[7.0] "SmackDown vs RAW 2008 felt like an underwhelming follow-up compared to the previous entry. That isn't to say its bad because there are some high points with the game such as GM mode getting an improvement, 24/7 mode being a fun idea, and Hall of Fame mode also being fun! My major gripes with this game are the roster as a lot of wrestlers were cut from the previous entry despite still being employed with WWE and the graphics getting a major downgrade. The fighting styles are an interesting concept, but it heavily undermines the gameplay to a horrible degree. For example to counter Technicians, you need to damage their arms to get them to stop auto-reversing your grapples. Its a neat idea until you realize that every wrestler classed as a technician is the exact same. So every match feels very repetitive. Overall, an underwhelming follow-up to SVR 07 but I've played worse."

Three separate brands (although ECW is basically hard mode as it only had one title) and several interactions to do outside of your show was kind of neat. Apart from GM mode, the CAW suite was solid for its time and the other game modes were fun. This game is solid, if unremarkable apart from GM Mode."

When it comes to game modes Hall of Fame Mode is great and GM Mode is the best game mode of all-time, career mode (24/7) is solid too."

[7.0] "The gameplay felt like a SvR game, which is great. The ECW hardcore matches in this game are absolutely wild, and are one of the biggest pros of this game. It was super fun to just wild out and play as Sandman before giving yourself some brain-damage by smashing your head in with a steel chair to make yourself bleed. The fighting styles were a very good premise, but I found it to be limiting. Limiting grounded attacks to the brawls was certainly a decision. Technical fighting style wrestlers would always reverse quick grapples unless you did enough damage to their arms, which is insanely annoying to deal with. Many of the fighting styles did not give you an advantage at all, compared to the few that were downright overpowered. The biggest issue with this game is the small roster and how it relates to GM Mode. The GM Mode had three brands (ECW was given no love and had barely any PPVS to book) while having a smaller roster. The 24/7 mode had no real story or direction, causing the player to see the same cutscenes every single month. The odd thing about this game is that even with all these flaws, it still found a way to be fun. The matches were very enjoyable to play, and the roster is filled with some good talents, despite how fairly small it is. It's mindboggling how the developers did so much right in this game yet so much wrong at the same time."

They added a Fighting Style mechanic that ended up being extremely limiting on Movesets and Actions. A lot of new animations were added but mixed in with PS1 and earlier PS2 animations made the game look really ugly and inconsistent. The Submission system that was added is the worst and tries to follow that Wii motion control trend where you can wrench the move with the stick (which is a silly idea, the wrestler should just perform the animation while the players enter a minigame which will determine if a Submission should happen). The Running and Springboard Attacks being revamped is the highlight of the game."

Balls Mahoney, Kendrick, Haas, Cody, Deuce/Domino, Funaki, Noble, Wang Yang, JIM DUGGAN, Kevin Thorn, Striker, London, McAllisters, Moore, BENJAMIN, Super Crazy, Murdoch/Cade are some of the guys missing. A missed opportunity. I prefeer this GM Mode and the HoF mode is also good. Season mode is too easy. And the gameplay is the best for me"

[3.0] "This game is quite frustrating to say the least. I had fond memories as a kid, going back and playing for a while, there is so much to hate about this game. I finally had enough after trying to beat Hall of Fame mode and realizing just how bad the game as a whole was. The HOF mode was extremely frustrating especially with most of them needing to be legendary making a few things virtually impossible such as the MITB match for Edge. Another thing that is bad is the roster. It seems pretty good at face value but you realize how small the roster is after playing for a while and passing the same names over and over trying to pick someone. I liked how the roster was accurate to the time including the ECW wrestlers and others like Bobby Lashley, Great Khali, and Umaga to name a few but other than that the roster was bad after a short while and it doesn't help that they are no fun to play as. The offense is very limited for every wrestler and movements are slow and the counters are terrible. Going back to Hall of Fame, most of the fun characters or items you'd actually want to play as like Stone Cold, The Rock, Roddy Piper, Bret Hart, etc or titles have to be unlocked from there, to which you have to grind for hours and hours on 24/7 mode to get money to buy them. 24/7 is fun for maybe the first year then you realize it's just the same thing over and over. I really disliked the whole literal 24/7 aspect with doing things everyday. One thing in particular I hated was It making your superstar injured from fatigue trying to be cheered or booed for trying to stay healthy. A lot of match types were really bad. MITB taking the cake for worst match. To give a positive, I liked the music that played on the menu. I can't even give this a 4/10 because to say it was adequate would be a lie."

The ratings for events were pretty stupid as I always had better matches but was still losing in fan support. Season /24/7 mode was a lot worse than SvR 2007. I think the controls were better for this game than the previous."

This game is also what got me obsessed with wrestling! If I was stranded on an island (that somehow had electricity) and all I had was this great game, i'd be fine for the next 30 years! -CrackheadMcGee, The God of Death and Chaos"

(I played both the Wii and XB360 versions) Mediocre game at best."
