1025.12.2023Shadow Explosion10.0The greatest technical wrestling rivalry ever, it's not close and not one might come close to such a good and pure in-ring ability. There's not really a match in their series that I despise or find overrated. It's Angle & Benoit, they are simply fantastic with unbelievable chemistry. I could watch their matches over and over again.

1420.08.2023Ruthless Attitude10.0High quality and highly intense matches. The match at the Royal Rumble 2003, but they wrestled multiple great matches like at Unforgiven 2002, Wrestlemania and Backlash 2001, that insane cage match on Raw and many other matches. Any of their matches was fun to watch and you can see from the earliest to the latest matches how much Kurt Angle had evolved his style over time. I'd include their run as a tag team a part of the rivalry as well with the outstanding match at No Mercy 2002 against Mysterio and Edge as well as the excellent 2 out of 3 falls match on Smackdown some time later as well as their part in the excellent 'Smackdown Six' tag team match at Survivor Series. Their tag run didn't last long, but it was compelling viewing with them hating each other. Sadly Benoit's tragedy has left a huge gap in Angle's legacy. Every match they had together told a different story.
1521.05.2023Mizzle Assault Ant7.0These two always had pretty good chemistry, though I think I have never been into them together like some others have.

2205.03.2022arrancar6.02 great wrestlers who, whether due to their own lack of creativity or due to WWE's, were never able to have any truly great matches. It seemed like the perfect match-up, given they were both submission specialists with very intense and aggressive styles, yet Benoit had the 'no fear' and 'killer instinct' mindset while Angle had the 'cowardly and cheap shots' mindset that allowed them both to still be clearly distinguished from each other. They had a number of good matches, the best being their Unforgiven 2002 match (***3/4) and their second best being their far more famous, and in my eyes far more overrated, Royal Rumble 2003 match (***1/2). It was always great fun seeing them trade technical holds or go back and forth with a bunch of big suplexes, and they both always sold very well to maintain that sense of their matches being competitive. The main issue with their matches was that they usually repeated spots hit-for-hit from prior matches, and they would also often go overkill trading finishers (an issue with all of WWE's big matches at the time). It's clear that they had the natural charisma and physical/athletic attributes to have truly great matches if they or their promotion just structured their matches in more logical and creative ways, since I can't think of two other guys so perfectly designed for American-style pro-wrestling, from their characters to their in-ring work. They at least had a handful of great moments, but I can't help but feel that this pairing was a massively dropped ball considering their potential.

3329.08.2016jboyaquar With all due respect, I highly disagree with Mr. 'NastyYaffa, ' in that although professional wrestling comprises all of the attributes that he mentioned, the finest of rivals prove that pro wrestling also possesses between two like-minded competitors an intuitive reciprocity. It's this symbiosis that creates the potential for a magnificent dance, and this was what I thought these two brought to each other, and to each other's matches that made for particularly high-class wrestling drama. I have yet to comment on this website on their big three singles bouts but hope to in the future.

3623.05.2016NastyYaffa1.0I have never really liked their matches against each other, and I don't see that changing. The only one that I wouldn't call bad is the WrestleMania 17 one, and even that is a very forgettable bout between the 2. Their matches were total suplex, submission, lack of psychology & bad selling exhibitions.
