Hangman Page has it all, an incredible look, an intensity that fires you up just watching him, true generational in ring ability, a sick finisher that is completely believable, and more than anything he just has a connection with his audience that no one else has. This man is absolutely adored by AEW fans and always has been. He is the closest thing to Sting we have in the modern era, someone that is the living embodiment of a promotion outside of WWE and will carry that promotion on his back for many years to come."

For a guy that used to be a teacher, he doesn't half pull a convincing wild eyed lunatic. His TDMs are minor gruesome classics. Definitely went stale for a while, retiring Daniels reinvigorated him culminating in his second all too brief World Strap. Maybe not an elite tier top guy going forward, his weird psycho drama with Swerve still has legs and he's always a welcome addition on any card."

Hangman has become one of my favorites and i can't wait to see what he does next. COWBOY SHIT."

[4.0] "His standard fare is certainly not Shawn Stasiak or Jon Heidenreich levels of awful by any stretch but I've never been overly impressed by it. His promos aren't particularly captivating, follow the same cookie-cutter formula more often not & his gimmick as a rootin-tootin cowboy is difficult to buy, because he looks so polished & "media-friendly". He's tough as fuck when it comes to the death match shit but that's really the best I can give you. Many of his wins over the past numerous years have come at the expense of many significantly more fun, enjoyable workers. The fact that he has a 9.1 is among the more mystifying things I've ever seen in my one year here. I'm rating 4 as a tacit admission that he's obviously competent, but my "How much I enjoy him score" really is more of a 3. I'm really sorry but I mean maaan I've srsly just got nothing for you. I was very happy when they got the belt off him."

However, he's change over the last few years thankfully and now he's one of my favorites again, 2025 was his freaking year and had beautiful redemption story. His feud with Swerve is one of AEW's best"

The only things holding him back are his lack of ring psychology, being boring as a Babyface and the Swerve cage match. What the fuck. He probably doesn't deserve this high of a rating, but I can't help myself. And ending Moxley's horrible reign is enough for me."

I started going to shows there periodically from 2012-2017 and saw him get better and better. Then I saw him working in Ring of Honor and New Japan and that's when you could really see how good he could be. Now with AEW I think he's realized his full potential and he's one of the cornerstones of that promotion. He's one of the best in the world right now and I'm glad he's the centerpiece of AEW because he's better than a lot of guys pushing 50 who have tantrums."

He doesn't look like a true cowboy. His character is presented as kind of an alcoholic, but he always looks awkward carrying a beer around. His promos aren't very good and I can't understand the monster push he's had in AEW since the beginning. He wouldn't get it if it weren't for his friendship with the CEOs."

Really loved his run to All In though, the victory against moxley and the lead up to it shows he does have potential."

[10.0] "Everything Adam Page does is good. It does not matter if people dont understand or dont agree, but he is absolutely without a doubt the Stone Cold Steve Austin of the 2020s. To be a little more accurate, he is if Mick Foley had Stone Cold's gimmick. The heart and soul of a man who was told he wasnt going to go far, never gives up, but is also brutal as hell, a real badass and speaks to the common people. To be even more bold, the next 10 years of Page's career likely will be a vague, pseudo "what if" if Stone Cold never got his neck messed up and stayed going for another decade."
TPG wrote on 21.12.2025:
[10.0] ""Hangman" Adam Page stands as one of the most complete and emotionally resonant wrestling storytellers of the modern era. While he undeniably possesses the physical tools; strong look, legitimate in-ring ability, and natural acting instincts; those qualities are secondary to his greatest strength: an unparalleled understanding of character and narrative. Page does not simply perform a role; he inhabits it. His long-term storytelling is meticulous and deeply intentional, built not only through major milestones but through subtle, cumulative details in promos, body language, and match psychology. Every hesitation, failure, and breakthrough feels deliberate. His arcs succeed because they are rooted in authenticity, making his struggles relatable and his triumphs genuinely cathartic. What elevates Hangman beyond technical excellence is emotional investment. He has the rare ability to make victories feel meaningful on a personal level, blurring the line between fiction and lived experience. His success resonates not because he wins titles, but because he earns them through vulnerability, self-doubt, and perseverance. That emotional gravity is what transforms him into something almost mythic; a modern wrestling hero audiences desperately want to see succeed. At his best, Page represents wrestling at its most powerful: character-driven, patient, and profoundly human. In a landscape often dominated by spectacle and immediacy, Hangman Adam Page proves that depth, sincerity, and long-term vision still matter; and matter greatly."

His character work feels bland and his mic work lacks presence, which makes it hard for him to carry a feud on his own. For me he lands in the middle of the pack and doesn't reach the level that fans often claim he does."

[10.0] "Given he just lost the belt I figured it was good a time as any to give Hangman a rating, and I just gotta with the full ten. Since 2020, he's been one of the most complete, well-rounded pro wrestlers in the world. Whether as the big babyface champ, an insane heel, or something in between, he makes it feel authentic. His promos aren't these perfectly polished recitations; he's always wearing his feelings on his sleeve and just letting it rip. He makes it feel real, and relatable, even in his darkest moments. His match catalog at 34 years old is kinda unreal. He's been one of the top stars in AEW for years and he's made the most of it pretty much every time. He's done some of the best tag matches AEW has ever seen. Nobody this century has performed the hardcore No DQ/deathmatch stipulations in American mainstream wrestling as good as Hangman has. He's done the best hour long match I ever seen with Bryan Danielson, and then they did 3 more incredible matches together after that. This year alone in 2025 he's been in the top two AEW matches of the year by my estimation at Double or Nothing and All In Texas, and then you got his matches against the DCF, the two against Fletcher, the TDM against Christopher Daniels, the Revolution MJF match, the falls count anywhere against Hobbs. All kinds of different matches with all kinds of different opponents, he's excelled at. Even though he lost the world title, its only a matter of time before he gets it again. He's gonna be a top star for AEW for years to come, and he's very well deserving of the Main Character title."

[10.0] "let's talk about the journey of this hero. this man. he was the nephew of his uncle who made the title virginia is for lovers. he was a teacher before wrestler. he was the bullet club's backline and roh before comeing to aew. that's where the journey came. The story of "Hangman" Adam Page in AEW is a powerful, character-driven epic, starting from the very foundation of the company in 2019. He was announced as a founding signee alongside The Elite, immediately setting him up as a top-tier talent. His early narrative was defined by near misses and a relentless climb for the top prize. He earned the first-ever shot at the AEW World Championship by winning the Casino Battle Royale at Double or Nothing, but was ultimately defeated by Chris Jericho at All Out to crown the inaugural champion. This initial failure established a core theme: the struggle for the ultimate prize, and the self-doubt that came with it. The next chapter saw him inadvertently find his footing in the tag team division, forming a successful, yet ultimately doomed, partnership with Kenny Omega. On January 22, 2020, they became the second-ever AEW World Tag Team Champions in the first title change in company history. Despite their success, Page's storyline tension and isolation from The Elite grew. This period was crucial, as it allowed him to develop the persona of the "Anxious Millennial Cowboy, " a wrestler torn between the camaraderie of his friends and his own insecurities and desire for independence. The inevitable split happened when he was removed from The Elite by The Young Bucks, and the tag team reign ended at All Out 2020 against FTR. Now truly alone, his story pivoted to his quest for the World Championship again. He fell short against Kenny Omega at Full Gear 2020, which served as a heartbreaking end to that year. His redemption arc began in early 2021 with the unexpected, yet endearing, support of The Dark Order. Though he refused to officially join, their loyalty created a new, stable base of support. This led to a resurgence of momentum, culminating in a dramatic return after paternity leave, where he won the Casino Ladder Match to earn his long-awaited title shot. The pinnacle of his journey was at Full Gear on November 13, 2021, when he finally defeated Kenny Omega to capture his first AEW World Championship, a moment of catharsis for the character and the fans, concluding a three-year storyline of doubt, struggle, and eventual triumph. His 197-day reign proved his legitimacy, with notable defenses against Bryan Danielson, Lance Archer, and Adam Cole. The years that followed saw Page go through various high-profile feuds and challenges, maintaining his status as a main event player. His lengthy and brutal rivalry with Jon Moxley resulted in Page becoming the first wrestler in AEW to make Moxley submit. He also re-joined The Elite in their feud with the Blackpool Combat Club, showing his loyalty and complicated relationship with his original stablemates. However, the most transformative period came during his lengthy feud with Swerve Strickland in 2023 and 2024. This rivalry pushed Page to new, darker territory, adopting more aggressive and villainous traits, which included a controversial, violent Texas Deathmatch. He later won a vicious Lights Out Steel Cage Match at All Out 2024 to conclude the rivalry, fully embracing his darker side. Despite his heel turn, his ultimate destiny was realized in 2025. He achieved another monumental milestone by winning the Owen Hart Cup, leading to a Texas Deathmatch with Jon Moxley at All In: Texas. On July 12, 2025, Page defeated Moxley to win the AEW World Championship for the second time, proving that his journey from the anxious outsider to a two-time World Champion is one of the most compelling and complete stories in modern professional wrestling."

At the time of writing this, he is on his 2nd AEW World Title Reign, and is proving his status as the face of the revolution. It certainly helps that he has put on some of the most gripping matches of the decade with the likes of Swerve, Bryan Danielson, and Jon Moxley without seeming like a lesser talent in comparison."

Of course he's got the look, he's got the acting chops, he's incredible in the ring, but above all else, Hangman has a deeper understanding of his character, his story, than perhaps any other wrestler working today. The long-term storytelling this man is capable of is unbelievable and it's not just the cathartic triumphs or the horrifying lows that sell it, it's the small details in every promo, every match along the way. This, in tandem with the authenticity he pours into his work, creates something superhero-like, a character you're desperate to see succeed, a character you can connect with so deeply that you surprise yourself with tears streaming down your face because his victories really do mean something deeper than wrestling to you. For my money, he's the best wrestler in the world. Cowboy Shit."

I've seen him go from Bullet Club's Young Boy in 2016 having Hardcore matches with Jay Briscoe, to having Tanahashi want to whisk him away from Bullet Club after being impressed by him the G1 in 2018, to starting a career defining run in AEW that is ongoing since 2019, which currently has him as AEW World Champion for the second time in a match that perhaps had the hottest crowd of 2025 for a massive stadium fully behind him. Hangman Page is everything that I truly want to see in a wrestler, and he's showing no signs of slowing down, we're just getting started here. The heart and soul of AEW is Hangman Page."

His wrestling is solid, though he does too much deathmatch shit. His promos are unremarkable, but get the point across. He lacks a little charisma, but he's as solid as solid gets. Is he main event or face of the company worthy? Not if you ask me. He'd be much more tolerable as a mid card wrestler, perhaps that gatekeeper role."

He's extremely versatile and he can be flexible with different wrestlers and work within their styles. He is one of the best developed characters in wrestling today and it feels like he actually wants to have an evolving character rather than a caricature that it feels like many wrestlers end up having. What I do know is he is my favorite wrestler, the guy I instantly gravitated towards when I first got into wrestling, the guy I watched go from Bullet Club goofball to AEW Champ and beyond, the guy I resonated with time and time again with his promos and who he is as a person (aside from the whole burning down Swerve's house, even though that's a pristine hater right there). There's so much more that can be said, but simply put, Hangman is the guy I look at and see someone I want to be like as a person (again, aside from burning people's homes down). Easily able to be a top guy in any promotion and has been so for a long time. His feuds especially with Kenny and Swerve are the stuff of legend nowadays, especially Swerve. Those two are destined to want to beat each other up for years and I love it each time."

[10.0] "Page is the perfect blend of the current era of pro wrestling and the territory era of pro wrestling. Page has been on fire in terms of promos, especially since his return as the wild card in the 2024 Owen Hart Cup. His feud with Swerve Strickland was so great that it still has lots of juice 17 months after their first confrontation. In the ring, he's a very hard hitting striker with a few tosses here and there, the moonsaults, and even a little bit of submission offense (Ankle Lock). Page's style allows him a great deal of versatility in terms of having chemistry with opponents, something that any person who is considered a "main character" should have. Even with new emerging stars in AEW, Page will always be the main focus of AEW."

[7.0] "Very good worker and decent on the mic. His work in New Japan in 2017 and 2018 promised a lot and his quest for the world title was the best of all 2021. Unfortunately, once at the top, Hangman failed to live up to his role as world champion and I can't speak of him as a professional either, since he wasn't capable of doing a simple promo in front of someone he doesn't like (Punk)... I'm not going to deny that Hangman was my favorite wrestler from 2017 to 2021... but after his "worker rights promo" he only proved to be a spoiled brat who is not capable of respecting the time given to him on television. Still, excellent worker in the ring."
