116.11.20225nicoShuffle5.0I was very happy intially when AEW had the idea for a TV-type championship. It started off pretty well with Cody, Darby & Miro as champs, and then after that it became like a hot potato. At times this title means a great deal and other times it's a complete afterthought, and this is the stage it's currently at, hopefully that will change of course.

514.01.2021AlexLennonPW8.0We all complained when Cody won it for the second time, but in retrospect we have to understand this was needed as they needed the title off Brody. Cody was the ideal first champion to elevate a mid card belt, and elevate it he did with his open challenges, which also served to elevate AEW's unsung talent. I need to see more of Darby Allin as champion to make a fair judgement, so far so good

1324.08.2023benh24.0A few times they've almost stumbled into a great reign for this belt but they manage to shoot themselves in the foot inexplicably. There have been a few bad reigns but otherwise it has been held by some great workers where you'd think it'd be almost impossible to screw up. The past year especially with either Wardlow or Joe or Hobbs or Darby, I was ready to enjoy any of those as champion but again the booking managed to annul all of them which is a feat in itself. I'm not a big lover of Luchasaurus but Christian is doing good work at the moment and the belt definitely feels on the way up again.
1412.11.2022benny5bellys5.0A title that really doesn't mean that much. They built it well during the covid era but downhill since then. They have at least got away from calling Brodie Lee the greatest TNT champion ever which felt disingenuous for a whole host of reasons. It really died on its arse during the Sammy era. If you want to know how healthy the belt is, just look at who the current holder has faced during defences, as I type this the holder is Wardlow and he has basically only faced very low card guys.

1629.01.2024BillyBobJoe37.0This titles has some of the highest of highs (Cody, Darby, and Brodie) and some of the lowest lows (Sammy, Scorpio, Will Hobbs). Right now we are in an era for the TNT championship where it feels like one of the top prizes due to Christain Cage and maybe by the end of the year I bump this up to a 8 to 10.

2723.11.2021Burtch99379.0For a secondary title this belt is by far the most prestigious title for secondary titles the booking for this title has been beautiful.
2807.03.2024butthead420697.0Up through Miro's run I would have easily given this an 8 at least, but ever since Sammy's run it's lost a lot of its prestige. I feel for Scorpio since he clearly wanted to have a more serious, competitive run with the title but with Guevara inserting himself into the scene despite dropping it twice it's turned into somewhat of a joke. Hopefully Sky can have a solid rest of his run until Wardlow inevitably takes and elevates the belt. UPDATE 4/3/23: Despite Wardlow taking the belt things have not gotten much better. Aside from Darby's excellent short run as an attempt to somewhat reboot the title, everything has felt anywhere from forgettable to shockingly poor, due in no part to the champions themselves. Guys like Joe and Wardlow should have been able to bring a sense of prestige back to the strap, yet it just felt like they were set up in a series of unexciting mid-card matches with one or two exceptions. Giving Wardlow a second run with the belt only to have him drop it 3 days later was also an unbelievably strange decision, although Hobbs is an excellent choice for champion and it can hopefully allow for Wardlow's eventual grudge match with him to make the title feel like it matters again. For now though, I'm dropping this from a 7 to a 5. UPDATE 3/7/24: Despite them dropping the ball HARD with Will Hobbs and Wardlow again, Christian has single-handedly washed the mud off the title with his impressive promo skills (to the point of getting a phrase like "Your father is dead" over), ability to carry himself simultaneously as a legitimately big deal and the single most punchable member of the AEW roster, and ring skills to back it all up. Matches like his fight with Darby at WrestleDream make the TNT look like something worth fighting over again, a far cry from how it was at this time last year. Hopefully it continues to

3024.07.2023Cakeboyo3.0This title isn't what it use to be. The TNT championship seems to be more cursed than anything as this was seen as a second world title at one point, but not it seems that it has a status of complete and utter low mid card territory which is a shame. The title itself is gorgeous depending on who is customizing it at the time, but the normal first design was pretty pathetic, and the controversial way CODY won the belt is still kinda there. And with it's currently hot potatoing storylines, I don't see this title becoming relevant for a while. For now, it gets a 3.
3108.01.2024Cal16416.0Its crazy how much this title has fallen off since Miro lost it. Back when this belt was first introduced Codys open challenge and his feud with Brodie did alot to elevate this belt and this was continued by Darby Allin and Miro who both had very solid reigns. Ever since Sammy Guevara started playing hot potato with this belt its felt basically insignificant. - this belt is still basically a hot potato but we at least got a successful PPV title defence. This belt feels very similar to its TBS counterpart in its lack of importance. Christian carrying this round as an accessory has helped it get a slight edge over the TBS version but if Luchasaurus keeps defending it instead then maybe this will get a lower score. I'm glad Christian seems to actually care about this title, but its still had some questionable moments, overall better than when I last reviewed though.

3301.01.2024ChainsawJedis7.0The earliest reigns of this belt have taken on a sort of legendary status that can't be replicated in today's more expansive AEW landscape. It is hard to remember, or perhaps for newer fans to grasp, how small and focused many of the company's early storylines felt, and how big the introduction of a second men's belt was. Today one will see upwards of 15 men's singles belts from one company or another appear on AEW television, so it is hard to overstate what a big deal its introduction into AEW was. This leads me to believe the hallowed ground of Cody's first reigns to Miro's reign has come to occupy in fans' minds will never be replicated. I can't see the belt getting that feeling back. Cody's initial championship win and eventual loss to Darby displayed AEW's interest in classic, simple pro wrestling storytelling (at the time). Everyone knew from their first match Darby would defeat one day Cody, and he did. That it was for the company's "mid-card" belt was of secondary concern, elevating it in the process. The downturn in the belt's quality came during Sammy Guevara's confused booking of early 2022, where he was pushed into some truly terrible storylines and was ill-suited to any of the roles he was booked in. He and Cody flip-flopping the belt around this time (including Sammy winning the company's first interim belt just to promote the first Battle of the Belts) would be the start of a bad trend for AEW. At the time there were very few multi-time champions and you could pretty much trace every reign of every belt without having to think too hard. While this was of course destined to fade with time, this would be a harbinger of the decline of the belt and the company as a whole. Sammy's initial win versus Miro and his ladder match with Cody were probably the last true great moments of the belt's classic era; Once the belt made its way to Scorpio Sky its true decline really began. To attempt to be respectful of the performer, he just didn't meet the standard of the champions who came before him in reality or the fiction, and the prestige of the belt has suffered ever since. The belt was inexplicably flip-flopped around this time again to give Sammy a hometown championship win. Wardlow's first reign of the belt was promising at the start, as he was being pushed as a top star and felt as if he was at the level of the pre-Sammy/Scorpio champions. This reign was the biggest disaster point for the Wardlow character, as he faced absolute nobodies for an extended period in the summer of 2022, often just did not appear on screen, and never had any kind of extended storyline with heft or direction. His first defense against Orange Cassidy was a success, but from his second defense on August 5th, 2022 to his last successful one a little over two months later, he defeated in forgettable fashion a murderer's row composed of Jay Lethal, Ryan Nemeth, Tony Nese, Brian Cage, Matt Taven, and Ari Daivari. This absolutely cooled him off ice cold coming off the MJF match at DON 2022. They seemed to be course-correcting ahead of Full Gear 2022 and scheduled Wardlow vs Powerhouse Hobbs for the event. Samoa Joe's introduction to and winning of this match is one of AEW's low-key biggest mistakes in a time they were already reeling in from Brawl Out. Joe winning seemed to be a cop-out to not have to book a winner between the two younger big men. Joe's subsequent TNT runs would establish his King of Television gimmick and revitalize his career throughout 2023, enough so that he was recently able to capture the AEW World Championship. Despite this, I still feel Wardlow's initial reign could have went longer, or he could have simply lost to Hobbs clean and moved on to the main event scene. Early 2023 would bring a slight revitalization of the quality of the belt. The Joe-Darby feud at the beginning of the year produced some of my favorite moments for the belt, including Darby winning it in his hometown and losing it back in one of my favorite matches of the year. This was an example of hot-potatoing done right. Wardlow winning the belt back from Joe felt right even if his shift in character around this time was odd and ultimately short-lived, as his title reign would be. Hobbs would win the belt on the next Dynamite in a semi-hometown victory, but in one of the most inexplicable decisions in company history by having him do so with the help of QT Marshall of all people. Still the company could not book a clean winner between these two. Hobbs' reign was nothing to write home about as he defeated the Lucha Bros in singles on Rampage and quickly dropped the belt back to Wardlow in April 2023 in a wacky arena-wide Attitude-Era-esque street fight. I found this very entertaining and was encouraged by Wardlow getting another chance with the belt, but it was clear at this point the TNT title had strayed far away from its original vision as a world-title adjacent championship, and was instead an outlet for the company's more sports entertainment fair. This would be reinforced by events later in the year. Also at this time, Orange Cassidy was having his legendary first reign as International Champion, establishing it as the workhorse championship of the company. Wardlow's third reign was probably his best, but he lost the belt too early to Luchasaurus on what seemed like an excuse to have a title change on the debut episode of Collision. This would set off the current arc of the belt under Christian Cage, who reigned as defacto champion in Luchasaurus' stead. If you count those 98 days along with Christians's two official reigns as of today he is tied with Wardlow at 198 days for second in the title's history. Christian's all-timer main event defense against Darby at Wrestledream was a modern hallmark for the belt's history. His subsequent feud with Adam Copeland and the latter winning the belt, even briefly, this past weekend at Worlds End, will add to the TNT championship's overall prestige going forward.

3503.10.2023charliefiction8.0Although its prominence in the company as the most coveted secondary title in the singles division is challenged by the International Championship (largely due to Orange Cassidy's incredible run), this is still a title that's held only by wrestlers that the company trusts to deliver solid in-ring performances on a near-weekly basis. It seems to now have found a home on Collision (and TNT again), which should only help lend credibility to its purpose. The Darby/Christian/Luchasaurus feud has elevated this belt to such heights that it remarkably headlined a PPV, and even over-delivered.
3605.02.2023Childofthelost3.0Once upon a time this title was an eight, and how it has fallen. This has to be the worst booked title belt in professional wrestling today. There have been just 8 champions out of 15 reigns, the belt nonstop bounces back and forth to the same people for the same reigns and it is just boring, bland bad booking. Tony Khan once said this title was on par with and as important as the AEW World Championship and if it was then, now it's on the level of the FTW.

3821.04.2023cibar123.0Realy dislike that title. Tossed around like hot potato. And it was holded by a lot of wrestlers that i dont like. Chenge hands at most random moments, killing all wrestlers momentum. I would give it a litle credit for some cool tv matches that happened for it.

4229.06.2023coppercowries6.0Darby's short second run with the belt was the last time it really felt like it was competitive, and had heat on it. Hobbs could've done wonders for this belt had he won it in a convincing manner and then been given a proper monster run. Instead he dropped it needlessly back to Wardlow, who needs to be kept away from this belt for the foreseeable future. Christian is entertaining as the "champion", but him and Luchasauras gotta have an actual engaging story to make me care again. If the dino drops the belt too quickly, this title is officially dead and buried.

4409.03.2024crs2858.0Think this is one of the better titles with great runs by Rhodes, Lee, Miro and Cage. Early on this belt was a great title outside of the main event scene. It lost its value for a while but the reign of Christian Cage has redeemed the belt.
4527.12.2023CSTLW6.0There was a point in time where the TNT championship was used as the workhorse title, the popularity title, all of the wrestlers who weren't at the top got a chance at the title. That was the Cody/Darby/Sammy era. Ever since then, it has been used more as a decoration for someone to get an unnatural push.

5002.12.2021DCJ20037.0Cody had an awesome first reign. Then Brodie made it better. Darby's reign was decent. After that, the title had a downfall. Miros reign was lazy and now Guevara has the same fate. Title looks like something irrelevant, there were like 2-3 feuds for the title in this year (miro-archer, miro-guevara)
5120.04.2023DEDE3.0Seit Darby Allins erster Regentschaft ging es mit dem TNT Title stetig bergab. Mittlerweile nur noch eine heiße Kartoffel die ich als Fan absolut nicht mehr ernst nehmen kann. Keine Ahnung was TK sich dabei denkt, echt schade.

5426.11.2020DespicableMe9.0The actually finished title looks great. I'm not going to complain about the bland TNT logo in the middle because that title is named after it. Also Cody's open challenge has been great. Not just because Ricky and Eddie got jobs but it has also furthered Cody's story. Edit :- Finally the ratings are open. This title has been treated with significance and I'm glad about it. Now Darby is the champion and we seem to be moving towards some fine stuff with the title.
5514.01.2024djones067.0Started off as the workhorse TV title, which was a fine identity. Good reigns from Cody, Brodie, and Darby. But the belt started losing prestige quickly after Darby's first reign amongst an endless stream of bad booking decisions, many of which revolved around either Sammy or Wardlow. The only bright spot before Christian taking the belt was Darby's second short, but very intense reign. Christian has worked hard to build this belt back up and center around stories.
5615.10.2023Dogo7639.0Christian Cage has elevated this title to fantastic new heights, this title went from being hotpotatoed about to becoming a top prize in AEW. It's amazing that this title main evented a PPV, it has been firmly reestablished. The match with Bryan Danielson last night illustrated the importance of the title even further, freaking Danielson competed for the TNT title!

6113.04.2023eltetechori5.0The path of this title has been badly handled during all this time, especially from the beginning of 2022 and it seems that the thing does not improve, they could have done great things but it seems that the TV network limits them.
6210.03.2023envi6.0The AEW TNT Championship is a tough one to rank. The reigns in the beginning are some of the best in the title's history, whereas as of late, the title's prestige has definitely been diminished. 3 months into 2023 and we've already seen 4 different wrestlers hold this championship, 3 this week alone. Not to mention, the 17 total reigns have been split amongst 9 people and with the exception of 3 wrestlers, every other wrestler has held the TNT title 2+ times. Most of these reigns have been pointless and simply for stats, Wardlow's 3 day reign being the most prevalent example. For every 140 day Miro reign, you're gonna have a 12 day Sammy reign but the amount of short reigns feels overkill and its hard to take this title seriously. Now, Hobbs is the well deserved champion so I'm hoping for a long, dominating reign for the man. That's exactly what's needed to bring back prestige to this championship.

7304.09.2023GoldLiger6.0When I first got back into wrestling, this title only had five reigns to its name. From what Miro was doing at the time to what had come before with Cody using himself to legitimize it, Darby's long workhorse run with it, and the excellent Dog Collar match involving Brodie, this was a well-established title that didn't feel too far below the World Championship. Then, Sammy won it. To be fair it took until a few weeks into his reign for it to start falling off, but Cody's third reign on was just nonstop bullshit for over a year, with only the occasional good defense. Wardlow wasn't treated right with it, Hobbs wasn't treated right with it, Darby's 2nd reign felt like an afterthought, and Joe's brief stints were good but it was just an extension of his King of TV ROH angle so he could do it on Dynamite. Christian's angle is making the title relevant again by taking his monster's credit and carrying the belt around but in all honesty it's the best reign since Miro entirely on the back of Christian's promos. With PAC & OC workhorsing the International Title for the past year into something prestigious and multiple over factions holding the Tag & Trios titles the past year, the TNT Title is currently the 5th-most important AEW Men's Title, and to be honest before Christian & Luchasaurus I would've put it under both women's titles too, but now it's about on par with Stat's solid reign and better than Saraya by default.
7422.01.2022GriffinX10.0To an extent this has become the "Workrate" belt in AEW. Cody having the opening challenge to show case different talent even those that weren't signed. The high level Darby held it. The success of Miro and Sammy's strong series of matches for it. Of course extra points due to the great feud Cody and Brodie Lee had over it

It's also feels like this title needed a new third time champion because Cody left for WWE, all these things leads to a normal midcard title.

8309.03.2023InstantClassic123.0Sadly a series unforeseen circumstances, like Cody leaving and various bad booking decisions, for example keeping Sammy around this title for way too long, when he is clearly not up to par, have plummeted the value of this belt. It went from being seriously legit with the first three owners to the most unwatchable part of the show. A pity, Scorpio's second reign is already starting on the wrong foot, let's hope they can turn it around someway.
8404.10.2023jace7838.0
8502.10.2023JaybirdJared5.0At first I did not like the idea of a TV title because AEW was about a sports-like presentation, rankings, and vying for a single title in each gender class. Cody winning the inaugural title after vowing to never again contend for the AEW World Championship was cheeky, but in hindsight, he worked hard and made it worthwhile. The title was a 9/10 for the reigns from Cody through Miro. The open challenge was great because it circumvented the rankings in a logical way and introduced us to eventual mainstays Eddie Kingston and Ricky Starks. Minor deductions for the ugly design at unveiling. Since then, not only has it been a hot potato, but the TNT Championship, a.k.a. the de facto TV title, has been supplanted by the All Atlantic or International Title as the workhorse championship and, oh yeah, the one defended on TV more routinely. It is further muddled by the myriad ROH, NJPW, tag team, trios, and garbage FTW championship. They need a clear direction, dedicated TV schedule, multiple contenders, etc. to restore prestige. The TNT Champion should defeat a main-eventer. Orange Cassidy or Claudio should vie for the TNT Championship after losing their titles. Then it might mean something again.

9729.08.2023Leth995.0It started bad with Cody, it went amazing with the Brodie-Cody feud, Darby was okay, Miro was amazing, Sammy was boring, the Cody-Sammy-Scorpio-Wardlow-Joe were horrible reigns with no reason OR they weren't used good. It was a 9 when Miro lost the title, now it's just a 5. A thing that I don't care about. Lowering the title by 1 point because of Wardlow just lasting 3 days with the title. Christian Cage is a great champion, so my 5 is back

9909.03.2023LivingLegend0.0This is the worst booked championship in AEW and televised wrestling in general. In the past year (to the day actually), we have had 9 title changes. That is embarrassing. What once was a good workers title has become a complete joke. The title changes hands once a month, sometimes not even. The title defenses have no storylines attached to them unless there's a PPV coming up, which happens about 4 times a year. Miro was the last champion who actually had multiple storylines during his reign and didn't just defend it for no reason every other week. Hopefully Hobbs gets a good reign but I imagine he'll be dropping it to Ricky Starks at the next PPV and then vanishing to Dark again. Terrible.
