Eddie Kingston: "I went to the doctors. They told me I have a slight tear in my MCL and he said I shouldn't wrestle. I looked at him, I looked at him and told him -- I said: 'Yeah sure, let's, let's speed this up.'. The reason why I told him that and the reason why I don't care about a tear -- the reason why I don't care about being in pain every single day is because on November 13th at ECW-Arena -- the biggest match of my life, not my career, life -- is on that day. The biggest match in CHIKARA's 10 year history is on that day, when we crown a Grand Champion for the first time.

2011 has been a horrible year for me, personally and professionally.

But on November 13th all that's out the window. Even the personal stuff, from when I was a kid, is out of the window. Getting kicked out of every high school I went to. Getting kicked out of two wrestling schools I went to. All the bad things I've ever done in my life, hurting kids, hurting women, doing what I've done wrong. It's all out the window. It's out the window because when I win that championship, when I have that title in my hands I have my redemption. I have my penance.

And I need it, I need it also because a man that we named this tournament after, Alex Whybrow a.k.a. Larry Sweeney, is MY brother. No one except MINE. That man would have been the best man at my wedding. That man would have been the godfather to my children. I love you, Alex Whybrow, and I know you're gonna be watching that night and there's no way, Mike Quackenbush, traitor or not -- there's no way I'm gonna let that man down. 'Cause I'm tired of letting people down. I'm tired of letting myself down.

Ladies and gentlemen, if you never watched CHIKARA before, if you never watched one second of pro wrestling: You will be shocked and you will be awed by what CHIKARA gives you. And you will see fights that you've never seen before.

I need this. I need my redemption. I need it. 'Cause I'm so tired of hurting, I'm so tired of feeling like the bad guy and nothing I do is right. But when I win the Grand Championship, when I pin my trainer with the bad knee or not -- 'cause I will crawl to Philadelphia, I will crawl on my hands and knees to get there -- 'cause I need it.

Ladies and gentlemen, with my brother in arms watching me, me and you, Mike Quackenbush, will have an epic match. I guarantee you on my beautiful mothers eyes, I guarantee on you, Alex, we will have an epic match that night. A match that no one, no one in any professional sport has ever seen before.

I won't let you down. I won't let people down no more. I am Eddie Kingston and I will be the Grand Champion on November 13th. Mike, get ready for a war. Get ready for the battle of your life, 'cause this is not a game anymore. This is not a joke.

November 13th, Eddie Kingston, the last of a dying breed, will be the first Grand Champion. Holla."

Kingston did hook me telling us about how the tournament is dedicated to his friend (Larry Sweeney) who had passed away. I'd rate this a 6 over the epic match line, though I do remember Kingston had got himself disqualified in the past. I saw this as him letting the fans know he'd do his best to be honorable despite his reputation."

[10.0] "Oh man, I actually got a tear in my eye watching this. What the hell was that? ! Yeah, it starts kinda slow, like you're just catching Eddie talking real, but then -- BUFF -- it hits you like a freight train. This promo is raw emotion, real pain, and pure heart all wrapped into one. Eddie lays it all bare -- his injuries, his failures, the demons he's faced since he was a kid, and the pain he's carried every single day. But this isn't just a pity story; it's a fire lit under his soul. You feel the desperation and hunger in his voice -- this isn't just a match, it's his life on the line, his redemption, his penance. What makes it so powerful is how personal it gets. The shout-out to Larry Sweeney, calling him his brother, that's not wrestling talk -- that's deep, real human connection. The way Eddie talks about crawling to Philly with a torn knee if he has to... that's next-level dedication. This promo isn't just hype for a wrestling match, it's a raw, emotional battle cry. He's not just promising a great match, he's promising a war -- a fight that will make people sit up and realize what pro wrestling really is. If you've never watched CHIKARA or Eddie before, this promo alone might convert you. It's a masterclass in storytelling, passion, and heart. Eddie Kingston isn't just a wrestler here -- he's a warrior, a man who's been through hell and is ready to rise. Seriously, one of the best promos you'll ever hear. Legendary stuff."

[10.0] "This promo hit me hard, made me tear up. You can feel the emotion and regret and the remorse for everything Eddie's done wrong in his life, but he sells this match so great. He makes it mean so much, and I'm sure it did mean so much to him. It's heartbreaking. But it's ultimately so inspiring to be chasing that type of redemption for yourself. Kingston is so good at promos, and although I know next to nothing about CHIKARA, this is one of my favorites."

[10.0] "If you can take a fight for the title of an independent promotion and turn it into one of the most important things in the world during a promo, making it drip in emotion and have every word mean something, taking people who never care for independent wrestling and/or never seen a single CHIKARA match in their life and making them enveloped into it, you are simply one of the best of all time."

[10.0] "Eddie Kingston might be the best promo in years, god knows how long. Like, I legit think he's on the level of the likes of Foley on the mic and nearly on the level of Rock, Heyman, Austin, Punk, etc. He meant everything he said here, and this was A great tribute to his longtime friend, late great Larry Sweeney, who in his own right was awesome on the mic."
jamzell00 wrote on 03.06.2022:
[10.0] "Eddie Kingston finally after years of grinding being on the big stage just makes this promo hit even harder. You feel every bit of emotion in his words and delivery and thats why he's one of the best ever. This man will NEVER bullshit you when on the mic. All that shit is real and this promo happening in chikara of all things is insane"

[10.0] "I never rate promos, but this is easily the greatest of all time. Eddie Kingston gives the most heartfelt and sincere performance I've ever seen from a wrestler, inside the ring or out. A tragic story of constant self-doubt, injury, and tragedy has led to this moment, and Eddie Kingston is hell-bent on not letting anybody down. It still gives me chills to this day when he starts to cry. Unbeatable."

You can't help but be captivated and root for Kingston in the match with Mike Quackenbush."
