- Abyss kündigte die Gründung des Stables mehrere Monate lang an, indem er immer wieder darüber sprach, dass "sie" ("they") sich am 10.10.2010 bei Bound For Glory zu erkennen geben würden.
- Hulk Hogan und Eric Bischoff hoben die Gruppierung wenige Tage nach dem PPV bei iMPACT offiziell aus der Taufe und offenbarten gleichzeitig einen Geheimpakt mit Ric Flairs "Fortune"-Stable, welches im Zuge dessen geschlossen Teil von Immortal wurde.
- Matt Morgan verließ die Gruppe bei iMPACT am 28.10.2010, da er für Mr. Anderson Partei ergriff, der nicht mit einer Gehirnerschütterung antreten sollte.
- Douglas Williams folgte dem Beispiel Morgans und verließ am 18.11.2010 die Gruppierung als er Morgan gegen Ric Flair und den Rest von Fortune half.
- Gunner und Murphy wurden in ihrer Rolle als persönliche Sicherheitstruppe für Jeff Jarrett Teil von Immortal.
- Rob Terry trat der Gruppierung am 16.12.2010 bei iMPACT als neuer Bodyguard von Flair bei.
- Matt Hardy wurde unmittelbar nach seinem Debüt bei Genesis 2011 Mitglied.
- Karen Jarrett stieß Mitte Januar 2011 im Rahmen der Fehde zwischen ihrem neuen Ehemann Jeff Jarrett und ihrem Ex Kurt Angle zum Stable hinzu.
- Bei iMPACT #343 turnte Fortune in Form von AJ Styles, Kazarian, Robert Roode und James Storm gegen Immortal. Damit begann eine Fehde der beiden Stables, in deren Verlauf Ric Flair schnell klarstellte, dass er nicht länger Teil von Fortune war, sondern weiterhin mit Immortal zusammenarbeitete.
- Jeff Hardy wurde bei der ersten iMPACT-Ausgabe nach Victory Road 2011 offiziell aus Immortal geworfen und durch Bully Ray ersetzt.
- Bei iMPACT #356 wurden Murphy und Rob Terry ebenfalls aus der Gruppe geworfen.
- Scott Steiner schloß sich Immortal bei IMPACT Wrestling #364 an.
- Bei IMPACT Wrestling #365 trat Mr. Anderson als amtierender World Heavyweight Champion dem Stable bei. Er verlor seinen Titel jedoch eine Woche später und wurde letztlich im Zuge eines Stable-internen Brawls bei IMPACT Wrestling #370 bereits wieder aus der Gruppierung ausgeschlossen.
- Matt Hardys Mitgliedschaft endete de facto mit seiner TNA-Suspendierung im Juni, gefolgt von seiner Entlassung im August 2011.
- Im August gab es aber auch einen Neuzugang, als sich Kurt Angle bei Hardcore Justice 2011 mit Hulk Hogan verbündete, um mit seiner Hilfe Sting den TNA World Heavyweight Title abzunehmen.
- Abyss turnte nach einer Auseinandersetzung mit seinen Partnern bei IMPACT Wrestling #379 gegen Immortal und wurde daraufhin von diesen verprügelt.
- Bei Bound For Glory 2011 besiegte Sting Hulk Hogan in einem Match, was durch eine Sonderklausel zur Rückgabe der Company an Dixie Carter führte. Als Sting nach dem Kampf durch Immortal attackiert wurde, wendete sich Hogan überraschend gegen seine bisherige Gruppierung und rettete den Stinger vor weiterem Schaden.
- Der mittlerweile zu einer Art "General Manager" aufgestiegene Sting feuerte bei IMPACT Wrestling #388 Jeff und Karen Jarrett storylinemässig (aufgrund einer Sonderklausel vom Final Resolution 2011-Match, welches Jeff Jarrett gegen Jeff Hardy verloren hatte). Damit schieden gleichzeitig beide Jarretts aus der Gruppierung aus.
- In den folgenden Wochen und Monaten wurde der Kern der Gruppierung immer kleiner, bis sie schließlich im Frühjahr 2012 sang- und klanglos aufgelöst wurde. Ein genaues Ende dieses Stables ist nicht festzumachen, allerdings kann man das story-mäßige Ausscheiden von Eric Bischoff, nachdem er sein Leathal Lockdown-Match verloren hatte, sicher als einen entscheidenden Punkt festmachen.

Immortal ended up being a part of why I stopped tuning into TNA on a weekly basis. All of these WWE legends with Hogan at the forefront was not what I was looking for from the alternative to WWE."

[8.0] "Immortal was TNA's attempt to create its own mega-heel stable, pulling from the blueprint of groups like the nWo and Evolution but loading it with more names than focus. On paper, Immortal had star power. Jeff Hardy was the face of the group during his dark "Anti-Christ of Professional Wrestling" run. Abyss was the enforcer. AJ Styles, after years of being TNA's golden boy, was recruited to give the group technical credibility. Mr. Anderson, Matt Hardy, Bully Ray, Gunner, Scott Steiner, and even Ric Flair were attached to the group at various points. The problem wasn't talent. It was execution. The group quickly became bloated. With so many members and shifting alliances, storylines lost clarity. Hogan and Bischoff dominated screen time, and instead of feeling like a dangerous force, Immortal often came off like a vehicle for backstage politics playing out in real time. The drama overshadowed the wrestling, and the overbooking weakened both faces and heels trying to get over. That said, there were flashes of greatness. Jeff Hardy's heel character work was some of the most unique of his career. Bully Ray began evolving into the singles star he would later become. And for a while, Immortal really did feel like a hostile takeover that could have long-term legs. But it burned out fast. By late 2011, the group fizzled out with little fanfare, leaving behind a trail of missed opportunities. Immortal had the names and the platform, but not the discipline to make it work long term. It was more smoke than fire, a stable that could have ruled TNA but ended up weighed down by its own ambition."

[2.0] "One of the worst stables in TNA history, which is saying something. The members of the group changed quite often, so there really wasn't much of a core of the group you can associate with it, like Hall/Nash/Hogan for the NWO, Flair and Arn for the Horsemen, HHH and HBK for DX, etc. It also featured the likes of Gunner, Murphy, and Rob Terry who just weren't good and their stories were either really bad or poorly executed."
