The Shockmaster: "So you're the man that rules the world? They call me The Shockmaster. You've ruled the world long enough, Sid Vicious. Get ready! Come on, you want a piece of me? You want a piece of me? Come and get me! Come after me, Sid! I'm ready. Along with Davey Boy, Sting and Dusty Rhodes, we'll see you at the Fall Brawl, at the War Games. Until then... A-HA-HA-HA! A-HA-HA-HA!"

[1.0] "Iconic for all the wrong reasons. The whole Flair for the Gold talk show segment was rubbish. Just a load of most incomprehensible shouting. First from Flair, then Davey Boy and Sting come out and have a shouty conversation with Flair and then shouty Sid comes out and shouts. Then Tugboat in a glittery storm trooper helmet falls through the wall to stunned silence and then starts shouting. Proper wrestlecrap at its best."

[10.0] "Might be in the mount rushmore of the most hilarious segments in the history of wrestling. Before they reveal the shockmaster its already hilarious just from sting trying to drop these little clues and sid just losing his mind and then shockmaster falls headfirst through the wall and loses his blinged out stormtrooper helmet and is also accompanied by an explosion which was totally not needed but is just so funny. This sent everything off the rails completely and it seems sid was the only one able to not break at some point during this. This whole segment would probably never be talked about had it not just gone totally south but thats what makes it so classic, if i was to rate this based on how good of a comedy sketch it is then its a 10/10."

Just imagine a dude in a sparkly stormtrooper helmet, a vest, jeans, and busting through a wall while falling in the process. The execution was so poorly done, but its legacy as a hilarious piece of media will never be let down."

[10.0] "This segment was so bad, so poorly done, horribly pulled off, that it ended up being a riot! Seriously, show this promo to anyone, and they'll find it funny. This entire debut is hilariously bad on so many levels, it's almost complex. From Sting's goofy introduction ("...our partner is going to SHOCK the world..."), to Shockmaster (as Davey says) "falling flat on his arse, " his mask coming off, Sid trying to carry on like nothing happened, Shockmaster thinking Sid is doing his voice and he starts making hand gestures and Ole Anderson starts laughing before he starts saying his lines makes this a recipe for disaster, truly an iconic botch that lives on in the minds of professional wrestling fans, thank you Botchamania for the memes. The Room of professional wrestling promos that aren't done by Scott Steiner."

[10.0] "If everything had gone right, this would still have been a goofy segment, but probably would've been forgotten fairly quickly. But Shockmaster tripping and falling through the wall brought this into the realm of legend. From the fall itself, to how it sent everything else off the rails - Davey Boy breaking character, to Sid refusing to break character, to even Ole cracking up on-mic at the beginning of the Shockmaster's lines, it has to be one of the most unintentionally hilarious segments ever in wrestling. It goes a long way to proving the idea that when wrestling is good it's good, and when it's bad it's still good. From any tangible metric, this was a complete failure, but because I can't think of many wrestling segments I've gotten more pure entertainment value from, I really can't justify giving it any lower rating."

[6.0] "Yes this whole segment may arguably be the embarrassing and disasterous debut in the history of wrestling, basically killing the Shockmaster character before he even had a chance to wrestle. But honestly it's so damn entertaining I can't help but love it a little bit."
Dynamax Dawn wrote on 02.03.2023:
[6.0] "I feel for the Shockmaster I really do, you ever have one of those days where just nothing goes right and you look like an idiot in front of everybody? Well at least for us our dumb moments are usually forgotten. The Shockmaster's goof lives on forever in wrestling infamy. I can't rate this a 0 though its just too damn funny. I'll give it the same rating I gave the "It was me Austin! " Higher power promo a 6 because its so meme worthy. Never have I related more to a debuting wrestler but not in a way that's good business for the company or talent involved. You'll get em next time Shockmaster I'm sure haha"

[10.0] "I am still laughing almost 30 years later. This is one of those moments that truly belong to the "so bad it's good" category. Everything about it is unintentionally hilarious, from Typhoon's ridiculous costume to the pre-recorded "promo" that sounded like a cheap 80's ad for a used car dealership. Ole Anderson should have booked more comedy angles as he had a flair for them in that timeframe."

SlothFacts wrote on 06.06.2016:
[0.0] "I can't give this anything but a zero, but apparently I need to attach a comment if I want to do that. The problem is, I'm not even sure what to say. The badness is self-evident in this promo. It's so bad it's good, but only from the perspective of being decades removed from the segment! It ruined Ottoman's run, and in a sense, his career! I don't think this promo would have been any good even if he hadn't tripped through the wall and unmasked himself at the start, because the entire gimmick was pretty unintentionally ridiculous to begin with, and the piped-in voice was not helping. It's a great watch, but it certainly did not accomplish the goal of introducing this new character to the audience."

[2.0] "I'd give this a 10 for the heck of it, but being serious here, the promo itself was too short and was not entertaining one bit. The only reason this promo was gold was because of what happened before Shockmaster spoke."
dudemanbearpig wrote on 24.11.2015:
[10.0] "This really is one of the all-time worst segments in wrestling history, but that's why it's so great. It's just legendarily awful and definitely falls into "so bad it's good" territory. Everything (the Shockmaster's cheesy look, him falling over and losing his helmet, everyone's reactions, the obviously voice-overed promo) came together to make this a memorable moment and utterly hilarious."
