[10.0] "Some of the matches felt unnecessarily long, but overall they really managed to create a rivalry that put ROH on the map."

[9.0] "Really great matches, though for the "rivalry" part of the rivalry, there really isn't a lot to chew on that I've seen. There's the in-ring call out , & the backyard promo from Punk, but that's all I could find. What's there is great, but I wish there was more."

[6.0] "I watched this famous 2004 trilogy of theirs, and all 3 matches were really good, but all I could think of the whole time was: "okay, but when do the GREAT moments and interactions come out? ". There were a few of them sprinkled out across all 3 matches, but none of them were consistent or significant enough to make any of the 3 matches anywhere near great. My main issue with this trilogy is mostly just with Punk, since the dude simply wasn't athletic enough to match Joe or to even meaningfully counter him. His technical work was good but still not great, and nothing else he attempted ever looking truly convincing in contrast to how powerful Joe's attacks were and how intense his character work was. It thus never felt believable that it was Punk -- not Danielson, not Homicide, not Jay Briscoe, and not AJ -- but PUNK of all people who was capable of withstanding Joe's onslaught of an offence for 150 minutes total across 3 matches. There was never anything truly impactful or physical about Punk's own offence, so even though he and Joe had a many really good exchanges and some great spots in their trilogy, that always appeared clearly due to Joe's efforts, since he was the powerful and energetic one that directed everything and made sure both of their attacks looked believable. Punk honestly just looked like he was along with the ride, doing the same competent indy grappling work but otherwise bringing nothing of note to the table (even his babyface-selling never once felt truly fiery or desperate). As such, I can only consider this feud to be 'alright' at best, since they admittedly had 3 really good matches, but the first 2 were 60-minute-draws that never felt like they used all their time in the most entertaining ways possible (oh and the decision to have TWO 60-minute draws in a row was really, really lame), and then their final match never felt like the truly 'epic' conclusion to their so-called "epic" trilogy."
