[4.0] "This show has not aged well. Pros: the famous HBK/Taker was the best thing of this show by leaps and bounds. The MITB match was a good opener. Steamboat was fantastic, hasn't missed a step. Cons: they clearly don't understand how anniversaries work. Kid Rock can go away forever. That Diva Battle Royal was one of the worst matches I've seen, pointless & disrespectful. Throwing Snuka out there was baffling. The Hardy Boyz & World Title match under-delivered. That main event sucked the life out me and the crowd. In summary, without the HBK/Taker match, this would go down as one of, if not the worst WrestleMania ever. Watch that & Steamboat's performance."

[7.0] "(07/10) An issue with where the product was heading, at this time, was the incessant ambition for WWE to be presented as a strictly entertainment company, when all wrestling fans ever want to do is get together to watch some good professional wrestling. I'm sure no one cared to voice this opinion to the one who matters, because it was always the way or the highway. Thankfully, we don't have to live this way any more. Legend would have you believe that WrestleMania was a terrible show of shows. But it really was not (save for the battle-royal, JBL/Mysterio, Mickey Rourke). But this had always been the case of whenever you know who was in power. As Wrestling fans, we just had to sit back, and pray that the talent would have the smarts and willpower to deliver wonders and magic inside the ring, and not succumb to the occasional incompetence of Satan himself. Like I said, thankfully, we don't have to live this way any more."

It's highly questionable statement. Quasi-entertainment oriented battle royal, disappointing main event and weird send off match for JBL aren't the appropiate parts to be promote afterwards. Stepdown from greatness as we witnessed since 2001 untill 2008, however it's still a show which you can on if you're bored."

[10.0] "My first ever Wrestlemania. It holds a truly special place in my heart and gives me a sense of childlike wonder when I turn it on. This review is completely biased and I don't care. In 2009 I was 9 years old and had only been into wrestling for about a year, so I was in that prime honeymoon wonder phase of fandom. My favorite things in the wrestling world were CM Punk, Matt and Jeff Hardy, and John Cena. My most hated things were Edge and Randy Orton. Well, to kick things off, my guy CM Punk won the Money in the Bank in a BANGER of a match. Soon after we had Matt vs. Jeff Hardy in an absolute classic of a brother feud, and though I was a bigger Jeff fan, I was happy to see Matt win and still think it's the correct choice. I watched John Cena be super man and take down that cheating-ass Edge. The main event is beyond disappointing no doubt, but that's not really their fault. The breath was taken out of the room by Shawn and Taker in the greatest match in wrestling history. This Mania has everything I could ever ask for. Is it the best? Nah, but it's my favorite."

[4.0] "Shawn Michaels Vs Undertaker is a masterpiece and one of the all time best WrestleMania matches ever, the MITB ladder match is fantastic, Matt Vs Jeff and the World Heavyweight Title triple threat were both solid enough, but the build up of those two and the rest of the undercard is painfully mid, the Miss WrestleMania Battle Royal is just offensive to the women's division and Randy Orton and Triple H had one of the worst and most underwhelming WrestleMania main events ever. Overall WrestleMania 25 "The 24TH (not 25TH) Anniversary of WrestleMania" is a pretty weak WrestleMania and the first truly weak one they had for a long time at that period."

[4.0] "They really shit the bed with the structure of this show as everything after Taker vs Michaels felt like an unnecessary epilogue. Both world title matches had a potential for a decent reaction from the crowd, but the fans were tired at this point and there was no way they would work unless moved before the best match of the night. That being said there were basically two good matches here - first of course Michaels vs Taker and second the Triple Threat Match. Everything else was meh or just bad. The Money in the Bank Match wasn't as well done as the previous editions, women's Battle Royal was an insult, Jericho should have just had a one on one match with Steamboat, while The Hardys' had an awful, dumb, indy spotfest that didn't show any grudge between them at all. But then thankfully JBL stole my heart by retiring as a heel, which is something that not many people since probably Ted DiBiase Sr. had balls to do, so huge respect to him. And then the infamous main event happened - Orton vs Triple H was so slow that the fans gave them no reaction and they wasted one of the best builds they had in years. So a really underwhelming WrestleMania in terms of matches, I had much bigger expectations for that PPV."

The Hardy's Extreme Rules match, Money In The Bank ladder match, and Chris Jericho vs. legends showcase are solid but everything else is forgettable including the two World Title matches. Good use of Mickey Rourke during the time of his movie The Wrestler. The Hall Of Fame class this year was stacked with Steve Austin, The Von Erich's, Koko B. Ware, Howard Finkel, Ricky Steamboat, Terry and Dory Funk Jr. and Bill Watts. R-Truth is on the poster of this show and is merely a lumberjack on the pre show."

Honestly if they just swapped HBK/Taker and HHH/Orton around and scrapped Kid Rock's song, instead actually giving the big name ladies and returning "divas" an actual entrance I think this show would be thought of a lot better."
KingsCrossing wrote on 05.04.2024:
[7.0] "I recall being relatively negative about this WrestleMania at the time, but rewatching it now I think that's largely down to a disappointing main event, and a lot of the matches having very poor build on the weekly TV leading up to this event, because the show itself is pretty good. While the Miss WrestleMania Battle Royal is a farce, it's so short that it doesn't really bother me too greatly (unfortunately you can't say the same for the lengthy Kid Rock performance that leads in to the match...), and everything else is actually fairly strong even if the storylines weren't very good. The ladder match is a great opener, and Hardy-Hardy has a lot of good action. Ricky Steamboat's performance is astonishing, and incredibly memorable, and the Triple Threat title match is enjoyable for what it is, too. Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker is one of the best WrestleMania matches of all time (if not the best), and you can refer to my review of that match if you're interested in reading more of my thoughts on that. The main event is definitely underwhelming, but when so much else on this show overachieves compared with how it looked on paper, I think I have to consider this to be an underrated installment of WrestleMania that deserves a little more love than it gets."

[8.0] "A decent & overhated WrestleMania that started out with the exciting money in the bank ladder match. I honestly wasn't too bothered that CM Punk won the briefcase two years in a row, the only other people I would have advocated to win this match was Shelton Benjamin or Christian. The 3 on 1 handicap match is more of a fun match to watch & made Steamboat look impressive on what he was able to do at his age. The Hardys Extreme Rules match is a good & definitely underrated match with a great storyline involved. Rey Mysterio winning the Intercontinental championship against JBL in a matter of seconds was hilarious & this started the incredible matches that he would have later in the year. Of course, Michaels VS The Undertaker, do I really need to say anything here? Potentially the greatest match in sports entertainment. Despite it being decent in terms of technical wrestling, the storytelling is off the charts which will always be more important than any brainless wrestling with no story. Cena VS Edge VS The Big Show, was a decent match which is definitely a memorable one even if it isn't an all time great type of match. Orton VS Triple H is pretty disappointing knowing that the storyline involved was absolutely incredible especially knowing that it doesn't necessarily feel like a PG storyline."

[8.0] "I think this is a very underrated Mania and I used to think it sucked ass, but recently I rewatched it and was pleasantly surprised at how consistently good the matches were. The MITB match to start us off was pretty good and I think the real MVP was Shelton Benjamin, although I thought the best part was when Hornswoggle went for the tadpole splash off the back of Mark Henry on the top rope. [7.0] And then the show instantly drops off in quality for just about anyone watching because up next we have the 25 Diva Miss Wresltemania Battle Royal! But you might be thinking, Hey loge, didnt you just applaud the show for its consistency? Well if this abomination is here then how could you ever call it consistent? Well Marky, thats because I think this match is FUCKING AWESOME! Is it stupid? Yes. But I love it. I honestly couldnt tell you who most of the people in this match are because most of them arent properly announced or mentioned by commentary and theyre constantly being eliminated. Probably because they didnt want to give this match a lot of time anyways, but thats honestly a really good thing because even though its stupid to have a 6 minute rumble with 25 people, its good that its fast paced because trust me if theres one thing this match doesnt need its to be drawn out. Anyways the winner of the match is SANTINA MARELLA! Its her first match in the company and she took home an amazing W. People call it stupid but I think its awesome. Does this make Santina Marella the first Trans woman to be a superstar in the company? Does that also make Santino Marella the first Trans man to be a superstar when he transitioned back into a man later on? Idk. Maybe the people that hate this match are just transphobic. [10.0 MOTN contender] Ok next up we have Chris Jericho vs Jimmy Snuka, Ricky Steamboat, and Roddy Piper. In the build up to this match Jericho was taking a fat page out of Randy Orton's book by becoming a legend killer and wanting to destroy the legends or some shit like that idk its kinda sad to see these old dudes get beat up and so we got this match where Jericho squashes Snuka and Piper within like 2 minutes which is kinda sad but holy shit, Ricky Steamboat is a fucking beast in this match. He has so much energy for being so old and having not fought a match in like 15 years, and he went toe to toe with Jericho for a while before he lost. I kinda disagree with the ending and think that maybe Ricky should've beat Jericho in the end, just because he was so into it. I dont think it wouldve hurt Jericho's momentum very much if he lost. [8.0] Ok next up is the Hardy brawl which is kinda insane buildup wise but I honestly dont have much to say about this match other than I am surprised Matt won but kinda agree with it story wise [6.0] JBL Vs Rey Mystery Box was cool. Again, not much to say since its 20 seconds long and Rey absolutely destroys JBL so Im not gonna give it a rating but it was a cool mania moment and JBL says he quit afterwards which hold on lemme see something (Checks JBL's Cagematch page) Wow what a fucking liar he came back in 2014 for a royal rumble appearance, which I guess is excusable actually. Still did a better job at staying retired than Ric Flair, Mick Foley, or HBK! Speaking of which, HBK vs undertaker! Literally nothing I can say about this match that you havent heard a billion times. [10/10] Next up is the World title triple threat which was decent but forgettable. I dont get how John Cena is a face here. They genuinely couldve made him a heel for once in the build where hes blackmailing Big Show which couldve been super interesting but maybe not maybe im a complete moron for even suggesting that. [6.0] AND NOW, ITS TIME FOR THE MAIN EVENT! Which was not very good. The build up was mega stupid with orton having IED and then it being revealed that he didnt actually have IED and the match was wayayyyyyayayyayyyyyyyy tooo drawn out like this match shouldve been like idk 15 minutes max and it just drags on. [4.0] Kinda sucks that the night ended on a low note but hey. And yes I know it isnt actually the 25th Anniversary of Wrestlemania, but who fucking cares honestly. It works well for a title and it wouldve been even more retarded if the next wrestlemania was called the 25 anniversary of wrestlemania instead of wresltemania 26, especially when the previous one was called mania 25 in this timeline. Yes, they couldve just called it Wresltemania 25 and all the stars and celebratory iconography and hype wouldve fit just fine either way but whatever man. I really like the silver and bright white starry presentation this show has btw. Good job guys."

[5.0] "First Mania after a few years that doesn't manage to get into the satisfactory ratings for me. On the more positive side of things Money in the Bank was a good opener even if it is a step down from previous years (7/10) Jericho VS the legends is solid fun once Steamboat gets in the ring (6/10), the Hardy's have a solid Hardcore match with some good moments although not as good as it could be (6/10) and Taker/HBK is an absolute classic (10/10). Besides that you have the IC squash that I'll give some props for the shock but it wasn't an amazing moment either (5/10) a pretty underwhelming triple threat for the world title (5/10) an absolutely awful battle royale that showed how little they cared about women's wrestling (0/10) a musical performance that dragged on for way too long and got the tag title unification match off the card for some reason and topped off by a boring main event between Orton and Triple H (4/10). The show not being that long and having one great match saves it from being lower, but that doesn't mean its good either"

[5.0] "Not a great show, or even that good of one really, but an overhated one that you'll sometimes see ranked as one of the worst WMs when I wouldn't call it bottom 10 material myself. MITB and Undertaker/HBK are the definite recommends. Jericho vs the legends is quite a good little match, though the Rourke stuff does drag on. The triple threat for the World Heavyweight smacks of missed potential in not doing an Edge/Cena match at 'Mania but it's fun for what it is. It's frustrating to see Jeff Hardy dropped into a crazy brother vs brother feud as if he wasn't champ at the end of '08 but at least they have a pretty solid hardcore match. Rey squashes JBL which is funny and then the latter takes ages to say he quits and people don't seem that bothered. So even the high points are mixed bags, and then there's the two black eyes on the show of the embarrassing women's battle royal (preceded by the GOAT Kid Rock) and the terrible main event. Seriously, what an aggravating match, a hot wild feud ends in a slow dull affair and the win for loveable hero Triple H because that cursed idea is too good to only do once apparently. Despite all that, it mostly flies by pretty easily, a middle-of-the-road and perfectly watchable WrestleMania but with only the one match you'd revisit."

The MITB ladder match was great, HBK/Taker was a classic and most of the other stuff on the show was either fine, decent or good. The womens battle royal and the main event though...Jesus Christ. Kid Rock's never ending performance and a totally lifeless feel after the MOTY left me feeling real sour on this even if it's far from the worst show ever. Also, this is the 24th anniversary, NOT the 25th which bugged me the whole time."

The rest of the card ranges from decent to good, and it also felt like a Wrestlemania. I'm giving it a 6/10, but it could have been an 8 if the card placement was perfect and the stipulation choices were better"

[8.0] "This was a great Wrestlemania but slightly less good than previous manias. There were some good matches and one legendary match. There were some good moments as well. There was one new face to mania this year being Kofi Kingston. A few returns to mania being Christian coming back to Wrestlemania for the first time in four years and Jimmy Snuka, Ricky Steamboat, and Roddy Piper. Some of the big moments were CM Punk winning the Money in the Bank ladder match for the second year in a row, Chris Jericho calling out Mickey Rourke, Rey Mysterio beating JBL in 21 seconds, and JBL quitting. The opening match MITB was great but not as good as last year. It had lots of great action. Nobody should act like they cared about the women's battle royal but I guess it was kinda stupid that Santino won it. It was the worst match on the show. The three on one handicap match was pretty good by the end of it. Piper and Snuka were far from great and were pretty bad but Steamboat's time in the match was always fun. The crowd was very into the match and there were a lot of great nearfalls. I actually felt like Steamboat could actually win and that was great. The brother vs brother extreme rules match was pretty good. There were two big spots in the match but the rest was fairly good work. There's not much more to say about the Intercontinental title match but I liked the ironic story of the match where JBL said he would have the most dominant victory ever and ended up losing in 21 seconds. Another note is Jerry Lawler told the same dentist joke for JBL as he did for Mr McMahon at WM 23. Mysterio's Joker attire was cool too. What can be said about Taker vs Michaels? It was absolutely the best match of the show and is one of the greatest matches in Wrestlemania and WWE history. Triple Threat match for the world title was pretty good. The main event was fairly decent but not great. I also liked Triple H's entrance. overall great."

Mostly everything else was fine; good MITB match, Miss Wrestlemania was a shit sandwich - Santino had some okay moments in his career but this is him at his dirt-worst taking the spotlight in what was a pretty cool looking battle royale with lots of returning women who deserved a lot better, Jericho v legends was very entertaining though Steamboat was of course the highlight and they would have a better 1-on-1 match at Backlash - not part of the PPV but Roddy Piper's promo in the build to this was a thing of absolute beauty, that was the old Piper, Matt v Jeff was good though again they had a better match at Backlash and Jeff maybe deserved something better than losing to his brother at this time, Rey/JBL was a plenty fun angle with JBL being good value showing weakness before his memorable retirement, Taker/HBK was one of the best matches in WWE history as we all know, Cena/Edge/Show had a difficult job following that but it was a fun match. Decent Mania all in all, probably deserves better ratings but I can see why the drab main event left a more negative impression of the show on people."
