Promo Data
Title:
"The Cream of the Crop"
Date:
11.05.1987
Gene Okerlund: "WrestleMania III at the Silverdome in Pontiac, Michigan. It's a day that I'm certain my guest at this time will not forget. I'm talking about the former Intercontinental champion of the world Macho Man--"

[Savage enters suddenly]
Randy Savage: "Nothing means nothing! Nothing means nothing, man..."

Gene Okerlund: "'Nothing means nothing'? What do you mean by that?"

Randy Savage: "Ooooh, I'm talking about all the way to the top, yeah. Unjustifiably in a position that I'd rather not be in, but the cream rises to the top.
[Savage slowly reveals he is carrying a small coffee 'creamer'/'milkette' in his hand, which he shows to the camera]

Oh yeah. Macho Madness yeah, [Savage drops the creamer] has got more to offer than President Jack Tunney thinks that I got, yeah. And let me tell you something right now, cards stacked against the Macho Man Randy Savage in WrestleMania III, let me say it, yeah. Let me say it out loud, and let me point to the President of the World Wrestling Federation, the Macho Man Randy Savage is not happy with your decision, yeah.

[Savage dramatically reveals another small coffee creamer which he holds up to the camera once more]
I am the cream in the World Wrestling Federation [Savage casually tosses the creamer away] and there is no doubt about it, yeah. You, Mean Gene Okerlund [Savage produces a third creamer and delicately places it in the top pocket of Gene Okerlund's blazer], you know that I'm the cream of the crop!"

Gene Okerlund: "Well, wait-wait a minute though Randy, I've got to ask you very seriously, do you blame Mr. Jack Tunney, the distinguished President of The World Wrestling Federation, for Ricky Steamboat being the Intercontinental Champion today?"

Randy Savage: "Yeah, I do, yeah. Outside interference, yeah. In my moment of glory! Yeah, and now I'm living in a nightmare. And I am the cream. And now, not only the Intercontinental Heavyweight belt must fall, but the World Heavyweight Championship belt! Because Hulk Hogan, yeah, [Savage produces a fourth coffee creamer in a magician-like gesture] I am the cream, yeah. The cream of the crop. And there is no-one [Savage places the creamer on his head and continues the promo with it balanced there] that does it better than the Macho Man Randy Savage!

[The creamer falls off Savage's head as he turns towards the camera.]
On balance, off balance, doesn't matter. I'm better than you are, yeah, and I'm talking everyone in the World Wrestling Federation, and I'm even talking...

[Savage spins slowly around in a circle]
...To President Jack Tunney, yeah. I'm on... My way, and nothin' is gonna stop me! Nothing's gonna stop me."

Gene Okerlund: "You know, just out of curiosity, Randy, and I certainly don't want to diminish your tremendous God given talents, but I'm very curious. I haven't seen Elizabeth lately."

Randy Savage: "Yeah. She's on the outside of the ring, does she interfere in matches, yeah? Nothing, zero, pure athlete yeah and I've been, uh yeah, maligned from the top to the bottom and because they can't handle the Macho Man Randy Savage!

[Savage pulls out one final coffee creamer which he throws in the air and catches]
The Cream of the Crop! Nobody does it better!"

[Savage tosses the coffee creamer towards the camera and exits the interview.]

[8.0] "This is a fun interview and Savage does a great job getting selling his anger while not just yelling at the camera vowing revenge. I love Macho Man using that coffee creamer as a prop as well."

[10.0] "Can we talk about the packets of cream for a moment? Randy pops them from out of nowhere and even improvises in the bit when that packet falls from his head. 'On balance, off balance, doesn't matter.' Genius, just genius. I always thought of Randy being the better wrestler during 80s WWF, and I still think so, considering the quality of matches he had. He was better than Hogan, and still is and this promo proves it. He is the cream of the crop without a doubt!"

[8.0] "It's an iconic promo, all thanks to the Macho Man unique charisma and constantly spamming creamers, but besides that, it's too average and simple in content. Like I said, this is just remembered because it was cut by Savage and nothing else."

[10.0] "I cannot think of Savage without thinking of two things: Steamboat match, and his endlessly self-replicating packets of cream."

[10.0] "Probably my personal favorite Macho Man promo? It's iconic. What more can you say about it. Macho's mannerisms while Gene keeps a straight face while reporting is pretty funny too, with hindsight. The fact that he brought in 3 cups of creamer is hilarious. Especially when Savage puts the creamer on top of his head. Despite the comedic aspects, everything Mach says is totally believable. It's the main reason why this promo is so memorable, perfect work by these two."
