They are naturally an upper-midcard heel tag team: the should hold a championship from time to time, but they don't need to hold 4 championships at once. In 2022, they were overly protected in AEW, not losing a match to the Acclaimed while the Acclaimed were AEW champions, despite a match being teased. Maybe that was bad booking: the titles of the separate brands shouldn't merge, in the same way that the World champion shouldn't challenge secondary champions. This cheapened the tag team titles, as the implied narrative was basically that FTR was the deserving tag team, but the Acclaimed were selling edgy t-shirts and overpriced foam fingers."
[10.0] "One of the greatest tag teams of the modern era. Dax and Cash have tremendous chemistry and work perfectly as a unit. Their offense, their looks and their presention is heavily inspired by some incredible tag teams back in the 80s/90s like the Harts or Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson but they are not any rip-offs of old legends, they are they're own thing and their special in their own way. Every match they have is must-watch for me. Their trilogy with the Briscoes is sublime and their tag matches with the Bucks and Bullet Club Gold are all incredible. In NXT they did some awesome work with DIY and The American Alpha as the Revival but once they moved to the main roster, they got lost in the shuffle. Luckly, in 2020 they came to AEW and that saved their carrers as they were given the spotlight they deserved. They work very well both as heels and babyfaces, their shenanigans as heels were awesome to watch and their connection with the crowd as babyfaces in unmatched. They also work very well in multi-men situations, like trios or eight-man matches, and in singles competition, especially Dax who had an impressive streak of great matches in 2022. For me, they set the standard for today's tag team wrestling and they dominated this division since 2022."

"Other than any gun-related violence in their personal lives, the main crime of these two men is that theyre extremely boring. They have exactly zero personality. Every single promo of theirs is the same. They constantly break kayfabe and whine about the booking on social media when theyre unhappy so they can weaponize their fans. People keep saying their wrestling is good but I just dont see it. They couldnt carry a storyline to save their lives. Their title reign in 2023 was extremely disappointed: how can your entire character revolve around being the best and being a good fighter and whatever but then refuse to defend your titles for a full month? AEW used to have a great tag division and the tag belts used to mean something before they got the belts, had them throughout a meaningless reign, and then lost them in a squash match to a non-tag team."

The Brain Busters always deserved more, the Wild Samoans, the british buldogs, every tag team Vince Mcmahon ruined or downplayed, FTR managed to survive his attempts to do the same to them and easily become the best team of their era and will be remembered in the same breaths of the Hart Foundation, The Hardyz and The Dudleys to name a few. Good on them to never give up and become the top guys they were determined to be."
[6.0] "FTR -- the current consensus for "Best Tag Team in the World". Their whole gimmick is that they're throwbacks to the 80s style of "tough, fight-based wrestling", back when matches were about beating your opponent to a pulp instead of seeing how many flips you could hit. I can appreciate how unique they feel in today's action-obsessed wrestling climate, but I definitely think their gimmick is vastly overrated, as are literally all their matches. Firstly, there's only so far you can get with "we wrestle matches with really good technique" as your character. I definitely enjoy the plain aggression, physicality, and tag-team strategy they show, but whenever they do that it always feels more like they're just mechanically checking off a list of 'good-match' requirements rather than actually, directly 'exciting' me, so I "appreciate" their work much more so than I actually "enjoy" it. In their obsession with being 'serious', FTR have unfortunately completely avoided the important 'flashy' and 'creative' parts that can make wrestling so exciting and compelling. Basically, it wouldn't hurt Cash and (much more so) Dax to try implement a bit more of a 'modern' twist to their moves, either in terms of creativity or impact/'danger factor', rather than only relying on safe and uninspired moves as they currently do. They can definitely work the 'modern style' of wrestling in regards to a quick pace with lots of big spots and complex sequences, but I've never found those to be especially exciting because they often ring hollow by only ever featuring such basic moves. Another issue with FTR is that their "tough guy" personas are often quite see-through. This is most obvious with Dax, who clearly tries way too hard to look intimidating and pissed-off with his facial expressions. He also just loves to talk in his many whiney-toned promos about how hard-done-by he is, which further exposes how 'soft' he really is. Cash is actually the far better worker of the team, since he's the one that will genuinely impress me with the occasionally reckless ways he'll blitz an opponent, plus his general technique seems far more polished than Dax's AND he doesn't waste time pretending to be a 'badass' like Dax does. On the other hand, Cash's attitude might actually be too much the opposite of Dax's, since he's far more reserved to the point that I'm not sure I can specifically say he has much of a real 'character'. He can sometimes be decently sympathetic, but he often seems more just "along for the ride" and happy for Dax to take centre stage when it comes to them highlight their character work. In an ideal promotion, FTR would be booked as the dominant and hardened heels, which would then justify their lack of appealing characters and their naturally less exciting offence, and would also then enhance the characters and offence of their babyface opponents by contrast. As they are, FTR are perfectly good but not nearly as compelling or exciting as they're touted to be."

It is incredible that those two weren't even a tag team 10 years ago and become such a great team from being randomly paired in NXT. They're amazing talkers, technicians, and their chemistry is off the charts. They've put on some show stoppers in NXT but sadly the main roster has not been kind to them. Dash was injured and the writing team seemingly forgot about them. There's no denying that they should've been 1 or 2-time tag champions by now. Hopefully someday in the near future, they'll get the push they deserve."
[9.0] "It sucks what ill-timed injuries can do a team's momentum. Before Wilder's broke his jaw, they seemed primed for a solid run at the titles in Summer of 2016. They've been a bit listless and a potential move to Smackdown could re-start them. However, as it goes, when these two are given time they are one of the best tag teams in wrestling. Their old-school style of tag team wrestler really makes their matches flow especially with good babyface teams. They aren't close to reaching their potential as a tag team, but I think post-Wrestlemania looks promising."

I see Scott Dawson as the standout not to take anything away from Dash who is very good in the team as well."

Vorher als sie ohne Tag Team Namen bzw. als Mechanics rumliefen harmonierten sie meiner Meinung nach noch nicht so wirklich. Jetzt schon! Sie haben zurecht zweimal die NXT Tag Team Title gewonnen, wurden zurecht Tag Team of the Year und vor Allem kam der Call-Up völlig zurecht. Hier möchte ich auch nochmal besonders auf ihr Heel-Work eingehen. Die beiden werden, weil sie einfach wahnsinnig gut sind gecheert, allerdings schaffen sie es dennoch so böse/hassenswert zu agieren, dass sie am Ende doch die gewünschten Heel-Reaktionen ziehen. Eine Fähigkeit, die lange nicht mehr alle großen Heels beherrschen. Die beiden tun das! Nach all den excellenten "NXT Takeover"-Matches wird jetzt die Frage sein, ob sie in der Zukunft mit den Hardys kollidieren oder nicht. Und wenn ja, wie dieser unwillkürliche Zusammenstoß zweier so unterschiedlicher Stile aussehen wird. Ich trau den beiden mit jedem Gegner ein Gutes- mit Weltklasse-Match zu. Sie sind das was sie von sich behaupten zu sein TOP GUYS!"

Ich hoffe wirklich, die beiden werden nicht ruiniert wenn sie ins Main Roster kommen, es wäre einfach viel zu schade um ihren wirklich grandiosen Aufbau."

With a great run in NXT as a centerpiece of its tag division (including becoming the first two-time tag champs of the brand), I expect big things for the team when they hit the main roster."

Die Schlachten gegen Alpha und zuletzt gegen Ciampa & Gargano sind die besten Tag-Matches, die die WWE in Serie produziert hat. Hätte man den Mut, (Bullet) Club-Mitglieder selbst zu entwickeln statt sie einzukaufen, wären The Revival das ideal Tag-Team in dieser Konstellation. Sie haben (fast) alles, was Gallows & Anderson in Japan ausmachte."

Yeah they had that one botch at a TakeOver, but not much other than that. They just look like mean brawlin machines and they back it up soundly."

Dash and Dawson might be great workhorse wrestlers in singles competition, but together, they are a phenomenal "thinking man's tag team". Everything they do has meaning, every trick they pull, their positioning, in and out of the ring, their choice in moves, nothing from these guys is done for showing off athleticism - everything is designed to hurt or wear down their opponents until they hit the Shatter Machine for the win. It's a style of wrestling that is reminisce of 1980s NWA, and for some reason, it's perfect for them and a perfect way to help them stand out in a division that as a range of different and exciting approaches. They are well deserving as the first ever 2-time NXT Tag Champions."

While I think Dawson is the star of the two, both men carry their weight in the team and are absolutely more than the sum of their parts. These days, any major Revival match has the makings of a modern tag team classic."

There's no wasted motion, everything that they do is meant to just hurt their opponents while still maintaining a quantitative amount of wrestling skill. They have the best double team moves in the tag division on this roster, TODAY, where as many tag teams can feel like they are just two singles wrestlers who just happen to tag each other into the ring once in a while. No flips, just fists is a moniker I can get behind if it means more brutal wrestling matches where crowds get deflated because their heroes like Enzo and Cass have their faces punched in, their knees snapped in half and their noses smashed into mats on the floor. They are a resurrection of Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard. There's a reason why veteran tag teams say they are the best tag team on the roster and their mic skills are actually quite underrated and unappreciated because what they have to say on the mic is truthful and engaging."
