Das Match von Escobar ist die personifizierte 'Nummer Sicher', denn Breeze kann liefern und ist doch nur die kleinste aller Gefahren. The Way dominiert dann zwei überforderte Jungtalente. Zoey Stark leidet derweil etwas am Aldo-Montoya-Syndrom, denn sie liefert als Newcomerin Woche für Woche anständige Matches, verkackt aber alle Resultate, wobei das gegen die hart gepushte Gonzales diesmal nicht verwundert. Xia Li inhaliert dann die kompletten NXT-Karrieren von Catanzaro & Carter. Ob das so wirklich sein muss, sollte man sich mal fragen. LA Knight bekommt dann endlich seinen kleinen Scheinwerfer, bevor die NXT-Championesse mangels Mic-Skills physisch etwas akzentuieren darf. Die Show ist knapp okay, die ERA kein Thema mehr und niemandem wird geschadet, der bei Stand & Deliver noch eine Rolle spielen könnte. |

I will not go as far or be un realistic to call it one of the worst go home shows as the build up was really good with vignettes and some promos. I loved the Shirai/Raquel stuff with Raquel taking Io down every time and Io not giving up till she stands tall over Raquel which eventually occurred as the show was about to end . Did not enjoy any of the Xia or Tian Shan stuff but Xia for once looked good in the ring and with the right opponent to carry her could give a good NXT women? s title match . Gargano and Balor cut good promos but the best one was Ciampa? s . It had the emotion that captured my attention. The vignettes with Walter/Ciampa and especially Cole/O Reilly to hype up for Takeover did a great job . One of the best things on the show . Due to lack of any substantial in ring quality other than Grimes/Strong , I cannot give it more than a 6 . I was glad to see the announcement of the women? s tag title bout and Kushida/Dunne for takeover and the card looks good . I hope it exceeds my expectations because they are very high . |

Das hatte jetzt nicht den großen Tiefgang aber das war kompetente, wrestlerische Action ohne Langeweile. Das gilt auch für das zweite Match, wobei während das erste Match eher über die Physis kam, kam dieses Match eher über die Dynamik. Das Tag Match danach war nicht übermäßig lang, genauso wie das Two on One Handicap Match im Anschluss wobei ich zu Letzterem sagen muss, dass die Story um Xia Li für mich langsam etwas interessanter wird. Zum ME muss ich sagen, dass diese Art von TV Battle Royals in meinen Augen nie super und tiefgründig sein kann, aber diese war echt anständig, überraschend aber inklusive eines Aufbaus für Takeover logisch gebooked und kein schlechter Abschluss. Aufbau für Takeover ist ein gutes Stichwort für diese Show, denn den gab es auch an anderen Stellen wie zum Beispiel bezüglich O'Reilly vs Cole. Es gab hier insgesamt nichts was herausstach aber auch nichts was abfiel. Es war in meinen Augen eine anständige Show, welche 6 Punkte verdient. |

Hier und da ist es wohl etwas viel klein-klein, aber das macht die Show durchaus kurzweilig und flüssig. Im Opener gibt es gute, oberflächliche, aber direkte Action. Das Finish sitzt nicht so, aber ansonsten präsentieren die Beiden ihre Skills durchaus genießbar. Dass Roderick Strong anschließend in den Sack haut, statt am Main Event teilzunehmen, gefällt mir. Kross und Balor kommunizieren hier via Promo-Video und das klingt bei Beiden durchaus gut, bei Kross sieht es auch noch gut aus. Hype ist da. Bei Ciampa vs. WALTER liegt es am Herausforderer, die Story eine Woche vor dem Match zu tragen. Das gelingt gut. Den Filler mit Tyler Breeze hätte ich nicht gebraucht, aber als Herleitung für die Konfrontation der Herren Tag Teams war es dann doch halbwegs smooth. Das Match an sich war okay als Filler. Ganz putzige Hype-Video mit Tayas Hund. Die Damen von The Way haben erreicht, was sie wollten. Das Match mit Gigi und Zayda ist nicht der Rede wert leide rund inhaltlich der schwächste Part der Show. Bei Io vs. Raquel macht man meines Erachtens sehr viel richtig. Die Segmente funktionieren und beide Damen wirken da durchaus Bad Ass. Kushida vs. Dunne wir dann bereits vor der Battle Royal aufgebaut und das hätte man sich im Sinne der Spannung im Main Event einfach sparen können. Deren Eliminierung im Match war ja so passend, dass man es als Aufbau allein hätte nutzen können. Das Prime Target-Video für Kyle und Adam war episch. Period. Borash kann es einfach und mit dem WWE-Budget und -Möglichkeiten brilliert er mal wieder. Guter Wrestling-Mind. Bei Tian Sha war ich eh schon überrascht, wie random man Mei Yings In-Ring-Debüt dropt. Gut, dass es ausgefallen ist. Das Angle mit Kayden war ganz cool. Das Main Event erfüllt seinen Zweck ebenfalls gut und bringt ein paar Storys passend vorran oder zeigt entsprechend gute Charakteristika. |

Eigentlich sollte er in der Battle Royal im Main-Event dabei sein stattdessen haut er ab von der Arena. Escobar vs Breeze war in Ordnung. Letzte Woche hatte Devlin noch eine Open Challenge rausgehauen und diesmal Escobar. Beide waren ansehnlich. Die Women waren schlecht. The Way ebnen sich ihren Weg für das Titelmatch nächste Woche. Natürlich müssen sich die NXT Womens Tag-Team Champs zu Wort melden. Die Women #2 waren schlecht. Zoey messt sich mit den großen muss sich aber hinlegen was klar war. Zweimal wird Io Shirai von seiner NXT Takeover Gegnerin überrumpelt. Schönes Video zu O'Reilly und Cole was nur ihre Fehde zusammenfasst. Die Women #3 waren schlecht. Lächerlich das eine Xia Li zwei Damen alleine plattmachen kann. Mei Ying ist mittlerweile der Name der Gestalt die auf ihrem Thron auf der Bühne sitzt. Sie haucht Rauch ins Gesicht von Kayden und fällt in Ohnmacht. Der Main-Event war in Ordnung. Nur 3 der 11 Herrschaften werden kein Match bei NXT Takeover haben. Dunne und Kushida scheiden vor der sechser Marke aus bestreiten aber nächste Woche ein Singles Match unter sich. Lumis stand fast durchgehend an derselben Stelle und LA Knight sichert sich den besten Platz im Gauntlet Eliminator Match. |

Backstage and talking segments were horrible. The Garganos storyline was quite exciting for the last couple of weeks, but tonights episode was not funny at all. Io was continously attacking Raquel Gonzalez backstage and it went throughout the whole show. Every single time this short brawl ended with Io laying on the ground completely rekt. The interiew with KUSHIDA was really stupid, because Pete Dunne interrupted and they both talked to each other in two different languages. They both cannot even understand each other. Why don't give them interpreter or just forget these stupid segments. The only thing I liked was the video preview of Adam Cole vs Kyle O'Reilly. Oh yeah. One more thing. Did I mention the show ended with Io attacking Raquel for the 4th time? Yes... that's exactly what happened. |

They gave us very little in terms of exciting wrestling, with the Grimes and Strong opener being the only good match and the main event battle royal being a dull and pointless affair. The angles were entertaining though, especially the excellent hype video for Cole vs O'Reilly. That being said, it felt like feuds were either being stretched out to fill time with exclusively video packages, or being rushed like Dunne vs Kushida and the NXT woman's tag titles. A let down after the string of good shows NXT has put on recently. |

| 36 | 01.04.2021 | JTI | 6.0 | For being the go-home show before NXT's first two-night Takeover this show felt like most of it was either just stretching out existing storylines for next week with no real progression, or rushing them forward at a breakneck speed for everything to make sense for next week. Strong vs. Grimes was decent; Roderick Strong's current story arch is honestly the most interesting thing on Wednesday nights for me, and I hope it pays off but for whatever reason I feel like it'll peter out before something big happens with the character. I'm worried he's gonna be the George Harrison of a post-UE world. Having the three arguably biggest matches of both nights being pushed solely with video packages was a weird choice, but they were all done very well so I can't complain too much. Escobar vs. Breeze was... a match that happened. Escobar looks strong and the ramshackle tag match NXT was forced into got a teeny bit of build. Speaking of which, I'm so pissed off on behalf of Oney Lorcan. Dude's partner gets hurt so he's stripped of the tag titles, despite being in a stable with another guy, and then he can't even get thrown a bone and put into the main event battle royal, especially when one of the participants has walked out? What the fuck y'all? The three women's matches were all essentially competitive squashes, and again the NXT women's tag title storyline feels rushed. This probably wasn't the right time to introduce the belts, if there ever even really was one. The storyline of Gonzalez constantly getting the better of Shirai's ambushes was pretty great, and Io getting her heat back at the end of the night did a good job of subverting the expectation that Gonzalez will lose because she has an extreme Momentum (tm) advantage heading into a title match. Mei Ying officially has superpowers now (beyond immortality, I guess? ), but this storyline really needs to go somewhere. It's starting to become a bit of a drag, despite the revelation of Sleepy Breath. The battle royal was pretty meh as far as battle royals go, and Pete Dunne and Kushida both deserve their match to have more than approximately 90 seconds of build during the go home show. The match should slap though and is honestly a dark horse contender for MOTN. They did a good job of hyping Takeover but the actual meat of the show just didn't really do a whole lot for me. |

The video packages playing throughout the show were very cool, especially the Prime Target which had better cinematography/production value than I expected from a wrestling company, whoever edited that did a really good job. All in all I am very exited for takeover next week! |

I did howl with laughter at how Mei Ying spewed a mysterious air borne substance that knocked Kayden Carter out cold, only would have been funnier if it was Kacy Catanzaro given her stance with masks and social gatherings. |
