[7.0] "With the WWE-produced ECW reunion show, "One Night Stand, " approaching in 2005, Shane Douglas decided to put together his own reunion, to be held at the old ECW Arena in Philly. "Hardcore Homecoming: An Extreme Reunion" was the result, and taken on its own, it was an excellent reunion show that successfully recaptured the feel of the defunct promotion, showcased some of the ECW talent that didn't get the invite to the WWE-produced event, and, when paired with One Night Stand that same weekend, serves as a fine tribute and closure for fans of ECW. Though "Extreme Reunion" was originally meant to be a one-off event, due to its success a short house show tour was run under the Hardcore Homecoming banner, followed by a second major event at the ECW Arena, "Hardcore Homecoming: November Reign, " later in 2005. By that point, though, the magic was gone - the show was not nearly as strong as the first, and the nostalgia had run its course - and Hardcore Homecoming wrapped up operations shortly thereafter."
