[5.0] "Take the good with the bad. They changed wrestling... and then killed wrestling. The most influential heel turn in history and countless of the most disappointing matches ever. A representation of everything great and horrible about WCW. Some will give the nWo a 10 simply for how iconic and influential it was, but factions aren't just that. The nWo gave fans some of the worst PPVs ever produced, countless horrible matches, dozens of terrible storylines, etc. Even by mid 97 when the group was at its peak in popularity, it had ballooned in membership to the point it stopped feeling important. It built up Lex, Sting, and Goldberg, but two of those guys were already main eventers and ultimately, the nWo harmed all 3 men way more than it elevated them. Hogan's ego and WCW's messy nature led to the whole thing running wild with no real end point. If Sting had beaten Hogan clean at Starcade and the nWo faded away, it would be an easy 10. It didn't tho, it just kept on going and going and going. Those few all-time great moments are weighed down by 95% of the nWo's run being shit."

At least part of the problem is that everyone at some point was in it. I grew up and watched in this era and I genuinely don't ever remember Wallstreet being in it? The hell?"

[8.0] "{8} Legendary stable that was WCW's greatest success and in same time, WCW's biggest failure. I'd give it a higher rating if the story ended in 1998, without all new incarnations of nWo that came later. They were incredible as ultimate villains in WCW through '96 and '97, but the things went downhill after '97 Starrcade. Wolfpac vs Hollywood era was fun, but it made whole company revolve around it, which led WCW into wrong direction and ultimate downfall. Their WWE run had potential, but injuries and other negative factors closed doors to their run. I always had feeling that their story never got true ending, it should have ended with Hogan and Nash having actual match, not Fingerpoke of Doom crap. Their infleunce can't be denied, their merchandise is popular to this day and they inspired many factions in the future. So many legendary wrestlers were part of nWo, in one way or another. They were cool, they were something unseen on wrestling television before, and they also forced WWF to step up and start what is now called Attitude Era"

If they weren't all in your face and everything it would've been a lot more nicer."

[10.0] "One of the best things to happen to professional wrestling. nWo really, really changed the entire world of professional wrestling, without it, who knows what it would look like. At the beginning, it was incredible. First time we really got to see a heel Hogan since his huge push in the 80s, Kevin Nash & Scott Hall were just the coolest guys around. Perfect combination, and they really made professional wrestling cool again. I must admit, the stable got pretty damn tired after a little while. They just couldn't seem to let it die, much like Bullet Club of the modern era, they seem to hold onto the name rather than just letting the faction die out. Another issue with the nWo was that, it was just full of egomaniacs. Whilst short term it was great, long term it was just never going to work out given all those egos involved. Overall, they can be looked at as a huge positive impact on the world of professional wrestling, but also a cautionary tale."

[6.0] "Gold dust for 18 months and then endemic of everything that ruined WCW. The concept and introduction of the NWO was fantastic and the storyline with crow Sting was amazing character work and tension. In the end the NWO meant lots of bullshit finishes and long Hogan promos but gave use Bash at the Beach 96 and the Luger and Goldberg title wins and the crow sting. The NWO also lost its direction, at first it was about ex-WWF wrestlers taking over for the man up North but this never really went anywhere because well... it couldn't. The NWO kicked of a renaissance in pro wrestling in North America but also helped kill a company."

The biggest difference is that the nWo was always cool and DX were annoying dorks. As the years went on the group was watered down and had a lot of member turnover. However, they ushered in arguably the biggest boom period ever. A total of 10 million people were watching both shows which is insane!"

[10.0] "It truly is a tale of two parts when it comes to the nWo. There was a good year or two where it was one of the best stables in the entire business, both in storyline, and how revolutionary it was to the wrestling industry. Then, there came the era of it becoming this big bloated mess, which is unfortunately something that is bound to happen to many stables, both good and bad. Even before Hollywood and Wolfpac, nWo was showing signs of a stable on the verge of death, but either Eric Bischoff, the main people behind nWo, or WCW themselves kept seeing money in the well of faction warfare that was already beginning to dry up. There came a point where there were more people in nWo then there were people out of it. The split made sense in a way, but frankly it should've died much earlier than that. Regardless, despite its slow and painful death, it can not be ignored how important this stable was for a variety of reasons. It breathed in new life for WCW, it finally kicked WWF's ass into gear, it is what led to the big boom in professional wrestling in the late '90s, and certainly that wasn't just completely out of luck."

[3.0] "The intrigue in the early days was high. From Scott Hall showing up in May promising a war, to Kevin Nash joining him a couple weeks later to look at the adjective, to the mysterious 3rd man being revealed to be Hulk Hogan, the biggest face of the golden era now gone heel, there was a constant sense of progression. The following months were exciting, with WCW main eventers coming together to take on the nWo, and the uncertainty over who Sting would join. Soon after, the nWo gains some members, they win the titles, and Sting takes on the crow persona, establishing himself as the nWo's biggest enemy. And then... things just went nowhere until the nWo slowly fell apart some years later. It was tedious. For a while, they would come out and just say "We're taking over" again and again, and once they took over, it was just "We took over" again and again. Nitros would feature 2 or 3 segments of the nWo, or just Hogan and Bischoff standing around cutting a repetitive and drawn out promo until the end of the episode when Sting interrupts, and then the show cuts off before we get to see much. In between the promos, some of the members would go around beating people up and screwing with them, and would receive only a short-lived comeuppance if any, making the faces look like losers. Things would always return to the status quo. The whole storyline became aimless after just a few months, with the main source of "progression" being people joining or leaving the group just for the sake of the "twist" rather than for the sake of creating new feuds and dynamics. No matter how many people joined, things felt the same. The vast majority of the members never did anything interesting and were essentially just minions and they didn't have any personality aside from trying to act cool. It just felt like Hogan, Bischoff, The Outsiders, and a bunch of other guys. Hogan's heel turn was crazy of course, but his schtick quickly became tiring. Bischoff became even more annoying especially when he was essentially the number 2 of the group. The Outsiders were cool, but didn't get to be a part of any compelling feuds and just felt like upper tier henchman until the split. Randy Savage was undoubtedly the most entertaining character in the group, but didn't get the focus he deserved. He probably would've been better off as one of the main faces, especially since his heel turn felt utterly nonsensical, though his feud with DDP was one of the few highlights of the Post-Vincent era of the nWo. There also weren't many interesting internal dynamics between the members, which always make stables more exciting to watch and give way to compelling storylines. The most we got was that a couple of them would bicker sometimes and then be fine a few weeks later as if nothing happened. The nWo were holding the show captive both in kayfabe and in real life, and it was just the same thing over and over and over until the whole thing died with a whimper. There was a lot of potential, but it became hard to recognize that in the later days. To me, the group became boring well before Starrcade 97, and they kept getting worse. Without Sting, and to a lesser extent Randy Savage and DDP, the nWo would've been even duller. But just for the overall concept, the excitement in the early days and the cool t-shirts, I'll give them a 4/10. But on second thought, I can barely remember any matches they were involved in that I really enjoyed, so let's stick to a 3."

Bagwell was generic heel but not so terrible. I didn't even remember Bubba as a nWo member. Vincent was just the guy that got beaten up. The Giant was okay but was in a bad shape. DiBiase made sense. Savage was amazing. Elizabeth was...there. Rotunda was there. Nick Patrick was a great heel. Hennig was great. Konnan was there. Jeff Farmer was bad. Steiner was okay. Norton was there. Brutus the F'n barber was bad. Horace and Rodman had no place in there. And Hogan was the greatest miscast in wrestling history. He was there just because everybody hated him"

Watching Hall and Nash invade Nitro was badass. Watching Hulk Hogan turn heel as the 3rd man was fantastic. That's where it ended for me. There were very few actual decent wrestlers to join up. The nWo was primarily older wrestlers far past their prime in need of some way to stay relevant. D-X was always the comparison to be made, but D-X was always far superior in the entertainment department, and far far superior in the in-ring talent department. Degeneration X also did not accept seemingly everybody on the roster at some point. Hulk Hogan was easily the most overrated entity in professional wrestling history. That is all."

If you want to know more details, see the "Legends of Wrestling" stable episode and hear what Ric Flair has to say, he is 1000% correct, the nWo BURIED WCW and i will never forgive those who played their role.
