[4.0] "I don't really know what to say about him since I'm a bit mixed. But, first of all, as most of us say, his ring work has the most basic moves and he is very botchy. We can agree it isn't the best. Second, his single run was a total failure. His championship reign ended less than 100 days (which is actually surprising to me because I thought he was gonna hold it longer.) I didn't watch his WrestleMania match but I could see that he didn't do well. And, Gunther tapping out to him is just... Insane. Thirdly, I think he's better off being a tag team wrestler really. His team's work with Jimmy is at least something notable about him. I do see that they are trying to give him a "tag team" run which is at least better than his world title run. So I give him points for that. Fifth, he does have charisma and I like his vibes. But his entrance takes SO long. Especially at the rumble, like please end it already. It's like everything about him is just his entrance and "yeet". And finally, his promo is usually bland but his character work does something to his promos at least and he can grab the crowd's attention."

But Jey on his own just doesn't work, especially once his Bloodline story ended and he became "just me Uce." His moveset is very limited and basic, he botches a lot, and he has become mostly an entrance guy. Compare that to Warrior, who was also big on entrance, but had looks, charisma, and a larger-than-life presence. Jey has been overpushed mainly because the crowd loves his yeeting spots, but he simply cannot carry matches or deliver in-ring consistently. Many wrestlers have limited movesets like Cena, but Cena made it work, whereas Jey just can't. Now, even as a tag wrestler, he continues to botch."

But his in ring deteriorated in the last few years, his promos sound unenthusiastic and always out of breath. The amount of botches increased and the constant running it back really hurts the matches he is in (f.e. wargames, rumble). It doesnt help that his storyline gets permanently shifted around. From almost turning heel, to suddenly being happy to fight with Roman to hating his brother to getting back together with him into a tag team..."

The first wrestling match I watched live on streaming, since getting back into wrestking, was his infamous dethroning of Gunther at WrestleMania 41 (which I still think is a decent match to this day). I have no idea what the hell has happened since then, because it feels like his entire in-ring work and character work that he was building up to that point got completely bastardized. I could've sworn he was way better than this before?"

He has a terrible moveset, the worst Spear in history, and he's limited to spamming superkicks and shouting a ridiculous catchphrase over and over again. As a midcarder, he's already limited, but WWE continues to treat him like the "Main Event" Jey Uso, which is only justified by his appeal to the casual audience and selling shirts to children. In my opinion, he's one of the worst main eventers in WWE history, only better than Mahal and (of course) Khali. All of this becomes even more ridiculous when you remember that he has a twin brother who is better than him in everything, both in the ring and on the microphone. I give him credit for being over with the audience, and for the good tag team work he's putting for over 10 years, but hes still very weak as a whole. I REALLYYYY hate his promos too."

Neither charismatic nor worth more than a nickel in-ring, he's shown 0 improvement in the last few years and worse yet, his momentum show no signs of going anywhere. Get this man out of the singles division and actually back in tag teams where he's at least somewhat competent."

Editing this Feb 10, I'm done pretending he's good, single handedly ruined a great Tag Team match and completely wiffed a super kick by like 5 feet. WWE needs to do something cause Jey really really really sucks."

However, since becoming "Main Event Jey Uso", I feel like he has deteriorated a lot. Currently one of the worst parts of WWE and easily the worst to be near the main event scene in the last few years, he is so focused on putting himself and his entrance over that it starts to become funny from how insane it is. As for the matches, they are horrible; botchy and not much variety in moves. The fact he won the Royal Rumble and was made to submit Gunther was a jarring decision then, and even moreso today."

In no world should anyone with this level of in-ring ability be in a major company, let alone the world heavyweight champion in the biggest company in the world. If I were allowed to, he would be rated -15."

Always like this: *something something uce* *uh huh* *something* *uh huh* *four letters one word yeet* . Also that replay entrance theme middle of the matches are literally disrespecting to wrestling. If he didn't have ties Bloodline, he wouldn't have had a chance to stay in company. Even AEW, TNA wouldnt hire him. He is just an entrance guy with yeet chants. Who the heck even uses yeet memes? Is it 2015 or what? He is an absolutely joke, not like comedy gimmick legends like R-Truth."

The Samoan family will dominate and plague this business. Writing this after his royal rumble 2026 performance. Took about 5 minutes to get in the ring and then did his entrance another 2 times. Literally a one trick pony of spamming emotes and his entrance music playing to make the kids love him whilst making everyone hate him. I never want to watch a single show where this guy is involved in ever again. What a joke of a character."

The gimmick is absolutely not my thing, & mainly appeals to little children & young teens, whom are not a demographic that should be determining the trends for what should be a badass, violent stage-fighting company. Is constantly given ridiculous opportunities that should never be allowed to a guy with 2 moves & a catchphrase; a completely meaningless sub-month Intercontinental title reign that duly disrupted the momentum of a vastly more deserving Bron Breakker, a completely undeserved match with Gunther for the title, & then the most important belt in contemporary North-American wrestling, all because Rikishi believes that the right to Karen-whine at the manager of a fed he hasn't touched in 20 years comes with the territory of being a popular, mediocre big man. I can't remember a single Jey Uso match that left me wanting more, & on that note, the fact that he's been in WWE for nearly fifteen years provides him with absolutely no excuse for how mediocre he is in ring. His work with Jimmy is probably his best work, but even The Usos are the very last tag team I would look to if I were booking some kind of tag-team centric fed. Is such a shitty wrestler that I don't even care that he did a good job at WarGames."

The choice to have him win the royal rumble was absolutely ridiculous, and making Gunther tap out to him in like 10 minutes was simply mind-numbing. When you watch a Jey Uso match, prepare to see some flagrant botches. Him vs Jimmy uso at Wrestlemania genuinely made me lose brain cells. He isn't a bad tag team wrestler, but he may be the most overpushed wrestler in the 70 year history of the WWE. He flat out isn't a good singles wrestler, it's honestly not his fault, he just should never have been put in a main event spot."

[5.0] "When I was at the height of my adult fandom for WWE from between 2016 to 2018 or so, I really enjoyed The Usos as a team. Their heel turn really propelled them from a competent babyface in-ring duo lacking charisma into real stars that had great character and were really engaging on the mic. They also stepped their game up in the ring in terms of both their moveset and their surprisingly solid psychology. Jey in particular seemed potentially poised to hold his own in a singles role too. Not necessarily in a Shawn/Marty split from Jimmy- I absolutely hate that trope destroying perfectly good tag teams for no reason because it worked once a very long time ago- but as something concurrent to his great team with his twin. I don't know what the fuck happened in the years following the global COVID-19 pandemic but Jey has seriously regressed in nearly every way. He's a complete botch machine with no psychology that amazingly manages to drag down far superior wrestlers into legitimately bad matches. His promos have devolved into shouting, spamming YEET (which I guess to his credit is still over) in lieu of anything substantive, and generally proved that his main event run was a huge mistake. The Mania match he had with Jimmy is a horrible embarrassment and would probably have been my worst match of that year if not for the special level of hell that was Kota Ibushi vs Naomichi Marifuji happening a couple months prior. It still made eleven minutes feel like an eternity. And honestly, most of his singles matches even during the very enjoyable Bloodline storyline weren't really all that great either. I don't actively watch much WWE anymore for a variety of reasons, but I'm really hoping that him reforming his tag team with Jimmy means things improve. I wish there wasn't this notion that in order too be a truly great wrestler that you must be a singles wrestler first and foremost. It's such a reductive mindset that stems from the Shawn/Marty moment referenced earlier in this comment that everyone desperately tries to recreate over and over again. Can we just let a great tag team be a great tag team?"

Like, get off Twitter for one second and just look at the guy actually wrestle. Jey Uso is, well and truly, aight. Messy, but able to tell a decent story in the ring, easy to root for, and - honestly? A pretty damn good promo. I'm not kidding, argue with the wall. Getting a crowd behind you in wrestling is often all about finding a gimmick that sticks and going with it, and if "yeet" is your gimmick, then yeet away. Do I think he should've won a world championship match at Wrestlemania against Gunther? I... uh... well... put it this way. Oftentimes, a wrestler will get pushed when they're not ready, and instead of blaming the poor booking, people will immediately jump toward saying that the wrestler in question is a terrible, awful, dogshit waste of oxygen that couldn't wrestle a shirt over their head in the morning without their mommy's help - it happened with Roman, and on a smaller scale, it happened with Jey. Now, with him and Jey's recent tag title victory, I get the impression that Jey is gonna step out of the main event scene for a while, and the hate for him is gonna die down. People will go back to thinking Jey Uso is a well and truly alright wrestler. And, in my opinion, he is, so that's great! All is well in the world once more."
[0.0] "Literally nothing about him his good. When he first began his singles run, his ring work was ok and still had that Usos type promo which is a good thing. Now he sounds sooooo forced. His promos are the same generic thing. He's botchy and slow in his matches and literally plays his entrance theme DURING MATCHES and he's saying how he doesn't wanna be called "just an entrance" which I found very funny. He was given the royal rumble and completely fumbled the bag to the point where they had him do a kayfabe botch so it could play into the story. I can't believe this is the wrestler that tapped out Gunther."

Additionally he has had so many botches it's hilarious at this point. I'm happy he's finally back with his brother and the Usos can run the tag team division again. Their first match was a great one and the promo they cut was a ok one, nothing gone wrong but nothing memorable. I hope jet can recover his career as he's always charismatic and was great in the bloodline."

His push doesn't come from talent or in-ring ability, but from a mediocre audience that buys into an empty catchphrase like "Yeet" and the merch that comes with it. In the ring he's flat, repetitive, and completely shallow, with matches that say nothing and a moveset that's basic to the point of boredom. There's no psychology, no evolution, and no sporting merit. Calling him a relevant singles wrestler is a huge exaggeration for someone so mediocre--if he can even be called a wrestler at all."

[0.0] "2025 made it clear that Jey Uso is not on the level of a true main eventer, and his Royal Rumble victory is the clearest proof of that. A win that felt artificial from the very first second, with no credibility or in-ring substance, driven by booking rather than real talent. A Royal Rumble is supposed to crown someone ready to carry WrestleMania, not someone who barely survives the pace of big matches. Making Gunther tap out is downright ridiculous. Gunther, one of the most dominant, physical, and consistent wrestlers of the modern era, was made to look weak just to inflate a Jey Uso who has never shown he belongs at that level. It didn't elevate Jey; it damaged Gunther's credibility and further exposed how forced this push really is. In the ring, Jey Uso is still the same as always: botch-prone, sloppy, with poor timing, and overly dependent on his opponent to keep the match from falling apart. In a year where he's supposed to shine as a central figure, his mistakes stand out more than ever. The problem isn't just that he's winning--it's that he's winning without having improved enough to justify it. 2025 didn't establish Jey Uso; it overexposed him. And when a wrestler is pushed beyond his actual abilities, the result isn't greatness--it's frustration for the fans and yet another stain on creative decisions that insult wrestling logic"

The guy was tasked to win a title by submission and you could've driven a fucking bus between his arm and Gunthers neck. The only reason people like this fucking idiot is he shows up and goes "yeet" and the sheep follow. Even Jimmy can do everything he can but better. He's very intense and sometimes wears himself out too early which gives off the impression that he appears to lack stamina. He occasionally botches but he's not that bad. He's good as a tag team wrestler, especially alongside his brother. I personally find his gimmick annoying because I don't like the 'yeet' catchphrase or his over the top energy. It has no meaning to it and just seems silly, but it gets the crowd going. People like him because they find him fun and entertaining, so it makes sense that serious personalities might find him off putting. In that sense he's somewhat polarizing. 6/10 for his in ring skills, plus one additional point for his promo skills and charisma."

It would be like if John Cena was still doing his Doctor of Thuganomics gimmick into the 2010's. Also his skill as a solo wrestler is mediocre at best. Objectively, as a money-drawer that people want to see, Jey is one of the best at his job. But as a professional wrestler, I feel he is massively overrated. EDIT: I originally made this review in January 2025. I did go over his terrible WHC feud with Gunther in a previous edit but removed it for brevity. The man is a botch machine with the cardio of the Ultimate Warrior after 5 packs of cigarettes. Don't get me started when he 'runs back' his intro. This guy has fully bought into his own hype, when he would've been released years ago if he wasn't related to the Rock. At the time of writing he is in the semi final of the John Cena tournament, and if he beats LA Knight, he will face Gunther for the FOURTH time this year. A man like Gunther can only get a passable match out of Jey. How anyone other than children find him as entertaining to watch is a mystery to me. He gets 3 points for his previous run as a tag team. I liked him as a tag worker alongside his brother (who's way better than him by the way), but the idea of him becoming a steady main eventer over so many more talented wrestlers is absurd. The guy is a clueless bum in the ring. On top of that, he's slow, sloppy, lazy, redondant, and he needs to be carried by better wrestlers in order to have an even decent match, and he can even have bad matches with great wrestlers, that's how bad he is. I get it, he has an incredibly catchy entrance, he found one magic word, he has cool looks I guess (the silly glasses and the stupid grillz), oh, and he's Samoan and his cousin is WWE's biggest modern star, so nepotism will definitely help. On a side note, that Bloodline storyline was actually great, but ever since then, he's been the most unbearable thing going on in WWE. He's a man-child who exclusively relies on excessive "Yeetin" and running it back in order to get cheap crowd reactions. Because not only is he an atrocious single wrestler, but he can't even cut promos, and I just hate his insufferable ghetto wannabe attitude. Jey has an entrance and one goddamn word, that's it! How can anyone above twenty can take such a bum seriously is beyond me. He's a dummy, and gosh I hate myself for "Yeetin" in Lyon back in 2024 at Backlash, but I can assure you that I booed the hell out of him at Clash in Paris (and I was not the only one! ). The fact this man won a world title and a Royal Rumble still baffles me. If not for his fairly solid tag work alongside his brother, I would probably hand him a 2 or a 3, but for now, just get this fool away from the main event scene."

YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE A TOP IN RING PERFORMER TO BE PUSHED TO THE MAIN EVENT LET ALONE WIN A WORLD TITLE. To make it clear jey is not the first instance of this happening. Guys like jack swagger and jinder mahal were pushed the same but it feels different with jey as he was a perfectly adequate tag guy for many years and that was a good spot for him and with jimmy was one the better tag teams in wwe for a while. Even during the beginning of the pandemic with his initial push it felt somewhat more natural as it fit the bloodline storyline they were telling and it's not like he truly went over in the end as it was more so used to show him slowly joining Roman's side. Yet here we are a couple years later and Being a main eventer is ultimately not a good spot as he is just not on the same level as guys like Punk, Gunther, Seth. This brings me to my second biggest point which is that it is laughable to me that triple h can sit with a straight and say that "he only sees talent and not color" yet pushes guys like solo and jey who are no where close to being the most talented guys on the roster. One thing they do have in common though is being Samoan which is a likely reason as to why they are pushed as hard as they are. The truth is in practically any other promotion jey would never get an inch close to the main event and his ceiling would be a Lower to upper guy and maybe that's truly the right spot for him in the end."

He is only over because of a cringe yeet chant and his entrance and then steps in the ring and puts on consistent 1 star classics and worst match of the year contenders or he gets on the mic and consistently gives us worst promo of all time contenders. This man is truly pathetic. He's been in the WWE for 15 years and he sucks at literally everything. This proves he's lazy and only has a job because of nepotism. I'm so sick of this clown getting on the mic saying I've worked so hard to get to this moment when he's shown zero signs of growth for 15 years. This isn't working hard this is extreme laziness. Honestly if I was in charge I would fire this man because he's absolutely pathetic."

Can't discount the tag work of The Usos, who are a 10/10 team - but Jey on his own has been vastly overexposed by WWE, and failed to rise to the occasion even once since taking on a more singles focused role."

[4.0] "It gets to a point man. Jey Uso has now been "Main Event" for coming up on 2 years. Despite having a rookie singles run, dude is like a 10+ year vet. Why does he have the gas tank of a deflated balloon? You see people asking "What happened to Jey? He was good at some point." And sure, he was. In the Pandemic, he was working SIGNIFICANTLY less matches and going up against the likes of Bryan, Edge, McIntyre Claudio, etc. Now he's working not only more frequently on TV, he's also working house shows and has an entrance that blows him up before he even gets into the ring. Said entrance can be longer or shorter depending on the night, and sometimes repeated multiple times over. You can start to see the issue. When you're given not only a RUMBLE WIN but also then WIN THE TITLE AT MANIA, you shouldn't be getting gassed like that man. You should have a level of consistency, even if it's consistently decent that's something. But his reputation is consistently mediocre. I want Jey to succeed, I really do and I feel bad for him for all the hate he gets but man if it isn't hard to not just give up and laugh at him. Like at this point I can't even hate the man because every time he fucks something up I just laugh. Jey is like, top 10 most entertaining wrestlers to watch rn and for all the wrong reasons. IT'S JUST ME UCE!"

[2.0] "Jey Uso is terrible. There's no way around it. He botches every match, and has even done so with his finisher to the point Michael Cole called his spear a "crossbody" on air. His singles run is a joke and the fact he won a royal rumble/subsequent world title is an insult to wrestling. He is much better in a tag team with his more talented brother, but even in those matches he has little to offer. I've seen this man accidentally break his face open while delivering a chair shot to Bron Breakker. I've seen him sell a swinging neckbreaker like a DDT to the point CM Punk had to shoot stop him in the skull out of frustration. He's out of breath two minutes into every match and has no ring psychology. This man's nickname is main event, but the reality is he shouldn't even sniff developmental. He's lucky Roman Reigns is his cousin. Everytime he hops on a mic he shakes and stutters through a 3rd grade sentence or two before ending every sentence with "uce" and then topping the whole thing off with a "yeet." He gets mad about being viewed as just an entrance but runs it back twice every show (borrrrinnngggg). By the time he's done yeeting about, he's out of breath and the bell hasn't even rung yet. I will never understand the appeal of this bum and I'm glad it seems WWE is finally scrapping his world title flirtations."

However, with that being said, he is not a good singles wrestler, at all. Way too limited in ring to be a world champion, I have no idea how he's actually been given the chance to be that."

[3.0] "Half a year after my original review, I can't help but see that Jey Uso has regressed, yet again. His WHC run was a flop and he just dropped the title back to Gunther and now he's more directionless than ever. Yeah, he won the big one at the biggest stage of them all, but does a single TikTok moment represents an entire wrestler's career? I don't think so. He's fun to watch if you're on the arena, but I sincerely and genuinely roll my eyes and either skip his TV time everytime he begins "yeeting", and even that got worse, with repeats of his song and mid-matches pauses to yeet. He talks about proving himself but he just cannot do it, and I doubt that he will ever be seen as the guy within the company ever again after 2025."
