110.07.2025Jukeboksi6.0Somehow in 2002 I came across IWS online. Their website had loads of music video highlight packages, one event at a time, edited to perfection because the action looked amazing in them. High-flying, high-impact, loads of hardcore and deathmatch fun, actually funny characters with some promos added, great-looking production for an indy, rabid fanbase always ready to make noise: there was lots to like. Looking at their all-time events it's pretty amazing how lucky all their guys were to rarely if ever get injured. It did help that they didn't run events every single month, so they always had time to heal up after a show, and also good opportunity to leave it all out in the ring when they did have shows. So the 2002-2010 era is what I'm familiar with, and then in 2011 they had their "final show", only to return to action after a couple of years with the owners of Sexxxy Eddy, PCP Manny and Green Phantom still intact but their friends and IWS mainstays in Hardcore Ninjaz, Arsenal, Beef Wellington, Kid Kamikaze, Kenny The Bastard, Takao, Excess, Damien and Viking gone and plenty of the roster now looking new. Admittedly I've only seen a couple shows from the 2013-2025 era, but it's not the same to me at all, not even close. Definitely props for featuring Mike Bailey as the long-reigning champ however, I love that man. Yes, as mentioned in the comments prominently, this is the first promotion where Owens/Zayn could fully express their feud and greatness in 2003, PCO came in at around the same time, and it feels like the whole local crew hit their peaks while gaining opportunities in other promotions too, making for some jubilant and chaos-filled shows. Don't get me wrong, this promotion is still as indyriffic as it gets, with lighttubes the main attraction, so it's not like this is some rare magnificent gem type of stuff. Still, the production value and the camera angles always were better than similar indies, and the action never got outright bad like a lot of similar indies. I don't think I've ever given a 4-star rating or more for an IWS match, so I can't in good conscience give a great rating, but a respectable 6 goes a long way in an endless-feeling sea of indy garbage. The consistency and craziness IWS showed over 25+ years earns more than my respect.

912.04.2023BurningLariat138.0Best promotion in Canada right now, puts on amazing shows and is home to some of my favourite Canadian indie guys. Features a lot of hardcore, so if that's not your thing you may not like it as much. They do however have a wide variety of more technically savvy workers, so don't feel like it's all blood and guts. The fanbase is rabid and behind the promotion 100%, as an anglophone visiting Quebec I didn't feel like I was unwelcome in any way.
1007.02.2023TheOneAndOnlyCactus5.0For a country with a prestigious wrestling history and a lot of legendary talents, isn't it a bit sad that there's no major promotion in Canada anymore? Well anyway, the IWS is mostly known for being the promotion where El Generico and Kevin Steen got their start to their career and feud/story that would span many, many companies for 2 decades now, and for being a promotion that leans very, very, very much on the ultra violence and deathmatches. While that is true, since their start in 1999, they have shown that they got more to offer, as they also possessed crisp, technical workers and high flyers. But yeah if you've decided to watch IWS, you're mostly here for the hardcore. And since I very much dislike hardcore promotions, that takes it down a few points.

1714.08.2016Montreal3169.0I rate IWS 9 out of 10. They have produced talents like Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens, and theyvhave also had Pierre Carl Ouelett, Sabu, Sid, Christian and so many more.
1819.07.2014LS Inc10.0One of the greatest Canadian companies in history. They put on incredible shows and they gave to a lot of great talents, such as El Generico, Sexxxy Eddy and Kevin Steen, the opportunity to have a great showcase. 10 on 10.
