I loved to use a T-Rex against the Stinger, or a bear wrestled The Giant. xD The graphics were ultra epic back in 1998. Nothing else came close to WCW Nitro for wrestling games back in day. I just still love the rants, roster and funny cheats in this game. The only downside for me is, that this game had no real title matches. Man that would be damn epic. And that the 'secret' Old-School Hulk Hogan only wrestled in entrance attire is weird. But all in all this game was too sweet! I still remember the moves for most wrestlers. For example: Sting*s Scorpion Death Lock was d-pad down, square, X, square; Giant Chokeslam was UP, X, O, O. Or DDP's Diamond Cutter was: UP, X, X, O! Yeah these were day's! xD Classic! |

Man these were the days. I still remember how could find out to make the scorpion death lock and wrote the move combination on a paper. Man these were glory and funny days. Nitro gives me so beautiful memories. We loved this game back in day. And sometimes I still play this, just today with my strategy guide were all the moves are listed. Brutal underrated this game. It was awesome back in day. Especially the authentic Nitro and nWo Music in the menus and not to forgot the epic rants and very good graphics. And this was also the first game to have the most WCW PPV's in it. |

Me, my family and friends played this back in 1998 and 1999 on the original PlayStation 1 and we LOVED IT! I played almost all wrestling-games from WWF/E and WCW, and this is not as bad as most people made it. The controls were different from most games we know today, and I know these button combination led people to frustration. But if you understand this control system, this game was easy and damn fun. I can't believe most people prefer these AKI games to this. No other WCW game had more WCW feeling than this game. And even the graphics were for 1998 very detailed and accurate. For example Hollywood Hogan in game of Nitro looked like his real-counterpart in TV. In the AKI wrestlinggames everyone was blocky, cartoony, ugly and unrealistic. Little details like the rants of the wrestlers, authentic Nitro and nWo music in the main menu made this game unique in this genre And these secret wrestlers in form of a santa, bear or ghost was funny trash back than. I still love these through. One thing that keeps me from 10 points is that there are too few match types and no real title matches. The AKI games on the N64 could do better in that respect. Apart from that, a very underrated masterpiece which very few have ever really understood. WCW and nWo4LIFE! |
| 11 | 06.10.2019 | Der Commander | 10.0 | Was für ein episches Spiel. Dieses Spiel hat mich auch zum Wrestlingfan werden lassen. Heutzutage erscheint mir WCW Nitro sehr unterbewertet. Nitro hatte wirklich damals eine top Präsentation. Vom Menü bis zu den Rants hat alles gestimmt. Im Hauptmenü lief abwechselnd zur WCW Nitro Theme auch mal die NWO Theme (Rockhouse), was sowohl damals als auch heute noch episch ist. Auch die Grafik war gut, die Wrestler hatten sehr gute Modelle, sahen im Gegensatz zu WCW vs. the World schon viel echter aus. Ledglich das wirklich viel zu einfache oder eben doch zu schwierige Gameplay hats ehr zerstört. Konnte man einmal von den Wrestlern die Tastenkombinationen der Moves, war der Sieg kein problem mehr. Und hat man die eben nicht gekonnt, war es sehr schwer. Da konnte man Matches schon innerhalb von einer Minuten gewinnen. Und Moves konnte man auch nicht kontern. Aber die Rants der Wrestler und das große Roster waren schon einmalig. Wenn auch die andere hälfte der Wrestler irgendwelche Fantasiefiguren oder Entwickler des Spiels waren, wie bspw. der Weihnachtsmann. Realistisch betrachtet reichts für ne 10 eigentlich nichts nicht ganz, aber wegen Nostalgie und seines Alters wo Wrestlingspiele noch nicht so ausgereift waren (1998) gibts doch noch 10 Punkte. Außerdem wird in keinem WCW-Wrestlingspiel die nWo und Hollywood Hogan authentischer dargestellt als in WCW Nitro. Allein das Rockhouse abwechseld zur Nitro Theme im Menü läuft rechtfertigt die 10 Punkte. |

Die Wrestler waren auch alle dabei und die rants fande ich auch schon immer sehr lustig. War gleichzeitig auch das erste wrestling spiel was ich je gespielt habe und da war ich noch gar kein wrestling fan. |
