[6.0] "This is so far a weaker one of the aew shows to me some matches where ive gone why was that on the card and matches were i left going eh it was fine working, but aew still does put out a good enough product here for a 6, mainly with that sting and darby match man that was great"

[7.0] "This PPV will always be remembered for the terrible and botched ending but there was a few good matches here and there and there were some really underwhelming and mid ones. I love the atmosphere of night time Daily's Place, it was a decent show."

[3.0] "Hated this one gang, not a single match here impressed me in any way besides the street fight and I'm not sure how much of that was the cheap sting nostalgia pop. Everything here was one of three things: a great feud spoiled by a terrible match (the opener), a solid match spoiled by lazy sports entertainment style booking (the main event, a great match ruined by interference and then immortalised by that godawful ending), or nothing to offer whatsoever. Couldn't even get into the ladder match or joshi match."

[7.0] "AEW Revolution (2021) is a very strange show to talk about. There are some highlights like Shida Vs Mizunami, Sting's in ring debut and the street fight and the barbed wire "exploding" death match, but as decent some most of the other matches and storylines surrounding them weren't really PPV material and the ending killed most of the show and it's tone. Overall AEW Revolution is a pretty solid show but the weird timing and ending of it all drags it down."

[6.0] "Everybody rememberes this show for the awful botched explosion that took place after the main event and that is definetely the worst ending to Pay-Per-View ever but the show itself was actually pretty good and featured some very good matches despite not even being near the level of other Pay-Per-Views: Jericho & Mjf vs. Young Bucks was a very good opener. The battle royale was one of the best battle royales Aew has ever done with a beautiful final strech between Jungle Boy and Fenix. Shida vs. Mizunami was the match of the night and one of the best Aew women's matches of all time. Cassidy & Taylor vs. Miro & Sabian was an angle rather than an actual match and it wasn't very good. Hardy vs. Page was alright but pretty forgettable. The face of the revolution wasn't as bad as people say but it wasn't a great ladder match either, many things didn't work very well and the match was forgettable with also the worst outcome possible. Sting & Allin vs. Team Taz was a good cinematic match. Moxley vs. Omega was a very good main event with many great moments and spots that will unfortunately be remembered just for the shitty post-match. Overall: not the best Aew show but far from being a bad show despite the awful ending."

[7.0] "This show was infamous for the "botched" explosion from the Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch main event between Mox and Omega. Despite the bad ending, this event is a decent showing from AEW with Shida and Mizunami as the Match of the Night but if AEW have Revolution to be comparable to WrestleMania, they should've did better tbh"

[6.0] "I was kinda happy to finish with a great fight between Kenny & Mox even though the explosion failed cuz the PPV overall underwhelmed me. It was too long with many matches not reaching the PPV level. Great debuts for Ethan Page and for Christian it was the moment of the night!"

[5.0] "I can't lie man, that ending to Mox and Kenny was really funny. I can't even rate that match to be honest, because while the match itself was good, that ending man. Woof. Besides that, Shida and Mizunami was the in ring MOTN as they put in a clinic. Beyond the ring, Team Taz and the Hoodlums had a really fun "street fight" that I won't describe here now because it's unreal and you should watch it right now. The final four of the battle royal was a fun little time too. I really think you could build a legit company around Pac, Fenix, John Silver and Jungle Boy. Talk about 4 guys who could tear it up conceivably for the next ten years at least if they wanted to. Now, the bad. To this day, AEW still is INCAPABLE of having a halfway decent battle royal. This one is probably the best they've done up to this point but it was still stankin up until the final four. Speaking of stankin, the opener sucked man. I don't wanna be a hater but I don't need to see MJF and Jericho in the same ring again for the rest of my life. The Bucks as faces worked fine at Full Gear because they were against super heels FTR, but a weak team like MJF and Jericho couldn't bring the fire out. I guess the consensus on twitter is that gamer Miro was needed before we get cool Catholic Miro, but that doesn't make this Miro any less lame. They did do a pretty sweet beatdown on the Best Friends (sans Trent) and if that was it, I would have been happy with that. They had a match afterwards though and I didn't care. Oh yeah and a ladder match happened or something who cares. This show was very eh, Check out the Womens Match and Hoodlum match and throw the rest of the show in a big ol trash can where the rest of the mediocre 2nd American Promotion shows behind WWE go"

[4.0] "Really did not like this show honestly. Felt creatively flat, none of the matches are memorable at all, with all very low stakes creating a fillery feeling to the show. The card honestly looks more like a collection of go-home matches building to something bigger, instead of the big quarterly PPV that Revolution should be."

[9.0] "This was a great show with three all time great matches - the main, the women's title, and the tag belts match. It's a damn shame it was all overshadowed by the botched explosion at the end."

[6.0] "A disappointing show given the ending and the hype around the signing but the women's title match and the main event (before the interference) were some of the best stuff AEW has put on."

[6.0] "Over a month out from this PPV and looking at the card, only the women's title match and the main event stand out as the things I'll be coming back to again. This show wasn't bad, but it was very long and a lot of the matches felt like filler. The ending of the show was bad though. There's no way around that. Moxley, Omega and Kingston deserved better than that. Really unfortunate."

[6.0] "If you were only to look at this in terms of match quality, Revolution was a great show. It had the best cinematic match I've seen. However, the show was built around two promises that weren't delivered on which marred my experience and will make me second guess buying future AEW PPVs."

[8.0] "A very good PPV with some outstanding matches while some failed to deliver . They were still good but fell short of expectations . These two matches were notably the ladder match, AEW tag titles match and the casino battle royale. There was a good buy in match which advanced the Baker/Rosa feud . A average tag match between OC and Chuck vs Kip and Miro. A great women? s title match . A decent Hardy/Page encounter . The last two matches delivered in great fashion . The MOTN was the exploding barbed wire death match despite the botched ending . It had emotion to it with what could have been a perfect ending with Eddie coming out to rescue his longtime friend and recent rival until the explosion turned out to be botched and weak. I was delighted to see Christian Cage sign with AEW as the mystery personality hyped up by Paul Wight . This PPV is getting too much criticism because of one fault. Other than that , we got to see the highly charismatic Maki Ito and the future of AEW in Scorpio Sky getting his push and a AEW TNT title shot next week."

[6.0] "I'm a month late on this, after hearing about what a disaster this show was and all that stuff... The ending indeed was a disaster, the rest of the show was mostly fine though. There was really only one standout match on this card (women's title match) and everything else was just kind of ho hum. I do think AEW would be better served having their PPVs be more like NXTs with just a few key matches. There really was no need for a lot of these matches."

[6.0] "Not factoring the elephant in the room, a fairly average event. The main event - again, not factoring the ending - was good for what it was, though it's not the kind of match I enjoy seeing Omega in. The six-way ladder match and the tag battle royal were good fun; Bucks vs. Jericho/MJF was a fine opener; Shida vs. Mizunami was perhaps among the better women's PPV matches AEW has held thus far; Page vs. Hardy was a somewhat refreshingly no-frills, classic-style wrestling match (it was actually one of my favorite parts of the evening), and Sabian/Miro vs. Taylor/Cassidy was pure filler. I wasn't too keen on Allin/Sting vs. Cage/Starks; it was fine for what it was and Sting's presence is certainly a rub for the other three, but I'm beyond over cinematic matches at this point and this one didn't really show anything that justified it being one over a regular in-arena match (other than allowing for editing and less physicality for Sting). The botched pyro was certainly an embarrassing moment for AEW, though I will give credit to Moxley and especially Kingston for the damage control they would do in their taped promo the following week."

[6.0] "Okay. It was a miracle that I sat through the main event and ended up loving it but that botched was just terrible. What's worse was that Kingston and the commentators as well as the personnels acted as if the ring actually exploded and that Eddie Kingston needed treatment.. The Casino tag team battle royale was good and the Ladder match was even better. Unfortunately I thought the whole show other tha these two and the main event were not ppv worthy."

[6.0] "It took me awhile to finish watching this, after hearing so much about the event (mostly negative). It wasn't bad by any stretch, but it was very long with few truly standout moments throughout a very long runtime. The women's title match was the high point and exceptional. The main event was good except for... you know. The cinematic match was very entertaining. Everything else was serviceable to good."

[7.0] "It was a good PPV for the most part. Some matches were good and some were just mediocre - such as Sabian & Miro vs Taylor & Cassidy and the women's title match could've been better, especially with the ridiculous kickouts. I really liked the surprise star (Christian) as I have always been a fan of him, but I can see why some people would be disappointed by it. The last match was great, for the most part. The exploding barbed wire deathmatch is an amazing concept that hadn't ever before been seen in the western world but I still feel as if some extra smoke and pyro would give the feeling of an explosion, as they obviously can't blow up a ring with people inside it. Eddie Kingston selling the "explosions" would be good if the spot worked out. I feel really bad for everybody involved in that match as it could have been something people remember for the future generations - and it will, but for the wrong reasons."

[5.0] "I really am sorry for AEW. The PPV itselft was kinda ok, most of the things were just boring, some aother were off, but the concept of the totality of the set-up was just... Vintage? In a bad way thou.. Sometime watching AEW i feel like watching someone who mocks 80s wrestling. This is a pity, because some extraordinary talents work for the company but i feel that their fighting is not valorized. The problem with (some of) them in WWE was that they were not given time, now they are but the story and the style are not ok (by me). PLUS, let's address the ginormus elephant in the room. Elephants! A big surprise contract was to be release and then it was Christian. I'm sorry but I was expecting come more superstar power other than a 10-year-retired old star that was not that great even back in the days, so I couldn't care less about him. Up untile the end of the show I was just thinking that maybe Christian was a set up to make us forget, then the REAL big star would make his debut but... no. AND off course the last match. The whole world is talking about the really bad and embarrassing ending, but i was not pleased even with the match itslef. The concept was trash from start to finish, were we supposed to believe that there really were exploding cables and landmines on the floor? Do you know what landmines do to a human body? Maybe the target for AEW is lowering that much. Maybe as a kind I would have believe this. Maybe. Then, I'm truly sorry for the ending. Wasted chance to shine. On Dynamite the will embarrass themself even more trying to cover that up. I don't know how that many people liked this PPV, I'm thinking about dropping AEW, like I did for iMPACT"

[7.0] "My first AEW PPV I ordered and my first review for this site. There was a lot to like here, but at the asking price and length of the show it leaves a bit of a cold takeaway. The highlights: The women's title match was outstanding, and the best thing on the show. The main event was getting to be a great match but ended on a down note. The opening tag was very solid. Lowlights: Again, the length of the show. The battle royale lasted what felt like forever, but the ending of it was great."

[7.0] "A very solid, good show. Most matches were pretty forgettable, but the tag title match, the street fight and the exploding barbed wire match were all pretty great. So yeah, good show."

[5.0] "It's a common problem for AEW PPVs to lose momentum and just feel so long as the card progresses. They want every PPV match to be big and do everything. Everything has to have a big match feel even if it's not worthy of that, even if the card doesn't need it right there and then. Nothing is given importance and nothing stands out. They have no idea how to build and maintain momentum throughout a card, which is a huge issue when you're looking at about 5 hours of viewing including the pre-show. That this started with the best match and ended with one of the worst PPV endings ever says it all. The block from Hardy vs Hangman up to the main event was incredibly dull, especially as someone who hates "cinematic" matches. The novelty of the main event gained a little momentum for me until I saw how weak the explosions were. It was still an okay match but it was TNA levels of gimmick. The ending will go down in history for all the wrong reasons."

[6.0] "This seemed to follow the formula AEW shows have been following for the last six months - start the show strong, lose a lot of momentum in the midcard, absolutely throw the show off the deep-end trying to bring it back. First two matches are fun, but the show is pretty skippable. [The Young Bucks vs Inner Circle] - 4 stars (Match of the Night). [Tag Team Battle Royale] - 3 œ stars. [Shida vs Ryo] - 3 stars. [Chuck Taylor/Orange Cassidy vs Miro/Kip] - 2 stars (Worst of the Night). [Matt Hardy vs Hangman] - 2 Œ stars. [Ladder Match] - 3 stars. [Darby/Sting vs Team Taz] - 2 Œ stars. [Moxley vs Omega] - 2 Œ stars. Average match rating: 2. 78 of 5 stars (or 5. 56 of 10). Rounded to 6 for Cagematch."

[9.0] "A very good PPV top to bottom from AEW, with a very unfortunate botched explosion spot at the end. Yes, we'll all remember that finish as very underwhelming and it sucks because the rest of this show to me was fantastic. From the pre-show surprise of Maki Itoh, some very fun if not spectacular matches in the tag match and battle royal, to the surprises of Christian Cage and Ethan Page, a very very good women's match, an actually fun cinematic match, and a great main event MATCH (the post-match was the botch after all). Revolution was mostly good and dipped it's toes into greatness at times. Was it the best AEW PPV ever? No, but it certainly wasn't an all around dud. The only thing really missing (besides the explosion at the end) was a high level workrate match. Shida vs Ryo was the closest but nothing else really hit 4. 5 or 5 star territory. Personally I really liked the show and I feel bad that some will use the failed explosion to crap on the entire show when, pound for pound, it was very good. Hopefully AEW learns from this and dials back some of the hype and gimmickry going forward. But that being said there's plenty to look forward to in the fallout to this show, even if the bomb fallout was less than nuclear."

[6.0] "Not the worst show, not their best. Given the amount of hype leading up to it, was kind of a let down. They really need to figure out PPV flow, the match order on this made no sense given the middle two matches had no real stakes. So naturally put them back to back? It feels like theyre designing shows off the common build up, down, and go out on a big high idea. Follow what most Japanese companies do, get your least look forward to on first to warm up and then hit after hit after hit. Exhaust people emotionally, dont bore them."

[6.0] "Not a bad show by any means, but the expectations were very high. There was some great stuff on this show but it was sandwiched in-between unnecessarily long matches like the Tag battle royale. The ending, was bad, obviously. What made it even worse was that it could have been a great moment and story if it had the spectacle."

[2.0] "I liked the opening tag team title match and that's where the card peaked for me. That was followed by another one of these battle royals that Tony Khan loves. I don't get the purpose of them when you keep track of people's win/loss records. I didn't like the women's title match and I'm not a fan of Ryo. I didn't like Miro and Kip jumping The Best Friends before their match but I do think Chuck Taylor should be let go after this loss. No honestly he was punked and made to tap out. Page vs. Hardy wasn't anything special and devolved into nonsense with people coming into the ring and the match not being thrown out. I don't understand what the point of the ladder match was. I'm not a fan of cinematic matches and I didn't care for the story behind it or seeing Sting again. The main event was hampered by these guys leaving a side of the ring without barbed wire or explosions and I feel like they did that so they could do some spots and that was lame. The interference sucked and the fact that the ring is surrounded by wrestlers but none of them were willing to help bugged me. Also the final explosion fell flat and I'm not sure about Kingston helping Moxly of all people"

[7.0] "Cool show with a terrible finish. Casino Tag Team Royale Match was The Match of The Night. Worth watching."

[4.0] "Pretty good show with a few high profile misfires. Christian is a really good signing for AEW - and the guy can likely still go in the ring unlike most of the names suggested - but when you announce that a HOF-worthy name has signed and you're revealing it at the PPV, you're going to disappoint people when it turns out to be Christian who we all saw sign for TNA years ago when he was still in his prime. And that wasn't close to the highest profile TNA signing back in the 2000s. Then the main event was great until the lame duck final explosion. They should've either emphasised that it was Omega messing up the explosives or tried to do something bigger and louder because everyone sold it like it was huge. Ladder match was decent but not the tightest of multi-man ladder matches. Hardy/Page pleasantly surprised me. Shida/Mizunami is a good battle."

[5.0] "really disappointing show, the Bucks vs Inner Circle match was ok at best, nowhere near the level these four could produce, the battle royal was fine for story development and had a good last few minutes but was way, way too long, the womens title match was fine, but went on too long too, would of been fine if it was about ten minutes, but then went for another five with about a million kick outs, the Miro tag match was what it was, was designed to get Miro over as a killer, which it did, but not sure they needed to have him selling so much in the middle of it, was more of an angle than a match, I did like the Hangman vs Hardy match, could of done without the interference at the end, but thought all in all this was the best match of the show, the Ladder match was a disaster, I'm done with multi-man ladder matches, 1 vs 1 or 2 vs 2 from now on please, all these 6 and 8 man matches are just sloppy now constantly trying to top each other and failing at it, the street fight was decent, but putting commentary on it as if it was live was just ridiculous and made what would of been good feel so much worse, and the barbed wire match was fine for what it was, not my type of match at all, but they did what they could with the stipulation, a shame that the ending was so bad, it's worth watching if you want a good laugh, the commentators having to sell that as if the ring exploded was funny, they let off some sparklers that were around ten foot from the ring, all in all a poor ppv, best match was Hardy vs Hangman, and even that wasn't amazing, was just good"

[9.0] "A true 9/10 PPV. All the matches were great and many were just one flaw short of being perfect, including specifically the Main Event which was an amazing match with a... disappointing post-match angle."

[8.0] "Unfortunately a PPV that will live in infamy for the final big explosion debacle. As far as the matches go though, nothing disappointing (except maybe for the ladder match) and 3 really enjoyable matches in the opener, street fight and main event. They have to recover from that whole embarrassment on Wednesday night and it's not going to be easy."

[9.0] "Revolution was awesome. People here just give bad ratings because of the ending probably which was truly devastating but it shouldn't put its shame on anything else."

[5.0] "I'd put this right between satisfactory and adequate. When you only do 4 of these a year, though, that's a miss. I really struggled to care about much of this card. The Bucks match was only pretty good, which means it ranks pretty low in their work. The tag team battle royale was completely unnecessary. Did we really need a 30 minute match to get Fenix and Pac over? The women's title was the first sign of life in this show, and was great. No issues there. The Miro match was inoffensive but again unnecessary. Page/Hardy was technically fine but should Page really take 15 minutes to beat Matt Hardy? The ladder match was wholly unremarkable. Finally, the last two matches pretty much delivered. I don't like cinematic matches, especially the kind where you're supposed to act like the camera isn't really there, but this was still very good. The main event was great save for the weak explosion on the outside and the interference at the end that kind of didn't make sense. That's just the matches. The ending, is of course, what everyone is talking about and that's a shame, but how could they not? Really unfortunate. As for the Christian signing. He's a great get for AEW but the way they promoted it did them no favors. Not a bad show, but it needed to be a GREAT one for the infrequency they do these and the price."

[4.0] "When you charge $50 for a show, you need to make it really fun, really good, well-paced and at least worthy of an 8. AEW's PPVs have been hit or miss lately, which is why I was grateful to get FITE credits for this to save money on it. I still feel ripped off. The show was unnecessarily long, self-indulgent beyond belief even by AEW standards and had an all-time awful ending that will never be forgotten and will forever be mocked, even if they find a way to sell it to AEW fans on Dynamite. Let's get to the matches. The tag title match would've been best served as a 10-13 minute match, but because Jericho, MJF and the Bucks are involved, you just know they had to make it longer than it needs to be. It was slow, as is expected from a match where one size consists of a fossilized Jericho and MJF, who is always average when he's working with someone whoo drags him down in the ring. The Bucks tried and the finish was fine, but the match was a *** at best. So what does AEW do to follow up that long match? A 25+ minute tag team battle royal of course! What an awful decision when it comes to pacing a PPV. The match was meh, the end result was good, and the match gets a **1/2 from me. For a match that long, that's a bad thing. Things picked up with Shida/Ryo, which was a good match, but the ending felt unnecessary. Match gets a ***1/4 and was easily the best one on the show to that point. Miro/Kip vs OC/Chuck was filler for a show that didn't need any, but Miro looked great, so I'll give it a ** as a boost, just for him. Hangman/Hardy was a solid wrestling match that, like every mach on the card, should've been shorter. A 15-minute Matt Hardy match in 2021 is a joke, and Hangman needing that long to beat him is ridiculous. **1/2 for that which, again, is bad for a 15-minute match. As if the show wasn't a pacing nightmare already, AEW decided to have the ladder match be 23 minutes of botch-filled wrestling and an overabundance of self-indulgent Cody. Ethan Page is fine but this was an awful way to debut a guy who is better in tags than as a singles wrestler. ** for that match. Finally, we got to the co-main and thankfully, we finally got a match that was actually great. It was a cinematic match and it was so much fun. Sting getting the pin might bother some, but I'm just happy that something on this show actually felt like it was worth paying for. That match gets an 8/10 from me. Then, that main event. I was worried before the show, since I felt like AEW was trying to bite off more than they can chew. Well, they did. The first 20 minutes of this match were fine for what it was, but that ending was bad and the aftermath was an all-time pro wrestling blunder that will be mocked forever, no matter how AEW tries to sell it. The first 20 minutes of the match were ***+, but the final 5 and aftermath were so bad that I'll have to downgrade it to a **1/2. So there you go. This show had one great match, one very good match, and the rest was either meh, overkill, sl"

[4.0] "AEW is proud of the variety they offer. But that's what fails them every single time. Their PPVs are a wrestling buffet, with a lot of things available, but only like one or two you actually like. The card had a bit of everything. Joshis, Deathmatch, Battle Royal, Comedy, multiman tag, multiman singles, Cinematic Match, a contract signing... But it doesn't matter. The quality of everything on the card was mediocre, with two downright terrible matches, one of them being the main event. They once again chose quantity over quality and variety over focus. They underdelivered on match quality, they underdelivered on surprise debuts (Christian wan never a huge name and Ethan Page was pwned in his debut match by an octogenarian-looking Jake Roberts) and most of all, they underdelivered on the huge EXPLOSIVE EXPLODING DEATHMATCH OF EXPLOSIONS AND DOOM."

[8.0] "Not a perfect show, but overall I really enjoyed this. The opening match was just ok for me, not bad but I'm not really into the Young Bucks and it seemed sloppy at times. I loved the tag team rumble though, particularly the back half. Fenix, Jungle Boy, PAC, and Silver is an incredible final four. Also big pop for Bear Country and some other great teams being mixed in. Women's match was great, and I really dug the underdog, angle-driven nature of the Orange Cassidy match. Page/Hardy was better than I expected, nice psychology around the hand. I liked some things about the ladder match but it never clicked right and had some clunky moments. Christian as the surprise signing didn't quite live up to the hype but now that he can actually wrestle again it'll be nice to see him get one last run, hope they use him well. LOVED the cinematic match, my favorite thing on the show, just a blast. I really enjoyed the main event match itself, much more than I expected to, and I popped huge for Kingston coming out to protect Moxley after all they have been through. Then... sigh, the explosion was a pathetic dud. So awkward, so unfortunate, up to that point they nailed it but it's hard to overcome a flop ending like that. Still, overall really enjoyed this show."

[6.0] "This was a pretty disappointing show for what it was hyped up for. If I remember correctly Tony Khan said that this show will have the most brutal match in AEW history, which it did, and the best cinematic match of the covid era, which it didn't. Christian Cage was the big Hall of Fame tier signing which I guess was cool. The highlights for me was the Tag Title match, the Women's Title match, and the World Title match. The cinematic match was just a backstage brawl in a fancy setting, nothing cinematic was really needed for it other than getting Sting in a match. As for the "bomb" at the end of the World Title match it can only be described as "puffy". I don't think they can dig themselves out of that as both Eddie Kingston and the commentary team sold it like it was devastating."

[7.0] "It says a lot that even AEWs worst PPV is still a decent show overall with a lot to enjoy, the cinematic match is fantastic, the ladder match is good fun, Hikaru and Ryo put on the best womens match in AEW so far and the main event was great (No the botch does not count in the match). speaking fo which is such a shame the pyro didnt go off for the end of the show i feel terrible for them, the rest of the card was decent to ok. the biggest flop of the night was unfortunately christian, the amount of hype they did for this just wasnt worth it. I'm glad Christian is back thougha nd I wish him all the best"

[8.0] "I genuinely liked the pay per view. The big matches delivered for me, especially the street fight and the main event. Best wrestling match was clearly Shida vs. Mizunami, that bout was excellent. I liked Page vs. Hardy as well and that Hangman finally embraced the Dark Order. Judging from the pop, the crowd liked it as well. I also liked seeing both Miro and Cassidy (somewhat) being booked strong. The ladder match was a clusterfuck, as AEW multi-man ladder matches seemingly have to be, but the put it all on the line and it was okay. The street fight was awesome, from the entrance till the finish one of the best cinematches so far. The main event was great as well and I enjoyed it a lot more than their Unsanctioned match, maybe because no glass was involved. Christian Cage is awesome as a surprise, I love him as a character. AEW is signing a lot of veterans, but in my book the right ones so far. The post-match of the main event, obviously, was a spectacular embarassment, but I will not judge the show based on the final minute, because everyone worked hard and I enjoyed all four hours."

[3.0] "I am a huge AEW fan who has watched every Dynamite and PPV, but this show just wasn't good. The matches went too long, there were a lot of botches, the match layouts were bad, and there were some questionable booking choices. Most of the matches were outright boring and even the few that weren't still had some problems. You could take any random Dynamite in the past couple months and it would be much better than Revolution which is a $60 PPV that is supposed to be better than them."

[8.0] "I'll grade the matches first and then address how the show ended. Bucks vs. Inner Circle was a good but not great Bucks match, honestly, they were never going to get the kind of match out of Jericho and MJF that they did out of FTR or Page & Omega (***1/2). I thought the match was as good as it could be and I was surprised the Bucks retained as its unclear where their story goes from here other than defending against Death Triangle (who maybe they drop the belts to or maybe it's total bollocks? ). Casino Tag Team Royale was a good tag team battle royal, but it seemed lacking in star power with only one Inner Circle team. It seemed not as good as the tag team battle royal they did on Dynamite just a month ago. Death Triangle winning was a solid booking decision though as to me no other winner made sense (I heard some rumors about Silver and Reynolds winning and while Silver is incredibly over, I just don't see them as legit title contenders) (***). Shida vs. Mizunami was a great match but the finish was kind of meh as I felt like Shida kicked out of Mizunami's finisher way too early and then they had Mizunami kick out of Shida's finisher just to save face and then the finish was kind of anticlimactic again because I think they didn't want to bury Mizunami or maybe it referenced something only hardcore Joshi fans would get. Anyway, I would've rearranged the finish so that Mizunami kicked out of Shida's finisher first. Still a really good match (***3/4). Kip and Miro vs. Chuck and Orange was OK, I mean they finally really put over Miro in a decent match but because they didn't want to bury Cassidy, Chuck took the submission. I felt like we'd seen it before. There was nothing new here. Hopefully they finally move on with Miro. Page vs. Hardy was better than I expected. I Expected Page would carry Hardy to a decent match, but the match was actually pretty good and Hardy didn't really need carrying. He looked really good. It was well booked as well. (***1/2). I really liked the ladder match as I really had no clue who would win as from a booking standpoint, pretty much everyone except Caster was a viable winner. Each guy got to shine and Ethan Page got some great spots in his debut. The match had a ton of great ladder match spots. It wasn't an all-time classic by any means, but it stands on its own as a pretty good match ***1/2. The Street Fight - I thought it was good for what it was. Some of the scenes didn't make much sense and a lot of it was just Darby setting up crazy stunts and bumps for himself, but it worked. The spot he did at the end to take out Cage looked really good and the match ended how it should have, with Starks eating a Scorpion Deathdrop and being pinned clean to put Sting over in his return. I don't rate cinematic matches but this one kept me watching and entertained. The signing of Christian a positive I think. [2.0] "I? m sorry, but as someone who has chosen AEW as their main American promotion, I was really letdown by this show. The night started off seemingly well, but just got worse and worse throughout the night. Bad booking decisions, most of the matches feeling overhyped and failing to deliver (Shida/Mizunami actually came through on their part), and the shows production was absolutely abysmal. Christian Cage, while he is a future HOF is still a pretty big letdown being the ? huge signing? hinted to us by Paul Wight. The better route would have been to have him randomly pop out during a match where none of us were expecting it, instead of having a segment dedicated to him during a PPV. He can be good as a mid-card talent and will provided a lot of knowledge and experience to those in the back, but he is genuinely not a main-event caliber talent that this company (and us fans) hyped him up to be. Please for the love of god do not to live commentary during cinematic matches. We understand you need time to set up for your main event and that? s completely fine, but we are all aware that the match is pre-tapped and having live commentary during it just feels extremely forced and out of place. It ended up really taking away from what was a pretty good piece from those involved, and just made the whole thing feel awkward. And finally, the biggest letdown was the main event. I had a bad feeling seeing the early hints they showed of what the ring was going to look like for this match. FMW was my first foray into Puroresu, so I got excited when they had Onita do a taped segment and though to myself, ? Ok sweet, he probably gave them great advice on how this match needs to look and how everything needs to be setup. ? I don? t know if he didn? t, AEW didn? t ask, or if they just didn? t listen because this came nowhere close to what came before it and missed the bar completely. Jon and Mox did fine with what they had to work with, and they actually nailed the exploding bat to my surprise but everything else felt really cheap. The landmines on the outsides were XPW levels of production, the barbed wire explosions felt weak as they had placed them about 2-3 feet away from the ropes, and the tension that? s supposed to build from the time bomb aspect was never there. To make matters worse, the ? explosion? (I? m laughing as I put that word in parentheses) didn? t need to happen at all whatsoever. The stipulation was that if the match hadn? t ended at 30 minutes that the remaining explodes went off. It ended with 3-4 minutes left on the timer so they could have completely avoided having what ended up happening. One would assume that they would have at least tested this in pre production to see how it looked. Maybe that didn? t happen here, maybe they decided they didn? t want their special effects to go to waste... But whatever decision they made was the wrong one, as it went over like a wet fart in church and really capped an extremely disappointing evening. To make matters worse"

[4.0] "Every time my AEW fan friends hype up a PPV and I decide to watch it, things turn out to be massively disappointing. Starting to think this company just can't use its great talent for a good show."

[9.0] "A solid enough show that was fun throughout the night aside from the botched ending. Lots of great matches with a shit ton of surprises in the mix, with Ethan Page, Maki Itoh, and Christian Cage making their AEW debuts, an excellent cinematic match, a pretty fun battle royal and ladder match, and a pretty brutal deathmatch with the ending taking the impact away from the storytelling. BEST MATCH: Darby and Sting Vs. Team Taz; WORST MATCH: Miro and Kip Vs. OC and Chuckie; OVERALL: ****"

[2.0] "Another underwhelming AEW PPV, with the main event poisoning the show, as well as an underwhelming debut with Christian. I LOVE Christian, but holy shit did they overhype him. MOTN was Shida/Ryo. Aside from that match, everything just went far too long, or was boring. The cinematic match was fine, the battle royale went way too long, but it was fine. TYB/Jericho and MJF was bad. Lastly, we must address the elephant in the room. The Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch might be the largest disappointment tonight. The awful explosion was bad, but the match itself was lacking in... explosiveness."

[6.0] "Revolution was good, but there were some downfalls to the show. Inner Circle vs Young Bucks was fine (***1/2) The tag team battle royale was your average battle royale. I'm still confused as to why QT Marshall got mad at Dustin. (**) Hikaru Shida vs Ryo Mizunami was really good! I enjoyed their match and it proves that AEW's women aren't bad, but they need more time to shine. (****) Kip Sabian and Miro vs Chuck Taylor and Orange Cassidy was mediocre. I'm not a huge fan of Miro's gimmick and current push in AEW. (**) Adam Page vs Matt Hardy was fine (***) The ladder match was decent and saw the debut of Ethan Page. The brass ring concept is stupid because its another pointless shot at WWE. Focus on your own company. Cody's injury angle was bland. (***1/3) Darby Allin and the Stinger vs Team Taz was mainly focused around Sting's comeback to the ring. Darby was just thrown around and doing spots. Other than that, it was a good match. (***1/2) Jon Moxley vs Kenny Omega was great, but the post match was really bad. I was laughing throughout the entire thing. (****) Christian was a good surprise for the HOF worthy signee. Everyone has ridiculously high expectations for AEW at this point."
