FTR and the Young Bucks are literally the biggest part of these division and it has sadly never been close. These tag championships also have the best story in AEW so far with the Kenny/Adam Page/Young Bucks story that has never been topped since. These championships goes through the a couple teams and always come back around to FTR/Young Bucks. Brodido has been a nice highlight for these championships but these tag championships haven't had a stellar history nor stellar anything outside FTR/Young Bucks which is almost disappointing to say. |

Be that as it may, AEW's World Tag Team titles are the most prestigious of its team/multi-person titles and is one of the more desirable tag team titles in the industry today. |

The tag team division used to be so stacked with teams like SCU, Lucha Bros, PNP, Young Bucks, reDragon, Acclaimed, Best Friends, FTR and so many others and now there is maybe 2-3 tag teams that are active in the tag team division going for the titles. Hurt Syndicate don't have any big name tag teams to go against and are basically have one off matches to get by. Very disappointing how the tag team division has came to. |

Though we've had some dud reigns and champions, the work that FTR, The Elite, The Lucha Bros, and currently The Hurt Syndicate have all done puts these belts in the upper echelon of tag team titles. They are easily the most-important tag belts in the 21st century, and I'd go as far to say they're probably top-3 all-time in terms of tag team championship prestige. There is certainly room for improvement, but with tag team wrestling being wildly inconsistent across the entire planet for over 40 years, it's refreshing to see these titles treated so well. Thank God for teams like the Young Bucks and FTR actually valuing this branch of the artform. |

The division now feels like an afterthought and needs to step up to regain its former momentum. While the talent is there, the vision is lacking, and without a focused direction, the titles may continue to lose their prestige. A stronger, consistent push could restore the division to what it once was. |

As of this writing current champions Matt and Nick Jackson have not defended the titles at all since winning them three months ago. Even before this, there have been some really questionable title holders and reigns. There is a really talented tag team division who aren't really doing anything and looking foolish not challenging for the belts. Just a sad state right now that can hopefully be corrected sooner rather than later. |

Even in weak runs like FTR's latest run there are still and handful of really special matches. It's the title that represents what I believe is the greatest tag team division in wrestling's history. I have enjoyed most of what they've done so far, but they've lacked good storylines. |

Swerve/Lee had some good matches and a nice underlying tension throughout most of their reign, and the Acclaimed came into their title reign red hot. But the Gunns winning was a real head scratcher until you realized they were just transitional champions for FTR. FTR's second reign had some great matches, but they were isolated from most of the division. Big Bill and Starks epitomize the problem with the division currently: two dudes thrown together for something to do instead of top tier tag teams battling it out for the belts. |
