[7.0] "Going back and watching footage from the 1980s, and here is a yearly review. 1982: Technical wrestling, almost felt like this and Mid-Atlantic were the same company, similar to a Raw & Smackdown. Wrestler of the Year: Tommy Rich. 1983: Unlike WCCW, there are just so many squash matches. All the mid-carders and main eventers just smashing jobbers. In comparison to WCCW, CWA & MSW, the storytelling was lacking, which is a shame considering the tremendous roster of talent. In the summer things improved with the introduction of new talent and putting wrestlers into feuds, and showing those matches on television. Buzz Sawyer awful promo guy, Larry Zabysko and Paul Ellering were excellent talkers. Wrestler of the Year: Larry Zabysko. 1984: The whole face loses and has to leave town, but wears a mask to conceal his identity, was so overdone by the beginning of 1984 (see JYD in MSW, Koko Ware in CWA, Jimmy Valiant in MACW, and Dusty Rhodes in CWF). So when Tommy Rich did it, it was pretty lame. Storytelling really picked up. Ted DiBiase was so good on the mic, and was a tremendous heel champion. The Road Warriors have an angle with King Kong Bundy! I genuinely enjoyed Bundy's work, whether he is working face or heel. The Road Warriors are stiff, but man they are fun to watch annihilate jobbers. Jake Roberts was great on the mic, and made you feel that his storyline was important. Then Black Saturday happened, and boy was there a difference in products, between the cartoonish slow-paced power moves of the WWF, and the Southern rasslin' style of the NWA. After Black Saturday, Ole Anderson continued the promotion as Championship Wrestling From Georgia (CWG), and for about two months we get Gordon Solie commentating on MACW matches. Then it returned to form and we get to see them showcase Brad Armstrong and Tim Horner in a pursuit for the National Tag Team titles held by the Hollywood Blondes. The big baby faces that they pushed were Ronnie Garvin and Tommy Rich. Wrestler of the Year: Jake Roberts."
