"A Dark day for wrestling. This has became one of the saddest pieces of information to come out of WWE in a while. again talent where severely underutilised by WWE, However its hard to name wrestlers as most if not all on the list where (I've left out the talent yet to make televised appearances. What happens to the wrestlers that were brought in, trained in NXT but again weren't on the main roster, what happens as wrestlers like that, if they want to continue there dream have to fight their way in the independence scene to get to places such as ROH or even IMPACT. I will say that I expect to see a few on the list back with WWE in the coming years, but it is an opportunity for Midcard talent or wrestlers stuck on Main Event or stuck to house shows to get their main event breaks maybe they should have. Maybe Curt Hawkins will get a push in IMPACT or go to japan and reinvigorate himself and show WWE where and what he can do. The real question in all of this is, Is Rusev ALL IN?"
"I just want to post a sad face on this. I hope the wrestlers that were released get picked up by other companies and get a push wherever they end up."
"But guys totally useless like Fandango, Titus O'Neil, Tamina, David Otunga, Jinder Mahal, and Mojo Rawley are still under contract. Congratulations WWE, you know how to use your talents."
"There's a strange out pouring of over the top emotions over these releases. For me it is an exciting decision and could see smaller companies benefit once they are able to do live shows again. Remember, not one of these "superstars" could be considered anything but rich, this is not the same as terminating employment for low wage workers, these are the ones who deserve sympathy. The "worst" thing about all this will be the ridiculous suggestions that AEW will be signing them all up, if more than two end up there it would be a massive surprise. I look forward to seeing a lot of these talented wrestlers actually wrestle in the near future."
"Sigh. They also released MJ Jenkins, and freakin' JD Williams, the one from Wrestle & Flow. That guy was living his entire life dream, and boom, out of nowhere, he's released. I don't entirely blame WWE, because how every business in the world nowadays, they were forced to make changes and cuts. But shit, Ryder, Slater, Rusev, I was wearing a shirt from The OC when I saw that Gallows and Anderson had been released, dammit. Sarah, Maverick. It's sad to see them go, the ones I mention and everyone else. I hope everyone finds success, after all this has passed."
"Okay, so I think the timing behind these releases are pretty disgusting. They are clearly doing this as an effort to save money, and given the pandemic right now, no wrestling shows are really going to take place for a while, leaving all of the workers unemployed. That is awful and I really hope they will be okay without a job for a few months. However, looking at this from a wider view, it's kinda about time that a lot of them were released. With the exceptions of Kurt Angle, Mike Chioda and Lio Rush, these people were rarely used on television and even requested their releases in the past. They will be able to do better things in other companies and they will get back on their feet. I mean, EC3 was a goddamned gold mine when they first brought him in, and yet he did nothing. Dude should go back to Impact or the NWA and thrive. And the Club? Whether they end up in AEW or (more likely) New Japan, they will get back to their glory as a world renowned tag team. I really want them in New Japan because that tag division is so so weak. Curt Hawkins, Drake Maverick, Eric Young, and the Kanellis's were always super underrated, and I hope they will do great things on the indies or back in home promotions like impact or Ring of Honor. As for those I haven't mentioned yet, I don't know. I think a lot of them are great and will thrive in other companies, but it's tough to pin down where home grown stars like Heath Slater and Rowan will end up. As for the trainers and agents and such, the world is their oyster now. I'm sure AEW will take a few of them, and other companies will pick up the scraps. But I really doubt that we've heard the last of many of these wrestlers. I just hope they can get through the quarantine and continue to make the business great. Shame on Vince for cutting them now, the one time when they can't really make money, but I think this is for the best for the wrestling business in the long run."
