NEVER Openweight Six Man Tag Team Championship

[6.0] "The NEVER Openweight Six Man Tag Team Championship is a secondary tag title for New Japan and can be used to either help elevate wrestlers or give older (or underutilized) wrestlers something to do. The title has had some periods of inactivity, but has also successfully helped indicate the "in" faction for the promotion (such as Los Ingobernables, CHAOS, and, more recently, House of Torture.) its perhaps New Japan's least-prestigious main roster title, but it isn't one that lacks value, either."

[6.0] "A promising title that doesn't have the value it used to have. The last good title reign was Goto/Ishii/YOSHI-HASHI's, which made it one of the highlights of the pandemic era NJPW (and their title reign ended 3 years ago already). Nowadays, any thrown together team can win it, and unfortunately, anyone that holds it or challenges for it normally are wrestlers that NJPW is trying to constantly use to stay on the spotlight like EVIL, or to someone that the fans long for a title reign just to be a short one like Minoru Suzuki. Nothing compared to the singles belt, that became synonimous with violence and brutality."

[5.0] "A belt that is more about giving the large stables something to do with members who are not in feuds. Normally has good matches and good champions but never feels really special."

[1.0] "Totally pointless title. Nobody cares about whos holding it. It is just a think to toss between stables during road to's. I don't remember single time that i was hyped and exited about six man title bound."

[0.0] "You know, I would've thought these belts would've been defended every show because there's always a six man tag and there's a bunch of factions, but no, nobody in the booking committee gives a damn about these belts and they're just there to exist sometimes."

[7.0] "The NEVER 6 Man Championship never meant much until CHAOS' almost 450 day reign made them mean everything. It's a shame their reign ended how it did to who it did... I hope House Of Torture don't torture this poor title back into obscurity."

[8.0] "Maybe not the best trio belts, but for NJPW are ok. Ishii, Goto and Hashi they have shown that they are worthy of these belts, but at some point they will be dethroned"

[9.0] "Yoshi Hashi, Ishii, and Goto have elevated these NEVER 6 Man titles to levels never previously considered remotely likely. Numerous tremendous title defences, these titles are no longer an undercard afterthought, and capable of headlining non-major shows, while being a prominent part of major shows."

[9.0] "Goto, Yoshi-Hashi and Ishii have elevated these belts to be one of the most prestigious belts in wrestling and every single title defence has been great, and with a very good story behind it, especially the ones against Suzuki-gun. As an example of how good they are, they got a pretty good match out of Evil, Yujiro and Togo. Their title reign has made every defence of this belt must match and for that it gets a 9. Here's hoping this booking and match quality is permanent for the division and it doesn't return to the mediocrity it had when the belts were hot potatoed between random trios for no real reason."

[7.0] "Belts that exist for reasons unknown. Strangely I actually LOVE 6 man tag matches... but not 6 man titles (try working that one out. ) That said, these probably are one of the best and most valuable of 6 man belts In existence. Often gets exchanged a little too often, but the stable war conflicts that these were fought for as a prize makes this worthwhile to me."

[10.0] "The title reign by CHAOS now is one of the best in NJPW all. So this titles have a big growning this past year. HASHI/Goto and Ishii are always delivering very good or great matches and the prestige of the belts increased a lot. None of the NJPW titles, in this period, is shining as this three (if not for previous prestige, of course)."

[10.0] "I like the direction in which these titles are moving. They are taken seriously and they are not "hot potatoes" My assessment, to some extent, is given for the future, but I think these titles will be fine!"

[7.0] "When looking at what improvements New Japan had in 2020 their handling of the 6-man titles must be considered as a shocker to most fans who've followed the title since its introduction. Almost immediately hot potatoed between a series of teams and treated as an afterthought for most of its existence from both the fans and the company, some of the decisions made this previous year point to some optimistic feelings regarding the title. The beginning of 2020 saw the title defended in its usual manner with a Tokyo Dome gauntlet match and a random trio taking on the champions in February, however that month also had a great title match with a CHAOS trio which would become a recurring theme for the title. Goto, Ishii, and YOSHI-HASHI have been the work rate champions the titles desperately needed to make people care about the titles and to put some juice into some of the Korakuen Halll shows in the second half of the year. With no plans to do the regular gauntlet match at the Dome which has consistently seen a title change, time will tell whether or not that's a sign of stability for the champions or the titles once again fading away as an afterthought."

[8.0] "Ive always liked the idea of a six man championship and for new japan a company that uses a lot of multi competitor marches it fits well. Its not the most prestigious, but it is respected and it gives talented performers something to do."

[7.0] "2020 is so weird. The fact I am giving the NEVER 6 Man Titles more than a 4 is shocking. Goto, Ishii, and HASHI have made these titles actually desirable. I hope they hold the belts for a year. Great stuff. Also respect to the LIJ all caps trio. They did a great job with these titles too. It went into a drought throughout 2018-2020, but like I said, CHAOS are doing great. Long may this continue."

[1.0] "The NEVER trios titles exist just so they can be unsuccessfully defended on the undercard of whatever show needs another title match. There are three types of teams that win this title: a random assortment of lower card and/or comedy wrestlers and real stables that get the titles just so they can have title belts. Just overall really weak championship and kind of a stain on a promotion with otherwise very prestigious titles."

[4.0] "This championship would make some sense if it weren't booked at random. In fact booking it at random, by having Mio Abe or some good-looking joshi wrestler pick the names of team members blindfolded from a hat, would make a whole lot more sense than how it has been booked so far."

[7.0] "I like the NEVER Six-Man Titles. Seriously. I know it will not elevate anyone to main event position but it have its value. EVIL, SANADA and BUSHI elevate the belt in 2017 and, in 2018, is more solid than ever. The only problem is the random teams that challenge for that, but, thank God, they don't win anymore."

[8.0] "This is actually a pretty good championship, you know? This makes sure that some people like Ryusuke Taguchi, Toru Yano and some veteran can be on the card of their shows and have some mini-feuds. The matches aren't nothing great, but nothing terrible too. It is more a comedy championship than a serious one."

[5.0] "Useless belts but this year they seem to try to make them a little more relevant. But before that they were just trash belts so it's not saying much."

[5.0] "These titles are not meant to be prestigious, they were only introduced to make those random 3 on 3 matches more interesting so I guess they do that. They change so often I never know who the champions are."

[9.0] "Whilst these NEVER 6 Man title's change hands frequently & aren't taken as seriously. Can't be denied how good the matches these title provide, escpecially recently under the Taguchi Japan/LIJ Era (not so much the Briscoes/Fale & Takahahsi) but now I always look forward to these matches."

[7.0] "The frequent title changes are a little ridiculous but at least it lends an element of unpredictability to it. Lots of great names have held these titles, though the reigns themselves have never been terribly good. Not a big fan of the Briscoes as champions, they're talented but I don't think their outspoken bigotry should be rewarded by any promotion in any region. NJPW in general has odd title booking, short reigns or limited defenses, these titles just appear to be a little more extreme than the others."

[4.0] "These titles seem to exist to just be handed around to people to give them title history, and while that can lead to a lot of fun team ups and matches, these belts feel worthless due to how often they change hands."

[7.0] "So much of NJPW's booking involves faction rivalry- it's good that these belts exist to make some of those njpw tag matches more meaningful"

[4.0] "Last year I thought that it was too soon to rate this championship, having only been active for two months, but I still raised concerns over the hot-potato title changes. Now that it has been a year since it began, my concerns are still an issue that devalues the belt. There have only been two teams that could've brought legitimacy to them with long successful title defences. The Elite would've been fine champions, but were not given long reigns with the belts. L. I. G just won the belt, only to lose it the next day! NJPW needs to rethink how to display their newest championship, it is a good concept but has failed in it's debut year."

[4.0] "Solid teams have held the title but titles changes happen so often it renders the title a bit pointless. LIJ just won the titles at wrestle kingdom and already lost them the next day. Maybe with longer title runs this title can be taken more seriously."

[7.0] "The titles themselves are nothing but a catalyst for future feuds (Omega/Tana, RicoSydal/Bucks, Kojima/Cole possibly) and to quickly send someone up the card by giving them a big win (Tama Tonga). You could argue that they don't need a title for that, but it's been surprisingly effective so far I can't question their existence anymore. Another surprising thing is how good the matches have been. It seemed at first these belts were a lazy attempt for New Japan to justify and double down on filler tag matches, but the performers took the belts more seriously than the audience and have worked their asses off to get the titles and the matches over, and it's been a joy to watch these matches all year. Last thing I'll say is these titles are the only way you can get a strange but serious pairing like Kojima and Sons and find out how awesome they are together. Some FPW-level matching but they exhibit strangely awesome chemistry."

[4.0] "This title is literally just a crutch for NJPW's constant 6-man tag booking. Pretty much doesn't mean much unless like it's in a feud with The Elite or something."

[4.0] "Kind of a pointless championship, though the matches typically are entertaining, featuring some pretty good performers. But I still think that if everyone's a champion, no one's a champion."

[10.0] "Really fun belt. Its not much of a draw but its became a great feature of njpw shows. Those meaningless six mans at least got some focus. Matches are constantly entertaining and combinations are interesting."

[10.0] "i think this championship is perfect for njpw. They always have meaningless six man tag matches, but now those wins and matches have a point. Plus it gives Jrs a chance to wrestle with heavys and guys like Tama Tonga a championship apart of a team. It's a great belt that's still young so let's see where it goes."

[7.0] "I absolutely don't mind the frequent title changes. I'm guessing they are something to just get a bit more excited about, not are titles have to be about honour and prestige IMO"
