Early years of this title were very patchy (few shows, long gaps between defenses, vacancies, etc) but over the years the title has grown and grown into a veritable World Championship and a definitely stand-out in Indie wrestling. Future star Drew Galloway became the inaugural Champ before WWE, BT Gunn and Darkside helped make the title matter in emotional matches before men like Red Lighting and Jack Jester had stronger reigns with more defenses. Drew Galloway winning it at the end of 2014 defied the title as he defended it in USA, England, Germany, Northern Ireland, Denmark and Australia against opponents like Matt Hardy, Doug Williams and local territory's champions, often taking the region's title in double title matches. In addition to ICW events where he's retained against many of ICW's best. Following Galloway's title loss to Grado (in front of 4, 000 fans), the belt became more localised again but Damo defended the title in NYC, Wolfgang in Italy, Trent Seven in WWE and DCT in Ireland. The title has gone through a lot of deserving talents like Jackie Polo/JAXN, Stevie Boy, Gunn and Kez Evans since while new champion Leyton Buzzard has vowed to be a traveling World Champion, already announcing three title matches in three different countries (Scotland, Ireland, Italy) across a three day span in December 2022. Very promising. |
