802.07.2022TeamCanadaTwoPointOh6.0A place that produced a lot of great talent, but while they were there, not much. A much better training school than a full-fledged promotion.

1410.11.2020themadsamurai7.0So, I have a soft spot for wrestle 1, it was the second puro I ever saw after new Japan and I kind of watched it from the start with the whole TNA partnership they had for a bit. W1 was never a fantastic promotion but it was always passable IMO. Especially in the final years when they started letting younger guys like Ashino, Doi, Kuma, Kodama and Inaba (etc) put on some great stuff with strong hearts. But I think by that time, the rose was on its last petal already. W1 very much started as mutoh vanity promotion. You can see that in how a bunch of random vets were given long reigns over establish new stars. And let? s not forget the really.... REALLY weird run of the failed Ace KAI. The booking was bad... So much so that he booked it for DDT and is now kicking ass in Dragon Gate. The best way to describe W1 is a missed opportunity to establish a new long term non-Indy puro that we really haven? t seen since companies like DG and DDT. I def recommend checking out some of the stuff from the ? W1 originals? , but imo, honestly it had to go. I? m really glad a lot of the top guys young guys are getting chances in All japan, Noah, Zero1 etc and I hope GLEAT is a good successor. please Mutoh... stay in Noah and away from any new companies.
1525.07.2020zephyr7.0Now that I can rate W1 in hindsight, I feel safe giving it a 7. Some of their middle years were weak but they had some truly great matches during their 7 year lifespan.

2205.10.2018respect-wres10.0WRESTLE-1 has had a phenomenal year in 2018. Last year was the beginning of their resurgence and now the promotion is on fire.
2319.08.2018GeoffSpelledCorrect10.0Wrestle-1 is probably my second favorite promotion behind NJPW. They've had rougher patches in their early stages, but now they are really the most compelling promotion show to show. The production quality on GAORA and YouTube is distinct and somewhere better production than AJPW & Dragon Gate despite being a smaller promotion. Wrestle-1 has a fantastic pool of young wrestlers who they've been giving all the focus to for the last 2 years now. With the invasion of Stronghearts, I am most excited for the autumn of Wrestle-1 more so than many other promotions.

2523.03.2018El Pat Grande8.0Wrestle-1 was the Mutoh show for a while after its inception but ever since Kaz Hayashi took over the booking duties W-1 has become one of the most fun and promising promotions in Japan. Going from a rather obscure promotion to a nationally recognized success which already rivals the popularity of promotions like BJW and Noah. Their two biggest draws at the moment, Ashino and Jiro, are only in their mid 20s. The entire roster top to bottom has a great knowledge of technical wrestling and the vast majority of these guys are under 30. If they keep going like this it wouldn't surprise me if they reach the level of the second tier puro promotions DG, DDT and AJPW in a couple of years.
2616.07.2017HUNTERBC8810.0WRESTLE-1 is not one of the big promotions in Japan, but it isn't one of the smaller ones either. The reason why I am giving it a 10 is because they a international wrestling school and they are smart for that.

3228.01.2016craigoh5.0was promising to start with but has slipped up so badly in recent times, having freelancers hop in and become world champion, jobbing out young talent that should be built up and random heel and face turns for unexplained or nonsensical reasons. although i do see them as a positive for the industry as they give guys that left AJPW a place to work, it still has clear problems that they need to sort out before being seen as a legitimate company with a good product.

3631.10.2015BrentDelivine2.0With all due respect to Keiji Muto, this promotion is one of the worst in Japan. Wrestle-1 became the Keiji Muto show since day one, and pushing talent no one cared about. Their world championship history is a joke. How could a promotion ran by one of the best wrestlers Japan exported to the states have so little vision and absolutely suck at everything? Whatever the answer is, i would not reccomend Wrestle-1 to anyone with a serious love for wrestling, i'd show it to people who want to quit it all together.

3922.12.2014Phenomenal918.0So far off to a great start. I can't wait to see how they continue to grow and expand. The sky's the limit.
4019.10.2014KelticKiller9.0One of the best new wrestling promotions out there and it is rapidly expanding. Their matches are constantly interesting and keep you on the edge of your seat. The people they hire are so talented and they know what the audience wants.
