Title:
"I'm gonna get in the ring, and I'mma get in yo' butt"
Date:
11.05.1999
[Gene Okerlund is in the locker rooms for an interview]

Gene Okerlund: "Here on Saturday Night there is quite a buzz back in the locker room area - that buzz emanating from one Curt Hennig. And the object of his criticism is this man, my guest at this time. I'm talking about the big man from the nWo, the spiritual figurehead if you will: Stevie Ray. Curt Hennig, appararently, has a bone to pick with you."

Stevie Ray: "You know, 'Mean' Gene, I've watched Curt Hennig's career. A second generation wrestler. And as far as I'm concerned, I don't care anything about you, Curt Hennig. I don't care about yo' daddy, I don't care about yo' mama, I don't care about nobody but myself and my nWo brothers. Curt Hennig, lemme let you know something, brother. You was in the ring with my brother, I needed to talk to him, you got in my way, I slapjacked yo' butt on the head! That's what I do to fruit booties like you! Now... Curt Hennig, you want me in a match? You got me, baby. It'll take me about, mmm, two or three minutes to get out of this stuff, get into my garb, and I'm gonna get in the ring, and I'mma get in yo' butt. It ain't gonna take long, Hennig."

Gene Okerlund: "Wait a minute, I'm gonna interrupt right here, Stevie Ray. I get the impression that you are taking the great Curt Hennig way too lightly."

Stevie Ray: "'Mean' Gene, I don't know why you just used the word 'great'."

Gene Okerlund: "I've been around this kid for 15 years, I know how good he is!"

Stevie Ray: "Curt Hennig has never seen anything like Stevie Ray. I am six foot six and I weigh well over 303 pounds, Curt Hennig, and I can move like a cat. Curt Hennig, when I get in that ring tonight, brother, you better have all guns blurrin', cause when I see you, Curt Hennig, I'm gonn' beat you like yo' daddy should have did some twenty, thirty years ago, Curt Hennig! You don't know who you're messin' with! Brother, I'm from 110th Street, and I eat suckas like you for breakfast, lunch and dinner! And I'm gonn' eat you up tonight, sucka! So bring it! Don't sing it!"

Gene Okerlund: "Thank you very much, Stevie Ray, that is still to come here on Saturday Night, but we're gonna be back with more after this!"

Stevie Ray: "Fruit booty."

"Stevie Ray had that Tonga Loa thing going on where he was terrible at literally everything, which eventually just makes it funny. This is such an objectively bad promo but the aggressively homoerotic overtones throughout make it objectively hilarious, so I don't think it's possible for me to rate this. It's just so absurd that it's not even offensive."

[4.0] "Pretty generic and "there" promo from Stevie Ray. He's never been that good on the stick, especially when he's supposed to be heeling it up as part of the nWo B-team, but he does his best here. The "get in yo' butt" line is probably the most memorable part of this promo and the reason why it's even up here rather than being forgotten."

"In case you ever wondered why Stevie Ray's attempt at a singles career failed. This one promo should provide all the examples you need."
