasing their young talent like Ricky Starks and Jungle Boy putting on stellar performances against the wrestling legends like Jericho and Christian Cage. Trios match was a fantastic bout that I felt elevated both The Elite and House of Black towards the next level. The 3 way womens match was great with a shocking swerve that furthered the womens division storyline. Moxley and Paige was a bloody death match masterpiece. The TNT and tag team matches were decent fun matches as well. MJF vs Danielson was the greatest professional wrestling match from a wrestling standpoint and was by far the greatest iron man match of all time. The crowd was fantastic all night, they never felt flat or tired and kept the PPV lively even throughout the entire 60+ min match with MJF and Danielson. With the bar set so high for AEW, Im very curious to see what they do for DoN to top this."
[9.0] "AEW's best PPV basically since All Out, huge hopes for the coming months after this show. The matches were great, even with the bad buildups some of them had. The pre-show was suprisingly fun, better than I expected. The main event was absolutely incredible and I think having less matches because of it worked in the show's favour. The three-way match between Jamie Hayter, Saraya and Ruby Soho was a little wonky as well as the TNT title match, which is why im not rating the show a perfect ten."
[10.0] "A great preshow, well paced & ballanced event throughout. 3 matches that you would recommend to non-wrestling fans. A MOTYC main event that lasted over an hour. A wide variety of styles. What more could you ask for? Sure the build could've been better but as a 1 night event this is a perfect 10."
[10.0] "One of if not the best AEW PPV I've ever seen. Not a single match that I didn't enjoy. Chris Jericho vs Ricky Starks: Great match with a great continuation of the storyline between the 2, Starks should be considered for a World Title run (***1/4). Jack Perry vs Christian Cage: Really well executed match, Jack Perry with a bittersweet victory well and truly deserved (***1/2). House Of Black vs The Elite: Exceeded my expectations, absolute banger of a match, lots of cool moments and physical as hell (****1/2). Jamie Hayter vs Saraya vs Ruby Soho: Another great title defense for Hayter, all 3 looked incredible (***). Adam Page vs Jon Moxley: Incredible match, I liked the persistence of Page despite what Moxley threw at him (****3/4). Samoa Joe vs Wardlow: decent match, surprised at the ending (***1/4). 4 Way Tag Team Match: decent but entertaining, quite a few funny moments (***3/4). MJF vs Bryan Danielson: An absolute instant classic, 60+ minutes of brilliant wrestling and should be a candidate for MOTY (******)"
[4.0] "Listen. I really wanted to like this show. I wasn't into this card at all but I wanted to give it a shot since I really like a lot of the guys and gals they got on the show.... and oh boy. To me this was one of the more weaker AEW PPV's where I only really enjoyed HOB vs The Elite and the Texas Deathmatch. The Iron Man match was disappointing for the first 30 minutes and I didn't get into it until the last 15 minutes of the match. Everything else was weak and I found myself distracted by other stuff."
[9.0] "Excellent show. One of AEW'S best. AEW all Out 2021 remains my favourite AEW show at this time but this one is definitely top 5. None of the matches were bad , the main event was a 5 star classic and probably the best singles match produced by this young company. Other notable matches are the Elite Vs House of Black Trios (****3/4) which was my second fav of the night and the Burial match (****) which was a big moment for Jake perry. Another notable match was the Texas Death match, I don't particularly liked this type of match but the fans ate it up. Anyway, excellent show, AEw once again does a great job of maintaining a consistently good show with a more balance card."
[10.0] "Exception outing for All Elite Wrestling on PPV. From start to finish I was incredibly engaged by this show. Jericho vs. Starks was a solid opener with Starks going over and looking strong in the process. Christian vs. Jungle Boy was a war and I ended with one of the most cathartic and emotion finishes you'll ever see. The Elite and House of Black was a sprint and a half with some of the best offence on the show. That knee Buddy Matthews did to counter the Meltzer Driver will go down as one of the most memorable spots from the PPV. The women's title match was solid and I was glad Hayter retained. The Texas Death match between Mox and Page was easily a 5* match with some really creative spots and just as much violence as you'd expect from these two. Hangman Page going over was the right call. The tag team title match was a lot of fun and finally MJF vs. Danielson will go down as one of the best Iron Man matches in history. My personal MOTN and a strong MOTY contender rounding out an excellent PPV for AEW."
[8.0] "Tough to rate this one. The main event and the trios titles match were the only matches I thought were a real cut above average, but the card itself didn't feel too long and had little time to get boring. The main event had very good storytelling but falls into that category of good matches I'll probably never watch again because of the sheer length. This was a real 'Sum of its parts' kind of card. It's made by a varied undercard and a good main event. My enjoyment of Moxley vs Hangman was quite a bit below the average here and that was something I was looking forward to. An easy watch and a mostly entertaining show but this could have done with one or two more high points for me, and likely would have if I had liked Moxley vs Hangman more. Even if I think most of this card fell on the average side, I still think it was a pretty fun show. Edit: I think I'll bump it up a point because the average level of most matches wasn't enough to lower my feeling by the end of the show and they really did end on a dramatic high point."
[9.0] "75% of the build of this show f#cking SUCKED, but two MOTYC in the Texas Death and the Iron Man matches, a great Trios match, a really fun opener and while I wasn't the biggest fan of the Final Burial, still was good, the rest of the card... Those divisions need some work, how can they book a better 4 way for F#CKING Rampage than at Revolution, the Women are still getting the worst and while not bad, the TNT Title is still being a hot potato (and Hobbs should beat)"
[7.0] "A good show but not as good as last year's Revolution which had so many bangers, however that show also had a weak main event. But I did love The Final Burial, Christian Cage is the man forever. And I loved the Texas Death which was the best built match of the whole show and was such a great payoff. Jericho vs. Starks wasn't as good as Kingston vs. Jericho last year, but still fun. HoB vs. Elite was probably the best Elite match in a LONG while. Triple Threat was also fun thanks to Jamie Hayter. TNT Title Match was whatever. A good show with two awesome must see matches."
[10.0] "I tend to agree with a lot of people that the build for this PPV was spotty but my god did it deliver when it came to it. Just a relentless parade of good to excellent wrestling. Opener was fast and effective and had the best outcome to put the final period on this feud, now please let Chris and Ricky do something else. Jack vs Christian was a brutal, emotional match that once again brought a feud to an incredibly satisfying conclusion. The trios match I just loved, wonderful work from everyone involved and in excited to see what HOB does next as champions. Womens triple threat was a strong, compelling back and forth between the three and Saraya is clearly shaking off the ring rust at a rapid pace, really liked Rubys turn too cos it genuinely surprised me. The death match was an extraordinary bloodbath and yet another fantastic ending to one of my favourite feuds of recent times. WarJoe battling it out was perfectly solid, I do think this is the weakest match of the night and wish Joe had retained to drop the belt to Hobbs but it still felt like a well put together match. The Tag Team match was exactly what I needed to blow off some steam before the main event, fun, silly and with a great post match segment. The Ironman match just blew me away, storytelling running from the start all the way through to the end, action and character work that made the time fly by, just an extraordinary job from both guys and another perfect conclusion to a feud. Just a brilliant show with maybe one little dip in it that was barely even a dip tbh so Im giving it a 10."
"Solid, if not a kinda unspectacular show that is proped up by the main event. MJF/Bryan is an immediate classic and very likely the best iron man match of all time. Trios match was very good."
[10.0] "A perfect one. The show had no hype actually, but the matches takes all the attention from public. People are also considering mjfvs bryan an all time classic. (*****)"
"Great event. Each match flowed from one to the next quite nicely. Each match fet like it had a purpose and had decisive endings. Great event overall, 9/10. The main event mightve been one of the greatest Iron Man matches of all-time."
[10.0] "A surprisingly great show after a mediocre build. What looked like the middle entry in a prolonged Ricky/Jericho feud ended up being a refreshing capstone instead. I groaned when the Final Burial match was announced, but Christian and Jungle Boy made it work. The trios match was the spectacle we have come to expect from the division, and the right team won. Jamie Hayter continues to be the best women's champion AEW's had, and this was probably Ruby's best outing since she's arrived. Hangman and Moxley painted a masterpiece of violence that makes their prior "I'm only going to hit you in the head" encounters look tame. Wardlow/Joe was clearly the weakest match on the show, but was still very solid, with a unique finish. The tag match gave us the surprise that I had stopped hoping we would get. And the main event, oh the main event. That one is getting its own review but it was perfect."
[8.0] "It's a good show, possibly a weaker card than previous All Elite Wrestling PPVs, but solid in execution, great matches and minimal disappointments. Good job AEW."
[10.0] "In-ring wise this might be the best AEW PPV yet and considering the ground that covers I'll go the full 10. The highest rated on here is All Out 2021 but that has a lot to do with the double debuts at the end. Three of the matches on this card are immediate candidates for my Best of the year list and nothing really underdelivered with even Joe/Wardlow being a gentlemen's three stars and perfectly solid. Perhaps most importantly though, this PPV flew by at under four hours. Tony needed to book an Iron Man match to finally get the pacing of a PPV right. More of that please! Only complaint with the formatting: A PPV with but one women's match? That shouldn't happen in AEW."
[10.0] "This was my absolute favorite AEW show ever. It might even be my favorite wrestling show ever? It had by my count 3 10/10 matches. (the trios match, the Texas death match, and the main event.) People might think I'm channeling Dave Meltzer while saying this, but the Main Event could very well be 11/10 in my books. It may in fact be the best match I've ever seen. This PPV is can't miss and I urge any wrestling fan to watch this one start to finish you will not regret it."
[10.0] "An easy 10. Top to bottom one of the best PPVs I have seen in my 34 years of ordering PPVs (yikes). The Hangman Page - Moxley match is as good as any match Ive ever seen. I was at the edge of my seat the entire time. Jungle Boy-Christian was great. Jericho-Starks was great. Hayter killing people was great. House of Black-Elite was great. Even the Wardlow-Joe match was ok, except maybe the finish. This is what makes watching wrestling worth it."
[9.0] "This PPV flew by. The crowd was hot, the pacing was generally pretty good, and it delivered a legitimate classic in the main event. The only letdown was the tag title match but that at least brought us the return of FTR. Overall this was a bit better than I expected and yet another high quality PPV from AEW."
[10.0] "As I said before I came to this ppv not very hyped because of different factors, even to the point that a few weeks ago I wasnt sure If I was going to order it but I give it a chance and I was not dissapointed. The whole show was great but something that definetely stands out for me at least is how the ppv flew, it felt really short even when it was 4 hours long as ussual, it was structured in a way that the matches really flew by. There was not a bad match on the card to be honest but definetely the 3 matches that stand out for me are Mox vs Hangman, The Elite vs HOB and of course Danielson vs MJF. I really enjoyed the show and I wasnt expecting a return from FTR but I cant wait to see what happens in the next few weeks."
[7.0] "A strange PPV that I don't think will go down in history. So many blood-feuds that there was a casket match on second! Hangman/Mox and MJF/Bryan are being treated as drawn-out, old-school classics, but both had big issues for me. House of Black putting their stamp on this card was the highlight for me."
[10.0] "Anyone doubting an AEW PPV to deliver has not been paying attention. This was no exception and one of their best yet. Solid opener, another JB PPV classic (his catalouge is getting really impressive) that was basically an Attitude Era stipulations match with better wrestling, the standard PWG-style style spot fest spectacular, one of the best hardcore matches ever on American soil, and probably the best Iron Man match in the history of wrestling. On this show, AEW gave us 4 different visions of what constitutes great pro wrestling. It might not have all been for you, but what more can you ask for? 10/10"
[8.0] "Excellent PPV that benefitted overall from a slimmed down card full of amazing to very good matches, and structured to prevent fatigue during less anticipated matches. Women's, tag, Starks/Jericho, and TNT matches were all good in their own ways. Final Burial was fun, Texas Death was entertaining but dinged for some cumbersome spots, Trios match was the most consistent, smoothest, and hottest MOTN for me. Main event was a match of two halves, suffering from a slow pace but picking up into a barnburner in the last 15 minutes. The younger stars got a chance to shine tonight."
[10.0] "I may feel differently in time, but right now I think Revolution 2023 is the best wrestling show I've ever seen. The main event and the Texas Death Match were just unforgettable matches - 5 stars each in my eye. And then when you get a card on top of it with four star matches like the Elite vs. the HOB, Jungle Boy vs. Christian, and Starks/Jericho, and the rest of the card being at least solid to good (and all entertaining), I can't think of a show that was more up my alley than this one."
[8.0] "Another solid AEW PPV with no bad matches though there was some average matches like the women's match, the TNT match, and the tag match. The highlights of course being the Iron Man match, the trios match, and Mox vs Page match."
[7.0] "A real good show that I thought was built pretty poorly but delivered when the time came. I thought the main event was a bit too long and the Mox and Hangman match a bit too bloody, but they were real good, and the trios match was great."
[9.0] "An extremely satisfying show really only brought down by some sloppy booking. Some of the earlier matches felt a little underwhelming where they could have been truly great, and if they had done so it probably would have overcome the questionable decisions in the midcard, but it's really hard to complain about a show where almost every match is Solidly Good and the final match is an all-timer."
[6.0] "The iron man is the only match worth watching I'm afraid, but the deathmatch was one of the best deathmatches I've seen (it seemed like a wrestling match a lot of the time) so maybe you could watch that. Everything else you could see tried to be special but just wasn't. At least this wasn't nearly as long as I was afraid it'd be. Commentary is horrendous too by the way. When Tazz is the only one you want to hear, you know something's wrong."
[10.0] "Three top rated matches, with the Texas Deathmatch and Iron Man match arguably breaking 5*, made for a great show. There were a couple of weaker matches here, but they were notably shorter than the great ones, and all had results and storylines that made sense. There may have been shows that were more consistent - Forbidden Door comes to mind - but certainly none that have surpassed this one in terms of peaks. To have three such different matches all be so great is an amazing achievement, and it's hard to see that there'll be a better show any time soon."
[10.0] "The greatest American professional wrestling show I've ever seen by a fairly considerable margin and potentially the greatest professional wrestling show I've seen worldwide (ranking up there with Wrestle Kingdom 10 & 11.) A phenomenal piece of work."
[7.0] "The show ended up being pretty good. There were very cool fights, but the problem is that they alternated with very failed ones. Main event, my respect. Two bangers that I will revisit more than once, but the rest is mostly rubbish, so only 7"
[9.0] "This ppv was great what keeps it from being highers is first the build to the ppv suck and that hurt the ppv as a whole second a lot of the matches were just like normal tv matches but it still had some great matches in the Iron man match, the death match and the first three match the rest of the card was lackluster."
[10.0] "This is probably AEW's best PPV since I've started watching. There wasn't a single bad match, it was incredible. The main event was astonishing, they really managed to keep the audience focused for one hour and ten minutes; for such an atrocious build, it's so funny such a great ppv came out"
[9.0] "Like most AEW PPVS the buildup is widely criticized but the actual show ends up delivering. Mostly everything was solid to good with the coldest thing being a Wardlow match which is a shame because he was really just like 6 months ago. This PPV also didn't suffer from any filler ending up on the card which is a great thing. The 3 great matches on the show were Mox/Hangman the trios match and the Danielson/MJF. Speaking of which the iron man match was pure magic between both MJF/Bryan, honestly might be the best match in AEW history."
[10.0] "An absolute masterpiece from top to bottom! Even the "bad" matches were decent and that main event was paced better than anything I've seen in a while."
[10.0] "Unbelievable ppv . i guess i can say one of the best ppv i've ever seen in my life . All matches were in a high quality and every one of them made their own part perfectly . i would have get this ppv 11 if i could"
[5.0] "An otherwise very disappointing show saved by a classic main event. A card full of spotfests ending with a slow-burn storytelling masterpiece is a quite odd structure. It's a marvel that the MJF elbow drop was actually exciting."
[8.0] "Really solid show despite the not that great build. Mox/Hangman and the Iron man Match were the two biggest highlights, with the rest of the card going from decent to good."
[8.0] "In some ways this may have been the best paced AEW PPV to date partially thanks to the Ironman Main Event. Out of 9 matches, only 3 went close to 20 minutes give or take. By comparison, Revolution 2022 (a show I really liked and consider AEWs best PPV last year) had 7 matches that were around 20 minutes give or take between the pre show and the main card. The show was very elevated by the quality of both the main event and the Texas Death especially with the likes of the trios title and Final Burial match also being rather enjoyable. Everything else I would largely call solid with Joe/Wardlow being just OK. Good show."
[9.0] "After a stretch where AEW was putting on some of its worst weekly TV in its brief history, they completely delivered on their first PPV of the year. The undercard flew by, with an awesome trios match that saw Malakai Black finally win a title in AEW. The deathmatch between Mox and Page was an unbelievably great match. The best deathmatch I can remember seeing and maybe the best midcard match in AEW history. The crowd was on fire for it, and gave Page the reaction I hoped they would. Mox has helped rehabilitate Page's babyface character to where I think he can challenge for the title again and have a great chance at dethroning MJF. Also, Ghost Riders in the Sky? Incredible. The main event. Where do I even start with this? First, I would like to say that it was the greatest Iron Man match I've ever seen. Maybe that's recency bias, but I don't think it is. For 65 minutes, MJF and Bryan Danielson put on a match that was so well put together, so physical, so heated, that the crowd broke into a "fight forever" chant 55 minutes in. FIFTY-FIVE MINUTES! When he's in this form, MJF is one of the best heels in all of wrestling (though I will say that I didn't like him throwing the drink at the kid). Danielson is the greatest wrestler of his generation, maybe any generation, and he delivered an all-time great babyface performance last night. The near-falls in the last 10 minutes (+ sudden death) was a roller coaster ride, and I was completely invested and gutted when MJF retained. I hesitate to call this the greatest match in AEW history but it sure is close. Aside from the tag title match and the fact that the women's title match was over before they got into high gear, I thought this was a great show."
[9.0] "A fantastic PPV with filled very good to excellent matches, Crown Jewel being the 60 Minute Iron Man Match for the AEW World Title. The whole show is well worth a watch."
[10.0] "I didn't have high expectations going into this show, Dynamite shows have a been great and very fun shows to watch every week but I didn't feel the build to this show was anything special. This show was exceptional! I think it may have been the best PPV they have done so far, if not it's in the talk as one of the top PPV's they have done so far. I was hesitant on the Iron Man match but I knew if anyone could pull it off it would be Danielson, damn what a match! Jericho/Starks was a great opener, Cage/Jungle Boy was very good, Trios title match was awesome! Moxley and Hangman, so good and so violent! Great show!"
[6.0] "While there was some really great matches on this card (Trios Title Match, Texas Death Match, and the 60 Minute Iron Man Match), there was a few bad matches as well (Final Burial Match, AEW Women's Triple Threat). It just felt like an okay show from AEW, but I personally don't think it was as amazing as All Out 2021. That iron man match however, was one of the best main events I have seen in pro wrestling since Kenny Vs. Will at Wrestle Kingdom back in January. I'm also really happy House of Black won the Trios Titles as well and FTR coming back was awesome."
[8.0] "Revolution had absolutely wonky build and the wrestlers totally saved that. It's cool fans can trust that but I wish they'd pace stories better to where 3 weeks to show it doesnt feel like it's all nonsense. Wonderful show, great use of money. Maybe one of the better AEW ones top to bottom in recent memory."
[8.0] "Really good PPV that gives me hope for AEW coming back as a promotion. As a fan of all wrestling I have really been hard on AEW lately but hopefully this is a return to glory for them."
[10.0] "The best AEW PPV in its short history. 3 all time classic matches and everything else was good to great. That Iron Man match will be talked about forever. All of the right people went over"
AEW Revolution 2023, 10 Punkte."
[8.0] "Best AEW PPV in a while. Some of the best matches they've put on in a while. Very quick and concise without delay between matches which is a plus and I can't find an actual run time but I believe overall the main show was less than 4 hours long which is very impressive for AEW standards with 8 matches, none too short and an hour plus long iron man match. Unfortunately some mediocre matches for me throughout, but nothing terrible. A must watch if you are a fan of wrestling."
[9.0] "Very great show and it's only the beginning of the year for AEW. Possibly top 10-15 ppv all time, Main event was damn near the best shit i've ever seen"
[10.0] "Top to bottom, the show is amazing. Not a single bad match on this show with the worst match (TNT Title match) was still decent. Crowd was extremely into the entire show which I was surprised by and the show just flowed better than every recent ppv. MJF/Bryan and Hangman/Mox are my MOTN and both are MOTYC."
[10.0] "Incredible show top to bottom. Their strongest PPV since All Out 2021, each match had something to keep you watching. Outstanding stuff from MJF/Danielson, Mox/Hangman and Elite/HoB especially."
"Good but not that good, MJF still need to learn more as a better champion, he is a good wrestler but for a fighting champion he could not give people what he was when he not a champion."
[6.0] "If it wasn't for the main event I'd be upset paying for this. Weakest or at least bottom 2 ppv in aew history that was capped by the best wrestling match I ever saw. The first 7 matches had a few good ones, a few bad ones and nothing great. Too gimmicked, selling be damned, and an over reliance on gimmicky nonsense"
[8.0] "Despite a pretty horrible build to this show, AEW delivered. A lot of criticism has been thrown AEW's way for not telling stories and some pretty lackluster Dynamite's which is totally fair but for supercards, they often hit. Every result had the correct winner (even if I'm not huge on MJF) but it felt like a statement that AEW are set on establishing new stars. Ricky/Jericho, Jack/Christian Jamie/Ruby/Saraya, Hangman/Mox, MJF/Bryan and Wardlow/Joe are all huge AEW beating ex-WWE guys which on the whole is pretty great to see. That being said, just because the show was good doesn't mean the build has to be bad. You can have your cake and eat it too etc. because going into this I had little hype and if AEW's stagnant weekly shows and lack of stories continue, It'll make me less likely to watch the next PPV and so on. They've set up a lot of great stuff for the future so I'm optimistic for now."
[8.0] "The show was very entertaining for the most part. Danielson vs MJF and The Moxley Hangman matches were definitely the highlights of the night. The trios title match as well as the final burial were really solid as well. Jericho and starks was a good match. the fatal 4 way was ok , but the main focus was ftr returning .The womens match was decent. The match between Samoa Joe and Wardlow was a disappointment."
[9.0] "At this moment, this is the best PPV of all year by a wide margin and it's right there on the pantheon of the best AEW's PPVs, which includes some of the best professional wrestling shows of all time. The weeks preceding this event left me with a sour taste, as the build felt sloppy, slow and all over the place (just as happened with Forbidden Door, the best PPV of 2022), but by God this defied every possible expectation. The in-ring quality in display was amazing, to say the least, and the worst match of the night was mediocre at worst, and on some promotions would be main event material; that should tell you everything you need to know about this hell of event. The pacing was good, the storytelling was better, and the action was supreme. Every match, men and women felt important this night, and that's the highest praise you can give to a show like this. Two all-timer matches, two good matches and 4 fine matches; this is an unprecedented level of consistency that's only been seen on Takeover: New Orleans. An all timer all around, and a textbook about how to produce top notch pro wrestling."
[10.0] "Was für ein völlig geniale Show, geht eigentlich kaum besser. Starks vs Jericho ***1/2 Perry vs Christian ***1/2 Trios Titel ****1/2 3 Way ***1/4 Mox vs Page ****3/4 Joe vs Wardlow *** 4 Way ***1/2 Danielson vs MJF ***** Die junge Generation setzt sich Match für Match durch."
[10.0] "Jericho & Starks had a solid opening match. Starks won as he should have. Christian vs Jungleboy was a war. Some sick looking bumps on the stairs and stage, a damn headbutt with hardway blood and a coffin descending to hell. Whats not to love? Elite vs HOB was everything people love about high flying trios. So glad HOB finally got some gold. Hayter retaining was good, Ruby turning was decent. Was a good match overall except I can't tell why Ruby or Saraya didn't help the other win if they were working together? Idk. Tag title match was plenty fun for a schmaz match which served to lead to the return of FTR. Wardlow vs Joe was pretty good. Wish that Joe would have got a little bit more offense in. Hangman vs Moxley was just carnage. Loved it. I'm not squeamish and love this shit. MJF vs Danielson was a masterclass. Glued to the edge of my seat for the last 45 minutes."
[10.0] "Despite having one of the weaker builds leading into the PPV, it delivered and then some. Every match, bar joe/wardlow, which was still good but lacked the heat/fire, was incredible. Hot crowd, crazy matches, and one of the best iron man matches you'll ever see. Truly a classic show."
[10.0] "The strongest AEW show since All Out 2021, and a firm early favourite for best show of the year. This is what AEW PPVs should be like. 8 matches with a clear focus and storyline, no filler. Although this show came in at a hefty 4 hours (5 if you include the pre-show), it breezed by and felt perfectly paced. AEW has struggled a lot lately, but this felt like a return to form, and a real shot in the arm for the company. The main event in particular will go down as a classic. A incredibly strong night of wrestling that sets the benchmark for AEW in 2023."
[9.0] "Not perfect, but probably AEW's best pay-per-view to date bell-to-bell. Not a lot of surprises, although FTR showing up after the match instead of during Dynamite threw me for a loop (I assumed they were WWE-bound after the Casino Battle Royal didn't net their comeback). Mox/Hangman and the main event were must-see."
[6.0] "A low-level good show. Nothing outright bad but nothing great either. Jericho vs Starks was alright. Jericho still looks terrible and wrestles at 1/4th speed/intensity of his peak, but Starks had good energy and babyface fire to carry the match, and I was glad he won. ***. Christian vs Perry was fine but ultimately just a generic hardcore brawl. Christian looked really stupid for how cowardly and oblivious he was the whole time, and Perry got too melodramatic with his 'inner conflict' at the end. **1/2. The Elite vs House of Black was a pretty good spotfest. Some spots/sequences were annoyingly over-choreographed or outright stupid but others were quite creative and well done. Omega, Black, and Murphy are far too talented for these matches, but at least they impressed when they could. ***1/4 - ***1/2. Jamie vs Saraya vs Ruby was surprisingly decent. Jamie carried this, of course, since the other 2 are often sloppy when left to their own devices. All of Jamie's work looked good, and the other 2 were actually okay when just doing isolated spots. The finish came out of nowhere and was anti-climactic, unfortunately. ***. Ruby's post-match heel turn was decent, and I hope the actual storyline improves now. Moxley vs Page was pretty good. Im pretty over their matches, but this was undeniably fun for how hard-hitting it was, and their introduction of weapons/props was actually quite creative and nasty at points, though they became quite goofy and underwhelming in the 2nd half. Still a fun match, even with their forced "fighting-spirit" exchanges. ***1/4 - ***1/2. Joe vs Wardlow was alright. The crowd was sadly quite dead, reflecting how cooled-off Wardlow is now, but both guys still worked together well. Joe's typical bruiser work was all good, and Wardlow's mix of powerhouse attacks and flashy aerial spots remained cool. Anti-climactic finish, unfortunately. ***. The 4-way Tag Title match was fine but forgettable. Each team got to do their variety of spots, most of which were mediocre. At least the Acclaimed got some fun spots in, and the Gunns remained fun as detestable heels, but that was it. Quite skippable otherwise. **1/2. FTR's post-match return was fine. Hopefully Dax stops his incredibly lame worked-shoot BS online now. MJF vs Danielson was very good but not without its issues. They paced the match well, sprinkling in good exchanges and spots with convincing 'in-between' work, too, but they had a few pretty dorky 'mirror' sequences throughout it, and I really disliked the stupidity in neither guy trying to rack up falls except for MJF... once.. and for only 2 falls. Both sold their targeted limbs very well, and both hit some good spots and showed good intensity in the final 1/3rd, but Tony suddenly restarting it was very stupid, and then the overtime period itself was quite overbooked, though I did enjoy some of Danielson's near falls that actually had me doubting whether MJF would actually retain. Easy MOTN. ***3/4"
[8.0] "I liked the show, almost all the matches are solid and well built, the main event is very technical with a touch of intrigue, the result was obvious but the match turned out great.. many thought that CM Punk would return at the end of the show, but probably they refused) it was nice to see the return of the FTR it was cool, personally I really liked the match between Jack Perry and Christian Cage, I was waiting for this match for a long time and enjoyed the climax )"
[9.0] "An excellent show. No bad matches and the top two matches were all timers in front of a hot crowd throughout the night. This is arguably the greatest AEW PPV ever."
[9.0] "Excellent pay per view. All matches were at least entertaining and most of them were really good to excellent. The booking was strong, letting the young guys, the future of the company and AEW originals look strong and go over the established and older stars. I liked that a lot. The main event was the match of the night, it was as good as Iron Man matches and their inherent limitations (i. e. knowing the match time beforehand) could go and in the end they cheated and added sudden death overtime to make it really dramatic -- and it worked, the crowd was red hot even after 5+ hours of wrestling (including Zero Hour). The Texas Death match was brutual, but excellent. Moxley is a sick fuck. The Trios match was super fun and I loved seeing the Elite against seemingly new opponents for them. Jack Perry and Christian had a fantastic match. Ricky Starks looked strong against Chris Jericho, who worked hard and led Ricky to a good match. Wardlow and Samoa Joe tried and had to live with a tired crowd after the Texas Death match, but the ending was super interesting and again the right move. The women also worked really hard and IMO made great use of the three way stipulation. The Four Way Tag Team match was the expected lowlight from a match quality perspective, but they did work hard, had the only comedy aspects of the show and were ultimately perfectly placed to have a nice return pop for FTR and prime the crowd for the main event again. All in all one of the best top-to-bottom pay per views from an in-ring perspective that AEW has produced."
Ganz starker PPV."
[9.0] "Great show. The only low points were the TNT title match and the Tag match but they were ultimately perfectly placed for the crowd to reheat for the main event. That main event though, wow. I don't think we will see anything better this year in terms of work rate and presentation. That Trios match was also incredible one of the best matches you'll see all year as well unfortunately it had no story leading to it, hopefully they run it back with a story now. The Women's match over delivered as well with Ruby play in her part really really well. Finally, I think that's the first time I've ever enjoyed a casket match."
